Does the Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G Chinese Version (Model No: PFEM10) actually work in the USA on GSM networks (T-Mobile / AT&T)? - OPPO Find X5 Pro Questions & Answers

I've heard conflicting things regarding band support on this device.
These are the bands supported by the PFEM10 model, with the bold ones used by T-Mobile in specific for their 4G LTE connectivity:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 66 - China
The only band missing is band 71, but otherwise the device has 5/6 4G bands needed for connectivity. The reason I'm asking is because I have a friend who imported the device from Hong Kong to the USA and he says when he plugs in his T-Mobile SIM to the device, he can't get 4G connectivity or any connectivity whatsoever. WiFi works fine, but no mobile data. We already called to try to activate the phone and was told by T-Mobile support "this device is not compatible with our network", even though the phone is factory unlocked and GSM-based.
Am I missing something here, or is there more to the picture than just band support?

Try entering the IME numbers in T-mobiles web site(bring your own device page). When I was researching this(I'm on T-Mobile) some were incompatible. I have the global version and have 4g connectivity but no 5G. HD voice also works even though the indicator does not show on the status bar(it shows in the dialer screen.
BTW..forget about AT&T. They wont support the phone AT ALL! I left them because my Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra worked fine on 5g until the 3g shutdown. They basically told me tough nuts so I left for T-Mobile.

Thanks for the reply man, I feel like we're the only ones here lol. I found an app on the Play store that allows you to take the first few numbers of a dummy IMEI and it fills in the rest of the numbers. I copy and pasted some variants of my Chinese IMEI version, and none of them works with t-mobile. I found a dummy IMEI number for the international version of this phone and made a few variants, plug them all into T-Mobile and they all say compatible, so looks good. So I'm pretty convinced that the international version will have 4G connectivity from your reports and a few other sources. I'm actually on MetroPCS but I know they use T-Mobile's infrastructure so I would assume it would be the same thing.
Another interesting thing is on Mint Mobile's IMEI compatibility checker, it gives some good detail... I typed in the Chinese IMEI and it said the phone did not support VoLTE, but I type in the IMEI number for international version and it says that it DOES support VoLTE. So my conclusion at this point is that the Chinese PFEM10 Oppo Find X5 Pro DOES support VoLTE but not specifically T-Mobile/MetroPCS's USA-based carrier implementation of VoLTE so it won't work despite the device having the compatible bands? Does that sound logical?
So do you have the options for things like volte and Wi-Fi calling under your sim settings on the global version?

Yeah,I thought more people would chime in on this lol don't see the normal options for either but when I'm on a call, HD lights up and my calls are crystal clear.

I have now owned the PFEM10 in USA on T-Mobile for about a week and my unit connected to my service almost instantly after I moved my SIM over from my IN2025(Oneplus 8 Pro). Everything works fine but no 5G indicator on status bar. I have confirmed using the app "Network Cell Info Lite" that it does connect to the n41 band however and still can get over 100 Mbps download speeds. HD calling works too.

Also, something odd but hasn't really caused an issue. On my old phone, when going into Mobile Network settings, you would find a "Preferred network type" option allowing you to limit the phone connection to 5G/4G/3G etc. but on this phone you do not get that, or many settings for cell data at all, at least in my experience on the T-Mobile network.

I just received a new PFEM10 and after inseted my italian SIM the roaming is with AT&T 5G and hd voice (see attached)
They messaged me that I can use sms and data but no phone call.
I don't know if is because the phone is not registered with them or something else. Also msg. work on T-Mobile.

Unlocked Sprint LG V40 for use on Tmobile

I'm novice to the whole rooting scene so please cope with me.
I found a good deal on almost new Lg v40 from a Sprint user.
We'll meet at Sprint store to verify device is paid off and unlock it.
Once Sprint unlocks it, can I just use this device on Tmobile with my Tmobile sim and will it have band 71 or do I need to have Tmobile fw on it to open band 71 ?
Lg website lists in specs for sprint model (model LM-V405UA) as having band 71.
Can anyone confirm ?

I don't think Sprint uses the same LTE bands.
Mine works just fine on T-mobile as of a week or so ago when i got it .Mine is the Sprint version full network & Factory UNLOCKED.
To make sure your GSM unlocked go to system/system-updates--
Then look in the list UICC Unlock it should say -----( The Device is unlocked for any SIM card )

*Edit - confirmed band 71 is only active in the tmo model, I went with it vs an unlocked variant*
Are you able to use band 71/600mhz? I've seen comments suggesting band 71 isn't enabled in any other model besides tmo, even though specs show all variants having the same band capability.
I'm in the same boat, on tmo & tempted by the lower priced unlocked variant, but would like to confirm band 71 is usable before ordering one.
my sprint v40 was working on t mobile for about two weeks then it went dead and lost its network settings now i cant seem to get it back on tmobile some1 help ! i did the uicc unlock and enable oem unlock

OEM unlock is specifically for bootloader unlocking not network unlocking..
I will be able to report back in about a week whether band 71 works.
I bought the Sprint version of the V40.
I am on Sprint now.
I am crossflashed to US.
I am switching to T-Mobile at the end of the week.
I live in a Band 71 market.
[NG]Owner
So I have switched to TMobile.
I used the hidden Service Menu ( *#546368#*405# ) to force the phone to Band 71. It did not connect to Band 71, instead to Band 2, as reported by LTE Discovery.
I then used the hidden Service Menu ( *#546368#*405# ) to force the phone to Band 12. It did connect to Band 12 as reported by LTE Discovery.
So either band 71 doesn't work, or I don't have access to Band 71 from my house. I have heard that there are confirmed Band 71 sightings in Kansas City, so I will go there to try. Once I do I'll report back.
Both VoWiFi and VoLTE are listed as provisioned.
[NG]Owner
Can somebody also confirm band 71 compatibility? I'm looking to get a Sprint V40 but I'm not sure if cross flashing will enable band 71. Also can somebody confirm if services such as VoLTE, HD Voice, and Wi-Fi calling will work on a cross flashed device? Also how exactly do you force gsm bands if it gives you a checklist? Do you just remove all the bands but one? Also will crossflashing to unlocked make OTA stop working? If so, why does it not work?
So I have to amend my previous post:
I can confirm the following:
Using the Hidden Service Menu from this post, and several apps out of the Play store, my phone sees T-Mobile bands 2, 4, 12 and 71 towers. And I have successfully been connected to a Band 71 tower.
Oddly enough, LTE Discovery still reports the connection as a different band. So I'm going with the Hidden Service Menu as definitive.

Not sure what you mean by still. I was on Sprint. Received Sprint v40. Immediately crossflashed to US version. Used phone on Sprint. Migrated to T-Mobile. VoLTE, HD Voice, and Wi-Fi calling work. That was the sequence. I have no idea if Sprint has those features or if they work on Sprint. But on T-Mobile with a cross flashed to US version v40, those services work just fine for me.
Now if you are thinking of crossflashing a T-Mobile v40, stop right now. You'll brick it. There is nothing you can do to a TMo v40.

I assume you are also entering it into the phone dialer. I type in the code, and the hidden service menu appears. If it's not working for you, I don't know why not.

Mi 9 cant activate with LTE on AT&T network?

So I got a Chinese edition phone with band 2, 4, 5, 12, and 17 to fully support both TMobile and ATT network. The Global edition was missing band 17 for ATT so I didnt want to go that route. Been going back and forth with ATT a bit for the past few days since my device came in. The phone shows up and an "unknown device" on their network when we tried adding the IEMI. It will get UMTS (2g) and HSPA+ (3Gish/4G), but will not connect to any LTE or GSM. The phone supports GSM fine, so its strange that it wont do normal cellular connection over that, it will only do cellular over UMTS. The device wont detect as an LTE device and so the sim wont activate LTE on it.
Anyone else with ATT have this issue? And were you able to resolve it somehow?
Or those with TMobile in the US, are you able to activate the phone fine and get full coverage and LTE working?
I messed around with the connection settings in the *#*#4636#*#* menu. Only the "LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS" and "LTE/TD-SCDMA/WCDMA" will work properly at all. Both options give me UMTS for cellular, and HSPA+ for data. Of the 4 APNs that ATT uses, only the "ATT Phone" will work at all. The standard LTE APN "NXTGENPHONE" will leave the phone with no data or cellular service. This is related to the phone not being detected as an LTE device and the SIM not activating as such.
I simply put my AT&T sim in my China version and it worked straightaway. I didn't have to do anything else.
I am on Cricket, which leases service from AT&T, so I should know if it works once it comes Tuesday.
Just for perspective, I got a EU version of the Mi 9. Popped in a T-Mobile sim and it worked out of the box. Try the other sim slot. Could be your sim card if not.
Try these codes in Dialer. See if that helps anything.
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWIFI *#*#869434#*#*
I was just making an ATT account so no previous activations or sims. So that could be the issue. I will try activating a sim with an old phone and then move the sim over. Or since it is the same hardware as a Galaxy S10, ill see if I can find a store that will activate a sim with a floor model S10 and then let me swap the sim into my Mi 9
Straight talk (ATT sim) lte without issue. no programming necessary , I have the global model though

Where did you guys buy the China version from?
US mobile white SIM from starter kit (T-Mobile) works well with LTE on Chinese model of Mi 9. Black one (Verizon) technically works, registers in the network and enables data, but Verizon refuses the IMEI as non-certified brand of the phone. Trick with activation on the iphone first and switching to xiaomi did not work, service gets cut off, when trying to make a call, it keeps dropping. AT&T based: Cricket and Straight Talk work just fine too.

Thanks for the info.
I was wondering about Verizon, since it support some CDMA bands and support 2 out of 3 of the LTE bands they use (doesnt support B13). Unfortunately I never tried it myself since half the coverage near me uses the band this phone doesnt support on Verizon.
I went and got my ATT account updated to an old Nexus 6 IMEI number and it got LTE on the N6. I then took the sim and put it in my Mi 9 and now the Mi 9 has LTE. So for anyone just getting this phone, you must have an IMEI on your account that is recognized as an LTE phone. If you try to add the IMEI of the Mi9 it is not recognized by ATT and wont provision LTE.
IMEI spoofing does not work with Verizon, as they simply ban the device. They call it “non certified”. Bands are seem ok.

I've been having the same issue, with a recently-bought (last week arrived) Mi 9 Global on AT&T postpaid. LTE showed up and worked fine day one, now network speeds are dropped down to 3.5G speeds. Anyone else have success with getting LTE on a fresh SIM?

EU VoLTE on SM-G7810

Hello!
Did anyone manage to get VoLTE and VoWiFi to work with any EU carrier and SM-G7810? I have the options enabled in settings, but, unfortunately, I think the phone does some sort of carrier check(my carrier is Orange RO). As it seems that many people in Europe bought this phone as it has 8 GB RAM and it tends to be rather cheap, has anyone been able to get VoLTE to work? The bands are okay, and in my case I know it's not a carrier issue(I had Xiaomi phones which were also not supported officially by the carrier but I called them once and told asked them to just enable VoLTE and VoWiFi for me and from that point on it worked after I disabled the carrier check on the Xiaomi phone). In my area I have poor 3G and 2G reception, but very good LTE band 20 so VoLTE is quite important for me.

Hi, do you fix it ? I have also the same problem.
After clearing Carrier Whitelist VoLTE is working for me on DiGi and Vodafone Romania . IT also works Digi 5G that doesn't have extensive coverage .
What strangely doesn't seem to work is B3 2CA on Vodafone , strangely it works B3+B1 but not B3 intraband.
Also the good thing about the phone is the existance of B20 that really works even the phone is HK, China model

Hello. Can you please tell me how you cleared Carrier Whitelist? I can't find any information online. Thank you.
Search XDA as it is in the service menu and it is used generally for 5GCarriwr Whitelisting.

Pixel 5 carrier aggregation seldom activated

Hello everyone, I live in Hong Kong and bought a Pixel 5 GD1YQ. The phone is great, but the network performance is not as I expected. I even suspect my Pixel 5 has a defective modem. I use the app NetMonster to check the bands that my phone connects to. It rarely shows LTE-A, but only connects to one band. What's even worse is when it connects to band 1 (2100 MHz), it sometimes drops internet connection and shows an 'X' in the signal bar, the signal bar is full though. I had an Xperia 1 before and it always connected to multiple bands (CA) wherever I go.
I have a little request here. Would you mind telling me whether your Pixel 5 always does CA or not. Also, if you have another phone, how is CA on the other phone comparing to Pixel 5? I just want to know whether my phone has a faulty modem or just isn't compatible with the carriers in Hong Kong? Thanks in advance.
Update: I just found that when I use another carrier, the phone changes bands more actively. So, I guess that's a compatibility problem. Now that I want to buy one more of another colour.

Question Android 12 Breaks 5G NSA?

Hi, I updated to Android 12 when it was released, and it seems to have broken 5G NSA support on T-Mobile. With non-standalone in my area, I'm able to connect to midband 5G and get excellent data speeds. After the Android 12 update, it seems to prioritize standalone (SA) lowband 5G, which is often even slower than LTE, and I have not once seen it connect to NR NSA. I never encountered this on Android 11, but don't want to reflash my phone just to troubleshoot. I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue. Thanks!
what app are you using to get the connection info? i have yet to find a network tools app that handles dual sim phones well. a few apps state android os itself dropped 2 sim support after android 9.

I'm just going into Settings -> About Phone -> SIM Status. It tells me the type of connection for voice and data. If I were on midband, it would show LTE for Voice and NR NSA for data. But it's showing NR SA for both, indicating my phone is on lowband.

ok. i just got a straight talk t-mobile sim activated this morning and i show LTE for voice and NR NSA for data network type. i've done a few speedtests and it's been between 130-150Mb down with 30 Mb up. however, google fi which is same t-mobile tower gets over 200Mb down /30Mb up. so it just appears to me that t-mobile gives a sweeter deal to Fi than to straight talk. but that's just one morning and a couple tests.

Hmm, I'm on a normal T-Mobile plan, but I'm not sure if that would make a difference. Are you on Android 12?
This issue only showed up for me the day I updated my phone. I don't think I dropped it or anything, so I doubt it's something physically wrong with it. But I don't want to unlock the bootloader, wipe my phone, and roll back to Android 11 just for troubleshooting.
Figured out a solution. I stuck in my mom's T-Mobile SIM, which is much older and doesn't support standalone 5G, and it connected to NSA. So it's some software thing where they're heavily prioritizing SA 5G over NSA, even when NSA is available and SA is garbage.

Yes, android 12. As well as a new sim. There was some mention by T-Mobile of having a new sim for the 5G. I have no idea if s new one is required, just that they said it in the materials they sent me that 5G would work best.
I have T-Mobile and am getting great service with 5G where I am. I have just recently got it connected though, and I was already on Android 12 when I had it connected for service. Not sure if that matters though?
I use Mint on T-Mobile towers. I just upgraded to Android 12 OTA, and with the adaptive connectivity setting enabled I see LTE as the mobile voice and the data fluctuates between IWLAN and NR NSA. I have wifi-calling enabled, with mobile network preferred. I didn't pay attention to this status screen in the past, so cannot say if anything changed really...
