Question Questions about Vivo and OriginOS - Vivo X Fold

I’m thinking about ordering a Vivo X Fold and just had a few questions about the OS.
1. How are the notifications? Are they received normally or would I need to fiddle with the settings to get them right?
2. Can I use the Google Messages app or do I need to use Vivo’s stock messaging app? I tried the Oppo Find N and they force us to use their stock app. So, I returned the phone.
3. Google Pay? Does it work properly?
4. The launcher, would I be able to change it?
5. Smartwatches. Would I be able to use a WearOS or Galaxy Watch on it?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't have an answer but I'm also interested to know because I want to take the vivo x fold

Basing on previous devices (Vivo X70 pro plus) :
1) Notification: you have to set applications rights correctly as Chinese devices usually kill apps to save battery
2) Google message no problem
3) Google Pay works
4) You can change the launcher but you have to create a Vivo account
5) WearOs works if you install it from Vivo account Store, the one from Google Play Store doesn't work. Google Pay from the watch doesn't work.
Thinks that don't work:
- Android Auto
- Google backup
- OK Google voice activation
- Maps location history

No clue and even if you could know it's not possible as you can't get root access. If you buy a device sold in the Chinese market you should accept some compromise

I have a EVA-AL00 arriving tomorrow...what do I need to know?

Ok, so I bought a P9 ( EVA-AL00 ) since I've always been a fan of Leica products, and I'm a hobbyist photographer. First off, I currently use an iPhone 5s for the last 2 months, and before that was using a OnePlus One, and before that an iPhone 5c and Blackberry Passport, so I've had a variety ogf phones over the last 2 years. I'm not into hacking, or unlocking or locking bootloaders and that type of thing, which is why I generally like Apple products, as they just seem to work out of the box. I'm leaving my 5s because the screen is too small, and I like what the P9 offers for the money, at a cheaper price point than an iPhone 6s. And the Leica optics.
So, having said that, what do I need to know once I get the phone tomorrow? Any critical or important tips or tricks? Again, I'm not into anything complicated when it comes to phones like rooting, etc... I'm in Canada and my Carrier is Bell. My ANdroid experience has been with the OnePlus One I used for a while, and I was generally pleased with it.
Thanks
Ok, so phone arrived. I made a mistake. It's a EVA-DL00.
It's running EVA-DL00C17B163, and I'm currently updating to 168. This is a CHinese version of the phone, from my understanding. I'm using it in English, but some things are still in Chinese. Is there any way to to flash with other software to make it all English?

Welcome to the club
I recently bought the EVA-L10 (Chinese Dual-Sim, "premium" version, 4G/64G) while in Shanghai, and I have the same "problem" as you.
Basically since Google is not available in China, the phones sold in China don't come with Google Android framework, they use a "non-google Android", based of the official Android.
So, to your question, will it be possible to flash another firmware over your phones firmware? I say Yes, however at the same time I'm lying, because I'm also looking for this firmware for my phone, but if someone posts a EVA-L29 Firmware somewhere on the Interweb, I'm most certain this firmware will work on my phone and should also work on yours (might require bootloader unlock and root, but so what..).
But the phone is, chinese apps or not, awesome
/S
You can install Google stuff. Just download the Google Play store from the Huawei store, and then have at 'er installing all the normal Google Play apps that you want. That's what I'm currently doing. I just want to get rid of all the Chinese stuff on the phone. ALso, switch the keyboard to the regular Android one in the settings.

Hi!
Of course, but there are still some applications that are "System Applications" that you cant get rid of, like HiCare, HiApp, .. etc. and if you are in a country using special characters like ü or åäö, these are not rendered correct in the Mail app (shows up as chinese chars).

Hi,
I also bought a P9 ( EVA-AL00 ) last June, and currently i'm having an issue.
Usually i don't have games on my phone, or almost none, but some days ago, i wanted to install Heartstone on my P9. When downloading , at about 85%, sometimes 9x% (once it reached 100%) suddently it pops out from Google Play, and don't install the game. I tried also with other games and it happens the same. It doesn't happens with every game, i tested sucessfully with Stack and Sokoban
I have plenty of free space on phone and several applications installed (no Google Play issue, i think).
After i received the phone, i download the Google services/play store APK without issues. I deactivated the chinese bloatware, with no issues. Once Google Play installed, i downloaded all other Google Apps i use and others without issues...well there is an issue i had with RT app. It installed ok, but sometimes when i want to open it, i have to try several times to open it... I click on icon but closes.
Have someone here with EVA-AL00 having this issue also?
Thanks!

I just bought the non-carrier specific 3G / 32G Chinese version (EVA AL00) P9 when I was in Guangzhou last week and had to do the following after coming back home to get it to work with google and sync with two google accounts.
1. Install Google Play Store from HiApp and sign in with first google account.
2. Make sure to give Google Play Store permission to access storage, otherwise large apps won't install.
3. Download apk of Google Contacts Sync from APKMirror
4. Download apk of Google Calendar Sync from APKMirror
5. Use the browser on the phone to download these two apk files and follow the instruction on the phone to install them.
Sorry I'm not allowed to post outside links yet, however google search keywords like Google Contacts Sync APK will turn up the download links.
6. Since the phone still did not allow me to add a second google account in Settings -> Accounts -> Add Account, I had to install Youtube and use the Add Account in Youtube to add a second google account.
After these steps, I was able to sync contacts and calendar events with both google accounts and install apps from Play Store.

Sharing my experience with a Chinese version Mate 20 Pro

So I finally received my Chinese version Mate 20 Pro Emerald variant and I spent the last 24 hours setting it up, now it's finally getting into a more or less stock android feeling. I decided to write a post because man, I've never spent so much effort just trying to setup a new phone.
Ordering
I ordered the phone from Huawei T Mall store on Nov. 11th. I paid about 1250 CAD through Alipay for the phone and ~ 600 RMB having my friend sending it to me via DHL. I also had to pay some import tax getting it into Canada but it's just bad luck, plus the tax really depends on how much you declare the value to be.
First Impression
I had a Oneplus 5, I like the cleanness of its ROM, it's close to stock android and I was using the Rootless Pixel 2 Launcher which makes it essentially a stock Android device. The Mate 20 Pro is a bit heavier than the Oneplus 5 and it's just slightly bigger.
I started with applying the tempered glass screen protectors I bought also from Taobao when I ordered the phone. Sadly I can't seem to get it in the right place, and it's greatly affecting the screen responsiveness and accuracy. I ended up throwing them away.
Turning it on, and I'm already having issue with the initial setup process. First of all, I was asked to create a Huawei ID. But guess what -- I live in Canada but Canada isn't an available option in the region list, somehow US is. I mean, this phone is not even available in US, why would you provide that as an option but not Canada?
I went ahead choosing US as the region. It asked for phone verification, that worked for me because US and Canada share the same country code.
After that, I uninstall a bunch of pre-installed apps -- they are mostly popular apps in China, plus a few useless utilities made by Huawei. I uninstall about 25 apps during this process.
Then I tried to restore all my apps from the old phone, first step would be getting Google Play Service working. Surprisingly Google Play Service is pre-installed. but I wasn't able to update it through the Huawei App Store, because US Huawei ID apparently is not supported. In fact I can't use any of the pre-installed Huawei apps, they are all blocked. So I deleted my account and created a Chinese one instead.
I was able to access the app store and update Google Play Service, along with Play Store. Google backup apparently didn't work. I ended up using the Huawei "Phone Clone" app to transfer all my stuff to this phone. It does the job pretty well.
Getting third party launcher working on Chinese ROM (If you have a global version then this may not apply to you)
Spent sometime getting all the apps logged in and tweaking settings, I started to look into replacing the stock launcher. But then you can't change launcher on the Chinese rom, so I did some research and here is what I did:
1. Install a third party launcher. I chose Nova Launcher here. Never used it before but Rootless Launcher kept crashing and for Rootless Pixel 2 Launcher, there is an annoying security alert saying "Google is using microphone" that kept popping up.
1. Enable developer mode
2. Enable USB Debug
3. Connect the phone to PC
4. Access ADB shell
5. uninstall stock launch: pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.android.launcher
6. Reboot
A few notes on using this 3rd party launcher hack:
* I also installed the Nova companion app to have Google Feed panel access.
* You need to allow Nova companion to auto-launch in Settings -> Apps -> App Launch, otherwise rebooting the phone will make Google Feed panel disappear.
* If you select gesture navigation in system setting, swiping up from bottom may not work.
Getting Google Assistant to work
The phone has the Huawei voice assistant by default, and changing the default Assistant app to Google doesn't work. The shortcut still only bring up the Huawei voice assistant. The fix is to uninstall the app using the same process above. The package name is com.huawei.vassistant. After reboot, I was able to access Google Assistant using the home button (I still prefer three key navigation). "OK Google" doesn't work on Home screen though.
Make sure push notifications are working
I also noticed I don't receive push notifications most of the time. For example, I have Duo Mobile which is used as an authenticator at work. Having the screen on, I didn't receive the push notification. I had to launch the app manually to see the authentication request. Here is a workaround:
1. Settings -> Apps -> App Launch
2. Find the app you wish to receive push notification
3. Disable auto manage, it will ask you how you want to manage manually, choose Auto-launch and Run in Background at least
Known Issues/Todo list
Here are some of the things that I'm having issue with but haven't figured out a solution yet. Please let me know if you know a solution to any of them:
1. Google Pay Contactless does not work. This is almost a deal breaker. From what I've read, it seems to be just Chinese version doesn't work.
1. LastPass accessibility setting gets reverted to off randomly. This seems to related to when I close all apps using the trashcan button on recent apps screen.
2. Default Assistant app setting mysteriously gets reset to None. Still don't understand why.
3. Text in the notification just look so bad. Also not sure how to tweak that.
4. The security alert for app using microphone keeps popping up in Google Assist and Google Feed. I'm not sure how I should feel about that...
Things I like about this device
1. Chinese version supported dual SIM. I believe the global version does not.
2. photos in low lights are awesome.
3. charging is super fast! I also got the wireless charging thing.
4. I'm happy with its battery performance so far.
5. It's a faster device overall. The games I play run smoother on this phone comparing to Oneplus 5. I understand OP5 is an older phone but that's the only reference point I got.
That's what I had so far. I'm also keeping an eye on the progress of FunkyHuawei Mate 20 Pro support -- I'm looking forward to flash the global version ROM hoping it has better google integration and less chinese-oriented useless "features".
Hope it helps!
Thanks for sharing

when attempting to enable contactless, the following messages appear in order:
contacting your bank...
your bank is verifying your card...
added feature cannot be setup. contact your bank to resolve this issue.
I called the bank and they said they didn't get the request so they don't know what error it is.
I contacted Google and haven't got a response.
Did you already have the card in your GPay wallet, and were re-verifying, or did you add it from scratch? Guessing it may not make a difference though.

I have the Huawei p40 pro for 2 months. I installed all my apps using Aoura store, everything works great, no issues. 1.you need to downgrade to 131 firmware, it was hell to do that!
2.battery drain with google services!!!!!

It was easy to got back to .131, I did from .147. I installed Google services etc then updated to Aug security patch .154. I have wattsapp and outlook notification but I don't use Gmail so can't comment on that. While it was a pain to get G services on I'm glad I did as now my banking apps work in the UK, the only thing I miss is contactless payments from the phone.

Battery drain may be an issue. I don´t know, as I use google framework etc on this phone since the beginning. And for sure it will not drain the battery more than on other devices and negliable in contrast to "screen on apps" as youtube, for instance.. or gaming....
During the night my device drains about 2% of battery capacity (within 7-8hrs); I can deal with that. Everything else depends on how you use your device.
Regarding your first post, google services have nothing to do with whatsapp. Furthermore downgrading by hisuite proxy ist pretty easy and notifications work, at least for me.
But you are right. Aurora store is fantastic. I use it for all apps except for those I paid for. And it is nice to be independent from google, but...
my reasons why I finally installed the google services:
1, I wanted my paid apps back (e.g poweramp, SD Maid pro, Windfinder pro etc).
2, in app purchases, if necessary in future.
3, I have all my contacts and calendar on my google account and and i'm glad that all my data in this regard is automatically synchronized with my phone again.
4, Google map implementation and some other stuff... now all apps working again.
Of course I can live without google services, especially as I´m a friend of debloating as much as possible. Maybe I will change my decision in future. It´s a nice idea to be independent from google (or apple).... as much as possible.
For someone like me, I need some amount of GMS. For example, my city's bike share and car share programs require GMS. Unfortunately, I cannot get either of them working with the solutions for GMS so far.

Man if I turn back to .131 is it enough to use lzplay or do I have to begin the manual installation?
Do you have a guide?
Thank you
No option at the moment to install google services Google blocked all ways to do that.
how is it possible to downgrade to 131?
All guides are so confusing, especially in the proxy thing
is there any step by step guide?

1.- You must make yout phone root
2.- Install systemizer.
3.-Install google apps (play store, services, and syncadapters, for services you need are mandatory) calendar, contacts, etc. I donwloaded apks for all.
3.- Systemize all apps you want to work as natural.

Question transfer apps from old smartphone to Vivo X90 Pro Plus

Is there a way to transfer apps (including accounts/psw) from my old device to Vivo X90 Pro Plus?
Thank you
Not sure if Smartswitch can do that . Might worth a check.
Easyshare worked with me
Easyshare works perfectly , Highly recommended
Not the password and account , only data (video , image , apk , file , documents)
I used easyshare. Not all apps transfered. I still spent a good half a day to just download the missing apps, log myself into all the apps, set-up all my authenticator apps over to the phone, uninstalled most of the Chinese apps that I'd have absolute no use for. Note that I did not debloat. I simply clicked on Chinese apps and uninstalled. I disabled all notifications from virtually all the Chinese apps. I disabled all the Jovi cards.
I would strongly advise against using easyshare for transferring anything but pictures/documents/videos/data (but for this data it's perfect) Easyshare pulls all apps from Vivo appstore (easy to see, because the missing ones are those not available in vivo appstore). I would not trust vivo appstore much - wechat for example shows way more advertisement and seems to have worse privacy vs the wechat version from playstore. Maybe it's only wechat and other apps that the vivo appstore instantly want to "update" (sometimes to older version) to push you a chinese spyware version instead. Likely all messengers from vivo appstore will be different - because China mandates to be able to read all messages/know with whom you are communicating.
I had some apps where notifications weren't working from the vivo appstore version and would only start to work once I installed the google play version. Permission/Notification settings were identical.
Finally I used easyshare to transfer all apps... but couldn't transfer accounts. and have to re-login in all the apps.

It's not pulling them from Play store, otherwise it would pull all apps available from Play store. Neither does it pull them from your old phone - again otherwise all would be there except stuff forbidden in China like Pornhub or similar. So that only leaves the vivo AppStore - and all apps which it doesn't transfer don't exist on vivo AppStore.
Very very unlikely from anywhere else. And surely WeChat is the Chinese version that is full or advertisement. Bilibili and some other Chinese apps clearly where Chinese version too
