Need Help for Rog 2 Brick Phone - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

Good day!
My Rog 2 Global phone suddenly hang while watching youtube and then it died. Right now I am unable to power on the phone or even charge the phone. I'm thinking it may be a software glitch so I would need to reprogram the phone by installing a stock firmware. Unfortunately, at the moment, I am unable to fast boot the phone but when I plug it on PC, there is a connect sound from the PC.
By the way, it used to do fastboot but it just loops from the boot loader until it turns off. Or when plugged into the charger, the LED blinks red but doesn't charge.
My Rog 2 phone is not rooted and is running the latest update from Asus.
Hope anyone can help me with my issue.
Thank you!

From your description I highly doubt this could be a software issue.
Bugs don't just appear like cause something like this, especially if you don't root and tinker with your device.
I heard similar cases that were hardware faults with the motherboard which is expensive. Best go to a repair shop.

Bricked HD2 Help......

No Boot loader
Not charging
No lights
Nothing by pressing vol down and power buttons
Nothing by pressing both vol buttons and reset button
Turned off for hours without battery and pressed power button for long time to drain the battery and turned back on.
Nothing works any more ideas.
But when I connect it to my laptop it does make a notification sound that a new device is connected and is called the qualcomm cdma technologies msm.
If I have bricked it and no solutions and I have warranty should I call HTC or my insurance company?
See..

OK,try this! Remove the Battery-Cover. Look at the Space between the Battery and the Phones Frame on the lower side,on the right of our SIMcard. If you can see two small Pins, remove the battery, and reinsert it carefuly,so that the two Pins are touching the contacts on the Battery...
what happened?
flashing fail? any details please.

When experiencing any kind of problems its always usefull to post what you was doing before the problem occured. With no other information, there is no way to do any kind of propper trouble shooting.
Its like droping your car at a garage, say it has problems and walk away. Was it that you ran out of gas, did you battery failed or the engine, is it only a lightbulb that doesnt work. A car mechanic wont be able to help you with the car problem cuz he dont know what kind of problem you were experiencing
Try to recharge your phone by default loader (not by pc-USB) for a few hours and try to boot again. Or try entering boot loader while pressing volume down and power on after a few hours of loading.
I agree.
The issue has been posted like a telegram being sent to a grandchild for her nanny's funeral...!!
No one will probe you for your issues. You need to provide as many details as to how you r***ed your HD2..!!
Hi
i have pretty much the same problem. I got this phone on ebay because someone tried to put another rom on it and failed due to an power failure (thunderstorm).
When i connect the phone to the computer via USB, it recognizes a Qualcomm CDMA MSM Driver but cannot install it.
About the phone:
No lights, no bootloader, nothing. It becomes warm while charging so i assume the hardware is not faulty. I guess the bootloader is broken.
Do you have any idea how to save this phone?
i had once a similar issue...
i flashed and failed (not really, cause it works again )..
everything was the same only that i could get access to bootloader (and so my leo booted up).
but when it was powered off and i connected it to my pc, it also recognized a qualcomm device...
badly, that doesnt help you...
i have no plan how to get this work again...if the phone doesnt turn on...
maybe its time for a prayer.

I just found this thread, and hoping someone has come up with an answer, though I havn't actually searched the threads yet as i just got the phone today, cause someone bricked it trying to unlock it (I assume because his only clue was I might need to flash a different rom). But its the same symptoms, no lights, dosn't show charging, attempts to install a qualcomm CDMA MSM driver when connected to windows pc.
Is there a solution?
Thank you in advance for your replys.

Nope. You're screwed.

Coworker's phone not turning on. Bricked?

My coworker has an HTC Vivid which will not turn on. I can't even get a blink or a vibration from it, so I can't even get into recovery or factory reset. I suspected that it was simply unable to charge the battery but it is detected when I plug it in to USB (first as QHSUSB_DLOAD while it searches for a driver then ZEUS Flash Device once Windows Update finds and installs one). The fit is tight/snug and the PC detects it, so I assume the USB port is fine and it should be able to charge.
Now, the owner is an old man who doesn't even know what "root" is, so I highly doubt he did anything which could brick it. He knows I often repair phones for other coworkers so he asked me to take a look at it.
Before I tear into a phone I always look online to see if anyone else has had a similar issue. I haven't seen anything about this yet and I haven't encountered it myself either. The phone is in a rubber Otterbox skin and looks to be in great shape. It does not appear to have ever been dropped. Has anyone heard of these just spontaneously failing to power on? Has a fix been found?
I haven't looked inside yet but the phone looks great externally and under the battery door. The battery might be ever so slightly bulging but it's hard to tell just by looking at it. It's the only thing I've detected that might be out of order, so I'd like to try another. Too bad I can't find a spare locally.
Should I be able to get any kind of feedback on USB power without the battery inserted at all? Can someone try booting or entering recovery with the battery removed?
Thanks!

Take the battery out and charge it externally. It sounds like the port is not charging, for whatever reason. My phone did that back before I rooted it. Hasn't happened since.

QHSUSB_DLOAD is scary...
Your only hope is the unbricking project...
You can try an RUU... If you can get the RUU to find the device...

[Q] Help Please, My M7 is Unresponsive

Hello all, thanks for taking the time to look at my thread.
Last night I put my M7 on the charger and when I woke up it would not turn on. Also the indicator LED was not on, neither orange or green. I tried several cables, wall warts, car chargers to no avail. After a bit of googling I came across an issue where the device shows up in Windows device manager as QHSUSB_DLOAD, and this is exactly my case. I am in the process of trying a fix that uses Ubuntu, but I would like some input, or any ideas I could also try to resurrect my phone.
It was rooted and running ViperRom, on their last version of KitKat. I have not flashed anything to it since that update came out. Also it had the stock kernel to that Rom.
The phone has not responded to any button press combinations, nor the bright lights on the sensor.
Finally I did notice that my PC, as well as my aftermarket car stereo, were able to connect to the phone but were unable to interact with it.
Please if anyone has any input I am open to all suggestions, also if you need more info/details about the situation I will answer any question as best I can.
Thanks again!

QHSUSB_DLOAD issue happens for 2 reasons
Hardware failure (most likely the motherboard)
Bad firmware flash
Cause #2 can be fixed using the unbrick project with ubuntu.
Cause #1 requires a motherboard replacement.
Since you didn't flashed anything that directly resulted with a qhsusb_dload brick then its #1.
i was afraid of that, thanks for your reply!

Rog phone 3 (Tencent edition) USB -C port charging but not recognized on my laptop.(Lenovo)

Model Name: ROG 3 trncent edition( ZS661KS)
Firmware Version:WW-17.0823.2012.131
Rooted or not: yes ( was trying to root)
Frequency of Occurrence: Got<HARDBRICKED>
APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): no app used.(magisk or anything else)
In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.
========================================
My rog phone 3 (tencent), which i brought about 6 months ago. I never had any issues like this.
The other day i opened my camera and suddenly the front camera was not working. I restarted the phone, did factory reset, cleared camera data, but nothing solved the issue. I thought i have to upgrade the firmware. So i downloaded the new firmware (2012.143) and connected the usb c cable with my laptop ( lenovo ideapad 320) , but it did not recognize. i tried both ports. I never had this problem before. I unlocked the bootloader, i thought it might help. I also turned on the developer option and selected FTP protocol and USB debugging. But it still didn't connect. while i was trying to enter bootloader recovery mode I accidently put the phone on EDL mode and now its bricked . The indicator light is flashing when i connect to the pc but the PC isn't recognizing the port ( i downloaded the qualcomm EDL driver on my laptop also, but the port option is not showing at all). Is it hardware problem, But the phone was charging just fine.
please suggest some help
Sounds like a hardware malfunction or damage to something on the board (burnt out microchip or resistor something along those lines) something a cell phone or repair shop could have fixed but.. it sounds like you bricked it in combination with the other issue which your best bet now is a new rog phone and sell your current one for parts or repair.. just because the cost to repair it would probably be more than what it is worth as it would require professional repair.

Bro my phone turned on, and it functioned normally, i didn't brick it, it was probably battery dead, i charged it for hours and it turned on.. But how do you fix a power IC that supply power from the battery . Is it the one in the (picture) , Because sometimes when it charge it gives only the green light and black screen.
Iam having an issue on debug. My bottom side is ok on getting debugged.. but my side port tends only to go in charging state.. mine not rooted or anything. Im just trying to downgrade firmware. any advise?

Question Mi 11 Ultra Dead screen

Hello all,
I've been using my MI 11 ultra with the Xiaomi.eu latest stable version for months and never had any issue. Today, I was making a videocall on Whatsapp, and after hanging up the phone, the screen just turned black and never came back.
I tried to reboot on fastbook/recovery, but seems like the screen is just dead. Things that I tried.
- Plug in the phone charger (nothing happens)
- Force restart phone by holding the power button (It makes a little vibration like it's rebooting, but nothing happens after this)
- If I connect my phone to my laptop, it detects the phone as MTP, but I can't do anything with it.
- I tried to list device through ADB, but I doesn't appear in the list.
I have no clue what to do, at the moment it died, I wasn't doing anything special, I thought It would be because of the heat, but the phone wasn't hot.
It's really weird. Is there anything else I can do? Am I missing something?
Thank you in advance!
I think it's time to take your phone to service center...

Agreed!!!
has anyone sent the phone back to china for screen repair during the warranty period? Wonder how the process works.
Warranty with Eu. rom?! highly doubtful.
if you can fastboot your device, i'd suggest that you install original rom. (DONT LOCK BOOTLOADER). then jump to fastboot again and lock your bootloader. then send it for warranty. I don't think you'll need the screen to do that.
dont worry about device access and boot inside, doesnt matter.
Thank you all for the answers.
I stil have my last breath of hope, I found someone who had a similar issue with an Mi 11 => https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/black-screen-on-mi-11-ultra.63498/
I wasn't expecting it for this phone, you never expect this kind of weird issue from a 1k phone hahaha. It never happened to me and I've been flashing my Xiaomi devices since 2010
I'll try one last time, the back screen is not responding neither and as far as i know, they have different video controllers and since my computer can recognize it, I still have some hope.
This issue got me on vacation in the middle of the rain forest, and as you can imagen, internet here goes really slow.
I'm trying to download all the stuff that I need and once i have it, I'll try to restore my phone. I'll update you all with the results
Thanks in advance!
that would be great because if one of us should have the same problem then he can look in here and help himself
Hey all,
After fastboot, nothing changed unfortunately, I think I'll need to send it to warranty.
thank you all for the help

I had similar problems on my samsung galaxy a12. I flashed older fimware and the screen would just not work, it would be pitch black 24/7 no matter what I have done. I had to blindly enter in to odin_mode and flash new fimware. Similar thing is for you, try blindly booting in to fastboot or what ever you and flash the orginal ROM and don't use EU one because they probably wount accept it with in the warranty. AND UNDER NO CONDITION, DO NOT RE-LOCK THE BOOTLOADER
Hello all,
I have fresh, happy and weird update!
I was decided to send my phone to service center, I was just waiting to come back to Spain from my vacation, meantime, my phone was between my clothes since my last update.
Today I took it again while I was packing my things and voila! Screen is working again
My guess is that after taking a heavy rain, it got wet somehow (I say this because it supposed to be waterproof) and this caused the screen issue (3 days after the my rainy day).
Leaving the phone between my clothes, it my helped to dry out any water that could have leaked inside and phone is working again.
So, what I learned from this experience, never trust the waterproof certificate, hahahha.
I think once I'm back home, I'll put the phone on the water and try make the issue happen again, then send it to the SAT.
Thank you all!

Warranty doesn't cover water damage as far as I know
You might be safer not trying to repeat the experiment
