Question Redmi Note 10 5G Global stuck on MIUI Recovery after update to 12.5.5.0 - POCO M3 Pro / Redmi Note 10 5G

Hello all,
I just got the V12.5.5.0 update on my Redmi Note 10 5G (Global).
After I rebooted the system tapping the complete notification it is stuck on the MIUI Recovery screen.
My device is not rooted. It just has received OTA updates.
I tried to reboot the system a few times, but it didn't work.
Also, I tried the safe mode, but it didn't work either.
After Reboot or safe mode, it returns to the MIUI Recovery screen.
I haven't tried the Wipe Data option because I want to back up my files first if possible.
Is there any way to back up my files or be able to fix it?
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

the only solution is enter into fastboot mode and flash stock fastboot firmware via miflash or similar tool

I tried that, but I am getting an error saying not allowed in locked state. It looks like the bootloader is locked, so I tried to use the Mi Unlock tool but I am getting error 1004. Also I tried wipe data, but it didn't work either. Right now, I don't care loss my data, I just want to have my phone back, any help is appreciated. Thanks

I have the exact same problem, after the update, lock on recovery mode, then when I tried to flash stock fastboot firmware it says that it is locked. And I also can't access Mi Unlock Tool for some reason, so if anybody has a solution to unlock bootloader I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

I got this same issue. Is there any way we can report this to mi? I don't mind if I lose my data rn, I just want this to start working normally again. someone please help if you know how to fix this

Have you downgraded? Tried to, but accidentally locked bootloader. And it shows that version I have installed isn't compatible.

I received the device yesterday, the update notification arrived and I installed it, I didn't imagine it could be a problem, I tried to reinstall the rom but the bootloader is also blocked, I don't know what else to do, I'm desperate.

Found a solution on web. If your phone is on Mediatek(I suppose all Note 10 5g are Mediatek? or no?) So, if it is, just look for an unlocker. You will also need MiFlash and I recommend to install Global MIUI 12.5.4. https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/camellian/stable/V12.5.4.0.RKSMIXM/ - MIUI

Hi guys, I just woke up and my phone was in MIUI Recovery mode, just like yours.. Probably made the update automatically.
It seems this is a recent problem for many of us. I'm nowhere near an expect but I will continue looking for the solution (if possible, without whiping out the data or at least to be able to back-it up).
Will really appreciate if somebody posts if they find a solution.
Thanks!

The only solution is to wipe the phone. I got my lesson I will buy a samsung now

Hello all,
I got the V12.5.5.0 update to on my Redmi Note 10 5G (Global).
After I rebooted the system tapping the complete notification it is stuck on the MIUI Recovery 5.0 screen.
My device is not rooted. It just has received OTA updates.
I tried to reboot the system a few times, but it didn't work.
Also, I tried the safe mode, but it didn't work either.
After Reboot or safe mode, it returns to the MIUI Recovery screen.
I have tried the Wipe Data option and it worked and got me back to MIUI V12.5.4.0. But unfornnatly i lost all my files (about 90 Gb of data).
And this is the last i install any MIUI update until i see that a lot of user's have install it review it

My Poco M3 Pro 5G Global wasn't affected.
I manually download the OTA package and installed successfully.
This phone has a/b slot.
I'm wondering those facing this issue, have you tried switching from a to b slot or vice versa?
fastboot --set-active=a
fastboot --set-active=b

i think the ota released by xiaomi is bugged. you're operation is correct, but a correct ota might do this automatically. i have noticed that many users with unlocked bootloader, after the update have phone that dont boot. i think they cant enter on fastboot mode. the only solution is flash using mediatek SP FLASH TOOL. or MI FLASH PRO. or ALL IN ONE TOOL

Was someone able to access the "Connect with MIAssistant" part using pcsuite?
I couldn't, but I think it might be because the USB cable I'm using is not the original one from Xiaomi or one compatible.

work only if you have installed also pcsuite on your device. if u have a full stock loked device only solutions are Mediatek tool or miflash pro! or all in one tool. as i said a million time already

Please help me revive my dead K20 pro! :(

Hey guys, I’ve purchased a k20 pro 6/128 variant here in Trinidad and Tobago from Let’s Talk phone company which imports phones and sell it here in Trinidad and Tobago. No one else sells the device here in my country.
When I opened my phone and started using it, I saw that it was the fake global rom which was installed on it. So I came onto here to try to flash the china firmware on it, which I did. After flashing the firmware on it, i installed twrp and wiped everything, data + cache + Dalvik Cache + System, then I flashed the EU firmware on it. After successfully flashing it I flashed magisk and some modules on it, and the phone worked GREAT! Then one day while using it the phone just shut down just like that and never booted back up. It stayed on the boot screen and did nothing!
So I tried reflashing the Chinese firmware with miflash, but this time I Accidentally RELOCKED bootloader, but when I first purchased the phone, the bootloader was already UNLOCKED. Miflash successfully flashed the chinese firmware v10.3.8.0 and the phone booted. I was RELIEVED! But after using it for a while, the phone started freezing! And their was a problem with the front camera! Somehow my front camera won't open properly, it kept saying "Can't open front camera, please calibrate".
And when I press Calibrate, popup cam goes up and down 3 times in a row and says "Can't calibrate".
So I went and request to unlock the bootloader and waited 168 hours, and in that 168 hours I left the phone untouched because it kept crashing and never boot back up unless if I go into recovery and wipe data. So I left the phone untouched for a whole week! Yesterday the waiting period came to an end and FINALLY I unlocked the bootloader! When I opened back up miflash I ACCIDENTALLY LOCKED BOOTLOADER AGAIN!!!! :’( Now Mi unlock is saying that I need to wait 30 DAYS TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER BEFORE I CAN TRY TO FIX MY PHONE AGAIN! Please help me. Is there any way to flash the firmware on a locked bootloader? i dont care which firmware it is, once my phone is working again.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated!
Only solution is to enter to edl mode by test point but its too risky or to get a mi account with edl authorization, wait till the end of 30 days and dont make the same error for 3 time.

I forgot to mention, after using miflash the last time, i flashed the indian global firmware on it using Miflash. The phone wont boot up past the recovery mode. It says "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device" in red. Tried wiping data but same results.

guess i'll have to wait a whole month then before i can use the phone. Thanks anyway
1.Go to fastboot. try flash latest chineese fastbootrom.
doesnt work?
Then you only have choice for EDL mode flash.
But edl mode requires authentification anyway which in most case you do not own..
we need something solid edl flash method.. this is common&biggest xiaomi problem

Here are the list of things i've tried thus far:
1- Tried flashing china fastboot rom 10.3.8.0 with Miflash. No luck.
2- Tried unlocking bootloader with Mi unlock. Have to wait the 30 day period.
3- Tried unlocking bootloader with fastboot commands. Didn't work.
4- Tried flashing LR twrp and unofficial twrp, No luck as well.
I've sent an Email to [email protected] couple hours ago. Waiting to hear from them.
As for edl mode, i've no idea what it is or how to even start. If someone can guide me as to what to do, i'll try it. Appreciate all the feedback and help from y'all

Now there is only one method for you, open the back cover of the fone, do test point method, flash china fastboot firmware and unlock again.

EDL mode will not work untill you have a EDL Authorized account
I had already tried and it was a bad idea to open the back cover just stick with unlocking bootloader
EDL test point will not work because xaiomi made because no body should buy Chinese Varient phone and flash global rom ,and I don't understand exactly why xaiomi did this with EDL and bootloader
Opened up the back of my phone, found the edl mode test point, miflash recognizes the device and begins flashing then i get this error "cannot receive hello packet"

but im not sure it will work ,in my case it didnt work because it had base rom of indian varient
actually chinese and indian k20 pro are not the same
for example indian k20 pro dont have NFC
but chinese varient have nfc

I have some ideas but I have not verified them. You can try to replace the recovery.img in china firmware for twrp and then fastboot flash on edl mode。if it can be done, dnot star it just into twrp and formatted data.
I will test this method on my old mi5 a little later.
To fix the front camera problem you'll have to flash the persist.img file of the 10.3.8 into the persist partition. It worked for me several times.
I accidentaly lock my bootloader, too, but I was able to unlock it right away
Don't worry mate, I had the same issue.
See this thread:

Miflash only works on an unlocked bootloader. It appears that you have a Chinese Model and you just did what was supposed to be avoided. You should get accustomed to Miflash moving forward. Never use Flash_All_Lock while cross flashing China/Global roms. You'll have to wait to unlock your Bootloader now and post that flash the China rom to get back. If any time you wish to move to the India rom, either use a twrp recovery or just use Flash_All while using the fastboot image which should eventually avoid locking the bootloader

1. if you can still enter fastboot mode, there is a possibility that you can do TWRP flashing again (the TWRP version must be correct so that the data on the cellphone can be read properly) / Flashing from the PC (if you are lucky, the flashing will work properly without any problem or you can bypass the bootloader locked using software or something else). [make sure ROM version must be appropriate because this is very crucial]
2. You can try using the test point method (EDL / Emergency Download Mode) [This method is usually used if your K20Pro is constrained by Hardbrick due to ARB4] , but this method requires you to open the case / body behind your K20Pro. and I cannot guarantee that the flashing process will succeed easily because in some cases if the K20Pro is detected damage / error due to ARB4, then you are required to have an Authorized Mi Account. I might be able to help you remotely, if you agree with the risks & requirements in the flashing process (I can lend my account, but it's not free).
Hi All, I did the same thing - whoever build the UI for MiFlash should be shot - why default that selection to something that will be undesirable!!?
Anyway, i tried to flash indian rom and forgot to set to Clean All, it locked the bootloader.
So i now have redmi recovery and Fastboot options only on phone.
Have tried fastboot + miflash but all options (now with Chinese rom) - says Erase Boot Error.
Tried MiAssistant + Mi PC Suite - it is not detecting the phone in either MiAssistant recovery mode nor Fastboot mode. what is weird is the phone and connector animation on phone is correctly depicting when it is plugged in/unplugged. But the PC suite isnt detecting the device.
Soft bricked - *sigh.... any help will be greatly appreciated from the community
BTW i am more worried that the phone will run out of battery and never wake up once battery drains completely as it is in bootloop into Redmi recovery and can't be turned off (someone tell me how!?) - I don't see the phone respond to charging in any state... : (
Can you still reach fastboot? If so you can unlock phone again and flash TWRP using ADB. After that boot straight into TWRP and connect it to your computer, internal SD storage should then automatically mount. Drag and drop ROM .zip into internal storage, use TWRP file manager to move it out of the data folder and do a default wipe using TWRP. Then flash .zip ROM (for example xiaomi.eu stable) and you should be back in business. Please let me know if you need any files like working recovery image and further instructions.
I had some trouble with my TWRP recovery yesterday, flashed it on unlocked bootloader with Chinese stable ROM installed, on reboot out of fastboot it boots straight into ROM and overwrites the TWRP recovery with default recovery. I fixed it by flashing recovery again, boot straight into it and flash xiaomi.eu stable, now recovery is TWRP and does not get overwritten.

Some great ideas - Just tried to unlock bootloader - This device came pre-unlocked so the device is tied to the seller's account.
I have unlock permission - but unlocker say device is not bound to my account matching my assumptions - anyone know what's the best way to re-claim ownership? Especially when I can't get into ROM at all?

My comment was meant for OP but I hoped it would help you as well! I am personally not well informed about the Xiaomi / Redmi ownership situation when the seller unlocked the phone.. maybe you can contact them and get a corresponding password to the account, it has been the solution I have seen offered here. Maybe the emergency flash solution from Robbo.5000 works?
I just got this phone a week now and was only able to unlock and flash yesterday, I was aware of the ownership problem thanks to this forum so I bought the sealed CN version. Hope you figure it out!
Thanks guys. I am going for the Test Point solution - have made contact with the Russian tech the others did and made an appointment. I just have to pretend to be Jerry Rig before then and open her up! Fingers crossed!

Did you flash the global rom on an existing running Chinese rom or on an empty device (formatted)? Just for myself cuz I'm not sure whether to unlock and then unable to relock. Thanks.

MI 9 Bricked After trying to change CN rom to Global rom.

Hi Guys, I hope someone of you could help me out.
Recently a Chinese friend of mine gave me an MI 9 as a present. But unfortunately they ROM of the new phone was the CN version.
I found a way to change the ROM by doing the unlock bootloader and flashing TRWP, after that, I downloaded the MI9_Global_V9.5.30_vendor_fw_flash, went back to the Recovery and wiped the "Delvik, cache, SYSTEM and Data. When I was trying to install the rom I got an error telling me the Global rom file was corrupt and restarted the cellphone.
The problem is I am stuck in the Fastboot loop, can't access the recovery and my computer don't recognize the cellphone.
I know I ****ed it up, I was wondering if I can revert that or did I just lost a phone.
Thank you Guys.

Hi,
How did you unlock your bootloader?
It asks for binding Mi account and it's not possible when your phone is bricked.
Yeah, the rule is simple. If it boots into fastboot, it can be recovered. Just flash the global you want with the MI flash tool and the fastboot file.

Guys I am too stupid for this,
I flashed the fastboot global rom in my phone with MI flash but locked it in the end (can't believe I am that retard), now I believed I have bricked it for good.
Now I can't flash the correct fastboot ROM with miflash because I have locked the bootloader while trying to flash the Global ROM. I am at the fastboot loop again.
Can I do something now or I just have a expensive paper holder?
Thank you guys.

flash another official firmware on a locked bootloader BY XIAOMI TOOL V2 https://www.xiaomitool.com/v2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMkDAxiDdKs&t=10s
Here’s something VERY important before you flash or update the ROM.
1. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Chinese market are not able to run MIUI Global ROM.
2. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Global markets are not able to run MIUI China ROM.
We highly recommend you to buy Xiaomi Phones via official or authorized sales channels and double check the system information before flashing or updating.

Hi guy,
Same thing happened to me, I felt very stupid, but it was on a MI 8 SE.
According to my experience, only there's a way to solve it and it's booting on EDL mode.
You'll need an authorized Mi account to flash the original ROM.
There's a complete guide on c . mi . com named [Guide] [All in One] MIUI Flashing Guide: Unbrick, EDL Method / Locked Bootloader, Unlock Bootloader, More, I can't post the url because I'm a new user
Best wishes!

It should recongnize with no problems.. Just check if you have the ADB drivers and try unlocking the bootloader and then flashing the Rom with the miflash tool. Still, if you have access to fastboot, things should be fine! Don't panic hahha

Read carefully and report
1. Try to hold down the buttons vol down and power, see if : fastboot devices sees it. If so XiaoMi Tool will restore it. If not do the same try recovery vol up + power. Do adb devices and see if anything shows up. Worst case you'll have to open the phone up and connect the EDL pins together and it will flash anything. I use minimal ADB and Fastboot phone plugged via USB cable into the computer and run those commands.
2. Fully bricks their device here is the unbrick factory method
https://c.mi.com/thread-1479882-1-0.html
that's connecting EDL pins with the phone case removed for a phone that doesn't boot at all
3. https://youtu.be/8mW0JzKow7E
here's the exact EDL test point required on Mi9
if you can't boot or recognize the device at all via fastboot or ADB. If this doesn't work nothing will...
But it will work, that's what the factory does. Obviously the last resort.

Mi9 Global - Accidentally locked bootloader and stock in recovery/fastboot

Hi,
Recently purchased a Mi 9 Global version, got the OTA update to MIUI 11, and everything was well. It is a superb phone, but I like to have root on my phones (mostly for Adblocking and System2, better control overall). I tried to install TWRP (custom version for Mi9) because I wanted to install Magisk/Root or try a different rom eventually. Anyway... I made a huge mistake. After trying to reboot, I noticed things had gone wrong, and was stuck in a boot loop. I guess I panicked and tried to flash the phone back to the latest global MIUI rom (Version 11, Android 10, from official site), using the Xiaomi Flash App but I did not uncheck the "clean and lock bootloader" checkbox on the bottom right of the app, which is somehow enabled by default. The flash failed at that time, for unknown reason, but it seems like it succeeded in locking my bootloader, with an empty partition, except for fastboot access and Mi Recovery module. I have to admit I've always been pretty lucky with all my previous flashes on other devices, and I guess I got a little careless. That was pretty stupid of me, in retrospect.
Since then, I am stuck in either Mi Recovery or Fastboot, and it seems that my originally Global Mi 9 with unlock bootloader has now a locked bootloader. Any attempt at either using the Xiaomi Flash utility gives me an error message ("Erase boot error"), and if I boot into Fastboot and try to flash TWRP, I get the "Remote:Erase is not allowed in Lock State" error.
From what I understand, my options are pretty limited now. The phone is still powered on, stuck in Recovery mode and rebooting every 5 or 10 minutes by itself (probably a way to avoid screen burn-in?), but I can't seem to be able to shut it down in anyway, as there are no fastboot commands to send a shutdown signal. And no matter what button combination I press, the phone always ends up rebooting.
I tried the Xiaomi Unlocker utility, but it needs the phone to be out of recovery to check the credentials binding the phone to my account. All data on the phone has been wiped already, so that's not an option. Two options I have seen :
1. Open the battery cover (required a heat gun and risky), to short some pins and try to flash while there is a short to circumvent the security. I'm not that brave yet, and since the phone is still running and has probably about 80% battery, I don't want to use a heat gun on the device.
2. Shady stuff involving paying 30 or 40 Euros to a random guy who can somehow make everything work magically by remotely logging in on my computer via Teamviewer (Not happening in a million years).
I'm wondering if there is an alternative, other than bringing the device to an official Xiaomi store (I'm in Bangkok and they do have one official shop at Fortune Town), but even then, I don't know if they'll just tell me I got myself an expensive paperweight.
Any help/insight regarding this issue would be much, much appreciated!
Have you tried to press and hold power+vol down when your device reboots? Just before it turns on.

Every possible combination on reboot will either bring me to Fastboot or Mi Recovery. I have wiped the data partition, there is no OS on the phone as of now.

Xiaomitool V2 is completely useless. The "My phone is bricked" option is not implemented, and I cannot boot into the OS, unfortunately.
To enter fastboot mode, long press the volume down key and the power key. Then unlock bootloader with Xiaomi app.

From what I understand, the "normal mode" needs the tool to be able to access the OS while it's running. I don't have an OS. I will give it a shot tomorrow (3 AM here, exhausted, and don't want to boot into Windows again!), but my hopes are not so high. Anyway, thanks for the help, much appreciated! Will let you know what happens! Cheers!

Unfortunately, this is not true. I have downloaded an old version of Mi Unlock (2.2.406.5), which is supposed to work with Fastboot mode. The result is "Couldn't unlock --> Please download the latest version". And the latest version needs to access the OS to verify the Mi account credentials. I don't have an OS installed. So this won't work. Thanks for the suggestion though!

BOOTLOOP (Cant enter recovery or fastboot) after android 11 update...

After applying the lastest update which turns out is android 11 all google apps stopped working.
When trying to downgrade i ran into the anti rollback protection when using fastboot mode (with multiple different application)
So i figured i'd flash TWRP and see if i could downgrade the rom using TWRP.
When flashing TWRP the regular way wouldn't work (TWRP wouldn't start) i used this method: https://unofficialtwrp.com/twrp-3-4-1-root-xiaomi-redmi-10x-5g/
Which includes flashing vbmeta.img and misc.bin
After doing that my phone is in a bootloop and i cant get into recovery/TWRP of fastboot anymore. So if i hold down volume up or down it just keeps rebooting after seeing Redmi with the unlocked icon on the top. There is a little vibration and then the screen then kind of fades away and it starts again...
After running into a lot of trouble with this @##[email protected]#%@ China only phone, but always being able to recover it, did i really fully brick it this time?
Use this tool and flash fastboot ROM with sp flash

Thanks mate. I cant seem to download the file, but if i could, would i have to get my phone in EDL mode to get this working? And if so, does that mean taking of the backplate and connecting pins? Or is there another method?
EDIT: HOLY CRAPOLY! That worked!!! I googled the filename to download that file somewhere else. Hi, i'm doing fine thank you
The tool Hsnmastoor linked to in this thread worked perfect for me and was quite easy to use (if you already have the other tools setup on you computer i guess)
After using that tool (to get my phone in EDL mode i think?) i was able to flash my phone back to "atom_images_V12.0.6.0.QJHCNXM_20201217.0000.00_10.0_cn_ac1b4a7af4" (fastboot image) using "SP_Flash_Tool_v5.2112_Win"
- Turn off you phone
- Start the "MTKSecBootDisableV1.0.0R001.ByMofadal" tool.
- Click "disable secure boot". It will say "waiting for bootrom usb device..." (after 1min 20 sec it will time out. click the button again)
- Hold volume up and connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable (while it's still off).
- You should see some phone info in the screen and at the bottom it says:
MTK Secure Boot Bypasss success!
now you can use SP Flash Tool or any MTK Tool
- Open SP_Flash_Tool_v5.2112_Win (flash-tool.exe)
- Download agent should already have "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin" selected. If not select it from the SP flash tool folder.
- Under scatter-loading file Select the "MT6873_Android_scatter.txt" from "atom_images_V12.0.6.0.QJHCNXM_20201217.0000.00_10.0_cn\images" (i assume you have already downloaded and unpacked the files).
- Click download and let it flash.
BTW i did it this way because my phone didnt boot anymore at all. Not even into recovery or fastboot. Maybe there is another way to downgrade (but it's probably also hard because of the anti rollback protection)
So this method works (just tested it again on my phone now that it's working normally again) but might not be the easiest.
Edit: typo

You can try. I think i got the anti rollback error when i tried that.
The method i described above works even if you pretty much mess up your phone completely, so it's a nice backup plan.

The method i described above works even if you pretty much mess up your phone completely, so it's a nice backup plan.

Ok I will try to follow your steps. I just have to see for where to go because i dont find The tool Hsnmastoor linked and for me i will study how prepare de pc to do this...but thanks a lot for all explanation about this. I dont known what is EDL mode rs (is the same thing about fastboot ? lol)
The link above also didnt work for me, but if you google MTKSecBootDisableV1.0.0R001.ByMofadal you will find other sites that host the file like: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=318638&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC
Same goes for SP_Flash_Tool_v5.2112_Win. Just google the name like that and you will find links.
Also "EDL stands for Emergency Download Mode, and it's an alternative boot-mode on all Qualcomm devices, existing even lower than the standard bootloader." So its way more basic than fastboot.

Tks for answers. Already read and really not so dificult with your guide lol. i wait 160 hours to unblock bootloader and finally try this... next week apear here to talk about this adventure. Tks a lot
There are methods/tools available to unlock bootloader without waiting. I never tried it because i also had time to wait the week.
Also i assume you can enter EDL mode and flash with the bootloader still locked. But not totally sure about this.

Hi, i did oficial upgrade to miui 12.5 and google apps work well without problems, without block. google play, play services, gboard, youtube, chrome works fine. essencial google apps already comes natively.
"comes natively"? Do you mean the ROM already has google apps installed?
Which ROM did you flash? You say upgrade, but you wanted to downgrade to android 10 again right?

yes first i wanted downgrade but my friend did update without problems. So after downgrade i upgrade official to miui 12.06, after 12.07 after 12.02 (Android 11) and finally show me the update to 12.5.2 and i upgrade. About gapps natively i see a video where a guy show that comes essencial google services
So 12.5.2 is android 11 but Google apps work for you? How did you install the Google apps? Can you link to the video?
