Samsung rolls out May 2022 security patches early for the Galaxy Tab S8 seriesWhen it comes to pushing monthly security updates, Samsung has set the benchmark high for other Android OEMs. The company’s update schedule has improved to the extent that it’s now pushing the latest Android security patches to some of its devices even before Google officially publishes the corresponding Android Security Bulletin. Look no further: The Galaxy S22 series has already picked up the May 2022 patches. Well, it doesn’t seem like Samsung is stopping anytime soon, as the Korean OEM has now started rolling out the May 2022 patches for the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup.

The Wi-Fi variants of the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8 Plus, and the Tab S8 Ultra are now receiving the new build with the version number Xx00XXU2AVD6. The size of the incremental update package is a little over 500MB. Apart from bumping the security patch level, the new firmware also brings overall performance improvements.
Similarly, the 5G variants of the Galaxy Tab S8 are getting the May 2022 patches in the form of software version Xx06BXXU2AVD6 (Xx06NKOU2AVD6 for the Korean models). The update is currently available in Korea, Europe, and a number of Asian countries.
Although not mentioned in the changelog, the new build increments the underlying bootloader version from 1 to 2. As a consequence, end-users can’t perform a downgrade and revert back to an older build after installing this update on their Galaxy Tab S8 units.
SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB S8 ULTRA
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is the top flagship tablet for 2022, bringing over top of the line display and performance in a humongous size for content creation and consumption, alongside S Pen support and several productivity features.Buy from Samsung.com
As always, the updates are rolling out in batches. You might have to wait a couple of days before the update notification pops up on your device. You can, however, skip the waiting queue and install the new release right now by flashing it manually on your Galaxy device.
At the time of writing this article, Samsung’s Mobile Security portal has not been updated with the details of the May 2022 security bulletin.

Already downloading it with Frija now.
Whats interesting is that this is before Pixel Devices and S22 Series. I have never seen it out this early before...

Got mine through OTA on my samsung galaxy tab s8 ultra.
Here in sweden
It seems samsung skipped April security patch and jumped from March to May. Which could be why galaxy tab s8 ultra got it early this time.

I'm not going to root mine. Since doing so voids the warranty and apps like secret folder, samsung pass and few more will stop working since KNOX is permanent disabled.

Hi! Not if you update it the right way. See my post above for how to find the How To Guide in this section that you need to follow in order to update and be rooted after. If you have any questions, ask (in that thread) before you make any mistakes. Good luck!

Thanks

S20 FE Canada android 11 SM-G781W

Anyone know how I could manually update to android 11 on my s20 fe? I am in canada and I believe my phone is one of the only fe models that hasnt received any updates, and all canadian phone carriers currently have no info on when they will release the update. The phone model is SM-G781W. If anyone could help me that would be great
I tried like 6 of the canadien carriers in the frija software and the latest firmware is android 10.

yes this for canadian devices, this is telus's list. however other canadian carriers such as rogers have the s20 fe listed but no planned update dates. Instead of a date like they have for the rest of the devices and the other s20 series its just a dash, no date

the last update for the s20 fe from canadian carriers was December 15th, so if those s20 models were to be assumed to include the s20 fe it makes no sense that there hasnt been an update on jan 26th right? Starting to get a lil sad

the S20 FE Canadian model is G781W.
Can we flash via ODIN or another method a US firmware like G781V or G781U? it is the exact same hardware!
I couldn't do it via Odin.

Yeah ok, changing the CSC is the easiest thing to do.
I read in December we might not get the update until near the end of February. Rogers tend to update their schedule on Friday. I'll keep an eye on their forum tomorrow.
It seems February 16 is the date according to fido's webpage
Same for Rogers
OS Upgrade Schedule
*Making sure these dates are accurate is our top priority. Sometimes things change beyond our control so all dates are subject to change. Thank you for your understanding.
communityforums.rogers.com
Rogers may be getting it today acording to the web site . Rogers, TELUS, Fido, Koodo, & Bell Android 11 update tracker (piunikaweb.com)
The updates will be released for batch wise, we do not have exact date when it will get the update.
Got above response when asked samsung on chat, kinda useless asking samsung, they should know. When asked why telus and rogers have dates not bell she didnt have a answer other than you will be notified when there is a update.

Question Did anyone get no update at all

A bit worried that all regions get an update or even more than one, and I am sitting here waiting...
S21 ultra exynos, Mena region
Am I alone?
I'm with you as well. UK, Three network and no update since AUAC just after I received the phone.
Nothing for me here in Australia yet
Same here on my US Unlocked version. I ended up just downloading the firmware manually and updated in odin without wiping.
Same, still on AUAC version, Jan security patch. There were two updates since I got the phone in the first few days of Feb.
I'm in New Zealand.
Samsung seems to do a very slow staged approach which I guess is so they catch issues before they affect too many people. But it is a bit frustrating when you really want to see the camera improvements...

I didn't even get the updates you mentioned.
Guys, be aware of the fact that it takes Samsung a few weeks (up to month) to push out each update to every supported CSC. I literally just got my update (that released on 2/11/21) about five minutes ago, lol - and that's in North America.
So don't expect to get each update with this device as soon as it launches in one specific region. You just have to wait a little longer with Samsung devices (or, you can do it manually if your update is already publicly available online).
But with all of that said, this update is only around 350mb and is listed to only contain the February 1st security update and another camera performance increase update. So no worries, people! (and someone can make a pinned post with some of this general information if they want to. This is our community development forum, and so I want people to know what's going on out there).
Not so much that, but carrier versions need carrier approval.
T-mobile US I had to search for the update but just installed it.

How? Same carrier and I've got nothing
Sadly there is NO CLEAR thread that explains in SIMPLE terms, for what exact model, what firmware version need to be installed in order to avoid data wipe.
Example XXUC = you can install only XCI, XCP, and XCR version safely without wipe.
Version IUYC = you can install only xxx, xxxx, and xxx version safely without wipe.
Every thread that i have read, looks confusing, does not state what can cause brick, what to keep an eye on, nothing!

Question CPH2173 firmware updates

So I've noticed something weird going on with the firmware of my FX3 Pro. Early April I received a firmware update with March security patch and some small fixes.
However when keeping an eye on the firmware info i noticed the date next to the firmware version is changing. So now it says 04/28/2021 while it started on 04/03/2021 but no updated firmware came by.
So why would Oppo change the date while no update came in?
I do think they should be ashamed for not providing monthly updates ( at least security patch ) as promised.
Now I don't care to much about the security patch but I'm eager to see the next firmware because latest turned out to be very bad when it comes to battery an performance.
One of the reasons Why I'm returning mine and exchanging for S21 ultra at least Samsung provide monthly updates and timely software fixes man this phone ain't even listed on the colour os firmware update page
I think there was a minor update which pushed out via the Play Strore in late April, which may be where the 28th date comes from (my phone shows the same date).
We're only 4 days into May so far, so give them a chance to get this months' update out.
(for comparison, OnePlus only "promise" 1 update every 2 months, and frequently fail to do so; and Samsung aren't anywhere near as good as they claim)
Yes, disappointing.
To clarify , what security patch is everyone on?
I have the 28/4/21 update , but that came with the March security patch.
My Samsungs and pixel are on May.
They promise monthly security updates on their website. They have failed at the first hurdle with the X3Pro. Not great going forward. Think failing that simple task is swaying me to sending it back.
( The average for my Samsungs the past 5 years is a monthly security patch on the 7th every single month and 2 other bug fix updates if they don't coincide )
My old FX2Pro is running May security patch ( my wife is using it now ) but our FX3Pro is placed behind in the line of updates.
However the security patch isn't my biggest concern, I can miss a month or two. BUT that previous update killed the performance and is eating my battery like sweet pie. On previous firmware the performance was flawless, with the latest it's bad. I'm eager for a new update hoping they will fix the issues and make my device perform again like it did when it came from the box
@patensas is your x3p still on the March security patch ?
Same march security pretty lame tbh

I've got the April update on my phone, not sure why non of you have ?
@boomdox where are you / provider.?
Hello, I'm in the UK with a Vodafone branded firmware I believe, mainly due to the vf in the firmware name. It's not heavily branded mind. I've had updates twice now in 20 ish days of owning the phone, so not sure why people are complaining, so far, the updates are in time with what my note 20 ultra gets, and this is a much better phone than that.
Where are you seeing VF in the firmware name ? I might be being blind here.....
I received the last ( April Security Patches ) on 29/4/2021
Update numbers : A16
Malaysian Version .
Top peft
@boomdox thanks. .
Now , bizarrely mine is a EE phone. But has CPW in that version. Thought Car Phone Warehouse was defunkt ?
I'm not sure to be honest, to be honest though, the branding is just the Vodafone app, and that's it's, nothing daft like with Samsung phones
user154 said:
I second this, the only difference I think Im on day 19 and I don't own a note 20. My previous phone was a pixel 4, which obviously has a much better update schedule. However this phone blows it out the water in every other way, so I'm more than happy with it.

This is already way ahead in terms of battery than my note 20 Ultra with the same battery capacity. Plus it's 100% better felling in the hand. So more comfortable.
Did get a response from Oppo about one of my "bugs". Turns out the theme store is not supported in the UK. So that's why it's empty.
I'm also in the UK, on an unbranded phone bought directly from Oppo (I've got CPW in the firmware code as well)
Still on the March security update as shown in the first screenshot

Thanks mate. Bit of searching on the x2pro and looks like, confusingly, CPW is the name for unbranded fw. Seems like it's last for updates......
Completely off topic, anyone else received there free gifts for pre ordering the x3 pro, mine has turned up today, and the box they all turned up in is amazing looks like something the YouTubers get when they do an unboxing

Yes I seen android 13 for tab s8, +, and ultra. I have the s8 plus but wifi only. In America the only way you can buy 5g sim tray is if you buy through phone carrier but then its no bootloader unlock and root. Sucks so I have to wait until wifi verison hits.
How does android 13 work on the tab?
Is it better or not?
By chance do you use viper and if so does it work on a13?
I have tried everything on a12 and nothing works. Love the tab s8 plus its better than s6 in everyway except no viper and its kills me.
So far, it's been a breeze for me. It got all the goodies from A12L, including the task bar.
One thing people are complaining about is the ability to extract text from images in the gallery, which Samsung may be pushing it strictly for a Pen feature.
A13 is solid. I've been a Beta test for the S21 series, and i can say that A13 is really stable and fluid.

It's a bigger upgrade on a phone I think. My OnePlus 8 Pro is far more stable with 13 and apps can't randomly start sending notifications after you block them. We're mostly excited to see if Samsung gave us KVM access in 13 like Google did for the Pixel so we can run Windows in an app on the tablet when we need to.

Standby battery has been good
I installed it also. Haven't noticed any difference actually. Next days will know if battery has any difference. Standby is fine.
