Question Camera Problem with/without HDR - OnePlus 10 Pro

I have a big problem with the Camera in the new Oneplus 10 pro.
Big problems taking photos with both cameras, rear & front. The Display shows a very high brightness, I can´t see the Background, worst even when I am outside or behind me is more light.
If HDR is active, the result of the photo is OK (not every time!), but if HDR is not active, the photo shows the same like on the Display --> wrong brightness and no background.
With my Oneplus 6 i always take the photos without HDR, and on the Display and the result photo were always perfect.
Here an example. with the front camera, I made a screenshot of the screen, and the result photo is correct.
Selfie with a Window behind me. What I see on the Display: I dont see anything behind me

and the result photo if HDR is active:
one more.

But sometimes the photo is not correct and the same brightness like in Display
Here, the Photo taken from my One plus 10 pro and the same photo with my old One plus 6:

Some examples, just shoot it:
Camera Preview
I've got better results in HDR as without it.. About the view in the camera app, the first shoot taken inside, the same behaviour as yours, outside, I can't see any difference between HDR ON/OFF.
I think it's just an software / algorithm issue, which should be fixed with an update.

Thanks Adnan !!!
I am happy to hear that I am not the only one with this issue......
I don´t understand why it happens. With older Oneplus (6, 7) and iphones this doesn´t happend. And the preview on the Display is almost correct like the final photo.
I hope this will be fixed soon......
Sometimes it is horrible when taking a selfie outside, you never know how good/bad the photo (and background) is

something I don´t like......
I saw dozens of reviews of the oneplus 10 pro on YouTube.....
I have NEVER seen/viewed someone talking about this Problem.

Use the phone about 1 week plus..i just realised i got this problem too.

interesting....
i would like to know.... has someone NOT having this problem? can you please check your front camera?
with other phones the behaviour is correct and you see a right preview on the display!

same result with pro mode.
to understand: result photo quality are OK. BUT, the problem is in the view on Display!

You can set exposure to be lower in pro mode etc. Okay with the settings.....

the main problem is with the front camera.....
pro mode is not available with the front camera

last update release didnt solve the problem with HDR with the front camera....

On 10 Pro camera is not good now. My favorite mod from 9 pro - xPan not working. On display i have a almost white image. Does not have 30 - 45 setting.

Yes sir
Working on PA 4.45
It's not the same as OPPOs Super Zoom, the file size is actually decreased and the resolution is decreased. However noise seems to be reduced.
Auto
Clear Image
Is there a setting for Clear Image (as I can't find one) or does it take better pics automatically?
I did some small tests and I wasn't impressed, as mentioned above, file size is actually smaller than a normal picture.
I'd imagine selecting ISO100 in settings could yield better results. (During the day)
How can you tell if clear image is enabled or is it always on a as I don't see it anywhere in any options.

Press the little wand icon and enable it as a picture mode. Then swipe through the list on the viewfinder to get to it.
Edit: Further testing seems to show that all 'Clear Image' does is reduce image noise at the cost of a small bit of resolution. So it is rather aptly named, however this may also result better low light pictures. As shown below, taken under a desk.

in the opposite, i think that your photos demonstrate great results as the noise almost dissapeared
which is outstanding for any mobile camera

I said noise is reduced, so our statements agree. However you have to factor in that this takes about 3.5 seconds to take a picture, but yes the pictures are impressive.
I appreciate the new mode for clearer images, I was hoping for something closer to OPPO's camera that creates a higher resolution image from multiple pictures or Sony's superior auto mode that over samples pictures to create one image

I just noticed that with the new Clear Image mode, all shots appear to be 4:3 even when my camera is set to 16:9 (9.7)

"The one thing this camera app was lacking is in the viewfinder — it's 2014 and the phone still shows a 16:9 live preview, but takes 4:3 photos. It makes composition a real hassle, and there's no option in the settings to change the viewfinder or picture aspect."

I am running it now, on a Oppo Find 7a with the latest CM nightly on it and it runs very fine, just like the previous version ..... BUT ...
I can not find the "clear image" mode in my list .... Between which modes is it ? I have 29 modes (auto,HDR,Smart scene etc ..
(and the stock camera app on the Oppo can do those High res pictures. )
How many modes do you have ?
Thanks, Sparcky
Hi,
Running crDroid v4, installed the apk and can only work for a few shots and it will revert back to stock CM11 camera. I even disable the stock cam and clear cache and data, problem still persist. AND, there's no Magic Wand to change settings to 'Clear Image'.

I switched to video mode, recorded a few seconds of video and switched back to photo mode. The rear camera should work, but not the front camera for me, still.
Edit: I tried again and it doesn't work, but will if you repeat the above process after clearing the app data.
if you switch to lens blur mode and then switch to front camera, you can take pictures. it would be great if front camera is fixed. this mod is great.

Has anyone got the white balance figures right for the pro? The ones listed are far too red, have reduced the red down to 90% which is a lot better but whites arent white - far too much yellow. Have tried various settings but cant get it perfect
Ok so i adjusted settings in the office, got the white where i wanted it. Went out for a walk and took a few pics comparing. Unfortunately there's still far too much blue once outside (didn't notice it under inside lights), this was with the minimum selectable at 60.

I dont think it looks too bad, the stock cam hdr is complete crap you shouldnt use it lol it looks so unnatural. I think it is colder (more blue, like taken through sunglasses) but it still looks somewhat natural. especially not oversharpened like stock cam...

Manual focus to infinity results in blurry pictures

Hi everyone,
my p30 Pro seems to have a limited manual focus range, in particular when pushing the cursor to infinity.
When I point the phone to something very far away the autofocus works well, the resulting picture is perfectly sharp.
Now if I switch to manual focus and slide the cursor all the way up, I can clearly see a difference ! It seems to be occurring only when using the main 27mm lens.
Here is an example. Left manual focus, right AF-S :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
I just updated my phone to .161, the problem still exists. I am pretty sure it is software-related as the AF works perfectly, but I didn't find anything about it through the internet.
I also tried with another app, 'HD Camera Pro', which allows to manually set the focus and it is still the same.
Any ideas ? Am I the only one ?
If I remember correctly, this "bug" was already present in the P20 Pro's Software last year. The work around was not to drag the slider to the right completely but leave a little wiggle room (like, focus to 95% of infinity). You could try if it still works.
Yep I read something about this, it happened to the Pixel 2 also if I am not mistaken ! Sadly it doesn't work for me, my focus isn't past the limit, it just can't make it to infinity ... and beyond
Could some people please try to reproduce this on their p30 pro ? If I am the only one (which I hope to be), I'll ask for a replacement of my unit ...
Have you checked if its ok if you stop short before hitting infinity?

Yes I did ! Here is the test :
The first picture is with Autofocus.
The second one is with Manual Focus, with the cursor all the way up to the maximum.
The third one is theoretically the exact same focus level as AF, as it keeps the setting when you open the Manual Focus Tab. So this one was 2 little graduations before the maximum.

Thank you ! I feel relieved in a way, at least I'm not the only one :laugh: So, I guess it is indeed software related.
Thing is, it happens with other apps I tried (HD Camera Pro, DeepSkyCamera), so I reckon the issue exists at the camdriver level...
Anyone managed to get around this issue? It's really annoying when I'm trying to take multiple pictures of the night sky, I cannot fix the focus. Auto focus keeps changing it between pictures. (I'm using an intervallometer app.).
Is there an official Huawei site to report bugs.
Thanks.
I tested this on both p30 pro and P20 pro with latest 9.1 patch, if you drag the manual focus to the top it lose all focus on both devices . So it's software related.
This is a common "issue" with lenses. AFAIK all DSLR and mirrorless lenses behave this way, no matter the price tag.

I have this problem too, I thought my phone was damaged! Autofocus gives a clear image but manual doesn't go far enough out. It happens in Filmic Pro too. Kind of disappointing that this bug exists in a phone designed around a cutting edge camera system. And why can't we use wide angle in manual mode? Or disable the EIS?
I had a LG V20 before this and it's stock camera app was soooo much better.

And if you use wide angle in Filmic Pro it is far wider. They need to give us an option to disable EIS.

There is no Pro mode for video, at least on my P30 anyway, video is it's own mode, fairly basic
Might be something to do with Android 9 though as the Galaxy S9 did have a video pro mode on Android 8, but was removed in Android 9

Thank u for info
Put your finger over one of the two lenses and switch between the 1x and 2x mode.
You'll probably find that the phone no longer switches between the two cameras because Samsung didn't fix the zoom lens in the latest update, they just disabled it entirely....
So now instead of getting a true optical 2x zoom, we get a crappy digital zoom to fake the disabled second camera.
Time for me to roll back to the August update and not update my Note 9 anymore....

The s11 is about to come out with 5x optical zoom with a 108mp camera. Time to upgrade if it's a killer camera you want.
I noticed mine also stopped vibrating, then it came back and gone again, is odd

Question Video camera cropped in on Android 12

Hi, I've run into another new issue with Android 12 and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing it. Inside the camera app, the video ends up seriously cropped compared to how it was on Android 11. Whereas before I could shoot indoor things (cat videos, etc) with the normal lens, now I'm having to go out to the ultrawide to fit things in frame. For now I'm getting around it by using a custom older version of Gcam, but I'd like to just use the normal app if possible. Is anyone else seeing this?
This is with the stock app:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Compared to how it was with Android 11 and on the custom Gcam app
As you can see, it's a significant amount of cropping. Both with the same standard stabilization enabled. (And pardon the messy desk)
I also tried installing the older 8.2 APK, but to no avail. It's older than the 8.3 that comes with the OS, so you can't go back further than that. And also my old technique for resigning apps to make the system think they're separate apps doesn't seem to be working, but if anyone could figure out a way to do that, I'm all ears.
It's normal. This how EIS works.

Did you even read? This is considerably more cropped than the same stabilization setting on Android 11. It turns it from perfectly usable to completely worthless. And if I'm recording 1080p60 or 4K, it's actually recording at less than full resolution and blowing it up, which looks terrible.
It is normal I think that is how it works.
I think I understand your question but I don't think I recorded any videos before upgrading to Android 12, so I don't have any comparison. I agree that the "1x" video on 12 has a narrower field of view than the equivalent "1x" still photo mode. Allso the video UI does not seem to have any option to disable image stabilization completely. I see that it offers .6x only for standard and cinematic pan. The other modes start at 1x or 2x, so I'm not even sure if the number always means the same sensor.
Yeah, I experienced the same issue, using exactly the same video camera settings the video on Android 12 has much narrower fov. I find it strange that no one is talking about this, maybe no one cares, but when making indoors videos it's a big deal since you have to switch to the wide angle lens, which gathers much less light.

The ultrawide camera also lacks autofocus, so if you're trying to film something close-up like a computer screen, it won't be in focus. This is definitely a major issue.
I just noticed that when you pull down the settings pane in the camera app, click "More settings", and scroll down, you can find a toggle to disable video stabilization. This gives a wider field of view and seems to show a similar lightly shaded on-screen control for stabilization. Trying to touch that control raises a hint to enable stabilization in the settings.
Are you sure that the Android 11 and custom app are enabled and not in this funny state with the partial shading of the control button?
