Folder and pictures disappeared after I tried cutting it into PC - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Hi, yesterday when I was trying to back up some of my photos, which I usually cut it from internal device to PC, during the process there was a time all the folders became "empty folders" when I looked on PC screen, I thought maybe just a preview problem that needs time to load, so I directly cut some of those "empty folders" into PC, while it takes less than 1 second, but actually it contains thousands of photos. I checked the folders on PC that are empty contains nothing, but the folders were cutted out of its original place, I couldn't see them in DCIM. When I'm checking my album on my phone screen, I can still see those folders, but the cover photo becomes unavailable, and soon it disappears from my sight.
I believe those photos are still there, they were not cut out, I think maybe just the directory or index is lost, which make them unseeable. I have tried so many different recovery software to look for those photos like DiskDigger, but still couldn't find them, any suggestions on it, what should I do, is root the final solution for it?
Thanks!
The last view of a disappearing folder looks like this:

Meh, copy not cut/paste to backup critical files.
If you need to delete the original do so after it's been successfully copied. Otherwise this will occasionally happen.
The files are there, but retrieving them may not be a doable option.

Yeah you're right, I didn't expect that, usually I just make duplicates after they are moved to PC, I think I won't use cut function so careleslly anymore, copy paste would be much better.
Do you think some software offer "Deep Scan" option that only functions with rooted devices would work?

Been there, done that.
Are you rooted? You have more options if so otherwise it's irrelevant.

No, not yet, that's why I'm here looking for answers, if it's possible I will try to root it and see.
I have also heard something like mirror the disk to PC, and then use EasyRecovery or other tools to recover on PC side, would that be possible too?

Don't know. It's not like a stand alone flash card.
I avoid getting into this situation by keeping redundant backup hdds.

Hello crosscar, try with recuva for pc you remove the sd card you put it in a flash drive.
You open recuva will ask you what you want to do then choose the sdcard put in the flash drive launch the search.

Blue Theme with Background 4 all tabs

Here it is, Of course you can change the background to your liking for all pages in the settings tab. I just took the manilla files that briannowicki posted and modified the homescreen a little to fix the clock and logo deal. Here are some screenshots as well and download. Many of the items were taken from here and xda developers site, just mixing alot of it together. I hope this helps the Imagio owners know what works and what doesn't. I don't have the software to make a cab. If you don't know how to copy to the root directory just copy all of the files in my windows folder to your windows folder. I am not taking credit for making these items, I simply spent alot of time trying to find things that will work on the Imagio TF3D version. I would gladly give credit to those who made the cabs, I just can't locate where most of them came from.

Just Copy all of the manilla files to windows directory, I placed all of them in a windows folder so you can copy the whole folder to device. makes it alot easier. Then of course soft reset the device.
Go here to get it:

Will upload and verify this works!! If it does awesome job! Thanks so much

How do you install these while they are running....gives me an error that the files are in use, even in native 6.5 mode with no TF3D loaded.

Blue Theme for all
Hi. I am new to this so please excuse my ignorance. I downloaded the zip file, in them I saw the windows folder, but there were also .cab files. Not sure where to extract the zip file, and which cab files to install. I also tried to copy the manilla files to windows folder and got warning it could damage my device.
I downloaded the zip for the icons and the slider, not sure where to extract and what to do with those.
Thanks for all the help and work you do.
I was able to get this to work, but the problem I ran into is how to get it to stop working. Some of the files were able to be uninstalled, however my phone send me a message saying "The selected program will be permanently removed. You may reload it from your desktop computer. Are you sure you want to remove it?" I touch the yes button, then about 5 seconds later it says "Co0kie 4ColumnStart&AllPrograms was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?" I click yes, and the program still remains on the remove programs option screen. The same thing happens for the KD Blue Theme Bckgrnd 4 all. ANy ideas as to how I can remove this from my phone?

Usually if you re-install then uninstall it will work.
I have two questions...
1. How did you add the program tab on Imagio, I have searched but had no luck locating how to do this...
SOLUTION FOUND 2. How did you change start menu back to default 6.5 start menu instead of the quick launch menu while in M3D.

Ubuntu does not recognise USB Memory Stick?

in the process of creating a new ROM for android.. for that I need ubunt running on my PC.. got virtual box to run it at the same time as Windows.. just up an update.zip on my Memory Stick, but can't get the ubunt to see it so that I could copy it!
Any Ideas.. sorry but I can not download the file as my Internet limit is running this month and got like 15 days to go
Thank you for Your time.
Have you enabled USB support in Virtual PC? It wont be on by default.
Or you could map the root of your memory stick as a shared folder (or even simpler, create a shared folder on your hard drive and place you files in there).

I misread your first post, sorry. Did you have a look at this? Basically you have to create the mount point. I did notice then when you create the shared folder it asks you if you want to auto-mount it, which I can only assume means the same thing, so make sure that box is checked.

I did try virtualbox, but it wouldn't boot my VMs from VM Ware, probably due to VMW Tools (it accepted the image, hung on boot), so I couldn't test that out

That doesn't matter, as long as your host OS supports the filesystem in use then so will the guest. For example I can modify files on my HFS drive from Ubuntu even though Ubuntu only supports reading of HFS drives OOTB.

ok, done everything you said so far.. however, in the shared folder options, I have no option to tick Auto-mount.
Also, when I try to type the 'sudo....' into the terminal,, it always comes up with 'Could not find your command' or something like that..
Thank you for Your help!

I didn't realise this before but guest additions is a prerequisite for using shared folders (figures, really) so make they're installed.
Second, check that your virtualbox is up to date, I know mine is because I downloaded it yesterday, perhaps the auto-mount option is a new feature.
If not you'll have to do it manually, there are loads of guides around which provide the commands to create the mount point.

[Q] Has the Android ID/IMEI problem been solved?

I was a bit hesitant to flash originally, due to the large number of threads that talked about getting one's Android ID or IMEI wiped clean. But as I go back and scan the threads, they are all from more than a couple months ago. I never saw a definitive answer about what causes you to lose these "quite important" numbers. Did someone figure it out? Or was it just that the earliest ROM's were flashing things they weren't supposed to, and now everything is fine. Or was it something in Odin? (I have to say I'm a bit hesitant to Master Clear).
I hesitate to flash much, not knowing yet if there is still a problem that I'd have trouble recovering from. I did back up my efs folder to the computer, and supposedly that will allow me to recover things, but I'd still prefer the option that doesn't wipe out any chance of me getting the phone back to initial conditions, just in case...
Did this get solved, or is there still a vague, tiny but non-zero risk of wiping out the wrong thing in the flash process? Or can Odin always get you back if you can get into download mode?
To my knowledge it's not really an issue, as long as you backed up your efs folder, which you said you did. So you should be good to go.
Your product code will be changed if you flash an i9000 rom, but your IMEI number should still be intact. Your product code should not effect the function of your phone unless your using kies.
For some strange reason your IMEI number does change, well, that's why we have a backup of your efs folder. You'll copy over your nv_data.bin file over with root explorer or similar program, and delete .nv_data.bak, .nv_data.bak.md5 and the nv_data.bin.md5 files.
I'm still running a generic IMEI number on my phone with no issues, and do have a backup of my efs folder. Just lazy, I guess, in not restoring the original IMEI number
so where is this backup located?

Those .bak files are contained within the live /efs. You should be able to use those to get back to the correct product code as they seem to have the correct captivate product ID. Make a backup immediately and move it off of the phone. The backup was probably put on your internal SD card but your master clear for sure wiped them.

[Q] Rescue me from Titanium Backup

Long time forum fan, first post! I'm a little scared from that registration video, but here we go: After rooting my phone, I did a complete backup with Titanium Backup before deleting all kinds of Verizon and Motorola bloat. Now my Droid 3 is experiencing the hardware keyboard repeating space thing described in many other threads. One of the solutions I read about was to try the new OTA update, but I also read that this requires all the bloatware to be back where it was when I got the phone. So, I went in to Titanium Backup and managed to restore a few of the files, but most of the time, when I try to restore a file, I get the little spiny animation forever. I've tried a couple different Busybox versions, direct access and indirect access. Nothing seems to help. In the future I plan to explore other backup solutions, but for now, I'm stuck with all these backups I can't restore. So, now I guess I need to know a way to manually restore the backed up files. Any ideas?
Try Pete's Root Tools and there is a restore system app option
So that app will use the titanium backups? Happen to have a link for that app?
Its not an app, you connect your D3 to the computer and run the batch script. I cant post links cuz I'm on my phone but i believe Pete posted it in a thread called "unroot" i'll edit my post if i can find it.

Hi there,
How do I execute the tool?

Edit- I get a message saying the files must be saved in a /restore/ folder but I can't figure out why my windows XP (32 bit) wont let me use a "/" to create a file??
Am I missing something?

/ indicates file path. You dont need to type it into the file name. Just place the restore folder inside of the main folder, and extract all the apk's to it.

The directory you run the tool from to restore the system apps should look like this:
Also, if you are on XP, make sure you are using the file for XP (found here: http://www.psouza4.com/droid3/) and not the one for Vista/7 that I linked to in my original post.
Thanks for the reply.
The Win 7/Vista version installed and launches on my XP machine and gives me the restore option pictured in your post.
The XP version you linked me to does not include the restore function (as far as I can tell).
Can I try using the 7/Vista file or will it bork my phone.
Also, will this wipe my phone?
TIA
Please, cant download DROID3_original_system_app.zip anyone has it??

[Q] $ 50,- reward (real) (data loss)

Hi All,
After update to Lollipop 5.0.2 I lost some audio files.
The update to 5.0.2 was a normal "update" so I had no idea I was going to lose data, and I did not make an additional backup.
As it turns out, I'm not the only one who is missing some files. A friend of mine lost almost all downloaded MP3 songs.
For me it's not something I downloaded, but recorded. It's a few .wav files, and I really like them back!
And Yes, I'm willing to pay for it.
I have a HTC M8, but during root process, I saw it was telling me it's a M7 (???)
So, the phone is rooted.
I tried several recovery solutions (all just reading, not writing) and some can find some files, like a facebook .png that I recognise.
This means, there is still (useful) data on there.
How can I recover my files?
Is this just a HTC problem, or are there also other phone vendors who delete user data?
I hope.... and pray... and ask here

Yes, I have.
I am confused with the files it finds.
A lot of files, Some corrupt, not yet of it useful data for me.
I do know quite a bit about data recovery on a normal hard drive, but almost no info how it works on NAND flash.
dr.fone also found some files:
I was not aware I had 105 times a .mov files on my phone, 3,5 GB... I did not make them, or download them.
Diskdigger "Helps".
This does find files, but also loads of files I was not aware of. (and not the files I need)
A lot of .zip files, and the strange thing is that they all seem to have the same data structure. (see zip.jpg)
Can any one tell me why I have all them .zip files and apk's?
Thanks!
