(X01AD) Valid Relocker for Bootloader - Asus Zenfone Max M2 Guides, News, & Discussion

Dear forum users, I am glad to present you several guaranteed ways to lock the bootloader on Asus Zenfone Max M2 (ZB633KL, X01AD).This completely solves the "Red State" problem, allows you to return to stock with a successful SafetyNet tests/Google Play Certified (only A9 and A10, not A8.1). In addition, this will allow you to lock the bootloader on any custom (if for some reason you need it).
If you want to go back to stock using a service (Fastboot) ROM.1. Download the latest stable (78) Rom from Asus server or from hosting.
2. Unzip and put the img folder in the root of the disk.
3. Copy the vbmeta.img file from the attachments to the img folder, agree to replace the file.
4. Start flashall_AFT.cmd
If you are already on stock (Android 9, 10)1. Download Relocker_Ultimate_X01AD.zip from attachments, unzip.
2. Run scripts "Step 2" and "Step 3".
A suitable vbmeta will be flashed and the bootloader will be locked. Data may be lost.
If you are on LineageOS 18.1 or ArrowOS 12.1:1. Download Relocker_Ultimate_X01AD.zip from attachments, unzip.
2. Run scripts "Step 1" and "Step 3".
A stock recovery from 78 service firmware will be flashed and the bootloader will be locked. Data may be lost.
If you are on any other custom ROM:1. Download Relocker_Ultimate_X01AD.zip from attachments, unzip.
2. Run all three scripts in sequence (Step 1-2-3).
A suitable vbmeta and a stock recovery from 78 service firmware will be flashed and the bootloader will be locked. Data may be lost.
NOTICE: If you try to change to another stock Rom via recovery or OTA update, you will get a Red State error. Therefore, I recommend installing the latest 78 service firmware.
If suddenly something did not go according to plan during the relock process, there is unlock.cmd inside the archive.

[Q] Mismatched BL and FW. Freezes all the time. What to do?

I got myself in a situation where I have the mismathched FW and BL versions:
bootloader: US_epad-10.26.1.7
firmware: JSS15J.US_epad-10.26.1.18
I have CM11 on, but it seems to freeze (almost always if I don't interact with the tablet for 5 seconds or so).
I am able to install jb-4.3_ota-full_tf701t-macallan.zip, but it exibits the same freezing behavior as CM11.
I figure, I need to get the .18 BL on it somehow, but am not sure how.
A few questions:
1. Is there a way to figure out what the SKU is (other than looking at settings->about->software)? I got the device from bestbuy.ca (Canada).
2. How do I get the correct version of BL on the tablet?
Other stuff:
I cannot install UL-K00C-WW-10.26.1.18-user.zip or UL-K00C-US-10.26.1.18-user.zip through CWM. The following error shows up: asset_failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") == "K00C" || ...
You and I seem to have essentially the same problem.
Looks like the answer is over here.
From what I can tell, here's what we both need to do:
Download your stock firmware package.
Extract the zip to get a file named UL-K00C-WW-10.26.1.18-user.zip (or UL-K00C-US-10.26.1.18-user.zip for my SKU, I suppose)
Place this file on /sdcard/ in the root directory through MTP
Download stock recovery
Place stock recovery.img into the fastboot.exe folder
Plug in, put the tablet, boot to fastboot mode
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
The Android on his back should appear and the tablet will flash to fully stock bootloader and firmware 10.26.1.18 using the ASUS system update.
Should now be fully stock and updated.
But I can't verify these steps will work until I get to try them myself. I'm downloading my firmware right now, but ASUS's servers are giving me <40kb/s, so that's not going to work. Meanwhile I don't see a live link anywhere to recovery.img.
If you can get either of those files for me, share them and I'll risk my tablet trying the steps above...
Finally got it working by using the SD card update method. To me, the most helpful thread was this one. Particularly useful was the summary post at the very top of page 10 by JoshReuben.

How to update firmware with TWRP installed?

So I unlocked my bootloader and installed TWRP on the p20pro. Just received status that there's full update available. I downloaded and try to install, but the phone would boot into recovery and nothing happens. How should I go about updating the firmware on the device with TWRP?

Either reflash the stock recovery or keep TWRP and use HuRUpdater Tool (search for it here on XDA)

Hi.Same issue. Does reflash stock recover wipe all my datas ?
How to use HuruUpdater as ther current TWRP does not allow to access on local files (no decryption).
THanks
JP
here's the details
- Unlock bootloader from Huawei : http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/index
- (It's still possible to unlock the bootloader. Just send an email to your local support or tweet them (HuaweiUK). They'll ask you for some info and send you the unlock code. Took me two days to get the code)
- TWRP : https://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...2-1-0-t3779400
- hurupdater_0.3.zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...overy-t3769279 also works perfectly for P20 Pro
Magisk file (if you want to get rooted) https://******************/Magisk/Magisk-v16.0.zip
Now, get patient, an old man did it!
In future direct links for our CLT-L29 european(C432)..
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-databa...irmware_page=0
Click on FullOTA-MF (only!) and click on filelist I had to click several times on filelist to get the links to the 3.zip files needed (thinks to Tecalote for his patience!)
So, the difficult part was to rename the.zip files( I went to #32, page 4 and renamed exactly like it was : Download firmware files (for official firmware use Huawei Firmware Finder).
1. Put files you want to flash in a seperate folder on sdcard.
Supported zip files to flash are (name must match):
o update.zip (use FullOTA file)
o update_full_hw.zip
o update_data_full_public.zip
2. Optional: Put recovery.img (rename your TWRP downloaded "recovery_ramdisk twrp_clt_0.1.img") in same folder if you want to keep custom recovery.
3. Put HuRUpdater zip in same folder. Example:
4. Select only HuRUpdater to flash in custom recovery.
5. Follow instructions on screen. Flashing can take multiple minutes.
Then I followed exactly step by step.
It didn’t work and I had error messages flashing with hurupdater_0.3.zip:
No update_data_public.zip found in /sdcard/”name of your folder”
No update_all_hw.zip in /sdcard/”name of your folder”
As you can see the name of the .zip files did’nt match #32.
I renamed exactly as asked to get rid of the error messages, and BINGO!

Update CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432) with TWRP already installed
Update CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432) with TWRP already installed
Hello,
Many thanks to all of your for your kind support , so I intend to create a summary of what I did, hoping it could help others !
I had already unlock previsouly my Bootloader (of course, else this topic would not exist) via Unlock bootloader from Huawei :https://emui.huawei.com/en/unlock_detail
I already had TWRP and Magisk installed and wanted to get the latest official firmware for my P20-PRO-CLT-L29(C432) - > CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432).
When intending to update (from my phone), it could not work (I allways boot back to TWRP), upgrade failed.

Start with : Do your Backup !
Removed then all security (screen unlock in developper mode =0) , no pin, no pattern, no password, no fingerprint, no faceunlock
Download the following set of files (that I've uploaded and ready to use) : https://mega.nz/#F!pEpRDB7R!pmPDjlqgtdHTs39gyLdJhg
(nota : my upload is quite slow, so please wait some hours before it is available)
It contains : HuRUpdater_0.3.zip, Magisk-v16.4-Beta.zip, twrp_clt_0.1.img, recovery.img
, update.zip, update_all_hw.zip, update_data_public.zip
- On your phone create a folder including all files from the package above.
- Boot in TWRP
- Install : HuRUpdater zip from the folder where you had put all files (no issue with decryption, at least in my case)
Nota : I had almost an heart attack during installation as it did a reference to CLT-09... not CLT-29 but it works and this despite some strange error messages.
When achieved : wipe/cache dalvik.
Phone will reboot and optimize the apps.
In my case, I lost my root access and TWRP, so I've done it again, but normally it was supposed to stay when using HurUpdater
Install TWRP (again if needed) :
- Start your device in fastboot mode
- Install the recovery using the following command : fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_clt_0.1.img
Restart with this command: fastboot reboot
Important : As soon as you execute the restart command, remove the USB cable and keep pressing Volume UP, so the device will boot to TWRP. This is to avoid that the device boot to OS,overwritting TWRP recovery.
Reboot again in recovery
(re)Install : Magisk-v16.4-Beta.zip
Have fun,
JPh

THANK YOU! THIS WORKED SO PERFECTLY!
Until now, I tried the following:
Back up my data and apps to SD card with EMUI Backup App
Download OTA update (it first downloads the incremental ~100-200MB update) and click install
This doesn't work of course - TWRP tries to execute the update command but dies with error messages
Reboot, try downloading/installing updates again, the downloader then downloads the -FULL update
Extract recovery.img from update.zip>update.app
Flash stock recovery over TWRP
Initiate update again from Update App (System Settings)
Update runs smoothly, but bootloader is locked again afterwards
Restore from backup, flash TWRP again, flash SuperSU again
BUT THIS IS MARVELOUS! I will only lose SuperSU and Xposed, and given that HuRUpdater is provided with the correct filenames including TWRP renamed to recovery.img, I will just have to install SuperSU and Xposed again after updating the firmware.
It worked flawlessly with the stock firmware files from update.hicloud.com, and you'll usually find all the links a few hours after the release somewhere on the internet.

I have a few questions regarding this method to update :
Do I need to make a new backup using twrp after this update since the system files changed due to the update? (correct if i'm wrong i'm a previous iphone owner this my first android device)
Is the any method to force update 8.0 even it will erase every thing and after that just flash twrp and restore backup (i think all the methods mentioned are complicated for me)

Hi, I have the same problem but with my Huawei P10Lite WAS L1XA with firmware oreo installed from the phone and on reboot enters twrp mode.
Can I ask you to look for the files for my model?
(I spent three hours looking for those files but I could not find anything) ...

Is there a step by step tutorial on how to root US version of ROG2?

Any thread that shows how to update to latest firmware and have root on WW rom or US version?
I know I have to patch the boot img through magisk. But how can I get the boot img? I have the US version and my build number is different from everything listed on ASUS website.
I don't see that firmware on the Asus site, maybe it never auto updated on initial setup. I rooted on 1907.33 firmware so maybe try updating to that then root.
1. Download firmware WW-16.0622.1907.33 from Asus to the root of your phone (take it out of download folder and put directly in internal memory no folder)
2. Reboot the phone, upon reboot you will be asked to install the updated firmware. Install and reboot.
To root;
3. Sign out of google account
4. Download and install Asus bootloader unlocker apk HERE
(this will wipe your device so backup anything you need on the phone first. Also the phone may boot twice DO NOT press power button to pause the boot process)
5. Now your bootloader is unlocked and 1907.33 firmware installed you can follow this guide to root the device. (since you are on 1907.33 start at step 4. Only do steps 4-7 in this guide)
To udate to latest firmware;
6. Delete the previous firmware 1907.33 you just downloaded on internal memory. Download the new WW-16.0631.1908.12 and put it in internal memory no folder.
7. Follow this guide HERE

[GUIDE] [WIKI] [Realme XT] Unlocking, Unbricking, Custom recovery, GSI guide and more

Realme XT Wiki
For convenience : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=304989
First things first.
DISCLAIMER : Use this guide at your own risk. I won't be responsible for you bricking your device due to following this guide. It's also necessary to back up your data before you attempt anything.
Realme XT is not really a developer friendly device as they claim to be for the following reasons.
- Bootloader restricts flashing critical partitions and certain fastboot options are disabled like
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
- The flash tool is only available to service centres.
- Kernel sources are not actively updated by realme.
- Nil response to developer's queries.
Code:
[B][U]Table of contents :[/U][/B]
- Unlocking the bootloader
- Unbrick guide
- TWRP guide
- Upgrade guide
- Downgrade guide
- Project Treble for Realme XT
- Links
For unlocking the bootloader, follow the official instrutions from here :
https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1184740422732218368
As of 28/03/20, you can unlock the bootloader in Realme UI. The official guide for XT is still not updated by realme, but the bootloader unlock app tool that was released for realme3pro works for XT.
UNBRICK GUIDE FOR REALME XT : (FASTBOOT)
Most bricks that happen with devices are softbricks. This means you can boot into stock recovery using key combination or you can access fastboot.
Hardbricks are where your device basically does nothing no matter what you do.
If you are on Color OS 6 or realme UI on locked bootloader :
- Switch off your device
- Press volume up + power button hold it until it finishes starting up.
- You will see the recovery menu now
- Press online update and connect it to wifi and follow instructions
If you are on color os 6 on unlocked bootloader :
Prerequisite:
1. You need to have unlocked bootloader
2. Platform tools setup and added to system environmental variables under windows
OR
Just install this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Since custom ROMS don't deal with critical partitions, there is very less chance that the critical partitions are messed up. Majority of the times you would be fine with just flashing the boot image, system image, vendor image, vbmeta.
Instructions for color os 6 (Android pie firmware) :
Download the stock pie A16 fastboot image from the links section and extract it :
Just flash by executing the following commands :-
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
fastboot flash oppo_sec oppo_sec.img
fastboot flash modem modem.img
fastboot flash splash splash.img
fastboot flash DRIVER DRIVER.img
fastboot reboot
If you are on Realme UI on unlocked bootloader :
Prerequisite :
Download the stock Realme UI fastboot image from the links section and extract it :
Note : The zip file has other partitions too. Hopefully, you shouldn't need them.
Just flash the boot, system, vendor and vbmeta by executing the following commands
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
fastboot flash oppo_sec oppo_sec.img
fastboot flash modem modem.img
fastboot flash splash splash.img
fastboot flash DRIVER DRIVER.img
fastboot reboot
Guide to Custom Recovery:
Prerequisite:
1. You need to have unlocked bootloader
2. Platform tools setup and added to system environmental variables under windows
OR
Just install this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
TWRP Recovery
Orangefox Recovery
Instructions to install TWRP recovery:
Run this command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
You can install orangefox recovery by flashing it via TWRP recovery or by extracting the recovery.img from orangefox recovery.zip file.
Upgrade guide :
You can always find the latest update from here : https://www.realme.com/in/support/software-update
Upgrading from android pie to android 10 carries the risk of bricking your device. Be it locked or unlocked. Thus proceed with caution and ONLY use stock recovery to update from android pie to android 10.
If you are on locked bootloader,
Step 1 :Simply download the update of your choice from the Links section and try to open it in stock file manager.
Note : If it doesn't show the update option in stock file manager, just rename the file from *.zip to *.ozip and try again
Step 2 : Press reboot immediately after the flashing is done
Step 3 (Very important) : Pray that everything works. Bricks can happen to anyone.
If you are on unlocked bootloader,
Step 1:In case you already have TWRP working on pie, simply flash the official stock android pie A16 through twrp and let it boot.
Step 2:Now, let it fully boot into the system
Step 3: Go to stock file manager and follow similar instructions as is for locked bootloader that's written above.
Downgrade guide :
Prerequisite:
In case you are in realme UI (Android 10) and want to roll back to android pie for any reason, you need to backup your data and flash stock pie A16 via TWRP
Step 0 : Back up your data and download stock A16 firmware from the links section below
Step 1 : Go to TWRP and flash stock pie
Step 2 : Flash stock pie again
Step 3 : Format data and reboot
Project Treble for Realme XT :-
You could refer here for what works and what doesn't
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/realme-XT
Prerequisite :
1. You need to have unlocked bootloader
2. Platform tools setup and added to system environmental variables under windows
OR
Just install this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
3. You need to be on realme UI (Android 10)
Typically, you could install GSI without even using TWRP.
Step 1: Download any A/B arm64 GSI of your choice
Step 2: Erase userdata using the command
Code:
fastboot -w
Step 3: Flash system.img using fastboot command
Code:
fastboot erase system && flash system system.img
Step 4: Flash RUI vbmeta with flags
Code:
fastboot flash --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta vbmeta.img
Optional : Flashing TWRP helps with installing magisk and device specific treble fixes and is highly recommended.

My device bootloop'ed after following your downgrade tutorial. Tried boot unbrick it like your tutorial to no avail
Anyone who is now used to with this device and have done all these steps from Unlocking bootloader to flashing recoveries to installing custom & Stock Roms, can you please tell me what are the senarios in which this device can brick and only restored by Realme service center? I mean what possible error we can make that gives error of boot/recovery destroyed and only needs to visit realme service center?
I am very new to realme, before getting started with unlocking bootloader, i want to be sure about my steps, actually all i need is to use titanium backup for old data transfer of apps, my phone records etc, and most importantly using viper4android. This is all i am going to do after unlocking bootloader.

Hi, anybody can help me? I want to sell my phone so i wanted to flash stock rom and lock the bootloader. But i dont find any post or something like that to do so... Do you know how can i flash the stock rom and relock the bootloader like we can do with xiaomi phones?

Alcatel possible brick! Recovery possibilities?

Hi everyone!
I think I managed to brick it... Can it be recovered from this?
Model Alcatel 1SE 5030D
Idea was to get it rooted...
I managed to finally unlock the bootloader.
I unpacked the official rom with SPD Tool and then patched the boot.img with magisk in order to flash it with fastboot.
Once this done, phone rebooted and is stuck at the very beginning.
It goes no further than the screen with alcatel logo and powered by android with the message of "lock flag unlocked" at the top left.
Cannot reboot to recovery or fastboot.
Cannot be recognized by windows or linux.
Thank you in advance.
the boot.img is embedded to the rom, sometimes as a payload.bin or an encrypted file (Inside a scatter file) , usually located in /dev/mtd/ or /system/bin , and so on .
To READ the encrypted Boot.Img from the Rom you actually need to read The SCATTER FILE, SPD TOOL, or SP Flashtools are the tools that help you -- LOAD THE ROM and read the scatter file. You could open a whole rom on your own and browse the files inside and you will never find the boot.img , you have to open the rom as a scatter file, as far as i know.
With root you can actually extract the boot.img file if you know the location of it for example:
dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd2 of=/sdcard/boot.img
or
dd if=/dev/block/***** of=/sdcard/boot.img

The problem with these devices is that they dont accept flashing anything into it besides system.img
To allow to flash recovery.img or boot.img , you'll have to input special codes with a special software from the Alcatel Company (we don't have those, cuz they're not leaked)
What you did was trigger a lock, a block to the phone by trying to bypass that security code they placed onto the device.
You took the boot.img out, patched, and then placed back inside/reflashed it as an individual file, with spd tool or adb, if you did with a flashing tool then, this triggered the security of the phone, and maybe other img's got patched and flashed too (or corrupted) such as recovery.img, boot.img, vendor.img , product.img , etc etc, (these are all just regions of the ROM read through the scatter file) ( i guess this locked ur device)
Repairing it :
1) IF YOU can still access into fastboot mode (bootloader) somehow.
** I think just reflashing a new ARM ROM compatible with ur storage partitioning can fix it
(A only or AB )
(try booting the phone and then connecting it to the usb cable , to the pc, and doing
command: fastboot reboot bootloader
or fastboot devices
if you're lucky and its detected , or goes into bootloader you can just do fastboot flash systyem /name/of/rom.img
and this could flash a new rom and revert the boot.img, recovery and everything else to default
thus helping you boot ur phone again.
2) If you can't even access recovery or bootloader (fastboot mode)
** What i think you have to do to repair it is the following, REFLASH the full rom again onto the phone with sp-flash tool
GET the UNPATCHED Boot.img (i hope you made a backup of it), get the whole intact rom, (or any other compatible working rom) the scatter file intact and reflash the WHOLE full rom back again with SP FLASH TOOL
(forget about Placing the PATCHED boot.img in the scatter file) we wanna use the unpatched files, all virgin.
SP FLASH TOOL gives you an option to reflash A WHOLE ROM, i suggest to try reflashing the stock ROM (considering its good) or Reflash another Android ARM AOSP ROM, you can find plenty here in XDA, i can give you links (make sure to HAVE A GOOD ROM this could also be the reason your phone got corrupted, the boot img and files you were handling were probably already corrupted or flashing them simply broke the security code thats about it) that is why you want a ROM that is known, and good for any phone/tablet, preferrably with the same chip as yours or with enough reviews or comments from others, 90% of the roms we can find in google have viruses or are corrupted, specially considering its ALCATEL no one handles this, AND WE ALWAYS WANT TO MAKE SURE OUR PHONE ACCEPTS recovery.img, boot.img , etc without trigering any security codes, if you extracted your own ROM/stock firmware then its alright, thats fine. but you forgot about the security codes, you triggered those i think. Make sure that scatter file loads into SPFT without error, SPFT checks the PRELOADER and DSP_BL and if they aren't in the scatter directory, it will fail and maybe crash. the regions/files can get corrupted. Everything is in green, everything is setup, then you can click " Flash whole rom " this is what you need i think that way you revert everything to default , Boot.img, recovery.img all of it that got locked (you triggered the security code, i think so, because if it wasn't so , it would just boot loop, since yours boot loops and then WARNS you, it means you triggered some code or corrupted something)
3rd option return that Alcatel Toaster, to the company and pay them to repair it , cuz they have the softwares to do all this in just a few clicks.
The issue is the company, they suck hard, and all phones they make are low quality phones .
