[ANDROID12] [ONEUI 4.1] I'd like to know how to unlock the bootloader. - Samsung Galaxy M21 Questions & Answers

I already have developer options, do I just tick OEM unlocking and that automatically unlocks the bootloader? Or do I need to hook my phone up to a PC? Or is there another way to unlock the bootloader on the phone without needing a PC?

You enable OEM unlocking, turn the phone off, press and hold volume up + volume down and connect it to a PC, then follow the on-screen instructions.
There's no TWRP for M21 A12 yet, so you can't do much unless you downgrade to A11 first.

Actually, I updated the firmware the other day and tried again and A11 TWRP seems to work on A12. I'm now using TWRP 3.5.2 with the latest A12 base (M215FXXU3CVH1) running crDroid 8.9 GSI.

Power Button Problem

anyone know how to fix power button not working? i don't know how can this happen before but my volume button is working and i can go into recovery mode with vol button + power buttom and still the power button still not working, i cant turn on/off my phone with that and i can't even lock/unlock my device with that.. please help!
Can you turn on your phone using power button or just go to recovery? If yes that means it works, so it's just time to change your ROM. Follow guides.

If you can go in recovery that means there is no physical problem but just software error, so:
I recommend you to use last build of Lineage Os 14 (or another Nougat based ROM).
In recovery TWRP (last update):
Wipe system, data, dalvik, cache
Install latest MIUI China Dev zip
Install Lineage Os 14 (or another Android 7 custom ROM)
Install Gapps arm64 7.1 Pico
Install Magisk or Su Extra package for Lineage if you want root.
If the button still doesn't work, flash through PC latest China dev fastboot ROM version following the guide on MIUI official site.

[GUIDE] Root Galaxy A50s with Magisk v19.3 ( Custom Channel Update )

This Root method use Custom Channel Update for Magisk v19.3 by patching to AP tar file. Magisk v19.3 worked stable on Galaxy A50s. As we know latest Magisk version v20.x did not work for Galaxy A50s with random bootloop problem. We can not install Magisk v19.3 normally wihout TWRP recovery, but with Custom Channel Update make it possible. Follow these steps:
1. Download the firmware Galaxy A50s that match with your A50s Model number.
2. Unzip the firmware and copy the AP tar file to your device. It is normally named as AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5. Copy 3. AP tar file and MagiskManager.apk to your phone.
3. Install Magisk Manager on your phone
4. Open Magisk - Settings - Update Channel select Custom in the custom URL write "https://github.com/topjohnwu/magisk_files/raw/3dec54c8a850660e3420f7668c7fb6dc8f7c199b/stable.json" then refresh Magisk by switch down the screen.* You will see Latest magisk is v19.3.
5. In Magisk Manager: Install → Install → Select and Patch a File
6. Select the AP tar file. Magisk Manager will patch the whole firmware file and store the output to [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.tar. Copy magisk_patched.tar the tar file to your PC
7. Reboot to Bootloader: Turn Power Off. Press and hold Volume Up key + Power Key, When Samsung Logo appears release Power Key only, keep pressing Volume Up key until Android Recovery Mode Appears. Select Wipe data / Factory reset. Select Reboot to bootloader. Connect the phone to PC using USB Cable.
8. Make sure the boot loader are unlocked ( OEM options is enabled with grey color )
9. Flash magisk_patched.tar as AP in ODIN, together with the BL, CP and HOME_CSC files.
Important: check “Auto Reboot” and "F. Reset time" only in Options!
10. Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device!
11. After the device is booted up, do the usual initial setup. It need more time and patient.
12. Connect the phone to Internet, if you see Magisk Manager installed, you must uninstall it.* Then Copy Magisk Manager apk file to your phone and install it.
13. Open Magisk Manager. It will ask to do additional setups. Let it do its job and the app will automatically reboot your device.
14. Done! Your phone root with Magisk v19.3, Enjoy!
Magisk v19.3 worked stable on Samsung Galaxy A50s, watch this video below for visual guide

MIUI 12 Root

Hi, everyone, I'm on MINE 12.0.1 Stable Global. The bootloader is unlocked. Is it possible to proceed to root like on MUI 11? I install TWRP recovery and then Magisk? Or is there something different to do? Thank you in advance...
If you install TWRP, you need to flash DFE afterwards to boot.
After a successful boot, reboot to recovery and flash magisk.

Got it from xeu telegram channel. To know more, join there. Also, flash this at your own risk.
Couldn't upload directly, here's gdrive mirror.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NctBFGwuT3X766mXGFTUxZeSZ5ipLFC2/view?usp=drivesdk
Procedure
The procedure is very simple. DFE or OFOX are NOT required. I flashed TWRP on an encrypted device and boots as expected.
1. Install ADB DRIVERS and download PLATFORM-TOOLS and TWRP. Also download Magisk and move it to the phone.
2. In Developer Options Enable USB Debugging, then reboot to fastboot (Vol Down + PWR Button).
3. Connect the device to PC. Extract the platform tools folder and in it press Shift+Left Click and open a powershell window. Type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.4.0-1-raphael.img
4. Reboot directly to TWRP (Vol Up + PWR Button).
5. From there flash magisk, and reboot to system.
6. Come back here and hit that thanks button. :good:
No need of flashing DFE. After installing TWRP boot directly into TWRP and flash latest Magisk. Then you can boot normally.
Ok, than is like on MiUI 11, right? Thanks!!!

Question How to flash gsi without twrp?

Sorry Im new in xiaomi modding,is there a way to flash gsi without twrp?,can I flash gsi from fastboot?
yes, via fastboot. the command is flash system system.img (replace system with the name of the rom). connect to nippon gsi telefram Channel. you can find a large choice of ported rom from xiaomi devices. but i'm not sure vendor are fully compatibile with mediatek. but you can try. flashing system don't damage the bootloader. so you can reflash easy stock in case of problems

no... my phone is 3 days old. First i want to test miui. and i think this phone will recive miui 13. so at now i don't want to do heavy modding. only debloating. i like miui. aosp rom have bored me. on my old mi A3 i have try many gsi also android 12 beta. but mi a3 is not an mtk phone. so the only way to know if gsi works is try. i'm quite sure that many gsi will boot. i think the gsi much compatible are note 8 ported
Installed android 12 gsi via dynamic system update. Requires a unlocked bootloader.
Note that my phone has dm-verify corrupt on boot, but still works. The dsu loader seems to be functional. You would have package custom gsi's to load via dsu.
But being able to duel boot std ROM + gsi ROM is a win

if dsu work well, is the best safe way to try a12. great tips!!!!! sometimes gsi are not fully compatible with vendor. and in particular MTK devices are not modding phones. 99,9% of dev hare on snapdragons. maybe if xiaomi will launch more mtk devides out of China, the situation could change. But in my opinion MIUI don't need to be modded. only debloated and unlocked. Our phone sure will recive miui13 based on A12. I have tryed aosp beta, and the dynamic theming is a fantastic function. implemend on miui will make this rom super cool

using a gsi is safe to prevent big damage. because flash only system partition. probably you didn't read guide with attention. modding must do carefully. i suggest you reflash stock in edl mode. is the only solution

Should that be 'fastboot flash recovery' ??

There no recovery partition so it shouldn't. I'm on this ROM currently and have no problems with installation. The guide says that you need to be on latest global a11 miui (12.5.16.0.RKLMIXM). You didn't miss that?

I've no idea what version of the bootloader I'm on as getprop ro.bootloader returns 'unknown'
But, as I'm on "latest" v13 Miui, I suspect the bootloader is the wrong one. Do I have to downdate to 12.5 before installing PE?
Edit: I've downdated the device to 12.5 RKLMIXM and have flased the PE recovery image, all okay. It's now installing the PE zip, so fingers crossed that's it.
Edit edit: I have PE on my device! Thank you at @xuser_0 for highlighting were I'd gone wrong.
The key @JohanGriman appears to be to ensure your device is not on the latest Miui but the latest 12.5 version.
Is there any instructions on how to install Magisk on this? I've tried to usual ways (via apk and flashing .zip thru adb sideload) but it fails to repack the boot image. Will a manual patch of the boot image and reflash work?
Edit: I've been able to directly patch the PE recovery image (as used in the installation process) using the Magisk apk on my device. Can I now flash this patched image to the device?
I don't want to try it as other instructions I've found talk about a vbmeta image that needs to be flashed too, and I don't know if that's necesary.... and I don't want to trash my device again!
Just flash it but it will break safetynet. To fix safetynet enable Zygisk, add google play services to deny list and install shamiko.
