Question Changing Default Gallery app... - Xiaomi 11T Pro

I'm testing alternatives for the MIUI 13 Gallery app, and I have found a few candidates.
BUT even if I set the new gallery app as default in the MIUI 13 settings, when I press the image of a recent shot inside the MIUI Camera app I'm still getting the miui gallery .
How can I change that?
If the gallery is hard-linked with the Camera, it is useless to have another Gallery app because then you will have to deal with both.
P. S. If had root access a might have tried to uninstall the default Gallery app, and hope for the camera app to ask me for another Gallery, but without root I cannot install it or I can freeze it.

Did you try: settings/app management/apps installed/the 3 dots at the top right/management of default apps

Yea you cant really change that as far as i know (even with root). You could however use gcam as your default camera and select the thirdparty gallery app as default to open via gcam. But I know thats not much of a solution.

replace gallery in camera preview?

I want to use quickpic as my default gallery and it now is, but the default gallery still launches when in the camera app. Stock galley is nice but don't like the social and dlna integration because they do not work anymore since the apps are frozen. So any way to get it to launch quickpic with the default camera app?
If not what are some good camera apps your recommend?
Ye I wanted this and searched for it..seems it's hardcoded into camera and someone would have to modify it
yup its kinda annoying, maybe if i rename quickpic.apk to gallery.apk it might work.
I also tried a few camera app which all sucked.

No I tried that. It gives you something like application not installed.
Probably because it tries to call a function from quickpic that doesn't exist
QuickSnap is an alright camera app replacement. Made by the devs who made Lightbox (sorta like Instagram), but it's a standalone app. Problem is it has its own preview function that is not tied to the gallery at all, so sharing, uploading, etc. requires actually navigating to your gallery of choice. That part sucks, but otherwise it's better than the stock app (simpler, faster, looks nicer).
hmm its not bad and has a simple UI but does not do video

[Q] Camera App

Has anyone figured out how to launch the camera app? Ive seen it used in videos so I know its possible. I tried the Modaco camera launcher, but couldnt get it to work. Thanks
The problem is that there is no native camera app to launch. You need to install an apk that is an actual full camera app, not just a launcher.

Thanks.
There is a native camera app, if you don't use the stock launcher. When I installed ADW launcher EX, there is an icon called "camera" and it well, runs the front facing camera and allows video and still images. I don't believe amazon put in an icon launcher in their native ecosystem.

Anyway to create a shortcut to the app? Maybe anycut or something will work. When I was at best buy playing with the store demo it had a camera app on it. I wonder if it's the same app
Sent from my SGH-T769 using Tapatalk 2
I can confirm - there is a working stock ICS camera app, but no shortcut. If you go into Settings, Applications, Installed Applications, it's right there in the list: Camera, Version 1
The way I was able to launch it was through AirDroid (that's actually how I discovered it)
I tried using the Camera launcher that I installed on my Nexus 7, but it FCs.

Here You Go!
Not sure if it makes a difference but I use apex launcher. I just click the camera app in the drawer. The camera works fine. If I could only get the flash the flash to work(j/k).

[Q] Changing default gallery app on Camera

Hello, is it possible to change the default gallery app the camera app uses?
I remember before I could click the thumbnail while in the camera app and get taken to another app (e.g. QuickPic).
But ever since Jelly Bean, it automatically takes me to the stock Gallery app which I find is a bit more sluggish than QuickPic.
Thanks in advance!
Look maybe you install quick pic and make it as the default app for viewing pics. I'm not sure if it'd help but you can try :|

[Q] Any way to make Quickpic default camera app?

I'm running stock rooted (with xposed) and I want to freeze / delete the gallery app and replace it with Quickpic. This is easy enough to do, but when I freeze it, if I take a picture with the camera, I can't view the preview from camera app. It gives me an error b/c gallery is frozen. If I switch to full Quickpic app, the pictures are there, I just lose the direct link to preview.
Is there any way to change the default "gallery" app within camera to Quickpic?
Nobody? Is it not possible?
I made a Xposed module for that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-samsung-camera-gallery-fix-t2988640

Custom gallery app won't open from the Camera

Hi,
I have disabled Google Photos and installed Simple Gallery app.
Now I have a problem in that when I click on the in-camera "preview" thumbnail (lower right), normally it would've opened Google Photos gallery, however as that is now disabled I expected to open Simple Gallery.
The problem is it doesn't.
I tried to look and reset the "Default gallery app", but there is no such setting.
Is the Nokia Camera app hardwired to only work with Google Photos?
Regards
