Question Esim support? - Vivo X Fold

I'd like to upgrade my Samsung Fold, but I couldn't find any confirmation that Vivi X Fold supports esims. Does anyone know? I assume it's at least dual physical sim, right?

This phone does not support this feature

They don't but you can use 2 physical sims

You can use the eSIM as a physical SIM card in any device, although the price is a bit high.

US Carrier Dual-Sim?

I know it's really early but i figured i'd put it out there.
Anybody know if the US Carrier's will allow and support Dual-Sim in their versions? I ask because i was hoping to use ATT's version to keep their Wifi Calling, HDVoice, etc as well as use Dual-Sim so i don't have to carry two phones around for work and personal.
I’m curious too.

No dual sim for US peeps. I hate it and do not understand why we can't have it.

Are you saying even the carrier unlocked us one won't have dual-sim... Damn
The color release is marketing and demand...they want to control the initial release. Sectioning colors to regions makes it easier to release...shortly after the high-demand release, we will probably see the other colors introduced. They have done this before with other devices. Sucks for those wanting to take advantage of pre-order deals. I wanted the deep blue but since it's going in a case, I got black and bought blue cases.
They don't sell dual in the US due to carrier pressure. Although slightly less so than a few years ago the vast majority of US phone sales are through carriers giving them the power to dictate product to some extent.
The U.S. Samsung web site is allowing pre-order of an unlocked variant; SM-N950UZVAXAA. The Best Buy web site shows this as a Snapdragon, dual-sim:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsun...D=1&siteID=je6NUbpObpQ-05QPqugkIIKu.GTfe_wiOQ
I have asked Samsung support for verification as I need unlocked, dual sim.

Though I cannot say one way or the other that the Best Buy site has its description correct... been burned a few times relying on that data.
A chat with Samsung online states no dual Sim for US unlocked phones.
Info: Thank you for choosing to chat with us. An agent will be with you shortly.
Info: You are now chatting with Srilatha R.
Srilatha R: Hi, thank you for reaching out to Samsung Technical Support. How may I assist you?
You: Hi, I'm interested in purchasing your Note 8. I am considering the unlocked version as I have lines with Sprint and Verizon. Will the US version of the unlocked phone offer dual SIM capability so that I can use one device for both carriers?
Srilatha R: No, US version phones are compatible with single sim feature
You: That's a shame but thank you for confirming. Is there any way to get a version that offers the dual sim capability?
Srilatha R: No, Due to product design of the phone all the US version samsung phones are compatible with only single sim
You: Got it. Thank you.
Srilatha R: But you can try with international version phones
You: How would I purchase an international version?
Srilatha R: You can purchase it from third party websites such as amazon
You: Ok, that makes sense. I owned the Note 7 and am eligible for the trade-in credit. How would I purchase through Amazon and then still get the credit?
Srilatha R: Well, if you choose to trade in then , that can only be done by Samsung.
Srilatha R: As trade in offer is not eligible for other stores or websites
You: Ok, thank you for your help today
Why you want dual sim peopole.
Its hybrid which means your 200 gb sd card will not work with the second sim card. That is coming from a dual sim samsung user..
That's good to know. I didn't understand that to be the case - probably due to the desire to have one device that would support lines from two different carriers. That's a shame though - many of us have personal devices and work devices that would, in an ideal world, be combined into a single device with the majority of needs met.

For average business user who do not need more than 64 gb of storage. The dual sim version will be a good choice.
Its hybrid sim thought meaning you chose either second sim or a an up to 256 gb sd card. You cannot use the 2nd sim with the sd card at same time.
You will have to order it from Amazon thought.
As a traveling person between 2 countries the dual sim is an advantage for me.

TL;DR - SM-N950UZKAXAA IS NOT DUAL SIM
Samsung Direct/USA or whatever you call it or whoever is being represented in Samsung.com/US has a listing during pre-ordering that the unlocked note 8 is dual sim. I even have a screenshot of that one.
However, same SKU - SM-N950UZKAXAA, is being sold in Best Buy. I did check both unlocked units in Black and Orchid Gray and as the store people have shown me, they aren't dual sim at all. Perhaps it was good riddance that the units are delayed in the shipping because I would be most likely returning that one eventually because there was some sort of deception on the item being sold. Now cancelled, perhaps I'll just get my Note 8 in few months time when the price is lower.

Does the new Note 9 work on DUAL SIMS + SD card simultaneously

Hello, I tried the new Note9 with Dual sims + Sd card simultaneously, both sims register and i can see the sd card registering in the notification section, but i get a popup which says Some problem with the sim tray please remove try and reinsert. I cant seem to bypass this. can anyone help ?
You cannot use a combination of two Sims and an SD card. You can use a single sim and an SD card or two sims and no SD card.
A bit of a stupid design but this is how I have known it since the note 8.
Unfortunately this dual sim set up is not available in US (at least when i pre-ordered mine). Would you know if it support CDMA?
For my history use, if I get the 512gb then I dont have to have a SD card. 512gb is enough (too much).
Thanks in advance!

From what I've heard,Samsung has prevented this w/software.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/dual-sim-sd-card-problem-s9-t3830637
It worked in the past, but, sometime this year,Samsung put an end to using all three simultaneously.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77369298&postcount=7
I know exactly what you're talking about, I used two SIM Cards & an SD Card in a Honor View 10.
I used a $10 SIM extender, which fit right next to the SD Card in the 2nd slot.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BFXZCCN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Perhaps there'll be a work-around in the future, but,it's likely gonna be a solution that requires your device to be rooted.
I'm shifting from S7Edge to Note9, really wish there was a work around for this. Anyways for now I'm in 128gb and at the moment I have enough memory. Thanks guys.
It doesn't work for me too.. I was using my sim+sdcard combo on my axon 7 but when I put it in my note 9, it says check sim tray. Hope this gets a workaround.

samsung has done some stuff to prevent this from happening altho if you root you can break the security
It just happened to me as well. I was using both of the sims and SD card with sim extender till my Note 8 and it was working fine but in Note 9 the annoying popup is not going anywhere. Any fix will be helpful to by pass this.
I have the same problem!
Hi friends. I live in Iran & here just note 8 is in the market in its 64gb model. I used 2 sims & sd card simultaneously until it told me there is an update. I did the update, it became Android 9, & brgan giving me the prompt that something's wrong with the tray. I did whatever that I thought might help, but it didn't help. Later ai heard that Android 9 doesn't allow simultaneous 2 sims & an sd card! I hope Samsung changes this. Their phones are becoming worse every day. Glass back which breaks & gets fingerprint marks, low capacity, and every time they ban something on their users! I wish I wasn't in love with Samsung!
Unfortunately Samsung has prevent dual Sim device owners from being able to use both SIMs and a microSDCard at the same time for some strange reason.
Samsung Note 9 in India comes with Dual Sim Dual Standby version & can use 2 - 4G VoLTE SIM cards simultaneously.
I have an Unlocked Samsung Note 9 from SPRINT , USA. This has a Single SIM Slot with a memory card expansion bay. The Exact Model No of the Sprint , USA's Samsung Note 9 is SM-N960U1.
What i want to know is that does this version have e-sim capability ? Does it has a second e-sim modeul & 2nd IMEI built in ?
Anyway to find out , maybe via an app or anything ?
Else, i can stuck with a single sim Note 9 if it does not.
Can anyone help on this... i cant seem to find any details on this specific model.

Simple & Effective answer. Thanks so much. Its a Single SIM with one IMEI no only.
This means the SPRINT (USA) Samsung Note 9 has single sim with single IMEI so no e-sim support also.

Very unlikely. Since Samsung has actively blocked it with software, whatever their reason may be, they don't have any real reason to unblock it.

Hi,
It is written in the post. Find services.jar, decompile it with a Java decompiler, make the shown changes, and push it back to where it was with like adb push command or file manager on the phone.
That, or find it in the ROM from Dr. Ketan or install that ROM.
That should give you enough pointers I hope.
Start trying and post if you really get stuck.

Dual SIM?

I've read that it will have a traditional SIM slot as well as the eSIM slot. Previous versions didn't allow them to be used simultaneously. Sounds like the 4 will allow that? I currently use a Note 9 international version with Dual-SIM in the US with T-Mobile & AT&T. Wondering if I purchase through T-Mobile (or direct from Google) - can I use them with the eSIM and AT&T with the nano SIM?
Thoughts? Guides? Links to more info? Much appreciated!
The word was it would be DSDS rather than DSSS. I've seen no confirmation of that yet although the commits are there and a Google engineer openly commented about ongoing testing. I'm hopeful but also looking for some confirmation.

Not 100% sure what you're asking but if you tell it to "ask every time" you dial then a screen will pop up asking you which sim you want to use when you dial a number. You can change that so that one is the default all the time but then to change the dialer sim you will need to go back into settings.
Yeah, that's the Pixel 3a method, I have one so I'm familiar with the options. Samsung has a similar base setup but if you don't set a default it puts 2 dial buttons in the dialer, one for each line. Doing that you can simply dial off of whichever line you want on the fly instead of having to select from the toast. It's a cleaner setup that saves a step. I've been hoping it made it in because it was an acknowledged feature request. Maybe next time...

Oh got ya. That sounds cool. I'd like to see something like that. Definitely would save a bunch of dialing steps. The toast is problematic at times.
Has anyone gotten T-Mobile to work on eSIM with another carrier on a physical SIM? According to a XDA thread on Pixel 3a XL, they did this.
I have T-Mobile working on the physical sim and Fi working on the e-sim, but it's not simultaneously.
In Italy next week i will ne able to try a eSim... I will update you
Can confirm I could not transfer my eSIM to T-Mobile by giving EID. The tech support claimed it needs to be a T-Mobile bought phone. I bought an unlocked Pixel 4 xl. I wonder if the boot or system img tailored to the T-Mobile versions could get the eSIM to work.
TMobile does not support esim yet, according to TMobile. I tried to get a Tmobile purchased 4xl to use the esim.
So, if I'm GoogleFi I can have my GoogleFi account running from the eSim and also get an additional SIM from GoogleFi and have both slots active with Google Sims? Is that correct?

Question Is there a Dual SIM Snapdragon S21 Ultra model?

Is there a Dual SIM Snapdragon S21 Ultra model? If yes, what’s the model number?
The specs at GSMArena say:
Single SIM (Nano-SIM and/or eSIM) or Dual SIM (Nano-SIM and/or eSIM, dual stand-by)
So it looks like at least one of the models is dual sim (and it's mentioned in the description on the Samsung website) - but there's no indication which model it might be.
Samsung support said my unlocked 512gb will be dual sim - but it took a lot of time on the phone researching and calling other people for them to find that info. Not even sure if it’s true at this point. It’s very strange how this is so difficult to figure out
HK unit should have dual sim according to my supplier.

Why not? No carrier bloatware, dual sim's, unlocked bootloader, fast updates and the only call features you won't have are CA and 5G which at this time is more of a promotional gimmick than a useful feature.

What about the US unlocked version? I don't care about unlocked bootloader, I know how to remove/disable all bloatware. And, the speed of updates don't matter as much as they used to. This isn't 2012.
In India we have the dual sim exynos variant (Sim1 - PHY, Sim2 - PHY or esim) if you put in a physical Sim in the 2nd Sim position then esim gets disabled. If you use esim then the 2nd Sim is disabled.

Nope. I mean, I wasn't aware that it doesn't support dual physical SIM. But right on their website on the S21U page, it says that no US versions support eSIM. So I'm gonna go ahead and say that the answer is, unfortunately, no =/
But the good thing is that (probably with any unlocked version of the phone) you can just carry around both of your SIM cards and the sim pin tool in a really small, durable canister... You'd just have to turn off the phone and then swap the SIM cards whenever you wanted to change your service. It'd be slightly more annoying, but still doable!

from what I can gather, after a LOT of trying . . . there is no dual sim US version samsung phone. This from a lot of searching and phone conversations with several tech and sales personnel on the phone with Samsung. For this reason, I bought a non US version which broke the Samsung Health Monitor app and does not work for 5G within the USA. other than that it seems to be behaving nicely on the Tmobile US based network.

Ive tried that solution and its a lot more problematic than it might seem. I need the extra sim because I travel overseas and my US carrier starts complaining when my roaming data goes large (even tho they advertise "unlimited"). that means i would need to remember to turn off mobile data everytime i change the card. also the tool gets lost and bent and you can actually bend or break those sim trays after a lot of changing . . . not to mention losing sim cards on a bumpy train or taxi. I hate to invoke Murphy, but you can be assured that when a super important call is trying to come in it will not be on the line associated with the sim card currently installed. Sim swapping can also cause minor problems with messaging apps like whatsapp and telegram that could be a whole new thread. The only real viable solution for a frequent traveler is a dual sim phone with sim 2 used for mobile data in the locale physically present in. Second to that is carrying two phones. Least desireable (at least for me) is frequent sim swapping. That's my experience and humble opinion after years of very heavy international travel.
SM-G9980 has dual SIM fully working. I know for a fact because that's the version I have. }
I'm from Chile and the phone does everything I want it to do.
I have the 9980. It is fully dual sim but does not do 5G in the US. Occasionally I don't get data in some places in the US even when I have 5 bars. I'm guessing there are other bands this device misses. But that's rare. Everything is a compromise in life!
One good piece of news is that the T-MOBILE NOTE20 ULTRA now has it's esim activated. So if you are predominantly in the US this is the combo you need as it's dual sim and 5G in the US. The hope is that they do this with more devices including the s21.

Don't you need two radios to have two lines active at the same time? You mean switching between phone calls or merging two different phone lines on one call? I do think MEP is functioning on the P7 but only DSDS. Also I'm not sure if you can have dual eSims and a physical sim or only 2 working at once. Curious to see the specs on this too.

I mean DSDS with two eSIM at the same time. Right now only combo possible is eSIM + physical with older pixels. There are rumors of MEP implementation but explicit dual eSIM support (DSDS) is not mentioned anywhere officially.

When I tried to activate the second eSIM on my new Pixel 7 it told me I should turn off the other active eSIM, it did not suggest that turning off the physical SIM is an option.

Phone is out. Still unclear from the official specs if it supports two eSIM active simultaneously. Anyone knows?

It will support dual esims but actual support won't be until it's included in a future feature drop.

Thanks, and I wonder why they are delaying this. I think the iPhone latest has it already. I'm hoping the 7a will have it at the get go. That's what I'll be getting if it comes in at 6.1 again.
It works fine on my phone, AT&T and Tmobile (esim)
I have 1 eSIM and 1 regular SIM running. It does give me an option to add an eSIM, bt I don't want to try it because setting up the first one was a nightmare and I don't want to lose it.

Yeah, as others have said, it seems to be live for people now. I've seen a few people saying they are using it.

Dual eSIM no longer works. It was removed from Pixel 7 over a month ago.
That said, back when it was working you could only use a total of 2 lines at a time. Either 2 eSIM or 1 eSIM + 1 pSIM.

3 lines on one phone? Buy yourself a switchboard and hire a secretary.
This why I have three phones... *narf*
