Question Need definitive answer: Import Vivo X Fold for T-Mobile - Vivo X Fold

Hey guys,
I have been drooling over this phone since it was announced, watched and read every review on it that I could find...
Still looking for a definitive answer... Should I import it to use on T-Mobile?

I use it on Tmobile here in Las Vegas and I have no problem with it. I get 5g

Awesome! Where in Vegas are you? My brother lives in Summerlin and we go out there often. Perhaps we could meet at Starbucks so I could see the phone in person, coffee on me... Is that weird?
My biggest worry is not receiving notifications... Have you had any issues with that?

Yeah I notice when I use dark mode I don't get much notifications compared to light mode but then again I remove most of my notifications. Only one I care about is my calls and messages

The Android Messages texting app won't display notifications when the phone is in system wide dark mode, so I use Chomp.

So Chomp + dark mode works?
What about Textra, have you tried that?

I tried Textra, and it does receive notifications in system wide dark mode, however when you tap on Android Assistant and give it voice commands like send a text message to, it insists on opening the default Vivo app. I found by trial and error that Chomp displays notifications in system wide dark mode and is opened automatically when I use the Android assistant voice commands.

What carrier are you using?
Overall you're happy with the phone?

I am in Nova Scotia and on Bell. I've gotten over the little quirks that are common to all CN phones and I'm very happy coming from a Hauwei Mate 20 X and a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Easy to debloat and change your launcher and default apps.

Hows the battery life? I was thinking if/when I get it to reduce the hz to 60... I don't really care about 120hz, it's nice and all, but if it significantly increases the battery life, that's a trade I would make. Hz for battery

I’m from Alberta and and on Bell as well. I keep debating on ordering or not. I’ve actually ordered then cancelled 3 times since it launched.
What are some of the biggest quirks?
I have $2500 just sitting here trying to decide on a phone to order lol.

Np VoLTE in Canada, as the carriers here won't enable it for Vivo phones. You can connect to 5G to stream, download, etc., but your voice calls will drop to the old 3G network without Voice over LTE. If you travel to the US your phone won't work, as they have shut down their 3G networks.

Oh damn. That definitely won’t work for me. I travel to the US 3-4 times a year.
Canadian carriers are supposed to shut down 3G in the next couple years too, aren’t they?

Works fine with 5G on TMobile in the Detroit area. ****ing love this phone.

Works well in Dallas Texas on T-Mobile's 5G.

Does the hotspot work on TMobile?

If Verizon, who has sent the N6 back in hopes to buy later when...

Not sure if this affect others but with Verizon not having the Advance Call 1.0 is becoming harder for me to live without... Plus I am on 3G only although there are some VZW N6 users who get LTE but I still don't think they can talk and use data together?
So coming from a wonderful rooted Note 3 on VZW, I am an IT Engineer and travel a lot for my job. With the Note 3, I
>> Travel and use device for GPS solely. But using other data phone activities while GPS is active
>> When traveling I need to answer support calls if a server goes down and this can be while driving using GPS. If so then I need voice, data & GPS
>> Long conference calls avg time 1 hr so to be able to use web, text, data while on a call is a need. Many times i am traveling not sitting at a desk need phone
I adore the N6 have it rooted and works well but today another day of travel I was using GPS but needed web to find product info, can't. Also recently was on a long business conf call and wife texted a urgent question but could not send a text back due to being on a bus call, etc. etc.. Same happened once when I was on GPS and text would not send...thought that was strange
I want to keep the phone but the need for production is weighing heavy on me and I did not realize how import LTE or I should say Advance Call 1.0 was important and needed for my day to day business & job
Any of you in this boat where the N6 is great but being early adopters is killing your need for voice and data both together?
My assumption this is a VZW only issue and not for other carriers they can do both together?
Has anyone refunded their N6 and just keeping a watch on how the N6 progress?
Hope soon VZW will add Advance Call for N6 or someone can cook it in a rom but curious of others thoughts who may be in a similar pinch?
I don't think there will be carrier specific updates. I think Google will enable this and WiFi calling in February with the 5.1 update.

"'In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." so with that being said we may never know until its released. I have seen it mentioned on here several times with regards to WiFi calling, so one can assume that VoLTE will follow suit.

When there is going to be a thread for Urbane 2nd gen?

When there is going to be a thread for Urbane 2nd gen? It is out for almost a week now. I can not believe that nobody got it?
That's a good question. I am also waiting for it.
Came here to ask the same question. Lots of other people have it on android central forms. Please create a thread!!
I agree. I have one and keep checking back here
Your experience with the Urbane 2 LTE
Hi there, I'm also waiting on a forum. But, in the meantime, I'm thinking seriously about buying an Urbane 2 LTE, but have several concerns and thought perhaps you guys might be able to answer them. And all of my questions relate to when it is NOT connected to my smartphone.
1. Will it send and receive calls even when connected to wifi (I don't mean through wifi as I know that isn't possible)? I read in one review that this was a problem.
2. Can I receive my Exchange email through the watch?
3. Are you able to connect to a secured wifi network (i.e., insert a password) without being connected to your phone? Again, this concern came up in a recent review.
4. Can the watch accept Google Voice text messages?
5. How is the call quality talking (for the person you call) and listening (is the speaker loud enough under normal conditions)?
6. Can you easily connect the watch to a bluetooth headset?
7. How is OK Google working? One reviewer said it failed a bunch.
8. How well does it maintain a steady data connection with a link to a phone? Another reviewer concern.
9.
FYI, verizon launch was canceled and all pre-orders orders will be canceled. Big red strikes again.
Same here. I got mine from AT&T on Tuesday. Love it so far.

My experiences so far on the AT&T Urbane LTE and a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5:
1. Yes, as far as I can tell as it has its own SIM card, so it has a full cellular radio in it and has its own phone # assigned to it.
2. I don't think it has a full email client on it that I have found anyway. I am also an exchange user trying to find how to get notifications.
3. Yes, you can join WiFi networks that use a passkey/password, but nothing certificate based. Mine pulled the ones my phone knew of.
4. Kind-of. I took the Phone # assigned to the watch and added it to Google Voice as another phone. The notifications I get on a GV Text Message show the random numbers that GV uses as a portal, not the actual # of the person sending me a text message. I don't think there is a google voice app for android wear. At least not one I have found.
5. I think the call quality from the watch itself is quite good. Plenty loud enough and definitely clear. I wouldn't use it often, but in a pinch I wouldn't hesitate to use it either.
6. I have not tried this yet, but I will and let you know.
7. OK Google has not failed me yet. It is responsive and works just like it would on a Nexus Phone as far as I can tell.
8. As far as I can tell, the connection (bluetooth) between my Note 5 and the Urbane is quite robust. I went down the hall to the restroom in my office and left my phone on my desk. I had a phone call on my Note 5 while I was away from my desk and it "rang" on my watch just fine.
As an afterthought, it is probably worth noting that as I am not a current AT&T customer, I bought the watch outright with no contract for $299 so I wasn't locked into a data plan more than month-to-month. As such, I am currently paying a ridiculous $30 a month for a measly 300MB of data for the watch by itself and I am still trying to determine exactly how, when, where, and why it uses data on its own 3G/LTE radio.
I don't plan to separate the watch and my phone often, and I can't see the need to make a voice call on the watch without using my phone, so I am not sure I am going to keep the data plan from AT&T until I learn more about how it works. I have one of those "free" 200MB per month SIM cards from T-Mobile, and I can tell you the watch does NOT appear to be SIM-locked, much to my surprise.
More experimentation to follow. I'd love to hear what others have learned in using theirs thus far.

Really helpful, Rob! I can't wait till xda gets a forum for this smarthwatch.
I had a typo for #8. I'm interested in the quality and consistency of the data connection when NOT connected to your phone.
A few follow-up questions.
1. So it sounds like you receive GV text messages even with a funky sender #. But can you also send texts through GV? I seem recall reading that Hangouts (into which GV is now integrated) has a smartwatch app. But I find Hangouts cumbersome because you have to go through several screens to just get to text messages.
2. Without Exchange, what are you doing about email? I emailed an called Nine that appears to do what we want, but haven't heard back. Will report when I do.
I'm going to test out a U2 (that's a much better shortened name!) this morning and will report back if I learn anything.
Many thanks!
I just downloaded and installed the Nine email client. It seems to work great, but I can't figure out how or where to enable Wear notifications.

Here a few possibilities:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.bluemail.mail
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.office.outlook
None of them indicate specifically about standalone smartwatches, but they say they are for Android Wear.
Also, do you have a gmail account? I believe there is a way to have Exchange email forwarded to gmail and have emails from gmail to show your Exchange email address.
Oh, is there a keyboard for inputting texts and emails?
BTW, did you see this app? Looks really practical: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.npi.wearminilauncher
It looks like something happened. Watch are out of stock on AT&T web site, Verizon cancelled pre orders and no information on LG web site about watch.
I Will have to wait much longer than i expected for availability in europe.
@robroy90 hey dude when you make your wirst go up.. does it push the crown everytime.. would be cool if we could put the watch on the other hand and the screen will rotate accordingly
LG Watch Urbane 2 has been canceled indefinitely
http://www.techradar.com/news/wearables/lg-urbane-2-has-been-canceled-indefinitely-1309332
while I have an love mine, I am still going to wait for a more detailed reason other then Unspecified Hardware Issue. I had it for a week tomorrow and the only issue I have is LTE connection is spotty at best, it seems to be stuck mostly on HSPA
One negative effect is see from this is software updates. When I had the LG G watch, I remember that being rooted. So if this "issue" is nothing to major, maybe someone with the experience will be able to root this beast so we can essentially still have updates, just not from LG specifically
Wow. I wonder why they were shelved? I was going to upgrade to this from a G Watch.
Maybe we can find them on a fire clearance sale?

Wow, glad I grabbed mine so aggressively when I did. I am not going to blindly just return mine (unless my wrist catches on fire... lol). I would like a detailed explanation on what this "serious hardware issue is". As far as it maybe being an issue where it drops to HSPA in an otherwise strong LTE service area, I could not care less. I don't think my watch needs the blazing fast speeds of LTE anyway. Someone posted about how cool it would be for it to be a hotspot?!? What, for 10 minutes before the battery dies... LOL. I am happy, and unless mine starts acting really wonky, I am definitely keeping it.
Well regardless of possible reasons, I'll be keeping mine. Yeah its only been a few days with the watch, but it has been a few days of heavy usage bliss. This is the first smart watch, that I have ever used, that does everything well, (well at least the things that are important for me to have in a smartwatch). So a later patch not coming for my device, (can't speak for others owners), won't be so bad for me, since everything I want to work....works great already, and if I return it, what other option is out there? All the other watches I tried don't work as good as this one for the things I want to work.....and this one has the best battery life to boot. Besides, I don't know why everyone thinks a software update won't come. Google controls android wear, an I don't think their going to not update their software.
If they scrap this one and release a new one a year from now, I'll check out that option when that bridge is crossed, but in the mean time, i'm keeping this bad boy.
Oh and if anyone has every used watchmaker before (lets you design your own watch faces), It appears to be working great for me. Just a heads up.
I was lucky enough to buy one of these from AT&T without a contract a couple of days before they were pulled. So far the watch is great. Battery life is good, calls are clear, and the screen is big and bright. However, there is one major flaw: You can't pair a Bluetooth headset to the watch and use it for voice calls. I tried a few different Bluetooth headsets, and they can only be used for audio playback. The only way to send and receive voice calls is using the integrated speaker and microphone on the watch. Another minor annoyance is you must have the phone with you to connect to a new WiFi network. If you try to connect to a new WiFi network using the settings on the watch, it asks you to enter the password on the phone.
The inability to use a Bluetooth headset for calls is pretty big weakness compared to other smart watches, but probably not severe enough to pull the watches from the shelves. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the device is unlocked, and it is so easy to switch carriers without a contract. Also, AT&T was offering this device at the same cost of an LTE tablet ($10/month), but the watch has a SIM that supports both voice and data which usually costs 3-4 times as much. I tried using the watch SIM in an Android smartphone, and it seemed to work fine.

5.1.1 "Advanced Messaging" Working?

One of the biggest promises of 5.1.1 for me on T-Mobile was advanced messaging, with a limit of 10 megs per message instead of just 1 meg with MMS, I looked forward to sharing pictures by text without the horribly poor-quality compression. Then, AT&T announced they were going to be supporting it, too! Great bonus!
But why can't I get it to work, at all? I have WiFi Calling and VoLTE activated (as T-Mobile's website says), I've gone through all the 'Chat' settings. Tried sending messages to friends with the same T-Mobile Note 4 with 5.1.1., but the pictures get MMS compressed from 2-3 Megs to 200-300 Kb, just like old times. Not even notifications that the other sender is typing a message or has received the message.
A Google search and XDA search revealed surprisingly little help. Anyone know how to get this going? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I'm only on here late, so I'm tired and the words don't sense always make.
T-Mobile has been advertising Advanced Messaging in it's new phones since the summer - I was able to find a YouTube video of it in-action. https://youtu.be/MuC2c0E1c8I
Also, in my search for info on the T-Mobile iteration, I saw the announcement that AT&T will be implementing it, too (making it more useful).
Anyways, I had to call T-Mobile's billing department to fix something, so I had them connect me to tech support when we were done. The tech didn't initially know what Advanced Messaging was, but after waiting on hold for about 5 minutes, he came back and said they have been having system-wide issues with VoLTE for a while, which has been keeping Advanced Messaging from working, right now.
I'll just continue emailing the big attachments, for now, then.
Don't forget that the person you are texting must also be on Tmo with a newer Samsung phone that is setup for Advanced Messaging. I don't know anyone with those specs so I can't even test it.

I actually had it work with another friend (It still randomly switched between Advanced Messaging and regular messaging throughout the day). It is kinda cool, but I turn-off the invasive notifications.
BTW, my first friend with same same T-Mobile Note 4 forgot to mention they'd switched messaging apps...

Not Receiving Text Messages Intermittently

Is anyone having the issue of not receiving text messages from different people on T-Mobile S8? There are several people that text and I don't receive the text messages. My wife is in the same network as I'm with an iPhone 7 Plus, a friend of mine in the T-Mobile network as well with an iPhone 7. A coworker in the sprint network with an iPhone 5S and a friend of my on T-Mobile with an S8. Sometimes I don't receive their messages. My Friend with the S8 sometimes doesn't receive mines. Anyone has this issue? I have several weeks with this issue and it's frustrating.

For the past few weeks I have been reading about text messages not being delivered/received on different networks. Some Google Pixel phone users face this as well and google said that this will be fixed in November's update. I haven't noticed any issues with my text messages. Looks like you have a mixture of Android and iOS devices and these usually didn't play well together especially in group chats I know some iPhone users would temporarily turn off iMessage to have a proper group conversation.

Thank you for the speedy reply. I'm not doing group conversation. They're individual text messages. It's random that's the worse. It can be working fine and then it just breaks. I have tried with the Samsung Stock Messaging app and the Google Messages App as well.
I am having the same problem. I tried clearing messing app cache and system cache, but this has not solved the problem for me. I am considering a factory reset next.
I have an unlocked s8+ on verizon and I also am intermittently not receiving texts. Co-workers and I tested it yesterday and I was intermittently not receiving texts from a windows phone on sprint, a unlocked note 8 on verizon and an iPhone 6s+ on verizon. I would receive a majority of the texts, but once in a while I would miss one... Issue seems to be with my s8+.

I am factory reseting now. One frustrating thing about this problem is that I won't know if it fixed it or not unless someone tells me they texted me and I didn't reply.
BTW, I am pretty sure Samsung customer service employees don't know anything. They wanted me to send my phone in for repair without even trying any troubleshooting first.
I am so frustrated with this problem. Its a basic feature of any smartphone to be able to text and expect you would receive one, but not the case. Mine goes from never receiving or sending at times, to getting multiple copies of the same text. Way to go Samsung to destroy a great product. Problem is they haven't acknowledged or done anything about it.
Same on S7 edge
TLDR: same issue on my Tmo S7 Edge last few weeks. Not just S8 problem.
Full: So interesting - I came here to look at S8 reviews etc, just dropped my S7 edge and busted my glass. Thinking about upgrade to S8 vs fixing glass for $275, partially because of my intermittent text issues on S7. Samy symptoms. Just with a few contacts I regularly communicate with, mix of Android and iPhone, mix of carriers. No way to know I've missed one until they ask if I received. They get 'sent' reciept like normal no matter what. No apparent impact on my ability to send - they get all of mine. Just sporadic recieving problems . Tried clearing cache, switching SMS apps, resetting APN, etc...but no luck. Factory reset is next. Then have to decide on what to do next...S8 or Pixel 2, or fix screen.
Same problem with mine and my wife's S7s. It's sproadic, not related to carrier or phones, or even locations. It's very frustrating that TMobile won't acknowledge there's a major issue here that is affecting a lot of people.
I used to have the problem as well. Then I dumped all SMS apps I used to use, and went back to ORIGINAL app that came with the ROM, and problem disappeared.. So my question is - Do you have messages not received/Sent with the ORIGINAL built in app?
Also - Oreo Beta can be downloaded today. Seems like Google have a fix (to whatever the bug was) anyways.
Same problem with S8 on Sprint. It's not a carrier issue, it's Samsung (or Android). There is no help. Nothing from Samsung or Sprint. I've missed so many important messages, at least 6 a day. At least my fiance knows about the problem, and if I don't respond she'll shoot me a screenshot showing me what I missed. Until she started that, I had no clue how many texts I was actually missing. I've been to Sprint, on the phone with Sprint, on the phone with Samsung. They're all useless and won't do anything. I've already done factory reset, changed from Google messages back to stock, turned off all entrance enhanced features etc, cleared cache, changed network mode from automatic to LTE/CDMA. Nothing helps. The problem continues. So we're all stuck with a broken product until Google/Samsung fixes the problem. Who knows when that will be. I'm highly angered about this problem, it's BS. I'm trying to get Sprint to let me out of my lease without fees, but so far that's going nowhere. So I'm paying for a phone that is broken.

I had this issue, the fix was to add the app to the unmoitored battery settings. Ever since I did that, all my texts have come through.

Were you using the stock Samsung messaging app? Or something different? I'm able to do that for Google messages, but not the stock Samsung messaging app

I use a 3rd party, not sure about the stock one. I think the app is going to sleep and missing texts.
Same problem here. Been going on for months. Completed the following: Formatted phone, deleted txt message DB, used stock sms app, and used already activated sim to test. I just activated a new sim and will see what happens.
It might be the sleep mode or saving battery issue.
Do messages come through with wifi?
Had the problem with samsung app but not with Google messages.

If you are not receiving text messages from iPhone owners it's because the iPhone owner doesn't have their phone set up right. There is a setting on the iPhone in imessages that has sms and a check box. That is for people that don't have imessage, they check that box and anyone who has Android phone will now get text message.
I have both iPhone 8 & Galaxy S8.

SMS Delay and Voice Failure? [Tencent Version Problems]

Please excuse me if this post is a bit off, this is the first time I have posted here.
I really didn't want to pony up the $1000 for the full version of the ROG Phone II, so I got the Tencent version. I didn't realize it had band compatibility issues with T-Mobile. After having the phone activated, I was told I probably wouldn't be able to get 4G or LTE on it. Not really the end of the world for me as I don't stream video and don't pay for lots of mobile data anyway.
Then I started to have some weird issues. I don't regularly receive SMS messages. If I do get them, they come hours or days late. Sometimes I get them instantaneously, but 2FA has been a real pain in the ass as those messages usually don't arrive. SMS from another phone pretty much never arrives.
I also don't receive phone calls. I will just get notified that I have a new voice mail and that's about it. Sometimes the phone calls go through, but I can't even estimate the failure rate on that one as I don't get allot of phone calls and most don't leave voicemails. I do get phone calls more often than I receive texts, but my wife did call me 11 times before see just got a hold of me via a non-sms messaging app.
As T-Mobile likes to relay heavily on VoLTE, and I know it doesn't work on this phone, I have tried taking it off of Wi-Fi just to see if I can get something to go through. I haven't been scientific about my testing, but I have yet to notice a difference on Wi-Fi or off.
I really don't know how to proceed about doing diagnostics on this phone. I really don't know enough about how SMS or Voice works to go forth and work it out. It is not beyond my ability to root my phone or proceed with using non-carrier distributed Android, I'm not just not certain I want to take that plunge without knowing more about what I have to do.
So here's my quandary:
Should I abandon the Tencent ROG Phone II and just sell it at a loss? Or should I troubleshoot this problem, and dive down the rabbit hole of custom Android, rooting my phone, attempting to get back VoLTE, actually getting updated to Android 10, and being able to use the LTE bands?
Thanks for reading this far. Do appreciate any help you can give.
