Actual plans regarding this phone on XDA - F(x)tec Pro1-X Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi everyone,
I bought this phone because I liked the prospect of a proper physical keyboard and especially an "officially" supported and updated LineageOS image by XDA. I won't go on a rant about the downgrade in processor etc., it sucks but it is what it is. What I am more curious about is what are XDAs plans for a proper official LineageOS image? I was content to wait until one comes out so I have a phone shipped from the beginning with an officially flashed device on an officially supported OS. Now that they shipped every device with a stock Google ROM I'd like to know the estimated timetable. Does it make sense to wait with configuring everything before I put it to use and can switch directly to a LineageOS image? Or is that still months away and I should bite the bullet on the stock ROM (ugh...)?
Edit: I wanted to ask how to get the physical keyboard to German, because I ordered a German QWERTZ layout, but everything was still english (I typed Y and it showed a Z). But I found it in the physical settings, below Pro1X you can select different layouts and it applies it to the physical keyboard. Yay!
So far I am pleased with the manufacturing, but please give us an estimate on a Lineage OS build. Thank you very much.
Kind regards
Maamue

hi there,
in the settings you can search after "physische Tastatur" -> Fxtec Pro1 -> Tastaturlayout einrichten
there you can change the layout from the keyboard

info about x04ht (japanese softbank diamond)

it's been a couple of days since i bought this device, and i thought i should summarize some findings.
1) you cannot skip autorun process. if you soft reset during autorun, the device will start the setup process from the beginning.
2) if you turn off security in registry (HKLM/Security/Policies/Policies/1001), it will refused to connect to desktop pc. you need to leave the security setting non-0, if you need to sync with your pc all the time.
3) sspl does work although it gives you a black screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408621
4) softbank ap is hidden. you can make it visible, with the usual trick of ConnSBM and wifiwake.
5) internet sharing is removed out of rom as usual.
6) mms client is made by arcsoftware, and integrate to messaging. but this app doesn't seem to work without softbank certificate.
7) it seems like most of the oem apps are signed by softbank, and they don't run without the certificate.
8) good news is the japanese thumb input works without certificate so that it can be run on other wm6.1 vga machines.
This is a very important post -- thanks so much for being a Guinea Pig! I was going to get the Raphael (X05HT) when it comes out in early December, but may reconsider if it is not possible to even upgrade a rom. (the Diamond/Rapheal are very similar). However, before we come to that definite conclusion, can you describe the problem with sspl? What is the error? Are you trying to upgrade using windows xp or vista? As much information as possible would be helpful. I am sure somebody here will be able to solve this!
As far as it being locked goes, I was sort of expecting that (After the Hermes fiasco). My main irk though, is possibly not being able to upgrade even a rom....
One more thing: how is input using the keyboard? Does it do a good job?? (Especially in Japanese). That was one reason I was going to wait for the X05HT -- not to mention it having more memory to work with. Cheers!
Not 100% related, but I recommend the Emobile version of this phone. I still have a Softbank phone, which I now use exclusively with a white plan to talk to my wife, but I much prefer the Emobile packet-hodai plan to the gimped Softbank version. With my softbank phone, packet-hodai only covers sms/mms and Yahoo mobile browser, if I used the "PC site browser" I could get charged a lot more.
Anyways that thread if anyones looking for a Diamond that is easily ROM upgradeable in Japan (believe it's also coming out on DoCoMo): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440684

there is no error. sspl starts, but it does not go to the bootloader screen (the tri-color screen), but remains blank. the backlight is still on, but the screen is totally black.

you mean, software keyboard? finally, it has japanese ezinput with japanese/english dictionary so you can type both japanese and english. the difficult thing with this thumb input is switching between words and numbers. the mode changes like alphabet(english only)-number-kana-katakata. so it is a little troublesome to switch english/japanese/number... better use qwer software keyboard to type passwords or email addresses.
it is kinda slow, and seems a little unstable. need to find a way to burn my own rom...
Did you read this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440684&highlight=emobile
Emobile also carry the same phone. Especially, see post 3.
Hopefully are able to solve this and tell us how you did it. Good luck and keep us informed. I look forward to having the same problems with my new X05HT in a few weeks..... :-D
Edit: or try this to unlock it: http://www.mobilefixed.com/shop/pro...id/39?osCsid=06590ca850536441a4721bc41a6d2fd9
I read elsewhere in this forum that it works.
i should have read the threads more carefully. i could install hard spl! the black screen was ok.

So you solved it? No problems? Let us know how a new rom goes! For Japanese input go here for a one cab install of the latest IME. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2905264&postcount=1
As for your data connection installation (should give access to unlimited packet rate, too) go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441400
Do let us know how it goes with a new rom. Speed better? More stable? Amount of free memory better? etc. Cheers!

i created a test rom based on the official htc wwe rom, and successfully burnt it on my x04ht! the original x04ht rom gives you only 20+mb free ram, but this wwe rom gives you about 50mb free ram. also, touchflo responds much faster!
as for japanese input, i am thinking about copying ime+ezinput from the softbank rom which i backed up.
will report more when i am done with my own customized rom.
i could successfully rebuild x04ht rom from the dumped raw files!
summary can be found here.

Did you ever do this? If so, could you please provide a cab? I am also trying to do a similar thing for my X0ht. The IME in the new models is a lot better than the old x01ht one. There are also plently of others who would love a cab if you can do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445550&page=2&highlight=x05ht
Oh, and did you ever work out the settings for Arcsoft so we can use mms? It is exactly the same for the x05ht. (I really don't want to have to use mmslite after I flash it to English).
Best!

first, i thought i would use my x04ht with a wwe rom cooked with japanese functionality and apps from x04ht. however, i have changed (or had to change) my strategy since many oem applications in x04ht including arcsoft mms are security signed and cannot be ported easily, which means they do not run on other roms without softbank certificate.
it was a little time-consuming for me to figure out how certificate works, so i figured out how to port sys & xip from newer roms to x04ht instead. my x04ht is still japanese, but os is from a newer build with softbank certificate and "full wm6.1 functions."
having said that, i think it is possible to change the language of the rom quite easily once you can dump the rom and cook it yourself. the language is simply a matter of mui files and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]. all 409 (english) muis are available from any shipped wwe roms, anyways.
as mentioned above, i have not figured out how to port oem apps without softbank certificate yet. also, i don't have dev environment to make a cab myself.
additionally, i found out the slowness of x04ht is due to default disk cache set 0. gps takes dozens of minutes to start working, which is almost useless. i tried to use it last night, but it was searching the satelites all the time. finally, gps started working when i finally got to the place i wanted to go to. i guess i need to replace the radio rom, but i have not figured out how to make a radio rom backup yet.
also there seems to be some memory leak, but i don't know whether it is the rom or htc apps... free ram of my x04ht is currently about 10 mb after one day. this is unbelievably bad.

2.53 TD2 questions

Hi everyone,
my HTC Diamond1, which I've had since release, have now died. When looking for a new phone, the TD2 is currently number one on the list (unfortunately I think the HD2 is too big).
I am a little hesitant to buy a phone which was released almost a year ago. And essentially all the reviews of it is phones with release ROM versions, making it hard to evaluate the current state of the TD2. Now with 2.53 ROM versions officially released, I wonder what the current status of the phone is?
How does the new ROM perform; I love the new Sense version, but does it perform adequately (remember I'm used to TD1 performance...)?
What have changed since the introduction of WM6.5; does battery perform badly now? Better to stick with 6.1?
Are current owners generally happy, or do you think I'm stupid to buy the TD2 instead of perhaps the HD2?
Would be immensely grateful for any input and help to solve my decision agony!
Thanks!
Strong buy
Very happy with my TD2 for almost a year. Used cooked rom of 2.53 and will install official one today. Go and buy it. You will not regret. Keeping in mind expectations differs.
Cheers,

The reg key is under HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila => "RSK path and text" but I have found that manila RSK is not configurable in 6.5 even if you tweak the regisrty.
2.53 rom update australia
Hi everyone,
I noticed that HTC didnt release a 2.53 Sense UI ROM for Australia, Does anyone know if its possible to run something like the UK WWE:2.53 rom on an Australian Touch Diamond 2 without issue? Will it even work?
The other issue is that my serial number wont allow me to download anything from w w w.htc.com/uk anyway.
Thanks.

ROM update Australia
kobralabs,
You can download the new ROM update with a random UK serial number like "ht968l100040". It is just to make sure that you are downloading the correct file in your language. If you are OK with the English ROM with Manila 2.53, just download and enjoy it. I did the same thing and enjoying the new Manila.
thanks mehmetkoksal,
I might also download the previous version offical htc australia rom, just in case. Do I need to run something like HARDSPL first in order for the UK ROM to work on an australian htc diamond 2? Oh, btw, what region is your phone?
Thanks
Re-ROM Update Australia
kobralabs,
My phone is from Turkey. Therefore with my original serial number I was not able to download any update even the 6.5 for a long time. Therefore I used a UK serial and downloaded the WWE update. But my Vodafone original ROM did not allow me to update the ROM therefore I hardspled the phone with attached program which unchained my ROM from Vodafone and then I was able to update to new ROM.
Thanks for that mehmetkoksal. I have downloaded the WorldWide English ROM and the linked HARDSPL and will try updating my phone tomorrow. Hopefully Manila 2.5 is not to slow.
Just Flashed the New 2.53 Rom - Problem
Hello I have just flashed to HTC's new rom for the topaz with manilla 2.5, I think it is a great rom and a vast improvement over the 2.1 version.
However the programs icon from the top right of the screen has disappeared from this version, so there is no easy way to shut down programs without going into task manager.
Any suggestions or does anyone have the program as a separate cab to install it.
Regards
Colin Williamson
There is a cab in the Leo forums which brings back the taskmanager in the upper right corner, have a look there.
This one should work, but none of them play well with 6.5.3 because of the drop down menu.

Is your TD2 a T5362 UMTS 850/2100 (Telstra)?
Can anyone comment as to whether the HTC stock WWE 2.53 would be compatible w. the UMTS 850/2100 radio? It would be good to be entirely free of the Telstra modifications.

Predictive text display problem in XT9 mode with new ROM 2.53
Hi
Question for anyone running the new 2.53 ROM recently made available by. HTC
Just upgraded to the new 2.53 ROM and with the XT9 function that I use for predictive text using just the phone pad keyboard (which I prefer over the QWERTY keyboard on the small Diamond 2), now as I type letters, what is displayed on the screen is the actual first letter of each key I press, while potential word matches are shown in highlight boxes. Previously what was displayed in the message screen was the actual predicted word as you typed letters and if it wasn't the word I wanted I could then look at the other options - now, I have to select an option for every word I type.
So with the option for word completion turned on in XT9 mode and using the phone pad keyboard which I always prefer to use, if I type the letters to spell 'car', what is displayed are 'aap' and I then need to select 'car' from displayed matches - damn annoying! Anyone else with this problem or is it a new 'feature'??? Or am I just imaging things and this has always been the case and just seems a little different on the new ROM - going crazy!
Only issue may be that I needed to download the ROM from Asia as that is where my phone was purchased to get my serial number recognised so now in the text input settings is an option to use PinYin as the input method (which I have to select) and use the English version on the keyboard so wondering if this is something to do with it?
Thanks for any help you can give
Tim
Yep, highly annoying! Is quite easy to fix though
Fire up a registry editor, navigate to HKLM / Software / Tegic / eT9 and change "ExactInListMode" to 0
Then soft reset.
Also notice you cannot save your added words between resets..

Official ROM update
I would like to update my diamond2 to the last ROM.
The problem is that if I go to http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=912&news_id=596 and put my SN I get Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
If I go to http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=249&cat=2&dl_id=915 it's working, I just downloaded _HTC Touch Diamond2_RUU_Topaz_S2_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.53.707.4_Radio_Signed_Topaz_61.44etc.25.35_4.49.25.91_Ship.exe
Is it safe to install this ROM? Will it be in english?
PS. I bought the phone from a guy (used, not new) and I don't know from where it was bought.

If you put your SN into the asian website and it came up with a ROM it should work, but I don't know for sure.
WWE means worldwide English, so it is an English language ROM.

Yes, you can install it and yes, it will be in English (WWE = World Wide English) If the site let you download it using your serial number, then it's good to go without any tweaking (ie. HardSPL, etc)

[Q] Languages / Marketplace access

Microsoft announced that WP7 devices that they are currently releasing will NOT receive any language updates and that country's that are currently blocked from Marketplace/Xbox Live will always be blocked on those devices.
I really want the HD7, but also want to be able some time in the future to set the device to my native language (Dutch) and to use the Marketplace for the Netherlands once developers start putting dutch apps on there.
I've seen some ROM's already posted here and was wondering whether such things can be changed in ROM's once Microsoft releases more languages on WP7 in mid 2011.
The question really is:
Can i get a HD7 already and have good faith that this will be able in the future (with all the talk round jailbreaking the OS or custom ROM's) or should i wait for other device releases in the Netherlands and stick with poor old WM6 for the time being?
Moved to General.

[Q] I9000 Languages

Hi all,
I want to start by saying that this forum has been very helpful to my in customising my GT-I9000, and I want to thank you all for this help. I have had a Galaxy S for about a week and I am really liking the flexibility of this phone. But without your efforts, there would not be near as much flexibility.
So I have a question about language support across different firmwares. It requires a little explanation, so I apologies in advance if it is a bit too much text. I use linux a fair bit, but I am new to Android so I dont know many of the details of the system yet. I am a n00b, however, I want to show that I actually put effort into what I want to do instead of just asking for someone else to do it for me from the beginning.
I would like to have the ability to send SMS in Hebrew from the SGS native messaging software. I find no problem inputting in Hebrew using various Keyboards such as AnySoftKey. However, the sms is received as a series of question marks. I guess it is a lack of character support, probably somewhere between typing the text in Hebrew, and the phone transmitting it across the networks.
I could install a firmware from an Israeli network as they have Hebrew input on their firmware versions. However, these are not very up-to-date and I would rather use a newer firmware (I have JPX with Darky's Gingerbread 6.0 mod, which is very up-to-date ).
I want to take it step by step, so I think I should start with the Keyboard input.
AnySoftKeboard works well for Hebrew input, and the text it makes works in all apps except the Messaging app (although it looks just fine on my side). But Perhaps the Samsung Keyboard would work?
I have looked at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796854
It describes methods of porting Keyboards from one firmware version to another. This is specific to porting the Eclair keyboard to Froyo.
So I tried to apply this logic to my needs. But I have difficulties knowing which firmwares have Hebrew language input support, yet alone a keyboard that is compatible with JPX. I tried with the keyboard from firmware I9000JHJP8 (only one I am sure has Hebrew support), but the porting following the instructions in the thread did not work. I am sure with some trial an error (and probably lots and lots of error ) I would eventually be able to get it to work.
So before I start trying to get it to work, I would like to know if you think that changing the keyboard would make any difference, or, if the problem lays somewhere else?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Hey. I hate to bump this but its gone to many pages from the first.
I wont bump again as I guess there may be no answer for this question.
Still Should I bother trying to convert the keyboard as i suggested above?

UK keyboard dock assignments for TF701T running CM 11 ROM

Hi guys,
Just getting into the whole rooting/flashing scene and so far I'm loving it. I've recently flashed the latest CM11 snapshot build (2015-09-01) onto my Asus Transformer TF-701T and almost everything is working great.
At the moment I have one minor issue which is the keyboard dock: the CM11 build uses the US keyboard assignments but my keyboard dock layout is UK. All the standard buttons work as they should but some of the shift fuctions are different. For example: 'Shift 3' on the UK keyboard layout is '£' (pretty important for those of us who work in stirling!) but on a US assignment it gives you '#'. Also the @ and " assignments are effectively reveresed.
It's not a huge problem and there are workarounds, it's just a little annoying so would be nice to fix. I figure it's probably not that hard to dig into the system folders and tweak the keyboard assignments file manually... only problem is I'm a complete novice and have no idea what I'm doing or where to look. I was hoping one of the kind members of XDA might be able to help!
Thanks in advance!
All the best,
George
I have the original dock in the French version of the CM 11, the lack of Polish language, I have no Polish characters
Maybe for me it is a solution
I have the solution:
in the play store search zenui keyboard and install
You would have as a stock ROM
There, choose your language and everything works
