Question TWRP - OnePlus 10R / Ace

We badly need Twrp for this device. To me actually even Twrp was surpassed by that great small recovery OS which was Orangefox, still functioning well in i.e. Oneplus 5.
There is a Chinese web site (will post it in the future, don't have it with me now) which lists a series of tools for the latest Oneplus devices, and TWRP support is listed as in development.
Let's hope it comes soon...

Any news?

It will be nice at least to have in stock recovery option to clear cache, eventual dalvik cache

We do not have a dedicated recovery partition on our device (it's actually the same for MOST recent A/B devices). The recovery is actually part of the main operating system, basically using the same kernel as the main system. Even if we manage to compile a custom recovery for our device, it won't be really useful for installing zips, as it will be overwriting itself if installing those zips.

In realitty is a midranger phone... so not so important... And if you look at our device on xda forum is almost dead. Unused.

We have a TWRP in testing. Will publish after some testing and if everything goes according to the plan.
Currently we have used files from CPH2423 i.e. 80W variant.
Will update soon.

It's still under development; the TWRP tree is 80% complete. Just few rounds of testing and it should be available for public.
NOTE: As of now TWRP will be only for OOS12.
As soon as public release is available, I will create a new thread on xda and I can also let you know here.
If you want to stay updated, you can join the 10R/Ace Discussion group - https://t.me/OnePlus10ROfficial

The devs are still working on it. Some issues were there. They want it to stable before they can release it, since no unbrick tool is there.
Simultaneously they are also working on Device Trees for custom ROM.

[RECOVERY] [UNOFFICIAL] CWM 6.0.3.0 TOUCH BASED RECOVERY fully working NO REBOOT BUG

Welcome happy campers
Here is a fully working pretty much fully tested port of Clockwork Mod Recovery 6.0.3.0
Big thanks to UTKANOS at #cyanogenmod irc channel for his help in building this for me to test till everything was working
FEATURES
All features in 6.0.3.0 based CWM recoveries are implemented
Touch screen working
Restore/Backup functions
All wipe functions
All Mount functions
Install from sd and Internal storage
Generally all features you expect from working ClockWorkMod recovery
without further ado here is the link to the recovery image: http://d-h.st/nMv
md5 Checksum : 8f7dda170425218f47717a9c9c931bea
source code at utkanos' github: https://github.com/utkanos/android_device_htc_golfu
Thanks goes out to mmmcfc for his initial work on the recovery we worked on to bring you this version, his original thread at :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785010
to install recovery is same as always for people who already know
for those of you who are new to this and do not know but are at the point of installing a custom recovery through a rom install guide please simply turn off your Desire C device, drop out the battery just in case fastboot is on in your rom settings, replace your battery then hold the volume down key and hold power button till you boot to bootloader.
Ensure phone is on fastboot setting (will have fastboot written in red if you are) plug in the usb cable and it should say fastboot usb now then enter this command from terminal window that is in the directory where you have this image downloaded to
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.0-golfu.img
with any joy you should now be able to reap the benefits of touch screen enabled up to date CWM recovery
enjoy
p.s. if you have issues installing this or do not know what our doing either do not install OR search the forums for root guide and recovery install guides and if you cannot find something relevant feel free to pm me
dont forget to come to our irc channel at irc.freenode.net ##HTCDesireCcm9 (dont forget to put two hash signs not one) we are friendly in the channel and are hoping it will begin to grow alongside development for the device
thanks
soon to come wifi fix for CM9, hopefully soon CM10 build and with all the fixes no doubt many custom roms from many users throughout our device section

Not totally sure dude about your question as this was actually built by utkanos with no device with me and russell testing the builds as they were made till we had it working with no reboots and with fully accessing adb rights when in recovery. i had massive issues when using th TWRP recovery that was posted so it may be TWRP specific that your issues lie. the source code is all available at utkanos github linked in the OP so you can surely tell from that if device tree is correct. if not maybe try to rebuild the trees. i myself have little experience in these matter XD

any thanks you guys want to click my way are welcomed and would be nice, amazing that over in my general section post to this thread there is a total of maybe 3 thanks per nearly 2,500 visitors to the link

Just one question, am i blind, or this one has no clean battery stats?
Is it really needed, and is there a workaround (which file to delete)?

A couple of people were starting to work on CyanogenMod 12. Hopefully they are still interested in working on these projects. I am posting this as a place to share branches and collaborate if there is still interest in helping. My trees build perfectly. And the recovery baked from the cm-12 tree has display, touch working. But while installing zip I get a weird status-7 'failed to execute update binary.but since the Display, touch is working,it will be a pretty easy for working LP build. Please noobs stay away from asking weird questions.

Philz doesn't support --block flashing or the new method of flashing LP.our twrp has not properly implemented fstab for installation and I'm not able to make twrp with new fstab in cm-12.0 tree as it is throwing a lot of error messages and I currently don't have any kitkat based ROM tree due to my computer corruption few days ago.
I will be trying a clean build 2day.

CWM/Philz is dead. CM has moved to CM Simple Recovery with CM12 and has ditched CWM. If you follow Gerrit, you'll know.
CM Simple Recovery is quite nascent ATM. TWRP is the recovery to beat, especially on Lollipop sources.
Sorry @ashwin007 for posting this on this thread while still being a n00b. I posted this to prevent further paranoid posts about the death of CWM. Apologies.

Well, sorry I thought it is less than 215MB. I didn't think of it.
My last device was a motorola defy and developer @Quarx has a booting 5.0 lolipop build. perhaps he could enlighten us on how to make a booting build for out device.
Moto defy came with android 2.1 and kernel 2.6 so he should be able to help.
Now even moto e has received the "motorola update services app" update!! So maybe we are pretty close enough to get android L now!!! I think rather than rushing up things for condor cm12 and getting a buggy build after soo much hardwork wouldn't feel good!! Maybe we can wait a while for the android L to hit moto e ans then finally build cm12 which would be more stable too!!

[DEV][G925F] CyanogenMod 12.1 Development

Hello there, it's time to get this rolling somewhere.
This is a Development-Thread. Please don't post if you aren't a developer.
What this IS
This is a Development thread, a platform for developers to discuss the development of CyanogenMod for the G925F. It's made so that we can get this working, fix up the problems - because there will be severe ones - and achieve a working official Rom at some point.
At the moment it's @OldDroid and me with help, but it would be awesome if interested devs would join in so that we can make this a team effort.
In short, it's a Dev-Thread in a dev section.
Right now it doesn't work and I'm not sure that it will work.
What this IS NOT
This is NOT a working Rom. Not even close. I can only link you to the kernel repo and soon to device and vendor, as they are almost completed for a first try.
And yes, there is no download link for the Rom. Because there isn't anything you could download yet.
This is also NOT intended as a Q&A thread. Please don't ask if your variant will be supported, I will respond by trolling. Firstand only priority is to get this running, then we'll talk about variants.
And ETA is an evil word with no meaning here. I work slowly, deal with it
Where are we currently?

It's apparently not without some minor casualties, but we got it. Huge thanks to @RaymanFX, he's helping me, since I'm not that much into CM building yet and I'm also basing this project on his CM for the N910C, which's 5433 is darn similar to our 7420, so we got a pretty good base to begin with.

Good luck develop without documentation for exynos chipset.
But can you tell us more in details how porting works and what are the challenges with it.
Is it hard to develop a rom without samsung binary files and drivers? I know they are proprietary and closed soruce.
If just Samsung could be more developer friendly like Sony.
We can request source for closed binaries here, http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=inquiryView, most likely they wont answer

I can't say what the challenges here will be, since I couldn't manage to even flash it yet - Second build is compiling since hours now. For now it's using all the proprietrary stuff we managed to grab and some additional stuff from the 5433 CM. But without booting it's hard to tell what won't work and might present a challenge ^^ From what I saw it'll be tough to just get the modem running. The hard part is to write the drivers yourself

It's interesting that you can use drivers from 5433, which is a 32bit platform. Most drivers are not compatible when you switch from 32bit to 64bit if I am right?

Both is 5.1.1 and Sboot seems to clear the boot as well, everything seems to go fine, it just doesn't boot. :/ Trying with building the kernel during the build itself instead of using a prebuilt one and see how that goes

I would personally flash an Engineering boot loader while doing this, to ensure version checking is not the issue.

Sorry guys I can't lie I think it's a complete mess I will be building a device tree for this device I just need A LOT of time and then I will try building some ROMs for this device reason why it will take so long is because I am learning myself and this will be the first time I am doing it hope it goes successfully for me
Hi guys! I've being making ROMs for the original Mi Mix and decided to take the plunge and get a Mix 3 5G. I've built up these skeleton trees and made LineageOS, but I haven't received my new device yet so I can't test it. It's horribly unoptimised and still has a lot of bloat from unnecessary drivers (hence the 1gb size) and I have no idea if this will even boot but here is the initial build if anyone is brave enough to install it. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WOsXzgpdA8qTP6QWHi1gNW131dqgdDIC
This is an engineering build to help track down bugs so ADB debugging is enabled as standard. Any logs would be appreciated.

I didn't realise that I didn't have link sharing on, should be ok to download now. I haven't uploaded my tree to GitHub yet, but once I do it will be available at https://github.com/Inkypen79/device_xiaomi_andromeda

Don't get too excited yet lol. This LineageOS build is pie, once I know that's stable then I can move to ten. I brought up the original Mi Mix to ten so I have an idea of what's required.

Lmao I realized when it said 16.0 aha that's fine tho still a lot more progress than me
I keep getting this error when trying to flash...the suggestion was to update twrp but 3.3.1-0 is the only one we have available ....
E: String resource 'zip_compatible_err' not found.
Using default value
Zip Treble compatibility error!
Invalid zip file format!
Any suggestions?
i think its my fault lemme just factory reset my phone install stock and see what happens. Yep our twrp is broken as after install it bricks whole device , and I know this isn't from the ROM because basically twrp bricked my phone from reloading to fastboot, it's very broken , but no one has been able to test that out because there hasn't been much to flash recently. Therefore @Inkypen will build some twrps for me to try and flash and see if his builds do work , fingers crossed they will

Sure there's a group chat where more info is posted there...updates etc https://t.me/mimix3_5G
I also have a mi mix 3 5g on the way, will be happy to test once i get it, thx alot for you work!
So far I have built a working version of Orange Fox recovery. Still waiting for my device to arrive, then some real work can start

I should be getting my Mix 3 5G this week, the parcel is allegedly with my local post office already. I'd love to help out to get LineageOS working on it. I have minimum experience having flashed custom ROMs onto my current phone (Mi Max helium) as well as that of my Mrs (Mi 6 sagit), but I'd love to get more involved if possible. I don't need it to be my daily driver immediately, so I just need enough confidence in what we'll be doing here so as not to turn it into an expensive, cute brick The chassis being ceramic, it's already half way there right off the bat, but let's not get any closer please

Surely they are already working on it. But it just takes some time. At the moment everything is working optimally despite fastboot. Even root is possible.

Still no sign.... Orangefox also quiet...
The guy who made lots of xiaomi TWRP recoveries stopped developing.
... are kernel (or device/vendor) repos released for it?
This would help.
Do we have TWRP and/or released kernel sources from other Qualcom 888 based devices out there?

Xiaomi Mi 11 kernel source code is out, the device is codenamed "venus" - Gizmochina
Yesterday, Xiaomi announced Mi 11 as the world’s first smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The handset already went for pre-order soon after the launch and is set to go on sale for the first time on January 1. Ahead of its sale, the company has even released this device’s kernel...

I read on Xiaomi.eu somewhere that there are issues with how the partitions are made and TWRP is very difficult to make for this. They said it's gonna take either a very long time before a recovery is made, or maybe not even at all.

Yeah they changed everything over to GKI 1.0 and no one seems to be supporting it, although they found somewhere on a Chinese site a recovery that works (TWRP) if you boot it (don't flash it) and unencrypts the data. It's in the XDA forums now.

Yeah Mauronofrio is out, too much work for no return. He was pretty much the last standing open-source TWRP dev out there for tons of devices. The ones from China never get source released... Which would mean that someone would have to pickup the TWRP project and re-engineer it to fit the new GKI 1.0 then 2.0 platforms that run off that ACK. That's a lot of work. I'm talking about keeping the TWRP project open-source. It would very nice if Google stepped in since they are experts on the new format, but no such luck.

Interesting, that would explain also the lack of custom ROMs? But I read that the source code is released, even before the device was launched. Isn't there GKI-support to be found in there?

Yes they released source there are just no instructions anywhere on how to build the kernel #1 and the GKI modules #2 and combine into a build.
The new Xiaomi.eu weekly includes TWRP for Venus (Mi11) as well as Star (Mi 11 Lite 5G, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra, MIX FOLD) (it's a bootable TWRP, but persists after installation). Seems last week's has added Alioth (Mi 10S, Redmi K40). So I would expect a TWRP for Haydn to show up soon in the weekly Xiaomi.eu releases. Seems they forgot the haydn doesn't have TWRP yet so you can't actually install it! Tried the updater app no go, it can't boot to recovery because they don't have one yet, even though on Xiaomi.eu they say it's available, can't find it anywhere.
BTW the only TWRPs I can actually find are for Venus and Star.
haydn TWRP is not working: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=14943124697586336730 remember: fastboot boot twrp-3.5.1-haydn.img ... although I tried everything, this TWRP just doesn't work - you boot right into the system after the fastboot boot step. Tried everything I can think of, always boots to system. Guess it's still a waiting game...

Just one more question since this has been bothering me; what would be needed from Xiaomi? Instructions on how to build the kernel? Have they ever done this before about something like this? Like, is it a reasonable thing to ask them to release instructions? I know some people working there, I could forward the request.
Well I've run this by many many devs.
The issue with the GKI 1.0 and ACK is that you must download the entire AOSP build environment and make sure it works with the separate ACK (Android Common Kernel) and then properly loads the GKI modules from a separate build step. Together they make 1 kernel. This ACK per Linux Version and across vendors should be AOSP and identical. Therefore, a single build should work across all Linux 5.4 based kernels.
But... most devs are just skipping AOSP and inlining the GKI modules so they can have 1 build step. Not exactly what Google intended, but way less storage, and you can use Clang or GCC or whatever you want.
I think what OEMs are posting is merely the entire combined source code, no 2 step build process. Only a single file for the QGKI config portion. Which won't build your GKI modules as it comes. A build script for this (Q)GKI portion would be extremely beneficial.
If any OEM walks through the build steps 1) how to create only the QGKI modules and 2) how to assemble them into 1 kernel with the ACK, that would be great for devs. It just hasn't happened. So we get hacked kernels for the 888 running Linux 5.4.
