How to flash ASOP based ROMs? - Redmi 9C Questions & Answers

Hi
A few months ago I was able to flash on angelica lineage-17.1-20210326-UNOFFICIAL-angelica.zip and this worked well. Yesterday I tried to flash the s same image again and after several attempts I get a black backlit screen when lineage is meant to start. I reflash stock _V12.0.10.0.QCRMIXM then a recovery - PBRP 3.0.1. From there I was having issue
What is the flashing process for an unlocked device that has something like TWRP/Pitch Back/Orange Fox installed?
I guess once you unlock and can flash the recover you use the recover to flash the zip, then reboot and flash magisk.zip and everything should work? Or is there some step missing.

I had this problem too with the google pixel 7 pro. Can't help ya there on that one. I even tried re installing older firmware and it still didn't work. Maybe the bootloader is permanetly downgradable but the firmware of the stock is. Just a guess. Lineage os 20 is an unofficial build at the moment that receives hardly any updates.

I can't flash any Android Oreo ROM

Hello, I have a problem with my Xiaomi Redmi 4X phone, as I said, I can not flash any Custom ROM for Android 8.1 All this happened after I put my phone in service to replace the display on which I've broken it. Now any version of Android 8.1 I try to flash results in a bootloop. I have to mention 3 things
1. In TWRP when flashing I noticed that all Custom ROMs are stuck in "Flashing system files ..." for a few seconds after saying that it ended flash-but did not abssolut anything.
2. Now a few hours I accidentally flashed Pixel Experince, but now I have the same problem.
3. I can not flash any versions of TWRP.Not much but...
THIS IS HAPPENING ONLY ON THE ANDROID OREO ROMs, Nougat ROMs works perfectlly
Try to flash first latest version of twrp or you can flash redwolf recovery then flash firmware v40 then try clean flash for oreo roms
As mentioned by above user...(latest TWRP recovery and firmware is must)
Flash latest TWRP recovery, 3.2.1-0 should be fine but there's update available 3.2.2.-0 so any will do.
Next, flash latest firmware.
Clean flash is must when changing OS.
It's most likely you don't have latest TWRP recovery and firmware.
Do backup first.

MIUI update bricked my phone?!

My Mi 8 got bricked by the latest MIUI update. I installed the software update from settings and clicked reboot and it booted straight to TWRP (more on that in a bit). I tried rebooting to system but it just went straight back to TWRP. I have unlocked the bootloader and also rooted my phone but as I kept the stock ROM I wouldn't think this would break it. In hindsight, after doing a bit of looking around it seems like people tend to reflash stock.img before updating or something when they've rooted their phone? Wish I'd known that before I clicked update.
I tried flashing a different ROM but when I go to reboot it just says "no OS installed. Are you sure you want to reboot?" and just goes into bootloop stuck on the Mi logo
using fastboot adb tools I can boot it into TWRP (has never worked using the volume and power buttons) and flashing ROMs seems to go okay but reboot says no OS installed and it bootloops, as I said.
I've tried flashing the latest MIUI build for my device, pixel experience, lineage OS and all of them yield the same results. Happy to answer any questions and try out any suggestions that anyone has. I'm really quite desperate!
SOLUTION: I flashed the stock firmware using the xiaomi mi flash tool. This fixed pretty much everything apart from now the camera doesn't work lol
What twrp you are using?

Sensors stopped working - even after persist flash

So i already did some searching, but nothing yet, maybe i' m overlooking something
Soi did a full recovery with mi flash tool, no dice, then took the persist out of it and flashed it with twrp, no dice, so now i reverted back to Lineage since i can't stand MIUI, but yeah, now i still don't have sensors running
The fastboot image i used is 11.8, which is the euro image as far as i know (got my device here in europe), is there something i'm completely overlooking?
Had this issue with my Pixel Experience rom - do sensors work in Miui? If so, perhaps your method of flashing is dodgy/ the rom has issues.
Flash the permissive zip. It happens sometimes when it's set to enforcing. People were talking about it on Syberia 3.6 post, check it out, there's a link to download there.
I had this same issue as well. I solved it by reflashing back to stock with MiFlash tool and using V11.0.5.0 Stock MIUI ROM.
After that boot the phone and go through the initial phone setup process.
Then you can flash TWRP Recovery (twrp-3.3.1-0-cepheus.img).
In TWRP flash vbmeta.img. After that you can flash and boot your Custom ROM with sensors working.
Do not flash any other firmware file in TWRP. I have seen other ROM threads mentioning the need to flash a fw file but don't do that.

Redmi Note 9 Bootloop to recovery - help needed

Hi all,
I have a rooted redmit note 9 that was running the stock rom (EU version i believe as i am UK based) perfectly well for several months until today when then latest over the air update installed and my phone is now stuck in a bootloop where i can only access the custom PBRP recovery (installed from when i rooted previously). I can also access fastboot. I have tried wiping all data and cache etc, i have tried reflashing the magisk patched stock rom that previously worked, i have also tried flashing vbmeta that i flashed previously but still no luck. This is my only phone so I really need to get it working again.
I was about to try re-flashing the stock rom with SP tool but it tells me the scatter file is invalid.
Not sure what else to try now. I also note that when i PBRP loads up it always asks for a password however i dont have a password on the device.
Please could someone suggest something i could try?

Thanks very much for your response. Based on your advice i tried to flash the latest Kraken 11 Vanilla rom from this fourm, however after installing via TWRP now i can't even get into recovery anymore, just goes straight to fastboot.
Any other suggestions please?
I have now managed to get back in to TWRP and tried flashing lineage latest rom but still i am stuck in a boot loop taking me to fastboot this time.
Please can someone help suggest hwo i can get my phone working agian. At this point i dont care which rom i end up (custom or stock) with as long as i can get it to function again
If your device is rooted, you can NOT update the system using the OTA (over-the-air), or the device will be stucked in bootloop.
If your device is rooted, you need to update the system MANUALLY, using the fastboot or spflashtool.
I suggest to update the system using the fastboot.
Now, you need to flash the whole MIUI again, except userdata and you will have your device back.
For anyone with a asimilar problem i eventually managed to fix my issue by using miflash tool version 20180528 and flashing merlin_eea_global_images_V12.0.10.0.QJOEUXM_20210413.0000.00_10.0_eea_c4a9d5d7fc fastboot version which i downloaded from the xiami site.
I had to try this multiple times because the extraction of the file did not seem to be correct on the first attempts.

Bootloop after flashing

It all started 1 month ago when my phone stopped working for 3 days, then went really slow.
Luckily I had the time to unlock it and I started trying to fix it today, but it won't work.
I tried to flash it with the latest EEA Rom on the MiFlash tool (succeed, but then it bootloop).
I also tried to flash it in recovery mod with OrangeFox but again it doesn't change anything
Btw phone is a Redmi Note 9 PRO (idk if the PRO does change anything)
Could you be more specific?
What did you unlock? Bootloader? Did you root the bootloader after?
Is it the correct rom for your device ( I know little of EU/EEA variants (I believe your choice here may be wrong) )
If you flash recovery then reboot into recovery, and it's still stock, you are using an unrooted bootloader.
Hello, thanks for the answer
This is hard to be specific as I've tried countless things and every one of them lead to others countless things not working either.
So yueah I unlocked the bootloader, and I think I'm in root already because when I try to install magisk via orangefox I get the following error
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/MAGISK/Magisk-v23.0.zip'Which I believe tell that there is already another program rooting the bootloader.
About the ROM, I've tried severals of them, Global, EU, EEA, with Fastboot or Recovery, with different android version
Latest I've tried was :
joyeuse_eea_global_images_V12.0.4.0.QJZEUXM_20210423.0000.00_10.0_eea_8b93dea9fd
Then success, and bootloop
(Either the installation complete and nothing work, either the installation doesn't complete and I have to lookup for 1H30 where is it coming from)
how do I know if it's still stock after rebooting into recovery ?
Thanks a lot
