Question Android 12L vs Android 13, which is the best to day of today, October 2022, - Redmi Note 10 Pro

Which is the best in performance, battery, stability for the Redmi Note 10 pro? 12, 12L or 13?
I come from Miui and wanted to try AOSP roms, what do you advise me?
I seek balance between performance and customization.
I wanted to know advantages and disadvantages of each one.
Thanks in advance.

Android 13 is pretty good, though I like 12/12L because of MIUI cam being ported to those ROMs

Personnaly, I'm always looking to the future. That's why I prefer use Android 13.
I used crDroid 8 (A12) for months as daily driver and it was working fine, except mic problems in the beginning.
Since no A13 version of crDroid is announced to date or in development and I wanted to migrate to A13, I searched something else.
I’m now using ProjectElixir 3.2 (Android 13) as daily driver.
Why ?
It's the third rom A13 I found on XDA with Arrows and Evolution a few time after the last Google’s release.
I installed and tested those 3 roms and I decided to remain using ProjectElixir.
It's just a question of personal taste.
In any case I will not come back to A12 because each new version of Android contains novelties.
And further I will not spend time trying all existing roms.
My phone is the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Question, will you ever miss the ported MIUI cam from the Android 12/12L ROMs?

Yes, of course.
MIUI cam is missing for now in the dozen of A13 roms existing for my device.
I'm using Gcam 8.6 which is working fine.

Unless you have big requirements (if you don't have a camera, ...), Gcam is enough for me.

Any android 10 rom for mi 9?

I searched for android 10 rom but I can't find. Did any one find an official or unofficial build for mi 9?
I like to use Miui 11 by xiaomi.eu (second link). It is based on the latest Chinese version (Android 10). If you have any question search first.

I don't how far along they are concerning usability but I prefer to wait for more stable stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I'll try and use any clean android 10 Rom that might (ever) come but I like my phone to work as it should :victory:
For now, yes, only miui based for android 10, which means you might as well use any miui version since they look so much alike!
is the miui 11 from xiaomi.eu any good? can you remove the xiaomi apps with titanium etc?

You can remove apps with titanium as in any ROM or android phone with root privilegies...
If the ROM is any good, just try it yourself and take your own conclusions.
Ive tried Extendedui 1 and Derpfest 10-Official-cepheus-20200105
Both are very good, some more adjustable things in derpfest. SOT around 6 to 7 hours with velis autobrightness, leandroid.
Is there a ROM you know with more adjustable settings like flip to mute, automatic callrecorder... and a good battery management like in syberia pie?
Here you'll find an overview of ROMS

If you need a stable daily driver, I can only advise you to stay on Android 10 until 11 gets out of alpha phase.
Slowly features will come to 11, of which you for now will probably miss one or another in comparison to your Android 10 ROM also.
Switching to a ROM in such an early stage isn't something I would generally advise against.
If you are willing to accept bugs and can live with a minimum of features, installing and reporting about alpha / beta builds will immensely help development.
But you said you need a stable daily driver, so, yey.

Well, in the first phase of a new android release all ROMs
- Are basically the same (pure aosp with different branding)
- Have no additional features to pure aosp
- Will have many issues to sort out in general and for the respective device (like bugs, fast draining, random reboots, inconsistencies across versions).
- Might conflict or not be fully compatible with third party software (gapps, Magisk, any random app).
Any of these points might be the case still, so I wouldn't advise anyone expecting a stable daily driver to use android 11 for now.
None of these points has to apply though, as time for development passes.
If you want to urgently try out an 11 ROM and you don't heavily depend on your phone's functionality, why not do it? I also did it (and moved back to 10).
The question anyone should ask him- or herself though is: Which advantages do you expect from it?
That is, other than a higher version number...

Thank you for all those informations. I was hoping Android 11 would bring more functionality, stability and smoothness, but it seems to me rather the opposite. There is also no more security patch for Android 10 looks like. Everyone is working on Android 11.

What I'm saying isn't android 11 specific, but counts for every instance in which a new android release comes out.
It has been the same with android 6 and 7, then with 7 and 8 and so on.
Android 11 might bring functionality, stability and smoothness. But it is too early in development to expect all of this just yet, is all I'm saying.

Question When should we expect Android 12 ROMs?

Pretty much like the title says; quite a lot of phones are getting beta Android 12 ROMs, when should we expect them for the Mi 11 series? Or is there some kind of conflict holding back ROMs ? Because apart DerpFest or LOS, it doesn't seem developers are really interested with this phone. Is it because Xiaomi didn't release their kernel sources yet with their Android 12 update? Or bad luck with the model? I'm genuinely curious.
I don't wanna sound like a spoiled person, but I'm not really a fan of MIUI and would love to have choices with ROMs and the current situation is sad.

Sorry bro...but just bellow your post is link to stock beta A12...and xiaomi eu is releasing beta weekly for good few weeks already as well....
But if you are focused on aosp its not easy....as it has to build from scratch and who can invest weeks of hard work for free? And even then its not like years a go....when we started with samsung galaxy s1 or s2 and we had 30 custom roms...it was easy back then....no bootloader lock and all code available....so be patient and maybe you get what you want sooner then later..
For me i would be interested more into MIUI 13 and what is going to bring to the table.....should be released before end of the year....and things may change a bit....
I am also waiting for Android 12 ^^.
The only thing holding me back to try out the beta is the factory reset (I dont want to reinstall everything just for the beta) and the bootloader unlock (Risk of losing the fingerprint scanner).
But I really want Android 12 XD.
you can get A12 roms from xiaomi[dot]eu.

"We are testing" who is "we" ? MIUI 13 is on Beta and Xiaomi 12 is only for dev, new Snapdragon & MIUI 13 are not optimized, even on Pixel A12 have a lot of bugs, like A12 / MIUI 12.5...
So when all is on dev/beta, feedback or bashing at this point is useless.
In general MIUI is a ****, especially for the launcher (not allowed 3rd party launcher to using gesture) and apparently this most important thing is not scheduled in MIUI 13.
I hope just a AOSP A12 for using properly my Mi 11 before change my device

Never understand why people are so keen to flash a A13 rom that's not anywhere stable at the moment as much as Devs say it is stable. Is it just for the sake of having the lastest Android version but dealing with bugs everyday.
cDroid 12.1
PixelOs 12.1
CherishOs 12.1
Everything else will give you endless headaches and 3 hours of reconfiguring your phone after you realise that a A13 build is a POS right now.

not true, i am currently using cherishOS 4.0.5 android 13 now few days. Didn't found any major bug, rom running smooth as pixelOS a12. Normal stuff like, playing normal games, voice calling, social media and watching videos no issues even the battery backup is also good. Devs put lot of efforts for us. A13 cherishOS is a great rom to be used as daily driver. thanks i hope this helps for someone.

It's relative, devs test roms on us for their learning and we sometimes like what we get. What I've observed over 7 years of using customs roms is that devs are less interested in bringing a ROM development to real stability, what has become important is "let's be first" hence this rush to port roms to the newest android version. Except for cDroid every ROM for RN10 Pro is a pixel port there's no real bespoke elements. I guess unlimited photo storage is the thing people want here. That's my take.

i do not know about others. I am also using custom roms and phone software customization for more than 11 years. On who else other then a user devs will test there rom for early testing of bugs or any other issue, (apple also releases several beta version to user's to test there ios (6-7 beta) and then release the final build to public). not all roms are stable that i agree. there are specific roms like for gaming for battery for overall stability. It's user choice to test roms or listen to other user's review and then install rom according to there needs. many mobile companies just launch phone and then do not provide proper software update support, like micromax, xiaomi, redmi, samsung(before) etc.. ASOP custom rom extends the life of a phone(like poco f1, redmi k20 pro, redmi note 5 pro and many many others). Whatever the reason is but in the end user's are getting more without any hard work and yes devs will also think about themselves too and they deserves it. Devs have to meet the user's demand so i think yeah they rush to port to latest android version and also devs have a year to stable the rom for us before another android version google releases. not even google's own android 13 is bug free, it has many many bugs which user's face in there costly pixel devices. so yeah these bugs will also come to custom roms.

Question What's the most stable and least problematic custom ROM for SPES?

HI all, what do y'all think is the most stable and least problematic among all the custom ROMs for SPES? I'd like to know 'coz I'm tired of backing up my files and switching to other ROMs when there's something wrong with my current ROM, thanks!
In my case it is Evolution X (both Android 12 and Android 13) for a simple reason:
It is one of the few ROMs that has solved a bug with the Goodix fingerprint readers, which is that it does not let the screen turn off correctly, since it takes the FP as a button. Well, I know that Pixel Experience also solved it but I had a bad experience with that ROM.
Used Pixel Experience for 2 months. It's smooth
Been using Evolution X for a week, my only complaints are some bugs like fingerprint not working until I unlock the phone on some instances
Planning to move to CrDroid sometime next week tho, idk I'd recommend use them all and decide what you should use

Well, then back to official MIUI I suggest. Nobody can assess what "something wrong" means to you. Rom development is an ongoing process, bugs happen. For some a (slightly) lower sot is "wrong" for others the gaming performance is "wrong". I find this kind of questions difficult since more people want just ready to use roms without the more or less hassle that may come with software in development from and for the community and developed by learning hobby developers, enthusiasts or semi professionals or as often seen tech students. This is not how this all here works. I'm using pa sapphire beta for weeks now, which definitely has its pros and cons (for example). But I'm cool with it since it's stable in case of random reboots and its overall performance (nearly no sudden performance drops in general usage). Where for others the small hiccups it has are unacceptable I'm clearly happy with it (until another interesting rom or update comes up ). Long story short, it depends on what "something wrong" means individually since there are several stable and 'well performing' projects out there. Cheers

I actually was on cdDroid since 8.7 but then 8.9 has the goodix bug, which made the phone incredibly annoying to use, so I tried Evolution X on Android 13 and its stable, for now, but I'm probably gonna get back to crDroid when the goodix bug will be fixed.

Too bad,
I'm using crDroid 8.9 (Android 12) right now and I would say it's far the most stable ROM i have used on this phone
I tried all of them from XDA and out of XDA, from the lot of available ROMs, the simpler, less customizable seems to run smoother than all the rest, PixelOS v13 takes the credit. I personally prefer something more customizable, and the better for that is AncientOS-Shield, of course, it could have its cons, as the battery consumption within other things, so, finally, you'll find that you should give it a try in your own, the experience from others also can help you, to decide, not to use it, but to try it (or not)

Would you be able to help with a link please?

The sites where Usually I take a look are: SourceForge, AFH and PlingOS (it stores in SF anyway).
Here is: https://sourceforge.net/projects/spes-roms/files/PixelOS/
Plus, these are the ones, I didn't try it yet, from the "Pixel-ish" line https://download.pixelexperience.org/spes
For Me PPUI 4.8. Most Stable & Simple.
