I'm at my wit's end. HMD global camera app crashes every app that uses it. - Nokia 9 PureView Questions & Answers

So basically after the android 10 "upgrade" my camera became unusable, I went to open camera and it was ok, now though every time I use any app that requires the hmd global camera app it usually crashes the app I'm trying to use or the entire phone, I have installed gcam and it's great, not had a single issues, it is even the default camera app, but still other apps use the old hmd cam app and thus crashes, I am at my wit's end, I can barely use the phone outside general browsing etc.
Any tips, tricks etc would be much appreciated.

I have more or less the same problem. Sometimes everything is ok, but more frequent than not, the camera app freezes for 4 to 5 seconds then resumes for half a second, then freezes again, etc... Other apps have the same problem. When connecting a power cable, everything works fine, until you remove the cable again.
Also, I hear a faint humming sound coming from the phone when I use the camera.

Camera causing phone crash

Anyone else experiencing crashes when they use the camera app, finish what they're doing, close out, use the phone and then go back to the camera? Multiple times I've used it to snap photos and exit, then come back later to launch the camera app only to have it sit, with the icon lit blue and then crash the phone after 2-3 minutes of sitting
Something similar happened within 1 hour of owning the phone for me, wife was testing out the camera and was not waiting for focus and kept tapping the shutter button, phone made the shutter sound in a continuous death loop for a few minutes and rebooted.
Yes, I have experienced a crash from the camera app too. Later, the camera had an error that wouldn't allow me to open the app at all. When I tried to open the camera it just kept displaying "Unable to initialize camera," it took a reboot to fix it. I think it was caused by opening the camera app and sleeping the phone then waking it a few times. Plus, the panorama function has failed me. It didn't crash the phone, but it just didn't work. Hopefully Motorola will address these bugs in the future but I won't be holding my breath.
Yeah it has happened to me twice

Yeah, I've had to pull the battery out to get it to reboot. Pretty craptacular - can't wait for root on this baby
It's happened twice to me. Motorola has admitted the camera app has a bunch of problems that they're working on.
Happens here too

Yes, Matt admitted that the camera is being worked on by Moto and partners between the crashes and the blue tint problem.
Hopefully its only a software problem that can be corrected, the camera app definitely needs some work. Maybe a 3rd party app can help us in the mean time, anybody know anything that works?
Based on recommendations, I just got Camera360.
So far it seems to be working great!
Is blue tint gone?

When the camera works, it takes great pictures. Unless you're talking about camera360?
This is something that we have to deal with when we buy a new phone. Yes sometimes the phones don't have big issues and sometimes they do. Its the curse of new phones. But im very hopefull that an update is right around the corner.

I mean is the blue tint gone with Camera 360, or is it a hardware problem

[Q] Camera Force closing

Seems there is an app that may be causing it. Not entirely sure, but when I first boot the rom clean, the camera works somewhat fine, I can take pictures. However, once I sign in and update/install my apps, something makes the camera force close. I can get it open sometimes for a few seconds, but then it dies, sometimes randomly, sometimes when I push the shutter key. Now, what I have found so far, is that if I lay the phone down so the screen starts out black, allowing light sometimes crashes it, and sometimes makes it more stable, it can take pictures if I do it this way. But it seems to do with the lighting, if it's real bright, it will close instantly. If it's dark, I have more time. I can use other camera apps just fine. It started when Sense 6 came out, tried InsertCoin and RevHD, both wiping system/cache/data and starting fresh. Looking on the forums, but not seeing many other people having issues...anything I can do to see what's exactly going on with my camera app? I like the HTC sense app unfortunately, it's pretty decent. Haven't seen any others that really do the same, does anyone have any recommendations? I've deleted all the pictures as well, still no luck.
Rage, found some files on the SD card (didnt wipe internalSD), it seemed to help, but whenever I hit the shutter button, it dies now. Bah. Although I notice the sound of the shutter getting stuck and going "tick tick tick" like it's about to take the photo. Maybe related to sound.

EVA L09C432B182 Colour camera focus issues.

Hey, I've searched a fair bit for this so apologies if I've missed a thread with the solution! My camera doesn't focus when using the colour camera, the monochrome works perfectly fine and if I clear data and cache, then restart my phone my focus works fine, then just stops working after a while, I think possibly when I open snap chat? Not done enough testing to see if it is down to that - so to me that tells me I am dealing with a software issue. Does anyone who has dealt with this before know of a fix? Cheers!
After further resting I have found this to 100% be a software issue that is triggered by nothing, at times my focus component will return and work fine, and then break in some app using the camera, such as Facebook messenger, snapchat, Instagram, 3rd party camera apps etc, unfortunately after looking it turns out there is several files for the camera, I have yet to have a look into them to see if there is a memory leak being caused somewhere whenever the focus component is activated (that is what I think Is happening as the camera app can use up a lot of RAM, more so than would be required in my opinion) does anyone know if this issue is present in future updates?

I have the same issue since June '17. The only answer I got from Huawei support was "please reset it to the factory settings." I waited to do this all this time, because it seems it goes near bricking !! They say "If the OS is Android 5.1 (or later) installed on your device already, you can not access the device after the reset procedure (factory state-recycling)."
I do not have Facebook messenger, snapchat or Instagram, only 3rd party camera apps ...
"if I clear data and cache": I found an instruction to clear the cache (turn off, the hold Vol Down + Power switch), but it does not work, it only starts in protected mode (known from Windows, the mode in which you can get done nothing really)
Did you get a solution in the meantime ?

NX627J_ENCommon_V2.03 Issues

Hello,
As I own this device for month now, I wanted to share all the software issues I have discovered.
First of all, recording videos. When you move around while recording, the video is choppy. That is pretty much big issue for me as it's one of the features I used to use with previous phone.
Second, selfie camera. When you switch to selfie, default mode is Photo with function "Pretty" set to value 2 - sadly this function mostly makes faces look inhuman (e.g. widening the face) and so having this as default setting when opening the camera app is not really good.
Third - random reboots. I didn't figure out why is it really happening, but it's there. Luckily it has never happened during a call or any activity from my side.
Fourth - when turning off one screen, second screed blinks for very little while. That doesn't really look good either.
Did you also encounter (any of) these issues?

So far so good
I've been using this phone for 3 weeks now
( Without google apps obviously)
This phone is really good
The only issue I've having with this phone is that the screen flickers in some part of the display
Like I'm using all the apps the display is fine but when I'm in Gallery it flickers and it's annoying
I don't know why it's happening
Second the camera quality isn't that great it has all this beautification going on but
I do like that camera family thing it's pretty cool

Guys I have a European z20. The system camera crashes when I try to change from main camera to wide angle or zoom on the tip and shoot. In pro mode instead it works regularly. Anyone who has the european z20 confirm it to me as a bug? Thank you
The phone is lagging with this ugly stock rom. I will try to install the chinese rom, I dont like the global rom, its too bad.
I am willing risk and try this rom. I'm on NC627J_ENCommon_v1.03 and haven't got update for months . I'm guessing if I can flash, can I do it locally on my phone in software update? And is it possible to link me to this rom. I would appreciate it.

Camera app starts very slowly

Hello,
For some time now I have the problem that the camera app starts very slowly.
If it was not loaded before, it takes up to 8 seconds to start.
I no longer have a custom rom on it. It is Stock Miui Global 12.0.2.
I had tried several other roms in the past, but went back to Miui.
I don't have any other camera app installed either.
Other apps that access the camera, such as Google Lens, also take forever before the camera is active.
For me, one of the reasons for buying th Mi 8 back then was the good camera, but since it's so slow, it's just annoying.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?
Greetings
Patrick
