Question Made in China, or Vietnam? - Google Pixel 7

On the box that my Pixel 7 came in the label on the bottom says "Made in China". I had researched this before I bought the phone and was under the impression that Google had moved manufacturing to Vietnam.
Does anyone here have a P7 made in Vietnam?

They are starting to move manufacturing to Vietnam for their flagship phones (I think the A series is already made in Vietnam), but the majority of the Pixel 7s are made in China. More than half of the Pixel 8s may be made in Vietnam.

Yup. Nothing wrong with hating on the Communist Chinese.
And, yes, the Pixel 7 is made in China. Clearly says so on the box. And, it went straight back to Google after I received the phone

I don't see any reason to financially support a country that is actively committing genocide. This isn't a question of racism, but a question of morals.

Unfortunately, far too much is made in China. You have to start somewhere though.

CNN made up a story that Xinjiang was enslaved, and Americans believed it completely even before they had been to Xinjiang, which shows how mentally retarded Americans are. After all, it is a group of demons who exterminate Indians.

Two scammers in one day

So I'm attempting to buy an iPad to use it to show clients photos, instead of printing portfolios. So I turn to good ol' craigslist. Got 2 scam replies. I see they are getting more clever. lol.
#1:
Hey, sorry for the delayed response, but someone already bought the iPad and
picked it up. You might want to try and buy one where I bought mine at. It's
an auction site kind of like ebay that has quite a few iPads.
I am usually able to pick them up there between $130 and $160, I think it's so
cheap because the site is newer and there aren't many bidders yet. Anyways,
I'd recommend you shop there if your still in need of an iPad. The site is
called BIDSAROO.com. I just checked and it looks like they have one
ending soon and the bid is at $53 so far.
When I signed up they gave me this coupon to give to friends, but I haven't used
it yet. Your more than welcome to use it, but I think it expires tomorrow. It's
good for placing some free bids on any auction. The coupon is: free3042
Hope this helps you!
-Chad
P.S. Here is a little secret I'll pass on to you. Right now there is a glitch/hack
on the site that will allow you to block other people from bidding on the item.
When you place a bid, hold down the enter key until the auction counts down to 0.
This should allow you to win any auction instantly. But I'm not sure how long it
last, I'm sure the site is working on fixing the glitch/hack.

Hi, I am getting back to you regarding the 64GB 3G iPad from Craigslist
My name is Arianna and I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
I am selling the ipad for $450 USD. I have attached some pics with it to this email.
The ipad is still available and I hope you are still interested. The ipad was bought brand new from Apple a few weeks ago.
About the ipad I can say it's in perfect shape, as I used it only for a few weeks. Included in the $450 price is everything that came with the ipad.
The ipad is here with me.
I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it.
Please get back to me and let me know if you like the ipad if you're really interested in buying it.
Thanks,
Arianna

Your $450 gets you *only* what came with the iPad, not the iPad itself.

They're just hoping you'll skim over that since it doesn't really make any sense, not until you get the first part anyway...
Deception is fraud, so even though it doesn't say you're actually buying an iPad what they're doing is against the law.

A little under a year maintaining inventory for the US warehouse for a Brazilian shipping company called So' Danca that specializes in dance wear but sells almost everything. Honestly? A lot. There are hundreds of different Android devices you'd have to accommodate for. The only way to even realistically start would be with iPhone cases. Wide spread popularity and only one model to have to maintain inventory for.
If you insisted on specializing in Android phones you'd need to pick a few popular models (like the S3) and start small with them.

Maybe. Depends on a few factors. How much you're ordering determines both the unit price and the profit on each item. Obviously wholesale pricing is cheaper but that requires larger starting capital, which isn't always realistic. There's no reason to order 10,000 units if you're not even sure you can move 500 and be stuck with 9,500 cases that diminish in value when a new model comes out. You should expect to wind up losing a significant amount of money until you get some real data on what sells and how much of it sells around the time of year you're ordering it (hint, Christmas has a huge effect on sales).

[Q] Buying Used Nexus 6, What To Look For?

I've found a couple on Craigslist that look to be in great shape. I'm not concerned about software, I'll flash it immediately. However how can I be sure the phone is legit? Are there any scams that I should be aware of? I've never bought a used smartphone so I don't exactly know what to look for, if anything.
Thanks for any advice!

First, read this thread and be aware of the risks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3104504
1) Try swappa.com instead. It is dedicated to phone sales, provides some minimal intermediation, and vets the serial number of the phones listed.
2) Make sure the prior owner has not just done a factory reset on the phone, but also has removed his Google account from the security setup. (A new feature in Android 5.1.) If he did not do this, the device will be unusable to you.
Fantastic, thank you for that info.

But in general my view is, better a cheaper phone new, than a high range used phone.

1. Smartphones are complex devices. Repair is not always possible. When possible it is expensive.
Smartphones can stop working suddenly.
2. Misuse. You don't know if the used phone is handled with care. For instance dropping and/or contact with water *no warranty repair*.
3. Battery not 100%. Many warranty contracts exclude battery, or a limit of 3 or 6 months.
Not all phones have a removable back. Easy battery replacement not possible.
4. Security block. Since Lollipop the phone could be blocked. There are several posts about that.
5. Bootloader is relocked. Also several posts about problems.
6. A few months after introduction many phones become cheaper.
The main point is the warranty. Here in Europe it is 2 years and mostly 6 months for the battery.
When there is something is wrong the dealer is responsible for replacement/repair.

Yes, all true. That is why used phones are cheaper than new phones. (Also why used cars are cheaper than new cars.) It's all part of supply and demand in the marketplace.
Overall, I have had mostly good experiences buying and selling several used phones. This is especially true lately with the onset of swappa.com (see linked icon at the top of the xda-developers web page) which is dedicated to phones, more transparent than eBay or Craigslist and has a baseline of protections for buyer and seller.
Sometimes I buy new. Sometimes I buy used. When I buy new, it is nice to know that there will be a robust secondary marketplace for that depreciating asset when I am ready for something else.

I think better not compare phones with cars. But I know what you mean.
For me it is not 'black' or 'white'.
It is a point of view and a risk.
And when it concerns used phones the risk is the price. But when someone ask me I will tell him/her 'better buy new'.

Yes that is an interesting thread, which I note is now closed by the mods, who sent the poster to Swappa to handle this instead of trying to litigate this at XDA. IMHO, if this seller was scammed as he says, his mistake was not following Swappa's policy in the first place, notifying Swappa staff immediately before refunding the money.
Swappa policy states:
Seller may void a sale if they suspect fraud on the part of the buyer. In events of suspected fraud the seller must notify Swappa immediately.

I'm curious, too. But Swappa may not be able to help because the seller apparently failed to follow Swappa's established procedure for resolving such disputes at the outset. He might still take his complaint to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, since USPS reportedly was used by the buyer to ship back the alleged return. Postal fraud is a serious criminal offense, over which that agency has jurisdiction. That provides some deterrence against fraud, but of course does not provide victims any compensation.
As for this thread, the lesson to be learned is: If you use Swappa to buy or sell, follow the rules. And if you suspect fraud, follow the established process.

Politicians got involved!
Another site is reporting that at&t received a memo from the FCC, that the Senate & House intelligence committees "raising fresh concerns" about Huawei's plans to launch consumer products through a major U.S. telecom carrier. It cited an intelligence committee report on Huawei's alleged ties to the Communist party as well as China's intelligence & security services.
Seriously? What Chinese business DOESN'T have ties to the Chinese communist party? If they don't, you think they would be allowed to be in business? Plus, what smartphone ISN'T made in China these days? At&t got cold feet because the FCC can put the hurt on them for pretty much anything, and since the house/senate control the FCC purse strings, they go along with it, not to mention it would NOT surprise me one bit if there was a little Apple/Samsung K-street lobbying money being shuffled around to "urge" this memo from the house/senate.
Heck, all phones spy on you, and people click TOS's like nothing. We gave up privacy decades ago...willingly. Sad, but true.

A Note 8 selling for $300 didn't ring red flags to you? You won't find anywhere that cheap right now a legit one. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
Craigslist? Oh your screwed on getting money back. There's fishy people on there. Stay away from craigslist.
FB, Offerup, Letgo, ebay, etc way better. Some knock offs can go for a decent amount. See how much your fake one going for. Post online and let people know its fake. Might be able to get a decent amount of your money back. Seller should of told you regardless.
I’ve accepted my loss lol, I was too naive. I figured if anything someone was going to straight up rob me, not sell me a fake phone. I saw a few of them selling between 300-400, they were all probably scams. It sells for like $90. This knockoff can be used on T-Mobiles network? Might just donate it to someone.

Don't trust people ever online that you don't know. There's always wolfs out there. Don't be a sheep. Be smart. I literally put in my mind everybody is a thief. Although I would love for someone to try to rob me with force. I will help them to hell with my glock 45.
Once again stay far away from craigslist. Yeah donate it to women batter shelter. Claim on your taxes.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard bad things about craigslist. Fake money, robbery, broke products, fake stuff, scams, etc. That site full of scum bags. Delete app and never use again use.

Nice 40. Cal. You can't go wrong with glock. Such a great gun. Definitely most reliable semi pistol hands down.
