Question 90hz/60hz setting not working - Google Pixel 7

Sometimes even if I disable de "smooth screen" option in screen settings, the screen refresh rate keeps at 90hz. No matter what I do, what app I open.
I have developer options disabled.
The only way of forcing the 60hz is by enabling the battery saver mode...
Do anyone has faced this issue? Sometimes restart the device fixed it and sometimes not.

Can't stop my N1 from dimming the screen after ~20 seconds when plugged in

Hi all,
I've had a search around but couldn't find this particular issue discussed.
I have a N1 running CM7. When the phone is plugged in (either on my desk, or in the car) the screen will auto dim to a very low level after approx. 20 seconds after last touch.
This happens if the brightness is set to auto or a manual level. I've gone through all the settings I can find but couldn't find anything regarding this. I have got developer > stay awake enabled, which I guess stops the screen from actually sleeping, but it still goes dim.
The CM7 auto dim settings are disabled.
Any advice folks? I want the screen to not auto-dim after 20 seconds. Out of interest, the 'Car Widget Pro' widget seems to be able to force the brightness if you choose something other than 'auto' in the widget settings. So perhaps I am missing something somewhere else?
It's a real PITA when trying to navigate in the car with google maps as whenever I touch the screen to get the brightness back it disables gps tracking and I have to re-hit the icon, which is distracting whilst driving..
Here's hoping..
Hey, I'm only posting because I had a very similar issue. What I did was go into display settings (while connected via USB) and changed the timeout to one minute (or whatever you want). For me, when I went to change the timeout, no item was selected by default. This happened to me after I installed WidgetLocker for some reason. I doubt I will help but I had a very similar issue...

Screen brightness bug?

I just got my XZ1 Today and straight away upgraded to 4.3.
I am having problems with the brightness, I have turned the 'adapt to lighting' setting off, but each time i go to my home screen my screen brightness goes down, it also does the same when I go to the last page of the app draw. This also occurs when starting games, the brightness will go down in the loading screen and then go normal when the game starts.
Is this a bug/issue, or is this meant to happen? If its the former, is there a fix
Sorry if this sounds newbie
Thanks,
Alex

I donĀ“t think that this is normal !!! Maybe you should do a factory reset: settings ----> Backup&Reset ----> Factory data reset Before doing this you should save your data, e.g with pcc (PC Companion) Hupfully I could help you
PS: Next time questions please in the Q&A section please
I think it's normal, this option is called something like "Optimized Backlight". It could be turned off in one of the earlier firmwares, but that caused random reboots so Sony decided to make it an always-on option and removed the entry from the menu.
Optimized Backlight adapts the brightness according to the displayed content, the more crowded and vivid the picture is the brighter the backlight gets.

I forgot about this Option, but in my case I can not notice any brightness differences in many situations
I did not like the stock brightness controller so I have installed Lux Auto Brightness from google play and its working perfectly

How does the screen dimming/time out actually work?

This has always been confusing and I am looking for clarification on the Lock Screen/ Screen dimming, etc.
So I went into the display settings and set it not to turn off for 1 minute. Then I checked the power saving settings just to be sure the screen would not go dim or lock after 5 seconds. That did not work. Then I checked the security settings to see if something was over ridding every other time out setting and I am lost. Either these settings have never really worked since the original note and android/ google is lazy or I am not doing something right.
Dose anyone have a step by step walk through of all the settings that would affect when the screen dimms and when it locks? (Sometimes I am running music through blue tooth and I don't want to the screen to dim for specific applications also. There has to be a setting somewhere because Google Maps does not allow the screen to dim or lock when in nav mode.

I really wish someone would have answered your question. Mainly since I have the same freaking problem.
When the phone app is running, I am constantly getting dimmed, seconds only to do something.
Tonight I was using an app that monitors BBQ temperatures. Always dims to fast. Set the screen timeout for 10 minutes. Still dimmed after 30 seconds or so.
How does this work? I'm not sure the screen timeout setting does anything.
The screen diming feature is part of the auto brightness function and works by using the ambiant light sensor to adjust the brightness of the display. According to the amount of light detected in front of the display.
Screen locking happens when you haven't used your device for a specific amount of time.

It dims before it locks. That's what I was referring to. I think the OP was as well.
I set the display for 10 minute timeout. It dims and locks the screen in less than a minute. I can't figure out how to stop it.
Is that a clearer question?
Well my screen dims for some seconds before going out, but, always as per the time I set , for instance, if I set to go out after 5 mins of inactivity, it dims after 4 mins 55 seconds, then goes out, I dont use autobrightness, and I use entertainment mode
It was secure lock time setting.
It was disregarding the screen timeout.

Greenify and Auto hibernation issue

I have Greenify setup on my Note 9. Occasionally, I get an "Auto hibernation issue" warning inside the app after unlocking my device. It says, "Greenify detected an early screen lock before auto hibernation could be performed." I've already gone into the secure lock settings and made sure there's a 15 second delay before screen lock, and that my power button does not instantly lock the phone. What else could possibly be prompting this? It's driving me nuts.

Question Screen dimming randomly

Hello,
Recently got this phone and very happy with it. Only issue I have found is that the screen occasionally dims randomly, not by a lot, but noticeable when it happens.
Adaptive brightness is off. System mode is set to dynamic.
Is dynamic system mode the issue? If so which is a good adaptive battery setting which won't affect the screen brightness.
Thanks in advance
I assume its due to the changes in refresh rate. Try setting the refresh rate to a single value (120 90 or 60) and i think you wont see the transition.
Same issue and I have adaptive brightness on. You will open an app and suddenly brightness will turn all the way down. Definitely a bug.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried this at 90hz, for reasonable battery, but it still does it.
Same here! Locked at 90hz, so that's not the problem.
I'm having the same issue. Adaptive brightness off, fixed refresh rate. I've only noticed it when I'm outside in bright light.
same problem.
have zenfone 7 rooted. locked to 90hz. adaptive brightness switched off.
anyone found a solution or cause?
I've noticed it happens when i tilt the phone.
and also when i have an app overlaid over main screen. like YouTube vanced minimised etc.
i think phone somehow might be switching brightness between the small app at the front and the main app on the back and doing it back and forth.
