Anybody still using their Galaxy Gear in 2022/2023+? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I just bought a Galaxy Gear at a really good price on eBay. Just needs a battery replacement (what a surprise for a watch this old, am I right?)
You got any tips for me? Are you running Android or Tizen? I appreciate it.

Galaxy Gear With iPhone

I have been given the galaxy gear, my mate loves the note 3 but didn't want the watch,
I currently have the iPhone 5 and is the gear slightly compatible with it,
the gear is sealed so I don't want to open it, if its of no use,
I have a 5S coming in a weeks time should I be better of getting rid of it and getting a S4 or hold on and wait for the nexus as that will be running the latest version of android so will that be better off,
my last option is swapping the watch for a android watch which looks exactly the same as the omate truesmart, same specs apart from a 3mp camera and 2 screws on the sim slot,
mate bought it back from a trip to china where it cost $150
Would love to keep it but not sure about how it will work with the nexus once release, S4 being my 2nd choice but then thinking will that be a step backwards with buying a phone which has been out for a while now

Won't work with the iPhone. Will work with the Note 3, and S4 and other compatible samsung devices coming soon.
Best bet for the iPhone would be the Pebble, but even it has problems right now with iOS and staying connected to the phone.

I sold my pebble already,
So the gear will only work with samsung devices??
I thought devices with android 4.3 would be compatible,
Looks like I would need to buy a S4 then,
Bought most of the smartwatches now and the gear is the best looking one,

Yes for now until someone possibly hacks things, it only works with Samsung 4.3 phones.
I have a Pebble too and prefer the Gear by a wide margin (mostly due to looks and the SVoice capabilities and apps).

Nope, using the Note 3.
why dont you just get the note 3 or the s4 with snapdragon 800?
Mostly TouchWiz is needed, then 4.3
It will work as a Bluetooth headset with any device

[Q] Anyone using the Gear watch with a Note 1

Hi all,
Is anyone using a gear watch with a note one (n7000) and if you are have you found a custom rom that works with gear manager (so notifications are received on the watch)?
If not can someone point me in the right direction. Gear manager requires Android 4.3+ and touchwiz to work.
The reason I ask is I have a gear watch but I have lost my note 2 :crying: (no insurance) and cant afford to replace it just yet so I am using a note 1 until I can afford an upgrade to a note 3. I have searched this forum and the gear forum but cant see any mention of a note one and gear being used together.
Any advise will be appreciated.
Thanks
Richard

[Q] Is the Galaxy Gear 1 (VM700) compatible with S5?

Hi guys,
I apologise in advance if this is a dappy question but I have been googling etc and cant find a definitive answer. Basically I have an S5. Im looking to buy a Galaxy Gear 1 (VM700) which I may upgrade at a later date but I feeel the original will be a good starter for me. My question is; is the watch compatible with the S5. Does anyone have 1 and can they confirm everything works. Even Samsung doesn't state if its possible.
I may pop down town later to get it but would rather have an answer to save me a wasted trip if possible.
Thanks in advance for any help, Much Appreciated
Ben
S5? Yes the at&t for example s5 is fully supported by the gear 1 watch. I use it every day myself for the past year.
I'm guessing the S6 *should* work - will post back an update if I find out.
Yes. I have this.
Yes, I have one and fully support Note 3 and S5.
Yes. S5 works with the Galaxy Gear 1 (tried myself).

Gear VR with Huawei P9?

Hi all,
I bought my Dad a Samsung Gear VR for Christmas, as I was told by the seller it worked with all android phones.
However, I've been looking into it since and it would appear this isn't the case. He's really excited by it, and I don't want it to have been a waste of money and for him to have been disappointed.
I've ordered a USB C to Micro USB adaptor so he can connect his phone to it, but I'm concerned it won't enable him to use it properly still.
I was wondering if there was any way to make sure he still gets some actual use out of this, instead of having to sell it and buy him something else!
Thanks!

Hi,
The Gear VR that is available now is only available for some Samsung devices like the S6, S7, Note 7 and I think Note 4/5

Damn, so there's no way to make it work in any way with a different phone?
If you are able to fit the phone there, you'll be able to use the Gear VR like if it was a Google Cardboard.
But obviously you won't be able to access the Oculus store and such.
Any recommendations for huwaei p9's ?
