[SHARE](Android 12 )Working MYUI Android 12 GSI Rom for Moto Edge XT2063-3 - Motorola Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Motorola MYUI GSI ROM
Aight i will go straight to the point <3
As some of us i am very bored with Motorola Android 11 Rom cause the customization is completely null imo
So after doing some research i finally got a Working GSI (Generic System Image) based on MYUI (Chinese Moto Firmware) as it is a GSI bugs are expected and i will list them below
-Brightness is kinda buggy, If the slider is set to 0% the display will get like 30% or 35% (Personally that doesnt bother me lol )
-Some customization options are broken ( Perzonalize app> display size FC the app etc
-Fingerprint setup wont work
-Bluetooth will work sometimes so lets say its unstable
-Only chinesse and english languages
And some more i can´t list em all as i´ve only been testing about 2-3 days
Whats Working
-Youtube app will work just need to settle down the google services updates
-Call and data seems to work
-Pretty much everything seems to work
-No need to flash gapps just need to activate via settings app
Again this is a GSI so bugs ARE expected
Allright with that being said lets begin
First step: Obviously unlock bootloader but if u are here by now u know about that so lets skip it
Second step: Download this adb and fastboot package (others wont work with me idk if it is my laptop o something but i recommend using them)
ADB and Fastboot Latest install it and u will have something like this in ur PC Drive
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Third Step: For this step i had to download the whole firmware of the moto edge and it was a pain in the a** so i will save ur time by uploading the vbmeta.img this file is going to be in the same folder of the adb and fastboot that u previously located and opened this is very important hence if the vbmeta is not located there the fastboot cmd won´t be able to locate it and flash to the device
Fourth Step: Now we need to download the GSI of MYUI, we need to go to sourceforge of Nippon GSi MYUI GSI (BTW all credits goes to Nippon GSI Updates
once the file has been downloaded we have to do the same as the vbmeta file (Extract it to desktop and move it to adb and fastboot folder)
Fifth Step: Download this img it is neccesary to flash the gsi product_gsi.img and the same, put it inside the adb and fastboot folder
Seventh step : We are almost there open the Open CMD bat inside the adb and fastboot folder, once the cmd is open we need to put our device in fastboot mode, U know press the Volume - while plugging the usb to the device and the PC/Laptop u are using then use this command
fastboot reboot fastboot
Eight Step: Once in fastboot mode we will have to put thes commands in the cmd prompt
fastboot set_active a
fastboot flash product product_gsi.img
fastboot flash system MyUI-4.0-AB-12-20220928-NipponGSI.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot --disable-verity flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase metadata
fastboot reboot
Phone will restart, fitst boot can take up to 1-5 minutes. mine took less than 2 min so be patient it is worhty lol
Now the phone has booted up. an android error will pop up but just tap on ok. now we need to put the phone in english so we tap on the settings app
And thats it
Again
This is a GSI so bugs are expected, any fix is not likely to happen hence this is gsi and doesn´t has a maintainer
But i think this is a Good Lookin UI and works quiet well imo
Sorry for the post format im literally new to posting threads here
if someone has trouble installing this i will try to help asap

Yeah i know camera app is missing lol
Here it is a working Gcam with a XML config
-Gcam Moto Edge
-Moto Edge Gcam XML
That is all good flashing and enjoy this gsi

Aight i found another GSI that got more langs and overall more stable than the first one YAY
Link: GSI MYUI

Tried both roms can't get any to boot. I've follow all the steps but the phone stays stuck at the motorola boot logo, the one with the dark background not the blue one, and stays there forever until I force reboot.

OK, so the fix its simple yet so tedious bc u need to donwload the whole firmware to get a simple img file wich is going to be the boot.img
if u have the stock rom downloaded just flash it but dont lock the bootloader, flash stock rom, then download the magisk app from github, and go to install magisk, select the boot.img file and wait till the magisk app patches the thing
then redo all the flashing process but this time before the fastboot reboot command add this one
fastboot flash boot ´´yourpatchedmagiskboot.img´´ (this will have to be inside the folder where the gsi is
and voila all done it should boot shortly
if u have any more trouble feel free to ask me and i will help

Awesome i'm glad it booted 4 u
IMO the second GSI is more stable and with more languajes with no need to enable GMS
I no longer have the moto edge but I will help as long as I can

Hello and good morning, @DissapointedMotoEdgeUser
Thanks very much for your swift feedback that I really appreciate. I just wanted to assure that I did correctly read your OP.
As this isn't your own development, I've moved the thread from the development section to the "GN&D" sub-forum as it doesn't qualify for the first one. password should be the same that you use to unlock the phone when it's up and running. for me it's a pin. at least this is how it worked on my nexus 5x
Great. Now I am stuck in download mode. Does not boot into system anymore.

After rebooting when I didn't have magisk installed after installing PixelExperience img, I am now also stuck in download mode whenever I try to reboot.
EDIT: After switching which partition to boot from a couple of times in reboot menu, I finally got back into a rom. I would suggest that "Whoknowshimself" try to do similar.
Sorry guys you all stuck on Download mode because of the command was written wrong
It was falsh but it's should be flash now all is okay
In case you got download mode loop try to active slot a for june release
Slot b for July
Fastboot --set_active=a
Fastboot --set_active=b
if i'm not mistaken, android version doesn't matter, does it? can i use this on P DP4?
I flashed everything correctly and was able to get into several ROM setups; PixelExperience, RR.
On every ROM though, SIM cards do not work in any slot.
I am in the process of getting back to stock and then I will make a rooted backup of the system with no user setup yet and I will upload the backup somewhere so that others can benefit from my experiments today.
EDIT: It will take me a while to get the backup uploaded etc... so don't hold your breath anybody
EDIT 2: It will be quicker and easier for people to just do the backup themselves before messing around flashing stuff. I can still upload it at some point if someone is in need, but just MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A BACKUP BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE.
Too late for me. I tried switching the active slot but to no avail. I had a backup but it is corrupted
I cannot even flash the ROM through OST. It says ROM does not match.

The way I fixed mine was to flash the patched July boot.img from the root your a/b partitions to both boot a and boot b.
I then downloaded all the zips to downgrade to Oreo from the official firmware and ota thread.
I used the latest rollback from that thread and then the 3 ota patches.
I side-loaded each one and booted the phone between each zip flash.
I am now at stock 8.1 fully rooted with magisk 16.7 with safety net passing completely.

fastboot flash product product.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
4. Wipe userdata.

Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash product product.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img

I always use the recovery program and go all the way back to stock before installing a ROM. It takes more time and is more complicated that way but if I encounter a problem, I know it's the new ROM and not carryover garbage from the old one.
So far, everything is working. VoLTE, GPS, QS Tiles, etc. Battery life seems good. Performance is good. No crashes or reboots.
Seems to be solid.
Thank you. Your work and efforts are appreciated.
I'm gonna dirty flash on top of the dpcioc build from the previous thread. I had to wipe data to get that one to boot coming from the asineth build. I'll let you know what happens.
EDIT: Doesn't work. lol
Hi I'm new to custom roms. What is the difference between the first zip file with images and the 2nd zip file on this post? Thanks!
Never mind. I posted my question before the files downloaded and clearly see the differences afterwards.
Update: Great success!!! Had 0 issues installing this. Thank you for the code as well!
I finally tried to install. Dirty flash over asineth's LOS 17.1.
Sideload did not worked phone rebooted and entered into TWRP. So I tried flashing from fastboot and that worked. I lost apps, but it remebered my PIN.
I have only one issue - hotspot works, but when I turn it off, phone reboots.

I never use hotspot so I hadn't checked it out. I tried it and my phone reacts the same way as yours does.
SO as I understand there is no need a computer for this
SO this my very first time doing this and just wanted to be clear do I or do I not need a computer

Doesn't work, after reboot the command line says "waiting for any devices". Can't continue.
Every year I try some Android device and venture to XDA to try some custom ROMs. It never works.

This is a very stable and well presented ROM. It is also very easy to install.
I'm not trying to be a ****, but with all the questions you have, you obviously have no idea what you are doing! If other people are successfully installing and using a ROM and you can't, the problem is not the ROM.
For starters, is your bootloader unlocked? If not, you need to do that before trying anything. If you don't know how, use search.
Most of your answers are here
"Moto G Power Guides, News, & Discussion"Do your homework first and read everything you can.
So after a few days everything still seems really good. One flaw I've just realized is that screen recorder doesn't work and forces the phone to restart after launching.
Not really a deal breaker for me since I very rarely use the app and its not really necessary for my purposes. Just thought I'd test it out, since I think I remember seeing in another thread here how this was happening with another custom rom for this device

This is true. The ones from the play store will work.

OK, thanks for information. I can verify that the bug is there, it restarted.
I merged github repos with some more updated (Odin1101) and it's compiling.

Don't know what that means.
Don't know what `fastbootd` mode is.
Doesn't work, after reboot the command line says "waiting for any devices". Can't continue.
Every year I try some Android device and venture to XDA to try some custom ROMs. It never works.

Agh, plain AOSP. I miss Havoc already.
Testing it out and everything thing seems smooth. I did find one minor issue for the people that like their temperatures in imperial units. You can change the lockscreen temp to imperial and it displays an F for farenheit but the temperature value is still Cecius.
Flashed twrp using minimal adb to recovery and recovery_b. Flashed arrow after formatting. Now I have no mobile data connection. Also getting: access point name settings are not available for this user, under apn. Tried fastboot erase modemst2, resetting, installing other roms doesn't work either. I'm on XT2041DL. Thoughts?

Closest thing to havoc is crDroid ATM mate, it's on the forums here
This ROM is marked as only being compatible with sofiar, but I can confirm that everything seems to work on my sofia device.
Also, I had a problem when installing and I thought I should warn others. When I tried to install with TWRP, it failed and always booted back to TWRP when I tried to boot to system. When I tried the fastbootd method, it also failed because fastbootd is not available when TWRP is installed. Instead, I did this:
1. Skip the step of installing TWRP. It messes things up. You may be able to install it later, but I don't want to take my chances.
2. For the "format data" part in TWRP, run
Code:
fastboot -w
instead.
3. Instead of rebooting to fastboot from TWRP, run
Code:
fastboot reboot fastboot
.
4. Continue with the steps of installing boot, vbmeta, product, and system with fastboot.
Edit: It turns out I was using the wrong build of TWRP. Use the one linked in the original post, not the one elsewhere on the forums.

I just noticed that. I was using the TWRP build from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/sofia-p-r-recovery-wip-twrp-3-4-0-0.4128353/ because I assumed that was what the link was for. Thank you.
Apps aren't able to see registered fingerprints. Fingerprint auth is grayed out and the apps complain "register fingerprints on the device settings".
I have tried:
Deleting and redoing fingerprints (just one and multiple) with and without rebooting.
Confirmed the fingerprints work for screen unlock and gestures.
Re-installed 08-04-21 Vanilla build with full format, issue persists.
Anything I missed to check? I do not have my phone rooted, so cannot see system logs using the logging app.
Using sofiar (moto g8 power). Tested the apps themselves on my second phone klte (Samsung S5 Lineageos 16) and fingerprints work just fine there.
Ok so I am so frustrated with this Moto G power , If anyone can please tell me what I am doing wrong...I have rooted and ran mutliple custome roms since back in the Jelly bean days but I have always been able to do all the fundamentals of owning root and making the most of my phone.. You guys have always been helpful . SO when i attempt flash a custom rom through adb folder ( because I think you cannot flash custom roms with twrp at all) attemtp to follow your instructions to the T
but every time after install of custom , and thats any custom rom i try to boot it up for first time , prior to re-twrping, adding gapps, or magisk rooting and it literally just stays on the new rom animation for hours until i give up and I have to rescue it with lenovo'S rescue tool . Any help would be awesome ?

You need to install the official android 10 rom to your phone using the moto flash tool linked in the first post. After that you can install custom roms from fastbootd with the first page instructions.
Android 11 official rom has some changed encryption stuff which I think is responsible for the infinite boot on custom roms when flashed over it. That's why you need to downgrade to android 10 first.
ok because I am on android 11 when it is back to stock flashed. I am using the lenovo tool and it is installing rpms31.q1.54-13-2_subsidy . So to clarify I need to roll back to android 10 to be able to flash any custom roms ? Or is there 11s that will work with a different method to flash them?

I believe you have to roll back to Android 10. Custom Android 11 ROMs may work, but you can't install custom ROMs so that doesn't help.

STEP #2 - EXTRACTING BOOT.IMG
10. I have written the steps to extract the boot.img in the below xda thread. Its always recommended to extract boot.img yourself.
[10R Only] Find already extracted boot.img here:

STEP #3 - PATCHING THE BOOT.IMG
11. Install lastest Magisk manage apk(V24 or above) and transfer the extracted boot.img into your device's internal storage.
12. Launch the Magisk Manager app and tap on the Install button next to the “Magisk is not installed” message.
13. In the next popup that appears, tap on Install followed by Select and Patch a File.

14. Now browse to the stock boot.img file and select it.
15. Magisk will now begin patching the file, which should take a few seconds only. Once that is done, you should get an “All Done” message.
16. Once that is done, head over to the Downloads folder and you should see the magisk_patched.img file.
STEP #4 - FLASHING PATCHED BOOT.IMG
17. Transfer the magisk_patched.img to the platform-tools folder on your PC.
18. Again, reboot the phone to fastboot mode and run the following command to flash the patched boot img -
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img

If the above command is not working, execute following commands:
fastboot flash boot_a magisk_patched.img
Click to collapse
fastboot flash boot_b magisk_patched.img

Click to collapse
19. Reboot the device and check the status on the Magisk manager app.
20. Done. Cheers!!!
Hi, I've replied to you in a thread and found out that my phone is an OnePlus Ace with OnePlus 10R rom. I have no problems with it except for Netflix not having widevine L1. My idea is rooting the phone with Magisk and using the safetynet module to hide it from Netflix, which I don't know if it'll work or not. But since my phone is Ace with 10R rom, I presume the bootloader is already unlocked. I've looked through the OnePlus OS Update telegram channel you provided but there's no rom for my model - CPH2411

If in future you want to unroot & lock the bootloader then you can try this command. Note this will wipe all your data -

Okay, just rooted the phone, the root works. But not for my purpose of having Widevine L1 on Netflix. Actually Netflix isn't showing on Play Store anymore, even with safetynet fix. I'm gonna unroot and lock bootloader again. Thanks for the help!

Thank you very much, that could actually be the problem indeed.
The phone updated to the last ColorOS firmware and I wasn't able to retrieve the repository of the OS versions. So I downloaded the only one I could find, from the Telegram OnePlus ace group. It could be a slightly older version.
It's annoying that I cannot find the repository of all the versions.
The Chinese H2OS web site was nice. I couldn't find the equivalent one for ColorOS...
I keep on not being able to find the link where to download the latest ROM.

Also, should I download VNDK Lite version? Would there be anything bad if I didn't use VNDK Lite GSIs?
Last thing, so Android 13 GSI works but has camera issues?

I cannot get fastboot to detect the device. I tried the drivers you provided and followed the video and yet it still doesn't show up...
Also tried different drivers but still nope.
Tried different computers and still not detecting fastboot.
Edit: Phone gets detected when put in bootloader so I'm sure it's not a driver issue. Only when it's in fastbootd it won't get detected.
Nevermind as I got it to finally work.
Installed Lineage OS 19.1 Android 12, everything is smooth. Although does not pass SafetyNet. Headphones also are not working for me. Gonna see if there are other bugs and will try other GSIs such as crDroid to check which one is suitable for daily driving.
I won't be testing GSIs with no Gapps.
