Question One UI update on M32 5g causes a pink tint over the screen - Samsung Galaxy M32

After updating the M32 5G arises a pink tint over the display and on visiting the service center they put in a quote of 8000 rupees for replacing the screen. As it does show any scratch or dent they are claiming that it is due to the impact of the phone being put in the pocket, the other argument is that it is 1 year 1-month-old phone which does not come under warranty period and issue such that should be taken care by customers. Is there a software update that does kill the hardware

Always use a good case. Firmware upgrades/updates can and do break devices but not the hardware but rather the functionality and usability. A firmware update has the potential to damage hardware though but it's very unlikely to happen on a stock rom.
During a production run if there are smaller chipset or component shortages Samsung will substitute them. If the new firmware instruction set for those different chipsets isn't correct all kinds of mayhem can occur. Again usually not actual damage but the phone won't function correctly.
Until some the effected phones with that update are physically examined by Samsung, Samsung is unaware of the bad code for those chipsets. Once Samsung engineers are aware of the issue they can release a patch for the firmware with the proper instruction set. The standard chipsets are unaffected and that's what the firmware was tested on. The substitute chipsets may only comprise a small percentage of the total produced. So the error takes time to be found and corrected. Of course replacing the effected component with one that has standard chipsets/components would fix it too. Not good for the owner though if it's out of warranty.
I would lean on Samsung if the problem started immediately after the update.
It's also possible that the new firmware uses a different pathway(s) through some of the millions of transistors. The new instruction set may have highlighted damage that was there when assembly or happened due to damage. Ever wonder what happens when one or two transistor junctions fail in a smartphone?

TYTN II/Kaiser/Tilt Video fix

Quite a few threads now on the aforementioned topic
1) The one regarding the online petition
So, there are some 13000 signatures. So what? What is going to be done with them?
2) The one regarding proper video drivers
HTC announced in February that a fix was forthcoming at the end of March. Where is it?
3) The one regarding the video driver bounty.
Supposedly some $7000 has been raised. I doubt this. What people pledge and what gets sent are two completely different things. Sorry to be a cynic.
Having had my TYTN II for 3 months, I have monitored this site with interest for any developments. Sadly, if a fix does not transpire soon, then it becomes a wasted cause as the phone will be obsolete very soon...
Time now for action?
I don't think it is going to happen unless HTC decides to do it. Who knows, they could put out a fix today.
Why would you make this thread when there are all the other threads to post in? You haven't stated anything new. Useless thread.

There has been nothing new in any of the other threads for some time. That is my point, what is yours?
And, apologies, didn't realise that there were only a finite number of threads available...
My point is that you should take your questions to those topics so that they answers can be followed. Those threads are their for a reason and that reason is to maintain all the information in one labeled location.
It had nothing to do with a limit on threads, or finite as your referred, it just clutters up the main page with duplicate topic that has a sticky.
I could care less either way, I feel like this post and the sticky haven't done anything toward getting the drivers fixed because HTC said they are going to put our new driver sometime in the future.
To me the both should be deleted.

You're not a librarian, are you?
My question relates to 3 different threads. All of which (in my humble opinion) havn't actually achieved very much as of yet other than some moaning and some empty promises. To reiterate... With all of these signatures and all of this promised? cash, who decides when to actually do something and what will that be?
Seems to me that if nothing is going to be done then they might as well lock all of the other threads and this one and we'll look forward to the next great piece of technology (hopefully it'll come with all the extras!)
Well said my friend. I think I will put that in my sig.
yes me am librarian. Want a book?
if their are 3 worthless threads already in your opinion, why add a 4th?
Sad isn't it? That several people can write plenty on the issue of a waste of time thread? Yet no-one can be bothered to comment constructively on the original point I raised: If anything is going to be done...then what? and if not why not close down all of these threads?
Enough on the "why a new thread" theme. Point taken! Now, how about an answer...?

1. They have been shown to the CEO of HTC. what else do you do with a petition?
2. Ask HTC, if we knew the answer to this then there would be a thread.
3. I'm glad you feel that way.. BUT
People are trying to do what they can to make it happen. Look at other threads like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381254 where they are trying to extract a driver from another phone.
Maybe you have read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355345 where someone has donated a phone to someone to help the cause.
Is that enough action for you?
Regardless of wether or not the phone will be the latest and greatest when the fix does or doesn't happen, there are still people interested in it happening. Not everyone can by every great phone.

Your answer is there is no answer. No one knows thats why the other posts don't have any information. Asking the same question multiple times doesn't force an answer. I would know, I have already tried that method.

Sending Video

Hello everyone! I've searched but can't find a solution to this:
I am on the AT&T Network along with most of my friends. Today, I tried to send a VIDEO to a friend with a Treo 650. He only received a black screen. Is this a problem with my device or his? He's got the stock Treo 650. I thought that it may have been a file type that he can't get.
Any help?

As I pondered whether or not to grant visibility to this statement, I've concluded that I should provide a teaching moment.
1. Being dishonest is one thing that really displays true character. Hence, if saying something is something you HATE and is boring; then WHY say it? It is not neccessary.
2. To seemingly apologize for obviously intending to be short and brash, is less than necessary, especially when there's a realization of your being short and brash BEFORE you type the message. There was no afterthough following sending the message, and following up with an apology. You had an opportunity to NOT be short OR brash.
3. My senior membership must be predicated on membership longevity or something similar thereof, for it is definitely not indicative of any extensive knowledge of posting in very many forums, and automatic knowledge of where each any every post content belongs. In any of my postings, I have NEVER had a post moved. So, apparently I'm not as inept as you may feel. My thought was, that my current situation was maybe ROM related since this is a cooked ROM. THAT'S why I posted here. TO GAIN DIRECTION.
You have provided comments, but no direction. Therefore you've added NO value AT ALL. So your post is merely to satisfy some personal accomplishment, or to create some activity with a window of time you know not what to do with.
My apologies to any MODS for accidentally looking for help in the wrong forum. At least I hoped to be directed to the appropriate destination to either POST, RECEIVE HELP, or BOTH.

i don't ponder i reckon!!! lol, and i reckon i didn't know treo 650's were still around, that was my first touch screen phone, and it had ALOT of video playback problems, so it very well could be, may also be a loss in data during the sending over the network. i reckon you should try to bt your vid to your friend and see if that works.

LOL!!! And it was my first touch-screen device as well! But my friend just LOVES that device! I can't get'em to part with it. But THANK YOU for the bluetooth idea. I'll be sure to try that if we're ever in the same area. I'm in Indiana, and he's in Virginia. So BT isn't an option. But I'm hoping to get some ideas here.
Thanks again for positive feedback.

This post didn't add much value either .. the pot calling the kettle black? hmm?
How about you send something from that 650 to another phone and see what happens.
Is it even on the same network as you are?

And we've just added your post to that statement. Already tried that. Works fine in that direction. Just NOT from the Tilt to the Treo.
How about to another treo 650 or any of the other palm OS ones?
Is it still playable as in does the video move yet it is black? If so then it's lack of codec support.....
Even if it doesn't move i'd still edge my bets on "old" technology with a newer video format "codec" being the issue.

Yes, black picture with 3 other Treos. I posted in the Phoenix private beta thread and didn't get a response.
So, I guess I'll follow up with my partners and ask if they can update their codecs. I was hoping that I could send in a different format that they can view.

If they install a Video player like TCPMP the they should be fine.
Another way would be for you to convert the video on computer to another format, ask what format video's they can play SUPER ©

this has been discussed before. Not many thought it was a good idea since there are some differences between the galaxy S phones depending on your carrier. I for one don't want to waste my time reading through topics that don't pertain to the Captivate. Nor do i want to keep searching for a subforum when this is already in place and easily found. Again, not many people will know to look for Galaxy S instead of Captivate or Vibrant.

Agreed. If the SGS really was the same phone across all carriers it would make sense to merge all the sub-forums but seeing as how there is separate development going on for the Captivate vs. Vibrant (and soon the Epic as I'm sure things will work different with the hardware keyboard being the biggest difference)...
I would propose a shared general and themes & apps forum for all SGS users, because the hardware is similar enough that regular software is cross compatible. The development forums should be separate though, because each developing environment is different enough to have different fixes.

Agreed.
And actually when this was discussed before the majority of people thought the forums should stay combined. It was even put to an official vote (the consolidation option won) that was then ignored before the forums were split.

# shakes head in confusion
Sent from my captivate
^bump^
as i don't have any Mod power to make it a sticky, much less make the original topic cross posted across the 5 SGS forums
i think this is a great idea......if you click the link, they already have each of the development sections separated by each model, but the general, accessories, and themes sections are all put together as a "galaxy s" section. The accessories may not work so well since many of the cases and such will be different, but for the Themes section it will be great. It will allow things such as all the Vibrant fonts, swype themes, etc to be easily used on the captivate (for newbs like me that don't want to browse all the forums and test things that may work).

Actually the accessories look the same...I think even for the Epic the dock for example is the same..the only thing that will vary is pouches and cases...but thats pretty minor...and I doubt anyone will confuse it...

The case design for the Captivate is different from the Vibrant. I tried a body glove for the Vibrant and it was way to tight.
sorry about the cross forum posting guys, but until we get this other issue solved
Proposal to merge all Galaxy S family into 1 neat and big sub forum
this is the only way to keep in touch across the separate forums
I voted for it in the other thread and I still support it now. The split is hurting development, and joining them will create a much better community environment, I think. There will be some confusion yes, but there already is now. And there will be regardless. (Especially given joys like the T-Mobile Vibrant / Bell Vibrant naming wonder.)
Suggestion: if forums can be crosslinked, keep the current hierarchy more or less intact, but merge the "Apps" boards for the Galaxy phones into one (possibly with child subforums for apps that are literally specific to a carrier/model) that still appears in the list where the current model-specific app board appears (ie, it would appear as "Galaxy S Applications" under the captivate, vibrant, epic4g, international model, etc hierarches, but would all point to the same board.
Then, create another board for galaxy s development issues that are really common to two or more models -- kernel modules for sensors shared by multiple models, gps issues affecting the vibrant & captivate (& international model?), etc. Emphasize that THIS board is NOT for discussion of building new ROMs or Android Distros, but rather is more for AOSP-oriented developers getting deeper into reducing the platform's dependence on Samsung for support and drivers, and recognizing that things like the video chip and gps pretty much look the same across all of the Galaxy models from the kernel level. Once again, this would be listed in each of the model-specific hierarches, but they'd all point to the same physical board.
This addresses the bulk of real-world problems: accessories are device-specific; ROMs (I personally prefer "Android Distro", because it recognizes that they're more of a starting point zero-day configuration than a literal carved-in-stone "ROM") are device-specific. Development has some parts that are device-specific, and a big part that's family-specific. Not every Galaxy S might have all the hardware that an epic4g has, but AFAIK the subset each other model has is still wired up internally the same way, to the same i/o ports and using the same sensor chips.
If anything, there should also be forums to discuss lower-level development issues specific to a single carrier (Sprint and Verizon being two of the most obvious, since their back-end protocols for voicemail, text messaging, and other services aren't governed by a common standard the way GSM is, and DO in fact differ in some pretty arbitrary ways from each other).

To be rooted or not to be? [A Fundamental Question]

To be rooted or not to be? [A Fundamental Question]
I guess you already read the news at CyanogenMOD about there thoughts regarding not enabling root access by default but rather give the user the option to be aware of the risk, if he is gonna enabling it by his own decision?
As a user you also should take some minutes and rethink about data security measurements on your device. If you're only using the phone with a prepaid mobile card and don't store confidential data like passwords or credit cards numbers or even do online payments with it, then you don't have to bother with security at all. Just enjoy your phone with the newest and fanciest ROM you would like to.
But in case you're intending to use its full potential, then below is my take on this subject. Read on, if and only if you really want to know about my personnel preferences on this topic. If my post hurts your eyes, ears or mouth in anyway, then please keep them all closed and move on. I'm very sorry, if I've stolen your precious time up to this point. ... ^^
<point-of-no-return>
Stock or Custom? Stay with unmodded stock rom, if you don't need the features the cooked roms is offering you. If something goes wrong (dialer, keylogger, trojan, ...), then Samsung have to take all the blame and financial loss for you. But only, if you're really carefull yourself about third party Apps. Install only from trustworthy sources and ask yourself, if the App should really get all the permissions it is asking for. Maybe an alternative App will do the same work but beeing less demanding?
Root What? If you don't understand the consequences of root permissions, then it probably is not what you should looking for.
Opensource or Closed? Only entrust third party ROMs with opensource code. You might never take a look at it, but there are other tech savvy users/developers, who will raise the issues publicly, if there happens to be any, because they can read the source and point out the security holes and eventually fix them quickly too. Since I'm reading many questions about the PROS or CONS of unofficial and official CyanogenMODs: You should by now be able to answer this question yourself, if you're a security and privacy loving individual.
Themes or Hacks? If you're missing some features on your current phone, then reconsider to get your hands dirty and do the needed changes yourself. Or at least know howto take the supplied MODs apart and thoroughly compare the modified files with your current installed ones. There is a reason why big companies distributing files with at least a MD5 or SHA1 checksum, you know? But since ACE, GIO and the MINI (->galaxyics) are midrange devices targeting teens as consumers, security or privacy is something most of this users don't want/have to worry about. Anyway, if the changes are not applied to the executable codes (dex files) but rather considered as widely known as theming (change layout, PNGs, color or text codes), then you should be on the riskfree side to apply them without further notice. ...
Hope I could give the more concerned users some points to think about towards ROMs and MODs in general.

S10/S10+ forums

I just noticed that there are now a different forum for the S10 plus,
While I don't think that segregating S10+ from the S10/S10E is a good idea, i don't understand why there isn't a S10E forum also then ?
are the S10 plus kind of "premium" phone which deserve a place to its own, and the S10/E considered as pleb phone
Just curious what is the reason behind the segregation.

I agree, as basically the 10 and plus are the same phones except for the camera and size. I would think that a majority of posts could crossover. The "e" having its own forum makes more sense.
If I may suggest something to the moderators, it would be to consider separating exynos and snapdragon forums. They don't have same hardware, roms, modems, vendors, problems, issues, mods, fixes, root, statistics, SOT...etc. Even location of commercialization is different ! Why then have them in the same forum just because they have the same commercial name ?
It's severely disturbing to follow feedbacks and announcements.
Simple example is the screen on time thread in which you can find users arguing about battery life and only after some time discover they are not comparing the same device !!!
