Question Is the x90 pro+ unlock realistically difficult? - Vivo X90 Pro Plus

I'm considering purchasing this, but Im worried about vivo policy of not supporting unlock because it requires root. so think unlocking is realistically difficult?

I don't know much about x90+ but considering that unlock was only possible on X80 pro on the 1st version of W10 models (12.0.10.5) using modified software and requiring some kind of 'hack' (sending 2 files at the same time from 2 terminals) and that this exploit was fixes basically for every single release after, I'd say that root isn't going to happen on x90 (at least not using the same method)

yes. I hope that vivo will officially support unlock like oppo.

I am considering purchasing x90 pro+ and the Xiaomi 13 Pro. However, I think I will have to purchase it with Xiaomi 13 Pro because of the unlock.

Root seems to be possible on vivo x90 pro+ :

Be careful with frequencies and bands. Not all are supported by Xiaomi in China. Vivo does.

If you are european, careful. Check you carrier bands as Xiaomi tends to miss at least one major 4G band lately.

Would it be possible to flash gapps without unlock?
I am really thinking about buying the Chinese version. I will keep the original os (no root) but I would need at least to install gapps. Possible?

I doubt it. OEM Unlock option is indeed there, however the actual commands in fastboot to unlock the bootloader do NOT work.

Unless Pervokur pulls another one of his magic tricks bootloader unlock will NOT be possible.
Besides that, converting your device from OriginOS to Funtouch bares a huge brick risk and certain things are not working on the x70 pro+.

I'm confident one of the developers here will create a rooting solution soon, if they haven't already, especially when from all the reviews I've seen so far about the X90 Pro+ IMHO it's going to be one of the top five selling smartphones this year.

would you recommend to buy Chinese K20 pro ?

Is it worth buying the K20 Pro?
I'm comfortable with custom ROM flashing procedures.
Or is it better to pay for. MI 9T Pro?
I hear, even the global versions are not easier to unlock and update with custom versions, so it might not worth the trouble of getting this one, and go for a Chinese K20 Pro.
Anyone can comment on some quality differences?
Anyone in Europe feels a lack of coverage due to the missing B20 LTE band?
Is this still a good budget decision or better wait and invest in a more mainstream device?
Would always recommend the 9T Pro officially from the EU.
It comes with everything working correct (NFC, band 20, WidevineL1), switching ad's off means really off and Global EU Rom is that good that no other Rom is required so you can leave it locked.
And warranty is under EU law!!
For a similar price you'd be best off getting the Mi 9T Pro, but if you wish to save some money you can make the K20 Pro almost identical asides from Band 20 support.
I personally have the 8GB/256GB K20 Pro running:
TWRP from mauronofrio
Xiaomu.eu firmware (last MIUI 10 with Android 10)
Magisk 19.3 (Magisk Hide on Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, Google Pay & my banking apps)
The Google Pay fix
that's your choice, i use to say that: everything comes with a cost and a price. I believe the money you save for getting k20 pro is paid for acquiring knowledge and working to make everything runs just fine... (I personally like this kind of stuff, like most of one here, but some people do not)...

OnePlus 7T pro 5G coming to TMobile

https://www.t-mobile.com/devices/5g-phones?icid=WMM_TMNG_C_19NETWRK5G_JXY3B6IVGF90PZUQV18612_HP
Yea i think im going to upgrade, i love the color accents , and itll be a lil bit of an upgrade from my OP7PRO
Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
Depending on the price, I may be all over this. I would be upgrading from a 6t
Only difference from 7Pro is a little better CPU . The storage is down to 128gb instead of the 256gb I have. Is the Snapdragon 855+ worth it to upgrade ?

Also only the 7T is coming to TMobile right now. There is no 7T Pro till later this year and that is going to be the 7T Pro Mclaren . No release date for the McLaren yet .

Correct. The T-Mobile 7t Pro McLaren went up for "pre register" today. They no longer have the 7 Pro available. So yes, 12gb ram, quad hd screen, and 256gb storage is an upgrade over the 7t, which is the only other OnePlus device currently available on T-Mobile
I've already pre-registered as well. Was about to pull the trigger on the 7 Pro since I was so disappointed in the Pixel 4. Glad I waited.
QUICK QUESTION:
Going back to the Nexus 5 days, I've always bought my Nexus/Pixel phones outright directly from Google. This will be my first phone that isn't a Nexus/Pixel. I'm assuming this will only be available through the T-Mobile store, and not directly through OnePlus. If so, is there any benefits if I pay for the phone all upfront with T-Mobile. I'm assuming that gets rid of the SIM lock, but what about updates and everything. Does that automatically switch the software from the locked down T-Mo one to the OnePlus update track? Or would I have to unlock the bootloader and switch to the international version software to get updates directly from OnePlus? Thanks in advance!

Paying it off will NOT switch it to international software. I believe Your updates will still come from T-Mobile unless you go through the unlock process with both TMobile and OnePlus.Keep in mind, since there is technically no international version of the 7t Pro 5G McLaren because it is currently going to be a T-Mobile exclusive, I don't know how that will work as far as "converting" it to international software goes. Hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong

Dang! I completely overlooked that aspect of it. You're right, as there probably won't be an unlocked version of the ROM to switch to in the US. So I'd be completely at the mercy of T-Mo when it comes to updates and bloatware EVEN AFTER PAYING IT ALL OFF UPFRONT!!! That sucks... I'm used to getting updates straight from the source with Google phones, and absolutely hate the additional "features" carriers put on their version of the phones.. That's the reason I buy my phones outright upfront. But more importantly, I like having the factory image in case something goes awry. Especially since I want to unlock and root using Magisk. I'm assuming the factory image wouldn't be available through T-Mobile either... Now I'm contemplating if I should just get the 7 Pro straight from OnePlus just for the added peace of mind. Hmm...

It's possible that the OnePlus 7t Pro rom could work, I just don't know if the 5g modem would make it incompatible or not

Hmm... Maybe. I'll probably wait then to see if there is a solution to switch it to the international version. I wouldn't even care about losing 5G connectivity if everything else worked and I could get updates straight from OnePlus. 4G is perfectly fine with me for now. At least until 5G matures. I've been reading so many negatives about T-Mobile's lag in updates vs the unlocked models.
Careful with OnePlus and 5G - they are not reliable.
The 7 Pro 5G hasn't been getting support, we have no open betas and threads get closed/ignored on their forums.
Sources don't get updated so there is no custom ROMs or Kernels that work on this device.
6/6T got Android 10 before we even have a promise of it.

Yeah, if they're banking on the 5G connectivity as an incentive, they're sadly mistaken. Especially considering they only have it in like 6 cities throughout the US right now.

Yea I could care less about 5g. Home and work I get over 100mbps with 4g. I just want that McLaren phone. The trade in on OnePlus 6t last year was incentive enuff and I got it. The 7t, 0 incentive so it's still sitting on TMobile shelf. If McLaren has no incentive I'll order stick with my 7 pro.
https://www.theverge.com/2019/7/1/19102891/tmobile-5g-network-launch-test-speeds-impressions-samsung
I can't see why anyone would pay the premium for 5G at this point. As stated, the connectivity is just not there. This article is 4 months old but the challenges are not SW or even device related, they are infrastructure. By the time any carrier has a 5G offering that is widely available, the current generation of devices will be obsolete.

Question Xiaomi Devices stopped working in Syria

Greetings everyone ,
So apparently from the title Xiaomi Devices has stopped working in Syria starting this week ,
the devices suddenly got "locked" with a message declaring "this device is locked , Xiaomi policy doesn't allow this product in your country"
with only an option to connect to Wi-fi network ,
the devices that were reported were both India and International versions
any official announcement from Xiaomi regarding their new policy ?
also any chance to make these devices work again ? this issue will affect hundred thousands of people I will appreciate if someone can provide a solution
Thanks !
Xiaomi themselves haven't mentioned anything regarding this, but quoting an official retailer:
Xiaomi's new policy protects its products, as every product must be activated in the country it was intended to be sold in.
The solution, according to them, is return the phone to the retailer you bought it from, which they will reset, and then you need to use the phone with a SIM from that same country for at least 3 weeks
Given that I'm from Syria and considering the phone situation there, if you're importing a xiaomi phone, unlock the bootloader as soon as possible, preferably while in the country you bought it from, then solving this would be much easier.

Hi! Any chance you can share the link where you quoted that response from that official retailer? I am from Cuba, where Ximi phones already stopped working. Mine is protected tho, using a custom ROM, however, I would like to clarify myself a bit anyway. TIA
I bought a Xiaomi redmi note 10s, global versión, factory unlocked, in Amazon, United States. My intention is to use it in Cuba. Could I configure it in Unite States and then use it in Cuba with no problems? This is what I’ve been thinking, since I don’t want to modify the boot loader, just use the phone as a standard user.
Can Xiaomi detect my phone If I use a SIM card from Cuba?

Activate the phone in the US using a US sim card for a couple of weeks then you should be good

As far as I know there are no authorized sellers by Xiaomi in any of those countries, so if they want to block their phones they have to do it either on everyone or none at all. I think it might have happened on some few Chinese or European versions devices smuggled into those countries Or else we would have millions of users complaining it not just some rumors with one or two pics

Question Rooting possible? Oneplus 10 pro 5G/10T 5G

Hello everyone I live in Canada and I use a Koodo network (part of Telus wireless). I am Interested in trying a oneplus phone because I came from a samsung galaxy s8 and in Canada mine is boot loader locked. My s8 model # SM-G950W and it seems like many sources say its not possible to root. I am interested in a one plus 10 pro 5G (https://www.oneplus.com/ca_en/10-pro) or a newly released oneplus 10T 5G. Are either of these phones rootable? And if so, has anyone done it? Is rooting stable? Does it have many failures/bugs/errors? Can anyone confirm which oneplus device is best for rooting and is rooting partially done or fully rooted?
Many thanks!!

I have checked this post and there doesn't seem to be any confirmation regarding what steps to take if a s22 is bootloader locked as with many samsung phones here in North america which come bootloader locked
Get the Motorola p90 pro.
I'd even look at the nothing phone 1 if you could get it, looks great, uses a 788 SOC I think, plus it's cheap and that glyph lighting is brilliant.
Rooting shouldn't be a problem but there won't be many if any custom ROMs.
The pixel 6 does have a couple of custom ROMs but they're far and few between the days.
I couldn't recommend a Sammy device as the bloat and weird convaluted OS is just horrific.

if you want a unlocked phone, then buy a unlocked phone. don't buy a subsidized locked phone then complain that you can't unlock the phone on contract.
pretty sure that says unlocked

do you know op 10 is also sd 8 gen 1?
my op 10 pro and samsung tab s8 ultra are both sd 8 gen 1 and both rooted
from what region did u buy those devices from ?
Also what is the model version for your rooted oneplus 10 pro ?
but seriously, don't buy this phone. you are pretty much screwed if you screw up rooting. no way to restore if you brick it.

Question Global rom question

I've heard that when Vivo launches the fold in India it'll get a global rom. My first question is do we have any idea of when that'll be? Is there a timeline that they generally release their phones in other markets after the Chinese release?
My second question is that when they release the Indian version, will people be able to flash it to phones with the Chinese firmware?
I know nobody can give a definitive answer to these questions, I'm just hoping for reasonable speculation.
If there's global variant, vivo releases it within 1 month (or a week) from the release of China variant.
e.g. X80 Pro was released in April (CN) and May (Global)
I think there will be no global variant for Fold.
You can flash global ROM on Chinese variant, but you need to unlock bootloader, which is blocked after the firmware with compile time 2022-04.
The Vivo X Note and Vivo X Fold were released at the same time and there has been no Global release for either of them.
I really don't see this happening if I am honest about the ask.
Which I don't expect it to technically.
Well, I'm disappointed in the answer, but I appreciate the information. I guess I'm going to wait for the Samsung announcement and then probably buy the Vivo unless I'm really surprised.

frcraig just passed on in this thread, that there is a leaked Vivo X Fold S with possible Global Funtouch,
thought you may want to know being that the Fold 4 is being introduced later today.
Thank you for letting me know!! I've gone ahead and ordered the Fold 4, since there's a $200 discount if you signed up early, but it won't arrive until August 26 and I've got at least two weeks to return it, so if the Vivo with a global rom really does come out I'm planning on returning the Fold and getting that.
I would caution anybody who's decision relies on the global rom and has the early discount to go ahead and order the Samsung just in case Vivo doesn't come through.

Yes, did the same, got all three new offerings: phone, watch, buds, and case... been on the fence with the X Fold but the lack of VoLTE is an huge issue with both the Chinese Rom and the possible new Global S version, so that is sad. I hope I don't regret the SZF4 purchase as it looks like I am stuck with this because of these main issues with the larger format foldable imports:
- Vivo X fold in Canada has no VoLTE (LOVE the excellent wider format size and amazing quality & would be willing to live with the poor multi-tasking, but with the VoLTE not there, this is a really big issue)
- Huawei Mate fold with the external screens has excellent multi-tasking but no Google services.
- Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold 2 looks nice and thin 5.4 mm open, but front screen may still be too narrow when it comes out
- Oppo Find N has very little screen crease in centre (similarly also the Vivo), but don't like the smaller format
You're not risking very much. With the early launch discounts, you can probably sell it for what you paid for it in the first few months, so if that VoLTE problem gets fixed, you can always ditch the Fold 4 and get most of your money back. That's my plan if the Vivo X Fold S gets the Funtouch firmware.
I do love the previous generation of the Buds. I think they just happen to fit my ears perfectly, so they perform much better for me than higher rated ear buds.

Same here, will the global version support Android Auto?
The only thing that holds me from buying the vivo is AA not working. I hope there would be a global version and to support AA.

For VOLTE try to use the hidden menu comands to turn on or off the Carrier provisioning for WiFI calling and VoLTE. Also call your carrier and give them an IMEI for Samsung 5 g phone that is white listed on your carrier. I have been using Huawei, Xiaomi and Redmi phones and I was able to bypass the carrier blockings and getting the 4g/5G WiFi calli g and VoLTE

I am running with the full Samsung suite, Z fold 4, watch 5 pro, and buds pro. I really wanted to get the Vivo X Fold, even the Xiaomi Mi Mix... but was too many questions around support and looked like very little options for Canadian carrier customers in getting latest carrier standards here. I know in the States, there were some carriers that the phone did work, but none of the carriers in Canada were supporting the Chinese phones here, at the time. I think some have found work-arounds since, but software is still not as refined or supported as Samsung's systems here in Canada. I did have a Huawei Note 8 for over 7 years and is still a beast of a phone, but the old android system software wasn't working well with some current apps.
