does kies firmware update remove root?

today kies says that there is a firmware update, it seems to be gingerbread!!
my doubt is if it is going to remove the root privileges from my galaxy...
any idea?
thanks bye
I imagine it will wipe your device clean and therefore yes it will remove root.
What I'd be interested to know is whether this has the locked bootloader business included. Anyone know?
First Yes THIS IS GINGERBREAD
Second Yes it will remove root

Confirmed!
Root removed... and now?
Now what? oh you want to root. Head to the dev section and get CF root kernel if you want to root access.
Superoneclick roots gingerbread, right?
does it remove the unlock of simlock (i.e. restore simlock??)
does it remove the unlock of simlock (i.e. restore simlock as in the ios devices??)

[Q] Directly root DDLB2

Hi, I'm a new user & I need to root my GNote. I read the thread by dr.ketan. But I need to root my phone directly (without downgrading). Is it possible now ? or do I need to wait few days (until CF-Root is out for DDLB2) ? or is it mandatory to downgrade it ?
no it's not possible. it has nothing to do with CF root LB2 or the present LB1. you still have to downgrade, root and then upgrade.

Thank you !, Well, I'll downgrade it first then.
btw, will it increase the flash count if I downgrade via PC odin (mentioned in dr.katen's post) ?

No, flashing stock Roms with PC Odin never increases the flash counter. Flashing custom Roms/kernels does.

[Q] Updated to 4.3 No ROOT :(

Hi all,
Just updated to Sony's latest offering .266 and, obviously, lost ROOT access.
Has anyone any info on how to re-root? I am on a locked bootloader and cannot unlock it.
Please advise? I have lost all of my custom settings and cannot change until I have root access.

There's no root method for locked bootloader for 4.3 as for now. Or you can try the root method by sir @jancsessz tho you'll need to downgrade it back to 4.1.2. Didn't work for me tho but worth a try :silly:

Soo first you'd want to downgrade to 4.1.2 which can be easily done using flashtool
And then use Doomlord's method. This one is for .245 and .254
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933
When you've done rooting you'll need CWM. Not sure about the original thread but here's the download link
http://d-h.st/Las
Extract and run the install.bat after rooting and you'll get both root access and CWM
Then follow the tutorial from earlier to update to 4.3 and voila! :victory:
It is a new update. Why are we so unpatience? Let the developers work on this!

[Q] I need lollipop kernel for my Xperia ZR(c5502)

Hi,
Is there anyone have lollipop kernel for Xperia zr(c5502).I want to root my phone through flash my phone to kitkat kernel and after rooting my phone I'll flash back to lollipop kernel. If anyone don't have the lollipop kernel then please tell me how to get kernel from ftf file.
If you want to root just use the kingroot new version. There a guide in this forum. is it really works if rooting with flash the kernel??

I have tried kingoroot's latest version and it didn't work for me.So I want to try rooting my device in old way. When my device was in Kitkat 4.4.4 version I couldn't root it because easy rooting method was only available for kitkat 4.4.2,So I used 4.4.2 kernel to root my 4.4.4 kitkat updated device. This is why I want lollipop kernel for my device.Easy rooting instruction-“flash kitkat 4.4.2 kernel>use towelroot to root your device>after that again flash lollipop 5.0.2 kernel", that's all.Now you can have root access in your device.
Don't think so when i tried to flash 230 "4.4.2" kernel to root it it failed i got boot loop after flashing it and even after flashing the 454 kernel it still there and i had to flash the L Rom again

So what to do then?I need to root my phone and there is no way to easily root lollipop. So that easy rooting method was only available for kitkat version only?

Sonys. 368 firmware isn't rootable with a app on locked bootloader. This has been discussed many times here on XDA.
To get root you can
Unlock your bootloader or
Flash a pre rooted 5.1.1 firmware.
You need flash ftf downgrade to 5.0.2 or 4.4.4 Kitkat then you can root it successful.
Did you tried kingo root?

There is no One-click root application at the moment that can root 5.1.1
Kingo Root & Kingroot is an example of what you can consider as One-click root application - they both cannot root 5.1.1

@Anonymuszymus, you will need to downgrade to 5.0.2 or 4.4.4 root it, install a recovery option, then flash a pre-rooted 5.1.1

Just flash stock 5.0.2
Then get kingroot and root your device and download the replace your kingroot with SuperSU zip and use terminal emulator to switch it. Here's the link for the full instructions that's how did it then I was able to install recovery and flash ROMs http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html?m=1
