Update Xperia Z C6603 from Android 5 to 6 or better - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched the forum but although I can build a Windows PC and install an OS etc, I don’t understand all the jargon around Androids. Could somebody please answer a simple question – is it possible to upgrade an Xperia Z with Android 5.1.1 to use Apps which require Android 6 or later ?
I’m happy to take a chance on booting my phone to fastboot and flashing files from my PC – just need somebody to point me to the relevant post or url. Thanks.

You need to wait for the December update or downgrade to Oreo to unlock the phone.
Then you will need to use the installation instructions in the first page of this thread.

Gsi image flash for samsung a30 (sm-a305f)

Hi developers and fellow modders!
I got to know that our samsung a30 supports project treble and so we can install any gsi(generic system image ) it!!
That means latest updates as well of almost any android too be it stock or not!!
I wanted to know why is there no post regarding this?
Moreover this requires twrp which is already available and the vendor.zip needs to be found and then we can install any gsi rom out there be it lineage, pixel experience etc etc... Pls help pls as there is virtually no development for android 10.

Hello everybody! My Meizu M5 (M611H) makes me desperate.

Hello everybody.
I like doing small repairs in electronics. In the past I have reflasced in some wifi routers and installed LineageOS in an old Sansung Grand Prime SM-G531F.
Instead I have not been able to unlock the bootloader of my Meizu M5 (M611H) for months. There are many self-styled guides but in the end they give generic indications for the majority of android systems. For example, I do not need external applications to root because it is provided by Meizu itself through the login on the Flame OS site, and the other thing is that Meizu M611H in the developer options does not have the "Unlock OEM" option. do it via fastboot commands. I'm really desperate ...
Hi, you can flash this twrp recovery with mediatek flash tool.
you not have to unlock bootloader.
Meizu M5 TWRP
Hello. Thank you!
I will certainly try to flash you twrp.
Could you please tell me which is the best firmware you have found for this device?
Thank you very much!

The kernel source code of this device is not open source.
incapable of action.
This device has lineage 14.1, which was created by the Russians, but there are many problems, such as the sound doesn't seem to work !
Only official firmware can be used !

Can I use mediatek flash tool with any Flyme Firmware installed on the M5?
In the past I always reinstalled the first Flyme 5.2.10.3G version
while trying to install twrp.
I currently use the version 7.8.8.31 beta which I found on page Flyme 7 Experience Beta for M5 & M5s.
If I can't install a custom rom, how can I take advantage of the trwp? In addition to doing the root and being able to make a full backup of the rom image?
Thanks Iamverycute!

Yes, you can.
All functions of this recovery are available.
If you try to install Android 5, after restarting the device, this recovery may fail !

I am a new bee in mobile hardening and Operating System Customization. I have Samsung A12 SM-a127F and I want to install Lineage OS and GSI image

I have recently bought Samsung Galaxy A12 SM-a127f Android 12 Binary 7
I want to install Lineage OS and GSI image on it for some reason.
According to best of my knowledge, there is no official custom recovery (TWRP) available on Samsung official website. Therefore, I have decided to downgrade it to Android version 11 but unfortunately no firmware of Android version 11 has been flashed till yet.
Note: I have already unlocked the phone by enabling OEM unlock mode and successfully flashed "Samfw.com_SM-A127F_XSG_A127FXXU7BVI4_fac" on my device
Please help me in downgrading my device and for the installation of TWRP on it

This is to avoid having long titles.
Have a good time to xda and I hope you find the answer to your problem, and go to see this forum Galaxy A12

If you're able to install TWRP, you should be able to run any GSI you want.
I have written a guide here but it is your responsibility to know what you are doing.
Read also that thread, there are at least two guides for A600X:
Question about lack of A6 ROMs
After spending a couple of weeks searching for LineageOS for the A6 (not A6+), I've discovered that there's very little support for this device. Why is this?

And after that I flashed rmm and multi Samsung disabler( tried to boot to Samsung stock but failed)so, I installed gsi by this guide Post in thread 'Question about lack of A6 ROMs' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/question-about-lack-of-a6-roms.4399123/post-86381773

It's hard to say, try maybe flashing different kernel at first, and if it won't help ten play with different GSI's from the list:

You can try. but don't use old custom recovery, because Android 12+ can cause recovery bootloop. Try with this OrangeFox. Such GSI gives no guarantee of proper work on that A600X vendor.

As usual - in custom recovery (flash as boot image).
Working on andriod 10?
Sure, works perfectly.
