i am not an expert at android but i had found some workarounds to use legacy camera on newer kernels on this website
https://review.lineageos.org/q/topic:android-o-mr1-camera-hal1-lineage-15.1
if these changes are made to the os is there a possibility of the camera working?

Hi! Cameras here are a bit more complicated than just 7.1 -> 8.1 bump
We changed the kernel as well here which lead to change in the rmsg implementation by TI.
The 3.0 kernel blobs had camera support but since there are no 3.4 ones for our device, we use some from another device without camera, it doesnt work.
There are a few threads trying to get Ducati (OMAP4's imaging subsystem) to work with 3.4 kernel

I use my personal laptop for these builds and have an espresso3g only, so im very quickly running out of space and time if i try and build espressowifi as well.
Since espresso3g depends on espressowifi any build using my sources should work without any issues for espressowifi, its just that i dont have the hardware for it, building two devices takes quite the space and build time
If you can build it yourself and/or have build servers in mind lmk

I wish I could build, but unfortunately I can't.

If you turn off the screen by pressing the power button, or by the timer, the screen does not turn on with the power button or volume.
If charge when off, then the screen is always on with a black background. Also, when it is turned off and charging, if you hold down the power button, it will not turn on
Aurora store nightly installs but does not open as in aosp 8.1
Do you have the same problems?
Thanks a lot
upd. if turn on in a horizontal position, it does not respond to pressing and the window "A vendor image mismatch ..." hangs, and if you turn it on in a vertical position, then the window can be closed

Maybe @LR7875 will read this thread and build a ROM.zip.

Could you try enabling volume button wakes device from settings and check if that works?
Not even plugging it into charging wakes it up which is very weird.
Didnt try aurora store, could you send the logcat?
The horizontal/vertical problem is very sus, i get the vendor thingy but i can just press okay and it goes away

alright, im going to build this for espressowifi @Mighty
its nice to finally get off the aging UA code since its not getting updated anymore
lineageos is way nicer
what roomservice.xml are you using and which operating system your using? (im using ubuntu 16.04, but i dont know if its the right version to build this. last time i built lineageos 15.1 for a different device i used ubuntu 20.04, so im wondering if i need to use that.

Shouldn't matter, it's Ubuntu 20.04 in wsl that I use.
Sources are in #1 post
The issue of device not waking up seems to be much deeper, once it's in sleep it doesn't change its state no matter what

If you or @Mighty can share your manifest, or let me know which branch of @Mighty's repos to use, I can try t make a build of LineageOS for microg

Wow! It's amazing! I still use my tablet and I'm glad to see that someone supports it! Looking forward to the Wi-Fi build! Thank you very much!

Team OctOs presents Oct-L.
We maintain a current release record and change-log on our website: http://www.teamoctos.com
- Please Do Not Mirror our files without talking to us. We can do that ourselves should we desire to. -
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 5 (Lollipop)?
A: Yes, this is Android 5.1.1
Q: What code is Oct-L based on?
A: Starting with Oct-L, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 12 code.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: All Android code is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Under previous releases, we tried very hard to limit the number of "Not from Google directly" repositories that we used. Unfortunately, issues with devices, the need for Code Aurora Foundation (CAF) repositories for Qualcomm devices, and compatibility issues meant fighting code more often than not. We decided that since the code-base for many repositories were the same across most ROMs, picking a starting point to build the user experience on outweighed the desire to craft code from scratch, or fix broken code to make it work with other changes we already had.
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-L.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favourite Android 5 based GApps package
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files
Reboot
The Oct-L ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider
* OctOS ROM Downloads
The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. We have all code we use internally in the creation of Oct-L available on our GitHub repositories.
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-L builds use the device's stock CyanogenMod 12.1 kernel.

DATA/3G SIM Switching
hello>>>>
i appreciate your hard work. the rom is too smooth.
still smoth with 5 modules in xposed.
it would be very good anjd great if you fixed the Data/3g sim switching bugs
Nice Work.... Lovely And Smooth ROM
I appeciate your hard works.
I found your rom is very smooth even if i have 9 xposed modules running.
I m currently using your latest build.
i love the way that you keep all customization in Tentacles. its easy to navigate.
it would be better if you added some other features like Gesture Lock Screen, App Side Bar, System Animations with duration, Data Traffic Monitors, screenshots delay etc.
moreover, your ROM is the best ROM i have ever used.

i flashed xposed framework and installed 8 modules. all are working properly. the use of xuimod makes the rom a little bit slow and laggy. but when i apply custom patch from lucky patcher (e.g. Greenify), the result comes like this "patch already done or pattern error and failed". and after closing this when i open an app it automatically closes without any popup message. and i have to reboot my device. what's the problem?????

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
This thread is for Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 builds for lt02ltespr (SM-T217S). The following will not be supported here:
Custom kernels

Xposed
I don't support Xposed and any logcat which includes a Xposed module will be ignored. You're kindly invited to not report bugs if you:
Flashed a custom kernel

Changelog:
4/13/17
Fixed the camera Thanks @DarkFrenzy
Removed unused drm blobs
Updated the time_daemon from shamu
4/10/17
Fixed glitchy power off animation Thanks @DarkFrenzy
Removed button backlight settings (They are unsupported)
Lowered the first boot time by enabling dexpreopt (The zip is a bit bigger but the old boot time was just unacceptable in my eyes)
Enabled some core system files to stay in ram so things should be a bit smoother.
Fixed adb not working unless you had selected mtp as the usb type
4/8/17
Initial release
I have redone the device trees from scratch based off of the galaxy s4 mini trees. @DarkFrenzy did the same thing awhile ago but he did not keep the history so it was useless to me. I also wanted to redo it because it lets me understand it better. My end goal is for it to become official but for that i have to fix the camera. But i have already upstreamed the kernel commits into the LineageOS msm8930-common kernel.
Thanks for still supporting our T217S. I'll give it shot and report.

Thanks for the Support for this device.
The camera is working fine in my RR build which I built with latest changes from Serrano tree which has some libc fix for camera.
For screen bug you have to set animate to true in device Samsung qcom repo like this https://github.com/FaArIsH/android_...mmit/51f24a5eed4203356c6669614f4dcbe979d74cc4
Yes its better to start from scratch then using my trees I m very lazy to use github that's y I don't use it the best way.
And also its best to give credits to @arco68 instead of me.

My trees are based on the latest serrano tree's i am not sure why the camera does not work. Thanks for the suggestion on the screen bug the next build will have it i merged in the samsung qcom repo.
New build in OP
Changelog:
Fixed glitchy power off animation Thanks @DarkFrenzy
Removed button backlight settings (They are unsupported)
Lowered the first boot time by enabling dexpreopt (The zip is a bit bigger but the old boot time was just unacceptable in my eyes)
Enabled some core system files to stay in ram so things should be a bit smoother.
Fixed adb not working unless you had selected mtp as the usb type
Thank you!! I'll be watching to see how this pans out.
New build in OP
4/13/17 build
Fixed the camera Thanks @DarkFrenzy
Removed unused drm blobs
Updated the time_daemon from shamu
I spoke too soon, when I wake it up from sleep the backlight is off.
New update in OP
This unoffical thread will now be for test builds that i deem stable so the community can test them before i merge the changes into the "stable" lineage builds.
Changelog:
Removed more unused drm blobs
Fixed backlight issues (Reverted back to the original liblights)
Update prima wlan firmware (This should fix 5ghz wifi let me know though i do not have one)
I am having a problem that everytime I try to install is comes up with error 7 and doesnt do anything in twrp.
Update:
Looks like I needed older version of twrp. It flashed waiting on bootup
Another problem, when doing the setup at first boot up I select new device and it crashes the wizard. I cant get past the wizard at all.

No sadly the other variants of this tablet use a different cpu/gpu so a direct port is not possible
Is it safe to flash the wifionly.zip file onto this image so I can remove the annoying Sprint messages (I have no intention of ever using the mobile functionality)?

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 7 (Nougat)?
A: Yes, this is Android 7.1.2
Q: What code is Oct-N based on?
A: This version of Oct-N is based on LineageOS 14.1
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But all the others have..
A: ROM developers, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-N.
Q: What about root?
A: Root is removed by default (user will be able to flash which ever root zip they want)
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favorite Open Gapps package http://opengapps.org
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
The Oct-N ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your Gapps Provider. When dirty flashing weekly updates, you MUST reflash Gapps along with any other files, apps, custom mods or kernels etc.. (anything that resides in system partition)
Flash ROM, GApps and any additional .ZIP files
Reboot

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Front cam crashes when i bring face closer to camera. Logcat given.
Anyone having issues with google drive auto-closing (won't launch)?
Yes buddy... i had the same issue and the phone stuck onto Qualcomm:Crash Dump while booting.
I would have to again install TWRP 3.4.0-2 and it would boot up.

Is the kernel source closed for the moment, last commit in device repo is also from 1st September. Must be some valid reason. Your device sources are key for other custom roms.
@LuK1337 you are a great developer, would really appreciate the local manifest in op if all the dependencies repo does not get synced automatically on build start. You do all the hardwork but some people get very happy just after compiling the rom from your source. Some like me want to add desired features on it. OP6t is about to be an EOL device, you are the only saviour for us.

The question was not for me, but I would still like to share something: There are no kernel/config changes needed for R (https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/configs/+/refs/heads/android11-release/r/), so 17.1 and 18 can use the same branch without problems.
This rom is amazing and so smooth all we need now is to pass safety net and if gapps can be included battery life is amazing and very fluid I tried other 11 Roms but this one is very smooth just need to pass safety net and is there a telegram group ?

Yes. In fact no other canary / debug build works for me except the old one that you linked to. All the updated ones, and Magisk 21 all result in my phone booting straight to Fastboot. Uninstalling them make the phone boot again. That one from September works fine for some reason?

Glad you liked it, mtp host or you can say it otg, is broken in device tree, so I will need to fix it in device tree, it's not rom side issue.
Apart from it, for lock option and clear all in recents, you can consider flashing this magisk module.

I am a bit busy these days with my studies so I will look into it when I will get time.
For launcher stuff, check this guide Link
Hi, @Akash23q2 I had it installed but had issues with the worn out tablet and reinstalled. Now I can't get it to boot. Would you mind looking at log to see if you can identify where the error is. I pulled logcat while stuck at boot animation so it is complete from startup to freeze. If you have time, no rush.
well, can't get log file to load. will keep trying. had to upload to mediafire acct as I could not attach it here.
logcat.txt
There is an issue with the site blocking certain .txt files according to content. Have to compress them to get past screening.

Project Sakura is a custom ROM based on Lineage OS, It tries to remain true to it while also providing some more functionality and UI changes. Its sole purpose is to provide a platform which is powered by Lineage and is more customisable than Lineage.

Yes, I know you are busy with studies and stuff. But can you please make a custom ROM of pixel experience for lenovo tab x304 f/l?. I would be grateful if you can make the file.

make sure you are in 9008 mode by running lsusb and run qdl commands as root
edit; just realized you get that message using the guide for getting bootloader unlocked, right ?
