Question Will a Galaxy Watch 5 bought in Spain work in the UK? - Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

Good afternoon,
I appreciate the watch itself will work, but I am wondering about things like Google Pay/Samsung Pay. A few years ago I bought a galaxy watch 3 (pro maybe?) from Amazon which happened to be from UAE, so I couldn't set Samsung Pay up (google pay wasn't available back then).
Thanks!

Hey Carlos,
I can't say for sure that this will work well, Samsung usually makes different kinds of software for different regions which can cause issues like your UAE watch had. I've had a friend who ordered one from Germany and all the Google Pay / Samsung Pay things worked normally. Keep in mind you'll pay an import duty on it.
The only thing that immediately comes to mind is that you will likely not be able to fall back on your warranty in case any issues arise. Also your charger will have an EU plug. I normally get my smartwatch accessories at Smartwatch-Straps.co.uk but they don't seem to have any chargers in stock, sadly.
Kind regards,
David

Good morning,
I bought via Rakuten (marketplace) a Galaxy Watch 5 4G in Spain and I live in France. On reception, I have Eastern European countries but not France. Will I have limitations? Why does this watch, in the EUR/UK version, offer eastern countries but not all western European countries? Is it possible to replace the firmware for a compatible one in France?
Regards,
Romain

Hey Romain, you can change your region perhaps. This is a one-time process though, and you can't revert it. You must first find the EMEI of your watch. this should be in your settings somewhere.
To start the progress:
Open your watch dial pad and enter: " #272*EMEI# " of course use your own EMEI here.
Next you should be able to select your region code. For france this should be XEF.
Hope this helped. Let me know!
Kind regards

[Q] Galaxy Note from China, can I buy it ?????

Hello every one
I am a french citizen living in China for one year
I am dreaming to buy a Galaxy Note, but I can buy it only in China, is someone can tell me if it will work properly when I will come back to France ?
If not is there a possibility to change the system at this moment?
Sorry but I am a novice in this matter
Thank you in advance for your help
Yes as long as you buy the GSM version. Not sure if there is some CDMA weird version for the Chinese market.
Agreed, look for the GSM bandwidths, I think the EU's on 900 and 1800.

Thank you very much for your help. i have a similar question
where are you folks planning to buy?
hey, I'm an American in Shanghai - I've been planning on buying one as well, but it seems the only choices are
a) buy a "brand-new" model, grey-market European version, 50% chance it's a refurb, but can offer local store warranty for ~3280rmb ($520 USD), or
b) buy an official, brand-new one for 4100rmb ($650 USD)
I almost pulled the trigger on the grey-market one, but it just kills me to know that I can get a brand-new NON-refurb for $500 USD through Newegg in the US... arrgh.

I bought mine on taobao from Shenzhen, 1 day shipping. I think that is safer than buyer from a store in shanghai, as the taobao sellers are selling loads of these phones.
Mine had been opened and made chinese even it is a european version. they changed some settings so you'll default to chinese language after a wipe/upgrade, and the samsung keyboard didn't work when I first good it. But after reinstalling european firmware everything is good.
I would stay away from official version because of price and I'm also not sure if all google services work on those.

yeah - the quote I had for ~3300 was from a taobao seller with a brick 'n mortar store. At least there's somewhere to go if the thing is borked. The "warranty" is through the store and not samsung, but at least they know where (taobao!) to source screens/mobo and claim to give 2 years replacement service should anything go wrong. still might pull the trigger on it... unless one of my friends goes back to the states in the next couple of weeks.
Did your seller offer any kind of warranty?

will LTE GW3 work with any e-sim?

Hi Everybody,
I am about to upgrade my Galaxy Watch to the latest model. I would like to take the opportunity to get the LTE version, so I can get rid of one of my phones. The problem is that in my country (Italy) LTE version is not for sale, and I doubt will ever be.
I have done my homeworks and I can get the watch i want from UK or eastern europe, and I can also buy an e-sim from TIM, a local carrier.
My simple question is: will it work ? I am afraid the carrier will not activate the line on a non-officially supported HW (although they support Galaxy watch). E-sim is still a mysterious world for TIM tech support, so I hope someone here can help...
thank you!
GG
Hi again, here is a simpler query:
- did anyone activate the Galaxy watch 3 Lte with a carrier in a country different from the country of purchase? E-sim is a new tricky matter where i have zero experience, and I am really afraid of wasting money on a cellular function that will never work... hope that someone will help!!
Thank you!
Hello,
I have LTE but it's in same country. I think country does not matter.
When you start the watch first time, it proposes you to connect to LTE thru e-sim with the same carrier as your smartphone.
All i had to do was to click on the subscribe button for an e-sim, directly... It was all proposed by the watch and smartphone itself for my carrier.
So i'd guess that there will be no issue... cannot confirm it 100% though
There is no need to buy an e-sim separately if you have it available at your phone carrier, for me it was just a monthly 5€ sub. in addition to my phone bill. The connexion was instantly available as soon as i clicked sub.
I'm in France... and i assume the watches are same as many europe countries (DE, Swiss, Italy, FR, etc) since they proposed these when i started the watch, but there was no UK proposed so might be different watch there...?
Thanks for the answer,!
In italy the lte version is exclusive to a carrier, that will not release it soon, so the only way to get right now is buying it abroad.
I often buy phones in other countries, and they always worked: bur with e sim this now is far from certain as the phones IMEI must be activated by the carrier ( see the ' sprint' thread here in this forum), like in the old pre-GSM times.
That is why I was hoping someone had a similar experience, thanks anyway!
I'm in UK, got it from Samsung so not network branded, and during activation it just asked if I wanted to enable it on the phone as I went through activation. Went to my carriers e-sim sign up (same page as the watch '1' used) and hey presto it all worked.
That was on EE BTW, but know that Vodafone works in UK too, think only three don't have an esim option here at the moment, as I'm sure a friend had his 1 on O2 (Telefonica)

Does region really matter?

I brought a Galaxy watch 3 on Amazon listed in the title as (UK version) yet when I got it and started set up the language was fine but regions were only Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Czech Rep, Slovakia and a few others, yet no UK....
I figure the reason a manufacturer uses regions is because some content may or may not be available in some regions?
I called Amazon and they offered a refund only, no replacement and the biggest kick in the teeth loss of any prime day discount, they stated they could not replace as its a third part seller. He claims the region does not matter, so I came here to try to find out if it does and why?
Thanks for helping me to decide whether to send it back or not. I paid £369.99 for the 45mm
Change the region. There are some guides on youtube how to change the region csc.

US Version

Hey guys,
I'm really intested to get the galaxy watch 3 but sadly in Germany they don't offer the ecg/BP yet. If I buy a watch from a US store, let it ship overseas and activate it in Germany will I be able to use those functions?
There is no BP yet but you do get ECG. If you want everything SPay, BP, ECG and such use the Brazil ZTO firmware.

I don't know the answer to this. The issue is also to check if you have LTE support for watch bought in USA as well if you choose this version.
I know for example where I live on GW3 they will not get ECG and BP in the future so buying in a different market or changing csc is relevant for me as well.
It seems sideloading ECG/BP with the latest firmware is now not so easy.
You can buy the watch in Germany. When you setup the watch you can choose a different region, e. g. Spain. Spain supports BP, ECG, spO2, and Samsung Pay.
I bought my watch in Holland (same problem, no functions released yet, except spO2) and got everything working by choosing Spain as region.
Please do make sure the watch is intended for the German Market. Some retailers import watches from abroad. If the country they imported the watch from is not part of the group of countries Germany and Spain are part of, you get stuck. In Holland, e. g. Coolblue only sells products intended for the Dutch market and are quite reliable. BOL and Amazon work with 3rd party retailers who import from abroad and are not reliable in this aspect. Coolblue is also active in Germany.
You can also buy directly from Samsung.de,which shouldn't give you a problem either.

Some had complained they couldnt see one or the other. Wasn't aware all functions work with Spain CSC as Brazil ZTO had official BP confirmation and other functions.

Best region with all the features (SpO2, BP, ECG)

I'm planning on changing regions but I'm not sure which one to use. What would you guys recommend?
Also, can this be done after a reset of the watch or do I have to go through the whole CSC process?
I was asking myself the same question last night. I searched all the threads related to BP and region change with no luck.
I was also trying to find the combination and stock roms for TK1 version but seems like all the sites that have the files are pay to download. (I don't mind paying but paying around $20 to get 2 files?)
Anyway, if anyone know the answer to the OP's question, I will also appreciate it.
ZTO everything works
Hi everyone, I’m writing from Italy.
In October I bought a galaxy watch3 LTE from Amazon.USA and imported it here in Italy, cause it was not available yet here, it was released in the lte version only recently.
I didn’t know that the watch was not compatible here in Italy, but only for the US, and after the last update of a week ago I’m having issues with the watch, like connection problems, notifications not appearing on the watch and also the LTE is not working.
I tried to contact both Samsung US and Amazon US, but they both told me that they cannot do anything to help me, no replacement or return, nothing.
So I searched online if there was a way to change my watch software from US to Italy, and with my extreme surprise I found out that there is the possibility to change the region of the watch to every country in the world.
My questions are: what can I do to change the region of my US galaxy watch3 LTE? There are any compatible ways to do that? Will the change of the region prevent my watch to get future updates? And after the change will I be able to use LTE here in Italy?
Thanks to everyone who will reply!!
P.S. I have to change the current SM-R845U (that is a US version) to an SM-R845F (that should be an Italian version, right?)
