Question First smart watch. Having issues with Watch Face Studio. Can't test or use my own face. - Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

Just got a GW5 Pro and thought I'd have a play with WFS so I can have everything match. After a day of learning things I hit a wall where I couldn't find the info on complications I was after. I thought the best way would be to just take a best guess approach and just test the face and see. Here's where the problem happened.
Attempt 1:
I followed the instructions on connecting my watch to the PC WFS for testing. The software couldn't see my watch. I tried multiple times turning all the settings off and on again and going through the steps 1 by 1 and double checking what I was reading.
Attempt 2:
After giving up I went through the instructions for instead using my phone (S23 Ultra) connected to my PC via USB cable, connect to GW5 with bluetooth. Seemed easy enough until I hit the issue of turning on bluetooth debugging on my phone. I looked everywhere for it, it doesn't exist. I could see my phone in WFS but not my watch.
Attempt 3:
Third attempt was to just "build" the face and load it manually. It gave me 2 files APK and AAB, I put them in a shared folder and installed the APK on my phone through the network. After a couple of security warning popups it finished and it didn't do anything that I can see. I tried copying both the files onto my phone and reinstalling the APK. Still no luck.
So, after trying 3 different ways I'm lost as to what to try next. There's no point spending more time on building my custom watch face if it's not even possible to use it.
Thanks heaps in advance for the help and suggestions.

this is interesting, because from what I've tested (totally basic level, to be fair), I've got MOST issues with signing apk file. After that it went well.
If you cannot see your watch in debugging mode, delete their remembered ID and try to connect again. That trick helped me few times, when installing ECG workaround.

I'm completely new to this, what do you mean by "delete their remembered ID"?

in other words, maybe "unpair" or "forgot" your watch will be better word to this? Don't know exact words, because I'm using watch studio in my native language (which isn't English).
I remember that I've got similar issues and had to completely remove watch from known devices in watchface studio.

Its currently only paired with my phone. I tried turning BT off on my watch , then turning on wifi, connecting to my home wifi (turning on adb debugging and debug over wifi). Hit scan on my PC, nothing. Entered the IP address of my watch, nothing.
Idk if unpairing would help if I have BT off. Would it muck anything up unpairing and repairing?

Some warning that if you unpair from the phone you HAVE to do a complete wipe of all data on your watch before you are allowed to pair it back again would have been nice to know.
So after that my PC can still not see my watch over wifi.

[Q] Phone will connect to open wifi network but not secure ones

Had my phone for a few months now and recently found that it can't connect to my secure network at home.
When I turn wifi on I get the dreaded connect/disconnect message while it constantly tries to connect to my network. If I leave it on then the battery will drain overnight while the phone tries to connect. I have an iphone which connects to the network no problem. As does my laptop etc
To try to fix this I deleted all my new apps, especially the push ones which give me news updates, etc but this has made no difference.
The weird thing is if I turn off my router's security then the phone will connect and works perfectly fine. I've tried using all the different security settings (even WPS) with new passwords etc and everything seems to setup fine on the phone except it just doesn't want to connect (or more accurately stays connected for a microsecond).
If I go back to an open network it connects immediately and stays connected.
I think this is the root cause of the wifi connection problems that many other people are getting. But I'm at a loss to try to understand why it won't pick up a secure network but works fine otherwise.
My phone is using 2.2.1 and has been rooted
Any thoughts?

Root the problem highly unlikely ..
Secure home network test .
Remove security from Router that is no password .
Remove that connection from phone .
Reboot phone let it pick up router and connect .
If it does then delete reset router password and add in phone .
jje
Thanks for suggested fix. I'll give it a go and let you know if it worked.
Root was a bad choice of word..... I meant that while looking for a solution to my wifi problem I noticed many other people complaining that they can't connect to a wifi network for one reason or another and I was thinking that maybe broken security is a common cause of many wifi connection issues.. In my case there was nothing physical at all to suggest that security was an issue, especially since all my other devices work fine on the same network.
Cheers
Hi, tried your suggestion but I still cant connect. The first time I rebooted the phone it knocked out my internet connection! I've setup a static IP address for my PC and the phone was insisting on trying to connect using the same address and creating a conflict. I fixed that so that's not the issue.
This is what I've tried..
I checked to make sure DHCP was enabled in the router, rebooted everything. No luck.
I tried adding an IP Address Reservation for the phone and assigning a dedicated static IP Address. No luck either
I tried connecting the device using WPS. It all went as it should - my router saw the device, added the mac address to the list of devices etc. The phone acknowledged the handshake. But again it still wont connect.
I checked the router log and it says "DHCP IP: (192.168.1.2)] to MAC address B4:07:F9:336:3D, Tuesday, May 24,2011 03:08:48" which I think is what it should say.
OK I've just fixed it!!! Or at least its connected.
All along I've been securing the network with WPA2-PSK. I just changed it to WEP and the phone connected immediately. I hadn't considered WEP because I read that its not that secure and I do all my banking etc through my PC.
I've tried all the other security options and only WEP works with the phone. I suspect its a compatibility problem between the phone and my router (a Netgear WNT834B v2) because both the phone and router work independently but not very well together. There's plenty of posts discussing the Galaxy S connecting to WPA networks so it can do it.
Now, after trying all the other security options. It won't connect again even on WEP. Bummer. It is acting slightly differently in that its trying to acquire an IP address instead of simply not connecting, although it doesn't seem to be able to find one.
I need to try this on a friends network and see if the router or the phone is to blame. I've no idea... but the phone's a bit too touchy for my liking
I had a similar issue, I had to reflash the ROM to get it to work. Backup all your contacts and stuff and then do a full factory resetting. See if that helps, if it doesnt, reflash the ROM. It should work.
Well I've spent the last few days looking into this issue and it's considerably more widespread than I first realised. The problem is that while many people have a wifi connection issue we all seem to have variations on a theme.
As I say in my case the phone will connect and stay connected to an open network but won't touch a secure one. I tried many suggested fixes and nothing's worked so I am now trying a factory reset.
A couple of questions: there appears to be two ways to do this, a factory data reset through the phone menu; and a hard reset using a combination of volume buttons, etc. The hard reset seems to be the deeper of the two.
When you say full factory setting which one did you mean? I am currently data resetting and therefore using the "authorised" Samsung reset
But how long does this process take? My phone has had a black screen and been vibrating every 10 seconds or so for the last hour. It's getting quite hot and there appears to be no end in sight. Has the phone hung or something? If it has how do I get out of this without bricking the phone? It's beginning to concern me because I'll have to do something real soon.
As an aside, in my search for a solution I found something that might help someone people (it didn't work for me). According to the bloke who posted it, the problem for everyone is that the wifi drivers have not been installed properly and if you enter *#*#526#*#* on your keypad it unlocks a service access that reinstalls the wifi driver. I tried it and the phone told me the software was installed successfully but no change.
Waited long enough so pulled the battery out and restarted the phone. I get the startup screen but after that the screen goes black and it vibrates again every ten secs and I can't get in.
Have to try the other reset.....
Things are going from bad to worse..
Have managed to start a full factory reset using the volume, power and home button but it's gone back into the black screen and vibrating every ten seconds.
I know Im going off topic here but Ive now reset the phone, wiped the cache, tried to apply the sd card update (aborted because it can't find the directory) and it always comes back to the black screen and vibrating every ten secs.
Am now trying to reflash the rom. Oden reports that the flash was successful but the phone wont reboot. I tried a couple of times - one with Re-Partion checked and the other unchecked but neither will reboot. What could be causing that? I somehow remember that my firmware was JPH but I could only get hold of JPK. Could that be the cause?
I seem to have solved all the issues at last. Thought it was going to be a bit over my head for a spell.
Once I discovered that the only way I was going to get into my phone was by flashing the rom the first problem I came across was I didn't know which firmware my phone was using previously, apart from the fact it was 2.2.1 and from Asia. I guessed wrongly and after "successfully" flashing the phone it wouldn't reboot. I then noticed that there were only three variations of the 2.2.1 firmware for my region. The second one I tried went a little further than the first but I got an error message about the SD card. The third one installed no problem.
So I instantly checked the wifi signal and the phone connected to the secured network. And stays connected - so far about an hour and a half.
It's amazing how the phone deteriorated the way it did. Hope it doesn't do it again.
Thanks for any help/suggestions

[Q] Can't get Gear Live to connect / stay connected

So I've got a new Samsung Gear Live from the Play Store. I'm attempting to pair the device to a Nexus 5 running stock 4.4.4.
When I turn on the Gear Live I'm prompted with selecting a language. I choose English US. Then i'm taken to the "Install Android Wear on your phone" Screen
At first this screen would show me the text "Gear Live 4AFV" (or something along those lines). However 9/10 (after rebooting or resetting the watch) it will simply show me "Gear Live" no 4 digit name.
Without the 4 digits showing the phone will not detect the bluetooth device to connect. On the off chance that it does show up and the phone is able to detect the watch, the pairing process can either work, or stall leaving both devices sitting at a "wait a moment while pairing" screen that never ends.
Lastly, if everything works and i'm able to pair the watch and phone. it will randomly disconnect and nothing I do will make it reconnect to one another.
Other things to note. Bluetooth has no issues on my phone with any other device.
I've reset the watch numerous times,
I've uninstalled the Android Wear app as well as any other watchfaces or launchers.
I've factory reset the phone.
Suffice it to say i'm almost certain there is a problem with the watch, the question is has anyone else experience this or anything similar with a Reset hasn't fixed the problem and is there possibly a solution to this problem that isn't a replacement.
Google has offered to replace the watch but I want to ensure I"m not missing something here.
thanks for any assistance in advance.

I have the same connection issue but not until I updated it to Android version 5.0 that I started to get connection issues and the gear live was constantly doing a sync loop and it would not stay connected or send SMS messages.

No "Pair" code during setup

Anyone know what could cause the LGWR to not show a pair code during setup? Because of this, the watch is pretty much junk at this point.
I've reset it to factory settings over and over again and I still get the same results. I'm going to assume it's a bad bluetooth module which sucks but I figured I'd ask on here if anyone might have suggestions before throwing it on ebay as parts. (or the trash can if nobody buys it)

Had same problem ... a quick new installation of the Android Wear app on my mobile and a reboot of both watch and mobile fixed it .... CouldnĀ“t connect the watch after a reset! Tried to reboot/reset watch and mobile many times w/o succsess ... had to do a fresh installation of the AW app then it worked ....
Hope that helps ....
I've tried that repeatedly and even tried flashing different versions of android wear and still no dice. I've contacted LG and that will be my only option aside from eBay it looks like.

Well try this (I had the same problem and find a solution not very orthodox but it works). If you have a tablet or other phone pair with him. Now with the watch paired with other phone/tablet, search in the watch Bluetooth definitions the phone that you really want to connect! This will give the code to the phone! Now, reset the watch and try to pair with the wanted phone!
Give a try... It works with me! Several times!
With Wear app? If watch was paired with another phone, then hard reset will help. Also, that code on picture is strange to me. Mine is with some numbers and letters...

That's the problem is it's not generating a pair code....it's blank! The first time I paired it, it had a pair code but now it doesn't. I have reset it more times that I can could trying to get it to pair to my phone, my tablet, my wifes phone, my kids' kindle fires....nothing works because none of them see the watch.
I sent it to LG to repair under warranty so we'll see what happens from them.
Had same problem just 2 hours ago again. About a dozen reboots and resets on both watch and phone and no pair code ... Deleted the wear app from phone, fresh installation from play store ... and it worked again? .... Sorry that i can't be more of a help than this even i know you tried it allready ...

Hey, I appreciate people still commenting in case anyone else might have this problem and their suggestions might help someone. For me, I uninstalled the app, tried it on other phones and tablets, I even reinstalled a new version of android on my phone just to have a clean slate and still nothing. I tried installing numerous versions of android on the watch and it always did the same thing....no pair code on that screen I posted a picture of.
When I contacted LG they said it sounded like a bad bluetooth module and I sent it off yesterday to be repaired by them so hopefully they get it repaired without trouble.
Same problem here. No solution so far.

I sent the stupid thing in and they "worked" on it and replaced the charging port on it and sent it back.....of course since I told them it was the bluetooth module and it wouldn't pair with any device then fixing the charging port obviously didn't fix it. I've emailed them again but they haven't responded. Idiots!
Sorry to hear that. So they didnt fix it?
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Free mobile app
No, they didn't fix it. I did a live chat with one of the people at LG yesterday and he's putting me in for another repair so I'll be sending it off tomorrow again. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
same for me. the only thing that help me is to send it to lg in korea for fix under warrenty.
try to put the watch in the refrigirator for 10 min. and try again . it will show the 4 digit code and you will be able to connect but not for long.
It's official.... LG is the worst company to deal with in my experience. I have sent the watch a total of 3 times now and they will haven't fixed it correctly. First time they replaced the charging port, second time they fixed a "diode" and third time, the bluetooth module (supposedly). Still does the same thing..... Sits on the "install android wear" screen and won't do anything else.
I've lost confidence that it'll ever get fixed and I'll probably just sell it on eBay for parts and chalk LG up as a company to never buy anything from again.
Hey, I just got this issue
tried factory reset using watch and bootloader still no good*.
tried connecting using Bluetooth settings on my phone and still no good*.
enabled usb debugging and Bluetooth debugging on watch, then installed wear mini launcher on watch using abd(using cable) , then some magic happened and after i pressed the button on my watch it showed a pair code but not the screen from startup settings, then i tried connect using phone Bluetooth settings app and it connected, still android wear says it's not connected but when i tried again using android wear it finally did connect.
I know it is not a guide to resolve this problem but now my watch is working.
Don't know if this will work only when installing wear mini launcher or any app.
Still hope this will help some peoples.
Now I'm afraid to flash my phone again.
*no good= no pair code
EDIT:
I also enabled everything in the development menu containing bluetooth
I've just got myself a Watch R and am having a problem similar to this. When I try and start the watch, it asks me to pair the watch with my Samsung S7 edge. No problem. It sees the watch and the watch sees the phone. It updates, and syncs however, then it asks me to pair it with my phone which it doesn't see. The watch nor the phone shows itself as knowing that each other exists. I have tried reinstalling Androidwear, restarting the phone and watch several times. I also have an LG Urbane which is registered (although switched off) with androidwear.
HELP!!!!

Help with companion apps

So I got a new toy. A Samsung Gear Live. I've had it for a week and so far really like it. The biggest issue I seem to be having is the companion apps. I don't know why, but they refuse to work. Everytime I try to use one I get an error message to the tune of, " not connected to a device with this application" or "lost connection to phone". This is clearly untrue. I can see that I'm still connected and even the device itself acknowledges it. I just can't figure it out.
I have attempted a power cycle, using the restart function, a hard reboot, even reseting it back to factory. I rebooted my phone, Uninstalled and reinstalled the apps on the phone, and still no luck. I'm at a loss. Anyone who knows what to do on this front would be very welcome.
What are companion apps?
Sent from my SM-N910T3 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Companion apps, are the apps that are activated on your smart watch. Like the dominoes easy order app, or a bank app that let's you check your balances without pulling out your phone.
I did find my problem however. It seems that my gear live was shipped with a dev kit. I had to completely reflash it to stock software to get it to run correctly.
How did you figure out it was a dev kit? Im having similar problems. Thanks.
Fixed the problem resetting the watch and reinstalling the Android wear app. However now in the storange manager its showing three of several apps. How to fix please?
You can find if it has a Dev kit under the settings. Under build I believe. It should be a set of numbers with "dev" somewhere in it. If that's there, it's gonna hold up your regular use of the watch. It caused the apps not to work right or not to show up, etc. I'll see if I can find the link I used before for how I reset the watch to stock firmware.

Nokia 7 Plus TA-1062 - Cannot Cast/No device found when trying to cast

So as the title says, I can't use the cast/screen mirroring feature in phone. I just cannnot connect to any tv
Whenever I try to cast, it doesn't show any devices at all. Null. and using the button from the notification dropdown, it just searches endlessly.
Some notes:
1. No problem with network. No problem with TV. Other phones work just fine, and doesn't take more than a minute to find device.
2. I tried not only on my TV but on other TV's as well with cast feature. My TV is Hisense smart 39", 39A5605.
3. Already did several restarts, disabled active apps (like adguard), still same.
4. My phone is using the latest PIE update (official update but sideloaded)
5. Already tried connecting on the same WiFi network. Still didn't work. Other devices can connect to the TV without the need to connect on the same wifi network.
6. Already tried turning both mobile data and wifi while scanning. still nothing.
7. Already tried disconnecting current wifi connection (set network to 'forget) but left wifi on while scanning. Still no device found.
8. Already tried installing some apps (like Google Home app and other cast app). Nothing.
9. Already went to developer options and turned on 'Wireless Display Certification', but no additional options show up on my cast screen (like listening mode etc). Just plain nothing.
10. There's no three-dot menu on the cast screen that will show 'enable wireless display.' just a search icon on the top right and nothing more.
I really wanted to find a solution, but can't find a specific fix. I hope somebody here will help. Please. Please I'm desparate.
By the way, I know some will say I should do a factory resetting, but please understand if I say no for now. Because if I do, I'll lose a lot of settings and configuration (system-level and app-level), among other hassle it may incur.
Try connecting the TV on the same wifi as your phone and use xcast from playstore. My LG TV is a bit finicky when it comes to connection so xcast helps. But I do have the certification options on the cast screen. Since, you said you sideloaded Pie, if xcast doesn't work, maybe try resetting the device.

Thanks for the kind response. So I tried x-cast (though it uses a different name in the playstore now). Funny thing is, x-cast says it found the tv, which it did, and says it's connected via DLNA. So the phone can actually detect the tv, but why need x-cast? However, TV doesn't show any signs of connections or response. When I also try to play any video inside x-cast app, it's just stuck in loading. (see screenshot). Did I miss any step here?

This is the screen where the TV usually connects. I am sorry but I can't think of any other troubleshooting steps for now.
last night, I did a factory reset. Didn't do anything go. Just caused me a lot of trouble.
