Question how to install twrp and for a custom rom - Motorola Edge 20

Hello, I'm new to this world and I've never done anything like this. I'm thinking of installing a custom rom, could you help me? where do i find twrp for my device? what precautions should i take?

Hi. If your device is the Edge 20, i think there is no TWRP available.
From what i understand, you have to use the own recovery build for the rom you plan to use. LineageOS has his recovery. PixelExperience has his recovery as well.
Start with the lineageos and follow the guide to understand how that work

Hydrogen OS 2.5.1 to Oxygen OS 3.5

Hi everyone,
I literally just got the Chinese version of the oneplus 3T (A3010) and I want to move from Hydrogen OS 2.5.1 to Oxygen OS 3.5 official with OTA. Does anyone have the file or instructions how to do this? I found instructions for the oneplus 3 but not sure with this model. I'm sure any help would help out a lot of people who are gonna ask this question.
Also will this unlock the bootloader? Just curious about it affecting android pay.
Thank you!

Wanna do me a favor and grab a nandroid backup of your rom before you kill it? I actually want h2os
Aside from that, you should theoretically be able to: ("Official" guide https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...oid-efs-backup-and-more.475142/#post-15431571)
Unlock the bootloader
Flash TWRP
Flash dm-verity
Flash OOS 3.5.3 from the ROM page, I have a mirror too (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/zip-flashable-firmware-modem-t3509015) mirror on pg 2.
and you'll be set, you can flash the original recovery if it's available on the OnePlus page as well and relock to go back to full stock just English version
PS: Since there is no stock recovery image available yet, maybe will have to run TWRP temporarily, rip the recovery off and then proceed? I dunno
Thanks for your quick reply! I was hoping more along the lines of the adb Sideload method and keep the bootloader locked for now though. If I go the root method sure I can share the nandroid backup.
PS the rom looks really similar to the oxygen rom, so far it looks like only the launcher is different. I guess this is part of the plan to merge the two.
Well you can try flashing the image straight. It's a stock image anyways so it could work.

Basically what I meant was to do the opposite of what is suggested here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/rom-h2os-2-5-oneplus-3t-released-t3511443 but with the 3.5.3 ROM
Help needed with android pay and OOS clean install
I'm in a similar situation with a chinese bought OnePlus 3G from Lazada.sg that came with Hydrogen OS. I've managed to install TWRP but because I'm completely new, got stuck and instead managed to install OOS 3.5 (now 4.## from the official website) using adb sideload.
I do have 2 questions:
1) My internet connection drops occasionally even though my WiFi is still connected, is that an issue because I might not have installed it correctly? Would a clean flash solve it?
2) I understand android pay is disabled when you unlock bootloader but even after that, will it be possible to wipe the phone clean and do a fresh install of the lastest OOS and the phone will pretty much be like the international version, with android pay re-enabled?
I believe you can use Sultanxda's patch as another way around, but it sounds complicated as hell for a new person, so I'll continue digging around while waiting for a reply.
Thank you, and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Help me get to Pixel Rom from current position please

Hi All
Wondering if one of you would be kind enough to do me a step by step guide to get me from my current position to having Pixel Rom installed?
Current position:
I had Chinese Rom and I unlocked the bootloader. I then followed one set of instructions to install global EU. Upon following the instructions I could not use Magisk at the time as bootlooped. So just flashed the EU Rom which I am currently using. So TWRP and EU Rom but no root. I am now on PFAEUXM. I received an OTA which installed and now I am on version Global 10.2.26. but now I do not have TRWP installed.
I do know a lot has since happened with TWRP since I did this about a month ago and they are more stable and encryption works etc.
Please could anyone do tell me how to get to Pixel Rom from here...Also I'm guessing I'm gonna lose all data or can I still install Magisk at this point and then install TB to save data?
Any help is greatly appreciated...many thanks

Follow the instructions in this post as I made a flashable vendor of global v10.2.9.0 to boot the latest PE : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79693496&postcount=107
I was running the same 10.2.24(10.2.26 would not harm a thing) and twrp 3.3.1-30.
You can flash that twrp if not already on it. Backup all data because you'll loose all. You could install magisk 19.3 and TB before flashing PE to backup - up to you.
Procedure : follow instructions in my post.
Afaik this should work for all.
Let me know if you succeed.
If anything might go wrong or being stuck in fastboot without twrp unable to boot, have the fastboot rom ready to flash with miflash (mind to check the ''clean all'' before flash ) : https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/ or https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/cepheus/ (I'm using the fastboot version v10.2.24 in case of)
That's awesome thank you!
Just to clarify one point..You say back up all data? Do you mean whilst i am in recovery?
Equally if I install TWRP again...say 3.3.1-30 is there any bugs still in the sense that unless you reboot after flashing recovery (or something similar like that) you will lose recovery...or do I just go ahead and install Magisk via flashing? If so do I just reboot afterwards to system or to recovery again?
Many thanks again for taking the time to respond

How to start with a Note 8 from the factory?

I have a Samsung Note 8 released and I want to install Lineage OS 17.1, I know I lose a lot of functionalities but, I love Pure Android. I already have the ROM downloaded, I have installed ROMs several times in other devices but I always made the mistake of not making a backup to the original firmware. This time, I want to. Before installing TWRP Recovery and all the necessary I would like to make a complete backup of the Samsung Firmware and so in case of anything always have it back from the factory.
What is the problem? I do not know with what tools I would have to make the backup, I do it before installing TWRP recovery, I can do it through software using a PC. The truth is, I'm a bit disoriented.
The other part is that after making the copy, where do I start. What Recovery should I install and where can I find the instructions for its installation?
In advance thanks a lot for your response.

Question Custom Recoveries for OnePlus Nord CE 5G - are TWRP or OrangeFox available?

Hi
I just successfully rooted my OnePlus Nord CE 5G, but I didn't use a custom recovery to do it. I still miss the features of custom recoveries, essentially the low-level backups.
I searched the Internet for TWRP and OrangeFox, I like both and have used them on previous devices. However, I couldn't find anything for this phone.
Does anyone know how to get that working on Nord CE? Or if there is any low-risk way of trying random recovery builds in the phone, and be able to re-flash the stock recovery if it goes wrong?
Did you make any progress on this?

None at all. I was waiting for answers here.
I guess that
- nobody really has specific knowledge about this on Nord CE
and
- the people who have generic knowledge about whether it's risky or not to flash random recoveries and recover with stock recoveries... those people aren't reading this thread.
I personally can't try anything risky, I am already relying on this phone as my main professional tool... and personal gadget.

Well, then you have not bricked your phone as I did trying to root it without making a backup first
Good to know, I haven't found a solution yet
Right now orangefox android 11 tree is not released (if yes , i dont know), but twrp has. And already custom twrp compiled for ce but needs development and testing.
Right now I need storage on my personal pc , this weekend i will insert new ssd for development on CE (4. SSD ) . First target to see stable twrp (hope it will be official maybe) and then we can compile some roms kernels etc. But i will compile only gapps inbuild roms .
And second news, trying miui cam port to CE . Hope it will work . OxygenOS cam software is trash for me.
Here is the link to the TWRP thread:

Bricked mine too, but a repair request with 1+ was my way out. Without costs btw.
Doesn't solve the no backup issue ofcourse.

Can you please tell us exactly how you bricked it? Was it by installing the new TWRP available in the thread I linked?
Yes, by flashing incorrect TWRP to device and trying to update afterwards. Ended in booting into crashdump all the time.
Now discovered the a/b slots could have been the issue.

Question how to install lineage OS on Moto Edge 20

I read the lineage documentation for installation, but I got pretty lost.
In the parts of Booting a custom recovery using fastboot and Ensuring all firmware partitions are consistent.
These parts I read and did not understand, and if possible I would like help.
I've already managed to unlock the bootloader and install root on the device via magisk.
If anyone who has already managed to install can help me, thank you.
