[Q] New CyanogenMod Nightly Doubt

Hi,
I happened to notice a new nightly build in CyanogenMod download page after very very long time.
It's updated on 2012-02-26 10:34:19
Name of file: update-cm-7-20120226-NIGHTLY-vivo-signed.zip
Link: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=vivo
Has anyone tried this build ? ( I am flashing it in sometime, will update my observations later today)
From the file name it still seems 2.3 build. But was not able to see any changelog . That's why curious to know
I searched dev section and general but couldn't found anything about this.
So thought of starting a thread.
Any thoughts are welcome
They're saying that those 4 buttons at the bottom are now rotating.
I installed this build and ..
Below are my observations for now.
1) Not able to play music (I mean.. sound is not coming from Phone speakers)
2) The Backlight Icons are not rotating.
3) Camera and the Gallery apps are crashing frequently.
And... As I was using Virtuous Affinity 2.05.0 for some time, I feel like going back again.. where world is more merrier.
Will install this ROM on weekend once again and will play in detail.
Meanwhile, thanks weaselEST for your reply.
I tried this ROM, but
sound is not coming from Phone speakers too
Try the latest build from kaijura: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23230564&postcount=530.

Runny Kit Kat alpha testing

Hi,
I've been using the roms here for sxl for quite a while but haven't had enough posts to post in dev thread. I'm testing the new onejay rom. It seems oretty good so far, with the known issues. I'm having problems with installing apps or downloading things. When restoring apps it says 'sd card is not ready'. When downloading in opera it says 'Download Failed: A memory card is needed for file downloads. Please insert one and try again'
When using filemanager i can see the sdcard and navigate through directories. Maybe an unexpected type path issue?
Also would be good to have wake on volume as my power button is broken.
More feedback as i use it.
SD Card And Battery Fixed
Hi,
I Had The Same Problem When I Downloaded The ALPHA V1.
But The Problem IS Solved In Alpha V2.
Still We Gat Problems Related With
1) Web Browser
2) Camera
3) Some App Issues As You Are Experiencing.
But As Far As I Know. The Developer Is Working Very Hard On It. We Must Appreciate His Work.
I Love SXL And Runny Kit Kat...

I didn't say I didn't. Of course I do and that's why I hope to provide valid feedback during testing. Especially as this phone is not getting the dev love. Also Anders, who i did appreciate, has cracked the ****s and removed all his previous work.
Thanks for the response. It's made me think about cwrm version and i'll check into that.
CWRM
I Am Using CWRM 5.5.
May Be This Can Work....
BUGS I Found
1) Bluetooth : Turns Off Every 10-15 Seconds
2) Browser : Couldn't Connect With Internet By Any Browser Tried Opera, Firefox, Chrome
3) Wallpaper : Many Times Wallpaper Setting Messed Up
4) Location : Couldn't Turned On Afterwards
5) SD Card : Card Is There But We Cannot Use It For Any APP (WhatsApp, Profile Pic, Gallery ETC.)
** May Be Some More BUGS..
update your hboot to .28 it will solve your sdcard your problems.
if you wonder how to update it the answer is in the forum. (little hint: xl multi tool)
and it will be better if you write this in rom thread

Hey mate, I'm having the same issues as you with the kitkat installation. It just keeps bootlooping for me (white htc screen --> few seconds of CM lodaing arrow and then back to white htc screen etc etc). all other roms work well with my device too.
latest cwm and hboot 1.28 with s-off. not sure what the problem is
So i'm doing the beta v2 testing now. Tried v3 but wifi's not working in that. Also on first boot there was some warning about incorrect siminsertion.
Feed back on v2. Very good so far. Wifi doesn't seem to automatically reconnect when going out and back in range.
I find that chrome is a poorly performing browser. Also opera doesn't go as fast. I installed Dolphin browser and it kicks arse.
The dsp manager seems to be missing. Sound in youtube is very low.
Would like to have volume to wake enabled.
Good stuff onejay09, i'm enjoying this. Hopefully the gpl stuff gets sorted and we can go to normal rom thread
Cool there's a stable version to test now. Will do so shortly

Not sure why I have to wait for 10 posts but I would prefer to be posting in the correct dev thread.
For those like me with broken power buttons this ROM can be made for volume wake up by following the instructions in the post linked to by jib_intelli. Download a sqlite db editor and give it root access (I used SQLite Debugger). Then navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db, Once there go into the "System" table then change the command line which probably says something like "select * from SYSTEM"
Change it to "insert into system values(null, 'volume_wake_screen', '1');"
Commit those changes and then reboot. It works, makes the volume wake the phone up.
Chrome is still performing very badly, especially under 3G data.
Opera which normally performs better is not that great under 3G either. Dolphin browser is working better and very fast.
Finally. Last post before I can post in the dev thread.
Last point for the moment. Hangouts as an SMS client is crap. So I've loaded on Chomp SMS. The launcher is so embedded with Google+ Now that I've replaced it with Apex Launcher. The ROM is running nicely and smoothly and I appreciate the work onejay09's put in, but my question is since I've customised everything, what advantage is there in running 4.4 over 4.2?
back to Linaro yet
Just went back from 4.4 v3 to linaro 4.2
4.4 Rom is slower and i´m missing some features (Use Back Button for closing apps, hide apps).
Chrome is bad yet, and I don´t want to use too many browsers.
But, for sure, I´ll give V4 or V5 an 2nd try .
Anyone else with experiences in this rom?
BTW: Just trying to make my 10 posts for coming to developer section - then I´ll ask for this in the right thread
V8 currently updated, nice ROM so far

I am working on version 1.2 at the moment (time permitting).

Have made significant progress - can now get an image in my test app - so now looking to build a version of the AOSP camera from source.

This older version works with this build...
https://mega.co.nz/#!xwJBFQBL!0oyBAMyLxZsJFiZ17ijzpyaK8VpnyvHEDy0ZJZTfm8c
but I tested the newest one downloaded from amazon too, and that versions installs, but is not working (just open and close)
so:
appstore release-9.0003.638.OC_639000310 - not working
appstore release-5.0000.147.OC_635000010 - working
maybe other newer (but not latest) version works too
hope this help you
Very nice:cyclops:
Great work:highfive:
Just a quick update on what's going on:
1. Working Camera
Can now take pictures with the Front and Rear cameras successfully...
1.1 Video Recording (under investigation).
However the video recording mode isn't working properly for the front camera (the picture is stretched in the Y axis) and not working at all for the rear camera (force closes).
2. Fix for the widget picker (done).
3. Working Kindle Reader App (done - interim fix is by installing an older version of Amazon Reader App - Link will be provided with the new release - I still intend on looking into why amazon apps are force closing on the HDX devices).
4. Updated WiFi driver (done).

What kind of changes are you seeing in the WiFi? More stable? I know that others (myself included) have had WiFi issues off and on, so I was curious what all this might have changed/made better. I know there is a bug that causes a crash whenever you enable WiFi after the device has been booted with WiFi disabled. Do you know if this fixes that bug? Also, is this something that could be updated through an apk for us 7" HDX owners?

In my tests here I have a DLINK DIR-655 router, was constantly getting dropouts/disconnects in WIFI connection and have not seen any problems with the new driver. So at least for me on my hdx 8.9" device it's rock solid so far.
Although I cannot explicitly say whether the new driver fixes the wifi reboot bug. I can confirm that whilst I have been testing the new driver this problem doesn't exist for me. It used to happen when I had the stock rom. I have been testing this since I did the first release of Apollo Gapps.
It's not something that can be packaged up as an apk, but I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to create a flashable zip package for TWRP

Unfortunately I can't give you a date, this is the first time I have done any real android ROM development so please bear with me.
Amazon's stock ROM drove me to the point of insanity which in turn drove me to do something about it. I'm very glad I did as I now have a usable tablet which is a lot more functional.
It may take a bit of time but hopefully worth the wait.

A flashable zip would be nice when you can get around to it. I'll have no problem testing it out on my 7" HDX. My WiFi at home has no problems, but I have the constant drop and reconnect issue with my hotspot.
I've fixed the video preview on the front camera.
Will try to tackle the back camera video force closing.
If this one looks like it will drag on the I'll do an interim release.
keyboard?
Hey. Can u extract the amazon keyboard from the stock Rom and create An apk or flashable zip with it? I'm not digging the aosp key board on our 8.9". It seems to take up way more screen real estate and I actually like the look and feel of the amazon one. It has Swype and a better auto correct. Thanks!!!

The stock amazon keyboard will not work in this ROM due to it's dependancy on missing libraries etc.
I am going to release version 1.2 of Apollo Gapps. I'll update the First post to reflect changes and issues remaining. It might take a while because my broadband connection is crap.
While I am doing this the original download link will not be available.

[ROM] CyanogenMod 12 - Unofficial Nightlies [04.01.2015]

CYANOGENMOD 12 UNOFFICIAL NIGHTLIES FOR HTC M8
This is my first ROM post, I have recently started building CyanogenMod 12 from source with no modifications, initially for my own use, but thought that I would share it with the community, I tend to produce a new build daily.
Flash the ROM at your own risk. I accept no responsibility for any damage that may occur as a result of flashing this ROM. That being said I have been using my builds for a couple of weeks without issue.
The device must be unlocked and using a custom recovery, ie TWRP / CWM
You need a ROM zip and optional Gapps. Links to Gapps and ROM are found at the bottom of this post.
Please wipe data / cache if coming from sense or another ROM, other than that wipe is not necessary.

I don't know what's so different between this build of cm12 and the other cm12 builds but this runs better and more stable then any of the other cm12 builds available
Build is up for today, there won't be a build on 25th or 26th....
Yeah I noticed that this rom works more smoothly and stable too, whatever you've done to the rom, its awesome, cheers dev!
Camera issue
Having some camera issues. The 1st picture works, but next ones won't until a lot of time goes by, or if you you switch from camera to video back to camera some times works. I'm running the 12-24 version on the at&t network.

Google camera from play store fixed the issue. Thanks for the ROM and the suggestion.
Merry Christmas...
Build for today is up, I'm not going to keep posting when a build is released, please check the OP to find the latest release.

SD card
Is there a way to sort out the storage issue, because the internal storage memory I have is only 16G and most of the applications can't be moved to the external storage. I guess, this is the most annoying thing.
p.s the rom perform well and so far, I don't have any major issues.
Can anyone tell me how to fix sound distortion ?

Android P 9.0 for s6e+ BETA

To go into deeper detail on the ROM, I used Lineage 16.0 20180901 s6 build modified for the s6 found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...20x-5x-nexusos-9-0-samsung-galaxy-s6-t3843199
It was also based on NexusOS kernel that has been modified, so a big shout out to Team Nexus for the kernel and rom, and to @lukasb06 for porting it to s6.
The original kernel was by Team Nexus for s6 and s6e
Kernel Features;
v2.0: first support Pie on s6e+ and n5
change log:
support N5-s6e+ (ready for daily usage)
bug: BT, GPS, NFC
deep sleep fixed, init.d support, dyninteractive and a lot of kernel code changed.
the kernel can be found at :
https://github.com/slaminger/android_kernel_samsung_exynos7420
**I have made some modifications, added a shim, added code to the init.rc to disable p2p wifi. Moving forward the modifications to the kernel will be done by myself.
Please read and follow the instructions :
New zip uploaded for November. Each month has its own folder
This is not fully functional yet but it is close, no Bluetooth, no NFC. the two buttons next to home don't work yet(a couple of temporary solutions below)
BACK UP YOUR CURRENT ROM! especially efs. Some people have ril issues, I noticed my imei changed. A quick efs restore fixed it and my sim worked again.
The home button can be set to double tap for recent apps and use opera browser for compensation of no back button as they have their own, or download back button from play store to add floating buttons to screen. Some versions have buttons pre installed.
I can get bluetooth not to crash, but it doesn't connect.
Wifi Hotspot not working.
Now that the bad is out of the way.
Install Instructions Below:
The call audio and WiFi works, camera works(lower res for video to 1080), magisk is working but apk requires manual apk install, audio works, headphones, video, gapps, everything I have tried besides the above is OK.
The install is a process, first flash the ROM, then the pie fix, then no NFC, and then flash the boot.
Img and start the ROM. set your WiFi and take a look around, give it a moment to run). After first boot, reboot to twrp and flash gapps. If you do it all at once gapps crash sometimes. Once you have this all set up and good to go then add magisk.
9.0SeptSecurity is a different version from the august security not just in the sense that the security patch is different, but also the august build is N920 where the September build is G920F. One is from a note one from s6. It is possible one might resolve a bug that is in the other for your device, i am honestly not sure. different people report different bugs on the same device. If bluetooth does happen to be in one of the zips it will likely crash a lot. remove it via twrp by mounting system and then going to system/app and delete the bluetooth and bluetoothmidi folders.
The reason for lowering rear camera to 1080p for video is that it gets buggy at the 4k default.
A big thank you to NexusOS and LineageOS for their 9.0 lineage 16.0 s6 ROM which I used as a base to port this to our device!
i would also like to thank @topjohnwu for Magisk.

It's a bit slow for the first little bit while setting up and whatnot, but once you get everything running it works fine. You can use kernel auditor if you find your battery is dying a little too fast.
I am VERY open to suggestions and or help with this, as it is my goal to fix the bugs and have a fully working 9.0 for our device. The buttons are a priority for me.
To briefly summarize: you sacrifice the back button, pages button, and Bluetooth and get 9.0. Everything else works. I've got viper4android going via magisk, the audio fx work. The ROM has a LOUD volume. So if you like music, enjoy. The back button/page has a work around(most apps have a back button), and you can get an app from play store called back button which gives you the home, back and recent button as tiny floating screen icons also, in the meantime. so just bluetooth really. Use modified cam perm boot shim.img
Enjoy
I removed Bluetooth from the ROM intentionally because it crashed constantly and was hard to disable for people unfamiliar with twrp. No NFC.
The camera has been modified to address pipeline errors that caused it to not work in other builds, it is now fully functional up to 1080p video.
The advanced menu seems to be working fine.
Magisk successfully installed with the following modules tested: Viper4Android, Sony Framework, Sony Music, Audio Modification Library, Sys Config Patcher.
SUBSTRATUM DOES NOT WORK ON ANDROID PIE. This is because google does not want us using OMS for custom themes. they disabled it on purpose. i do not believe systemless substratum will be possible moving forward on any device running pie. atleast not at the time being.
**** Solved** see next post** Netflix not currently working, I googled and found many users on pie are having issues.
Superuser works also, but magisk has modules.
More details will be coming.
All gapps 9.0 working on sm-g928
W8, I used the full aroma package and installed everything. However pixel launcher with assistant in the search bar will not work if you install the new Google webview. The built in Google now launcher will work, and I have tried Nova launcher prime. Keep in mind the more gapps you install the slower your device can get. it is best to only install what you need. i installed everything just to see what worked. but i noticed my phone was slower after a while.
The camera is only confirmed working on g928w8 Canadian, g928g, g928f international/american, note 5 N 920variants. Others have reported bugs.
Netflix Netflix-6.13.0_build_29940.apk confirmed working, both cast and watching videos.

Suggestion: if you un-compress the rom(s) and do a search for *camera or camera* does it return any results. I suggest you compare it to a working version and determine what is missing in the system/ system/app and system/priv-app folder(s) once you determine what is missing then just bring those changes over to your folders

Suggestion: if you un-compress the rom(s) and do a search for *camera or camera* does it return any results. @godkingofcanada Hi, I've got same problem with this rom as I had with Oreo rom before. My WiFi MAC Address is 02:00:00:00:00:00 and it doesn't turn on. Have I to do something more than installing rom and all fixes with it ? I can provide logcat if it would do. Also after clean installation there was no bootanimation and no wallpaper. Just black screen and that's all. Hope to see quick reply. Cheers

What variant of s6e+ do you have? And sure let me peek at the logcat, I have never had it boot to black screen, normally the boot only fails if you did not flash the boot.img. the pie kl500.zip fixes the Wi-Fi, the other zip disables NFC, did you flash both ?

It's G928F variant, I don't have phone box with me, so can't check on it. I bought it here in Poland.

Logcat took via built-in SysLog app. Hope there's something

Give me a moment to look, you have the international variant but I don't think there's any hardware differences. I need to verify

Also, the phone is identifying itself as SM-N920X is settings, same this was happening with Oreo ROMs. I'll keep this page refreshed once in a while, I hope that you will find something. I've updated bootloader, but I'm not sure if it changes something. Thanks for fast replies
