LineageOS 13.0 for the Kindle Fire 2 - A slightly less ancient Android ROM for an ancient tablet
Since the original Kindle Fire has already seen Android Marshmallow ROMs, I wanted to put a newer version of Android on my 2nd-gen version. After running into a few issues, I think I have something that's starting to be usable now.
Status
Working:
Sound
USB Connectivity
Accelerometer
SELinux Enforcing
Partially Working:
Display
Visual glitches in some spots (e.g. Browser tabs have a black box in the background and the font on the welcome screen seems slightly glitched).
Auto Rotation
I have seen this break after having the tablet on for a while, but I am not sure what causes it. When it happens, the accelerometer itself still works.
WiFi
Doesn't automatically connect after reboot until either the list of networks is viewed or the tablet is put into standby and woken up.
Chrome
When performing some actions, the app becomes extremely laggy and glitchy with the tabs turning into rectangles.
Downloads don't work, saying "SD Card not found"
Not Working:
No clue if anything fits here at the moment. Items may be added as further testing is done.

How to use?
See this GitHub repository for instructions on how to install TWRP 2.7.0.0. While a fastboot cable is not strictly required, it is strongly recommended to have one (or at least know how to make one) in case something goes wrong. After that, flash the ZIP file like any other custom ROM.
As for the sources, compile them the same way as other LineageOS 13.0 ROMs (the instructions are online somewhere, ask if there are problems setting up the environment or building) using the LineageOS repositories and the local_manifest.xml file in the source code link.

Thanks you. I think i'm the first download on sourceforge lol

hi. thanks a lot for this! I used lineage-13.0-20230412-UNOFFICIAL-otter2.zip and opengapps pico (just to see if it would go)
breathes a little life into the KF2 for me to use as a sometimes media viewer, weather station maybe.
as usual gapps seems to croak these underpowered devices, I'll probably redo and just install the apps I need without loading gapps.
Thanks again, appreciated.
edit after full wipe and reinstall without gapps
A perfectly serviceble rom if you have working ADB or another means of moving files to the device
(for example I havent tried ESFile explorer or another file manager with network capabilities yet.)
Chrome works , I installed chrome106Android6.0, with the noted above inability to save downloads.
MXplayer works
Blockada 4 works
IPTVPro works
livenettv works
Tuya Smart life (IOT home monitoring thing) works, which is the 1st reason I thought to try and get this on Android 6.
making it a very usable little tablet for watching stuff. Reasonably responsive.
Thanks again

Oh fun. Another ROM to test. Looking forward to this. Even though the browser stuff is not working. The app I'm using (Amuse) is showing that animated gifs are working. Once the browser issue is fixed it'll be interesting to see if it still works.
Onejay, I'm loving what you're doing with the development. What differences are there between the evervolv ROM and the CM ROM?
Oh, forgot to mention that the gapps failed install after Evervolv install. I installed the 1-11 gapps kitkat.
Still going. Ringtone not working either.
Another kitkat ! Awesome !
I'll test this ROM soon

The KitKat g_apps from the first post?
All will be fixed in v2
This was just a test release lol
Evervolv is a bit smaller in size and supports older devices
Please report if Bluetooth works in this ROM properly coz I know people were complaining about issues with reconnecting etc in cm.

Same here. Really like the overall implementation though, slight concern about battery life.
Hey, I just wanted to come back and add that I really love this ROM! This is exactly what I have been looking for in terms of UI, but after a few days of using it there are just a few things that I have to mention, especially since I have just installed Lineage with Pie right before this.
Battery life doesn't seem to be so great.
There seems to be a lot more storage used than Lineage. Once I got all my apps installed with Lineage, I was still well under 7gb used, and that was with Substratum and a few themes included. With Dot, I'm at 7.3 and it only takes a few days of reddit for your cache to get so big that you can no longer install updates. I don't know what you guys can cut out, but at the very least it would be nice to be able to uninstall the wallpaper app (I always set mine via Quickpic).
The clock's timer function doesn't work once you've put it in the background. The timer is still going, but no alarm.
I imagine you guys are building a Pie version so none of this will probably get fixed but again, I really love this ROM and I am surprised more people aren't using it. If I had to guess though, it would be the battery and storage. Those are pretty key, so if there is anything you guys can do to fix those I'm sure more people would use this. The UI, the net data display, there are some really nice things built in by default. Keep up the good work!
beatifull rom but video recorder don't works
please update download link!

WaveOS 4.1 - Rasmalai
WaveOS is an android custom ROM based on AOSP, focused on delivering a perfect blend of aesthetics, functionality and performance out of the box. This version (4.X) is based on Android 11. Various optimizations and enhancements have been merged from CAF and upstream AOSP to maximize performance and battery backup, and improve OS functionality. We provide a unique and beautiful user interface out-of-the-box that's inspired by OnePlus' OxygenOS and can be tweaked to your liking. We've also added handy features and customizations that improve user experience and prove to be useful at the end of the day, rather than bloating the ROM with unwanted features and customizations that could cause stability issues. We hope you like it! #NeverBetter

What about random freeze issue?
ProAF
Congratulations!
Can you fix buttons backlight?
Very good rom, thank you.
Everything else is alright so far, but the navigation gesture for back is not working, also navigation buttons cannot be disabled.
Switched to WaveOS
So far so good. Just one problem that I faced on most Android 11 custom ROMs for Mi A1 remains and that is Random Freezing issue. Faced 2-3 times in last 2 days. Long press the power button to restart is the only solution so far.
I just faced the freezing issue. Forced restarted, booted, unlocked the phone, then again boot screen came.
After following all flashing step ,on first restart I am getting password prompt.my previous ROM have pattern lock not pin. Where I am wrong.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
The source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features

- SD Card
- IR Sensor (Install the app "IR Remote" from F-Droid to use it)
- Flip Cover (When you have it attached, it works )
- Everything else than not working
Not working:
- DMB (Probably impossible to fix )

Thank you for checking out the rom, thanks to the developers of original lineageos for d802!
And additionally, thanks HIRU (https://github.com/rlawoehd187), i saw some of his kernel defconfig to fix the sound issue i had.

Update Log
2023/05/03
* RIL fixed
* Amplifier problems fixed. Now it should really work
* Everything should work without a problem from now on
I'm compiling the latest build with proper selinux support and signed. I'll probably upload it in 2-3 hours
Edit: I uploaded the build with permissive because of my lack of selinux knowledge. Selinux can be enabled with a kernel flashing so i'll probably upload a kernel update later. But i'm very busy in these days so i don't know when.

* Camera crash fixed. This also fixed sounds and videos.
(This was a issue with my new source. Old build didn't sufferred from this)
* Camera fixes applied. Can't test because of camera app. (See below)
* Cleaned unused partitions
Camera still has some issues. Like camera app goes missing, and external apps doesn't work right now . I'll try to fix the camera and nfc after this build.

I finally fixed the camera. Don't forget to download and flash!

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
So i have been trying to boot Android 10 for 4 days and... no luck. Kernel crashes without a debug log so i can't debug the problem. Don't expect a new android version for 2 months. I can't continue to development while my only phone is M8s. A second person with M8s could be perfect for development right now. Also i'm aware of some bugs with latest pie rom. I'll try to fix them soon.
Good news. I managed to fix the problem and booted android 11 without a problem (but just booting, thats all). Android 12 is on the way as well. I'll probably release A12 2-3 weeks later.
