[Guide] Recover to stock firmware on Mediapad M3 Lite (8/10) - Huawei Mediapad M3 Guides, News, & Discussion

I've managed to revert from the LineageOS 17 back to stock firmware after a lot of trial and error. I had not been able to find anything on this site detailing this so in the spirit of giving back, here's what I did to revert back to stock firmware. I accomplished this on a BAH-L09.
TWRP must be installed. I did this with twrp_3.3.1-0.img.
Boot into recovery mode.
Grab this firmware: Huawei MediaPad M5 lite BAH-L09 hw ru BAH-L09C170B271CUSTC170D001Firmware7.0.0r1EMUI5.105014LUH [androidhost.ru].zip
Extract the multiple archives inside of the zip file (including the .tar) with 7-Zip until you have the Update.APP file.
Use the Huawei Firmware Update Extractor (HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.5.zip). Drag the Update.APP file into the interface and extract all to a location.
(Note: This just hung at the end but I was able to use the resulting IMG files)
Copy VENDOR.img, SYSTEM.img, BOOT.img, RECOVERY.img to an SD.
In TWRP, install/flash the corresponding IMG files. RECOVERY is vital.
Wipe DALVIK/Cache.
Power off.
Restart again into Recovery, this time it will be EMUI/Huawei's recovery.
Factory Reset/Wipe; Wipe Cache.
Your tablet should now boot into stock firmware.
This is how I managed to get back into stock firmware. I attempted these steps with Huawei MediaPad M5 lite BAH-L09 hw eu BAH-L09C100B270CUSTC100D001 Firmware Android 7.0 EMUI 5.1 05014LSM [androidhost.ru].zip to no avail.
I hope these steps are helpful to anybody who requires the stock firmware. Don't forget that you can effectively unbrick your device this way if you can access fastboot and flash the recovery partition (fastboot flash recovery twrp_3.2.0-0.img).

How to flash rollback through fastboot

EDIT: Hey guys, so since the previous post I have tried numerous things - most notably manually flashing the system, boot and recovery images directly with fastboot. While I was able to do this (using B361 and currently B320) the phone got stuck in a bootloop even though the official recovery successfully did a factory reset and cache wipe. I am fairly certain that if I can get the rollback image to flash I will be able to revert back to stock - but currently this is proving to be difficult. Flashing the rollback image directly with dload fails and I'm currently considering flashing the image through fastboot. Checking the image on firmware extractor tool shows the following:
CRC
CURVER
EFI
RECOVERY
RECOVERY2
VERLIST
VERSION
What extracted image will I be able to flash through fastboot? Thanks for any help in advance
Hey guys,
Firstly I have read through and tried all the usual methods of trying to get back to stock (MM or Nougat) after upgrading to B361. I am currently unable to flash any images through the dload method (not rollback, not nougat, anything). What I've tried flashing (all failed):
L19C185B361 (full)
L19C185B220 (full)
L19C185B210 (full)
L19C185B320 (OTA)
Official rollback image
This is the path I followed:
L19C185B210
MM LOS
L19C185B220
L19C185B320
L19C185B361
(Tried to reflash L19C185B361, failed)
Rollback, failed
TWRP L19C185B220, messed up system partition
Rollback still failed
L19C185B220 still failed
L19C185B361 still failed
Currently running a TWRP flash of L19C185B321, a beta leak image that doesn't work properly
The TWRP running is the Nougat TWRP (MM TWRP not working) leading me to be believe that there is still an official Nougat presence somewhere on the system. I hace an unlocked bootloader, fastboot and adb access but no root. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I've been struggling for over 10 hours now.
Bump - changed the thread question in the hope of getting help

Downgrade P10 Plus from Oreo to Nougat - needs Rollback Firmware

Hello Guys,
It's now possible to downgrade P10 Plus from Oreo to Nougat
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible what happens to your device or if you active some nuclear missiles in the process
Prerequisites:
Oreo Firmware on your P10 Plus
Nougat Firmware for P10 Plus
HWOTA 8 from mankindttw https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-oreo-update-package-t3699522
Rename the files according to this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
Access to fastboot and adb
Downgrade Nougat
A. Put update.zip, update_data_public.zip, and update_all_hw.zip files into HWOTA8 repack directory.
B. Run repack.bat to update zip files.
C. Go through "Flash Update" steps and use repacked zip files.
D. Enter recovery and do factory reset.
Flash Update
A. Use Vol-Dn + USB Cable to boot into fastboot mode.
B. Use Replace_Recovery.bat in HWOTA8 to flash TWRP recovery.
C. Disconnect USB cable, use Vol-Up + Power to boot into TWRP.
D. Create "HWOTA8" directory in MTP sdcard.
E. Put hwota8_update.zip, MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img, and three huawei update package (update.zip, update_data_public.zip, and update_all_hw.zip) files into "HWOTA8" directory.
F. TWRP install sdcard hwota8_update.zip, it will reboot and install update automatically.
Hi!
I got this message when I flash the repacked (L29C432B164) zips with HWOTA8: "Software install failed! - Failed to check the update files. - Please download the package again."
Whats wrong? I've followed these steps, but it failed.
When I put Oreo .311 zips without repacking, but renamed (tutorial) in the HWOTA8 directory on my sdcard and install [hwota8_update.zip] with twrp it installs normal incl. verify BUT there is no change. Everthing is like before.
On my P10 (normal), after a factory reset with .311 it's now on build no. 8.0.0.046(01BN).
I cant downgrade to nougat or update back to .311
What can I do? Any suggestions?
Downgrade work only with rollback firmware like B217

Ok, than I have to wait or is there another way to leave the 8.0.0.046(01BN)?
There is a rollback firmware on firmware finder.

Do I need to install the rollback with firmware finder, manually flashing the zips with twrp or with HWOTA?
Install the rollback firmware via proxy in FF

Can I only use rollback packages? Because this firmware contains only 2 zip files for L29. You personaly tested this way, I never use hwota hopefuly I dont brick my phone

I have done it only with rollback b217 and I think yes you need rollback packages

Source of firmware
may i ask where you got the firmwares
i get the rollback from FF, there is no other rolllback firmware for vtr-l29c636.

Vtr is not vky therefore it's P10 not P10 Plus
Why I cant repack ?
Downgrade Nougat
A. Put update.zip, update_data_public.zip, and update_all_hw.zip files into HWOTA8 repack directory.
B. Run repack.bat to update zip files.
C. Go through "Flash Update" steps and use repacked zip files.
I run "repack.bat" from Windows 7 it says the 7zip.exe are not compactible, any suggestions ?
How the repacked zip files loock like? I have downloaded the C432 Roolback firmware from Firmware Finder, must I repack them to ?

You didnt answer me on my Question
Becouse a lot of user dont understand and get confused I have made a new tutorial for Rollback from Oreo B321 C636 P10 plus, to Nougat VKY-L29 C432 B181 or other region like C185 or C636
BE CARREFULL AND READ THIS - Do exactly like this description and you will not fail
If you read 2 files , dont aske "can I use 3 files" , becouse there is writen 2 files
Also dont aske can I use "this" or "this" becouse you can only use this what is written and than you have no error.
For Rollback from Oreo B321 C636 P10 plus, to Nougat VKY-L29 C432 B181 or other region
like C185 or C636
What you need:
Access to fastboot and adb or Minimal ADB and Fastboot installed on computer( in root C: )
HWOTA8 from mankindttw https://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...ckage-t3699522
Nougat Rollback Firmware for P10 Plus
I used this firmware becouse I have a 432 model:
VKY-L29C432B181 ( its a rollback for C432 on FirmwareFinder ) only 2 zips or
VKY-L29C432B185 ( its a new rollback for C432 on FirmwareFinder will lock bootloader ) only 2 zips
update_full_VKY-L29_hw_eu.zip and update.zip
Extract the downloaded HWOTA8_2017110501.zip to C: on Computer
Now Create "HWOTA8" folder in EXTERNAL sdcard, in this folder put only
from the extracted HWOTA8_2017110501.zip this 1 file:
MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img
also this 2 files from downloaded firmware:
update.zip - dont rename
update_full_VKY-L29_hw_eu.zip - rename to - update_all_hw.zip
for VKY-L09 instead of update_full_VKY-L29_hw_eu.zip you download the update_full_VKY-L09_hw_eu.zip and rename as abow described
and this moded - hwota8_update2.zip ( downloaded here as atached file )
It is moded so you need only 2 firmware files for Rollback and NO need to Run repack.bat to update zip files.
SO LETS GO
ON PHONE Use Vol-Dn + USB Cable to boot into fastboot mode.
flash TWRP8_3.0.3.img > comand: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk TWRP8_3.0.3.img
we use this TWRP becouse it is in HWOTA8 ectracted folder
Boot into TWRP and install from external sdcard hwota8_update2.zip, it will reboot and install update automatically.
After reboot you have Nougat B181 or B185 ( depend what you chose ) on VKY-L29C432
Thats How I did it in 15 minutes
Yes If you have another model not C432 you must download the 2 firmware files for your model region
I'm not responsible for any bricks.
If you fail you didnt follow exatly the tutorial
Reading is the Mother of Knowlege.
Woow Great Thank you

MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img file is fo Mate 9. It is the reason of my hard bricked Mate 9 Pro. It even doesn't support Mate 9 Pro; how can you think that it will fix your case?
Just try rollback otherwise wait for Official release of Oreo.
This worked fine for me,it took just over 10 mins and I'm back on nougat. I'd previously been on stock Oreo (rooted) and treble (I have a p10 plus VKYL29)

Flash EMUI8 firmware from EMUI5 through fastboot?

In the searching for an EMUI5 firmware I have stumbled upon an EMUI8 one that my phone can have installed, I got this from the Firmware Finder:
Code:
Firmware approved for install
Build: PRA-LX3 8.0.0.360(C605)
Also there are other that says FULLOTA-MF-PV, FULLOTA-MF or just FULLOTA, which one should I use?
Now, in Multi-Tool I have an option to "Unbrick" the phone by flashing several images, can I use that to also flash a new firmware, in this case EMUI8? Though I haven't found a boot.img file when I extracted the update.app file. Even if I shouldn't use Multi-Tool can I extract the update file with Huawei Extractor and then flash everything with fastboot commands?
I can't access erecovery because in the past I have flashed something there (that's why I was looking for a EMUI5 firmware, so I could restore the stock recovery), I can only access fastboot&rescue mode, when I tried updating the OS from the phone itself (I had an update that said it includes May 2018 security patches) it rebooted to an error message. I have everything unlocked in this phone.

Rooting the P20 pro: Search for Recovery.img for EMUI 9.0

HI there,
I'm having a hard time to root my p 20 pro running an OpenKirin custom rom and would be grateful for some help.
Some information, about my phone and the build:
P 20 Pro CLT-L09 (C432)
Build number: OpenKirin-AntiEng PD20144.A1 (it is based on AOSPExtended)
Now, my problem is that I can't find a bootimage or a recovery.img for emui 9.0 anywhere on the internet. I apparently need this file to patch it and then install the patched file in fastbootboot mode. But all the links that still exist on various sites aren't working anymore. If someone still has the file I need or knows how to get it, that would be very nice.
Thanks in advance.
Also: The phone has no ramdisk, installing through twrp should not and did not work.
Edit: I figured it out by myself. OpenKirin sugests not to install twrp, and to root by patching the recovery.img of the stock firmware. Now, I did install Twrp and was unable to just install Magisk from there due to no ramdisk on the device. But since I had twrp installed as recovery I could just patch the twrp image and install it with fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk magisk_patched.img.

P8 lite 2017 hard brick unfixable ?

Hello, I've recently installed TWRP on my PRA-LX1, i made a backup of all partitions in case everything goes wrong... and everything went wrong ! I tried to install a custom rom so i formatted all partitions except internal storage, boot, cust and version (all unformattable partitions) . The installation of the custom rom failed so i planned to restore my backup then i realized they've been deleted. my data partition is now only 500MB instead of several gigabytes
Now i want to flash the stock firmware but i can't.
I tried:
- the sd card method but "software installation failed" after a few seconds
- Download the lastest package from Huawei (ERecovery) but "getting package info failed"
- extract the firmware then flash it via fastboot but fastboot doesn't let me flash vendor and product images. twrp too (error:"cannot flash images to file system")
Now my phone is completely stuck
What i can do right now:
- boot into TWRP
- boot into Huawei ERecovery
- boot into fastboot
I think the situation can't get worse. At this point I'll do anything to get back the stock rom even if it's dangerous for the phone. If someone have a full twrp backup of the p8 lite 2017 PRA-LX1 on android 7, please share it
