Question about adb - Zenfone 2 Laser Original Android Development

I have two phones. One is Asus ZenFone Laser 2, second is rooted redmi 4 pro. I want to flash twrp and supersu to Zenfone through redmi 4 pro. But redmi doesn't see Asus. Adb devices list is empty. What should I do and is this even possible? Thanks.

A straight Type C to Type C may not know how to negotiate correctly.
Try using an OTG adapter and an A to C cable.

Transfer files VIA USB while in TWRP without ADB

Hello, I am wondering about transferring files via USB through TWRP.
The way I want to do this is not through ADB, I can't find a way to do it on my Note 4 though, but on my Note 2 it worked perfectly. I owned a Note 2 (n7100) that I had TWRP 2.6.1.0 (I believe, I've sold the phone to a friend already.) but while in TWRP, I could just plug the phone in and it would be detected as a storage device as t0tle (I believe, once again I can not check and do not remember perfectly). My note 4 does not do the same but is detected as SAMSUNG_Android in the USB List of the remove hardware safely area, as well as SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device in the USB List of Device Manager in Windows 10.
Is there anyway to replicate what I was doing with my Note 2 with the Note 4? I'm still able to transfer files with my OTG cable and a Flash Drive but transferring them straight from the PC is a much easier process.
Also I don't know if this makes any difference but when the Note 2 was plugged in, the storage area according to twrp was called "USB_OTG" and that was the storage my computer had access to and I could place roms in there and flash them like that.
My Note 4 is running off of TWRP 3.0.2-0 without a ROM at the moment.
Thank you for your help.

Note 4 will not do this
ADB is easy to push files:
"Adb push (filename) (destination folder)"
I just push everything to /sdcard/

Dex for PC

In a hope we can get the Dex to PC for the Note 8.
Download attached file:
SamsungDeXSetup.exe is the Dex PC App
Can be downloaded from:
https://www.samsung.com/uk/apps/samsung-dex/
Only including it, as it never appeared for me, untill i installed Dex on my phone and connected it to my PC.
Copy: DeXonPC and LinkToWindowsService to system/priv-app
Set permissions and reboot.
When you connect your Phone to the PC, it should come up about Dex and to install it on the PC.
(This is as far as i have gotten, I believe i am missing other files)

Hi can you share MacOS program ?
Can you please give Detailed information
Can you please give some more details about what permissions to set and what about the file "com.sec.android.app.dexonpc_1.0.00.91" ? Where to Place this file ?
Thanks in Advance
Going down this path as well. Everything installed on my phone and windows; windows link works no issue. Dex installed on PC.
Now, when I plug my phone in via USB C, I get a message from Dex: "To start Samsung Dex, connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable."
The windows app itself seems to be looking for a Note 9 / 10 driver, maybe?
Apologies as I won't be of any help, but just wanted to say that this is exactly the thread in note 8 I was looking for after the DeX for Windows announcement.
I will be watching this thread carefully and hopefully we can get this to work on the note 8!
Thanks in advanced everyone
Actually this only works with the Note10 series.
Hope to see this working on the Note8 in the future.
So I guess we are waiting for someone to extract whatever driver or file Dex desktop needs to see from Galaxy Note 10?
I don't think we will ever see this feature for DeX on the Note 8.

I managed to install it but samsung dex pc still couldn't recognize my phone
I installed this on my Windows 10 PC and it doesn't accept the USB connection from my S9+ on my Windows PC.
Can you please elaborate on this method for those of us who are not proficient in technology?
What can I find the system/priv-app folder? And what permissions do I set and where to set them from?
Ive had Linux on Dex working (on my win10 desktop) on my ATT note 8 for a while now. I just installed via the official app, then it worked in terminal mode. But when i plug in a cheap USBC to HDMI +USB3 otg adapter on eBay and soon as i plugged it in, it loaded on TV and worked. You guys talking about something else?
So followers of this thread, any luck in getting the Note 8 to show dex mode while connected to a windows or mac PC?
Has anyone tried to connect after installing the dex computer software and then plugging in the Note 8 to the PC?
We will see this creativity for Note 8 ?
Hi, maybe with the new security update (dec 1) is the dex for pc works with note8?
Thanks!

Question Any way to get DriveDroid working?

Or any alternative bootable USB image mounter. I held onto my old LG V20 for forever and finally upgraded to the Redmi because it was afordable and had what I need. The only thing I'm missing (other than replaceable battery) is the ability to mount bootable USB images so I can run Linux or install Windows from my phone which has been such a huge asset to me in the past. Ultimately I can live without it, but I'm wondering if there's any way to be able to do it.
I have a rooted Redmi Note 10 Pro with LineageOS 18.1 installed. If there's an alternative kernel I can flash that supports the feature I'd love to hear about it!

How To Guide How to start the hardware tests on an ASUS Zenfone 8

How to start the hardware tests on an ASUS Zenfone 8
For testing the hardware of the ASUS Zenfone 8 the hardware test app can be used. The hardware test app is installed by default in the Android from ASUS but there is no Icon to start it .
The "official" method to start the hardware tests on the ASUS Zenfone 8 is :
Start the Calculator App and enter ".12345+=" (or ",12345+=" depending on your country settings).
But it's also possible to start the hardware tests without using the calculator. For this open a shell on the phone (either direct on the phone or via adb) and execute the command:
Code:
am start -n com.asus.atd.smmitest/com.asus.atd.smmitest.main.MAIN
Note that this only works if the Android from ASUS is running on the Zenfone 8.
regards
Bernd
