Question OnePlus Pad. PUBG mobile screen resolution problem - OnePlus Pad

Hi all!
On the OnePlus tablet, the aspect ratio is 7:5, so the resolution is also not standard: 2800 × 2000 pixels...
All this together gives a pixelated / square picture in the lobby and in battle (regardless of the selected graphics quality settings)
Is there any way to actually fix this? There is a strong feeling that the game did not correctly "understand" the screen resolution
Thank you in advance

I am pretty certain that this has nothing to do with the OnePlus Pad so there wont be any settings embedded to change this. It should be an issue/bug with PUBG since it hasn't been configured for the particular aspect ratio of the OnePlus Pad as the device is pretty new. They should be working on a new patch update to fix this issue so make sure to keep the game up to date at all times!

Thanks!

@Deselver Only way to workaround this for now is by changing the resolution of your tablet entirely. The game is optimized for 20:9 or 16:9 aspect ratios. Using 1650x2800 worked for me, YMMV, also this solution requires root.

Incorrect aspect ratio on 1920x1200 display

I realized last night that my 1920x1200 display is scaling the Chromecast 1920x1080 signal to a full 1920x1200 resolution causing the entire display to be stretched vertically.
When hooking up the same display to my PC via the same HDMI port at 1920x1080 resolution, I get a 1:1 pixel mapping with black bars on the top and bottom of the image. Is there something in the image source that specifies whether to stretch or use a 1:1 pixel mapping? I went through all the settings on the monitor and nothing will give me the proper aspect ratio.
Same here, have you found a solution? It sucks!

You sure your TV isn't set to Stretch as opposed to normal?

Have you double checked all scaling options of your display? This user contacted Google to let them know of the same problem:

But was this bug ever fixed? Answer: No!

I just plugged the Chromecast in, and it updated (had been sitting on the shelf for a while). After the update, the same problem is exhibited. I have 2 aspect ratio options in the monitor settings, "Full" and "Fit". Both provide a 16:9 1920x1080p signal stretched to the 16:10 1920x1200 resolution.

The other way around: If you have a 1920x1080 display and want to mirror the display of Android device wich has a 1920x1200 resolution, use this app the app "SecondScreen" (https://www.xda-developers.com/cast-device-second-screen/) to set the resolution to 1920x1080 before casting to the Chromcast.
Its goal: "Second Screen aims at providing you with a way to properly cast your screen so that it looks is best whenever you are showing it off to your friends and family. It does so by allowing for a user selectable resolution and even DPI in order to take full advantage of your TV."

Yeah, that's what it seems I need is a 1:1 pixel mapping. However connected to my computer this monitor will have a letterbox when set to 1920x1080 and the expected letterboxing.
Please note I only tested this with the first gen Chromecast, so maybe this isn't an issue with the second gen units.

I tested the Chromecast2 on a HP 1920x1200 display. Pixels are mapped 1:1 with the right display settings. I don't have a Chromecast1 to check with this display.

Screen resolution - stretching?

I actually realized this since the first day of using the tablet... I noticed that the screen actually got stretched when you set your tablet in landscape mode and squished in while in portrait mode.
I suspect that the OS is running at a wrong native resolution... Does anyone have similar observation?
Yep, me too
I noticed the same issue. Circular icons look especially bad. Funny enough, the tablet on the packaging also has a distorted screen. In Youtube, videos have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. This shouldn't be the case, as 1024x600 is a 16:9 aspect ratio, and videos are typically 16:9.
Code:
adb shell dumpsys display
contains the following output:
Code:
mPhys=PhysicalDisplayInfo{600 x 1024, 59.670002 fps, density 1.0, 177.209 x 171.115 dpi, secure true, appVsyncOffset -5000000, bufferDeadline 22758840}
Yup, installed luna icon pack and looks horrible. Same as letters in Google keyboard.
I was just getting on to post about this very thing. Here is an image comparison I put together showing a screen shot side-by-side with a photo of the screen:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0Z0bpkQXwBFR1djTnJLSGlsTkU/view
According to the images I pulled, the nominal screen resolution is 600x1024, which is also the hardware spec. But the actual image you see is the same aspect ratio as a display with a resolution of 600x1080. This suggests that the display pixels aren't actually square. I tried a couple of resolution changers in the Play Store but they just scale the display without addressing the issue.
I found an old Google Groups post asking about a cheap tablet with non-square pixels, and the answer in 2012 wasn't very encouraging. I wonder if something could be done through an Xposed module?
I lowered the dpi to 150 just to test and same result...

Also, this line from the display dump above similarly seems to indicate non-square pixels:
Code:
density 1.0, 177.209 x 171.115 dpi
Anyone know how to change horizonal and vertical dpi independently?
Apparently the dpi is 160 normally.
You can set it higher and the icons will look less stretched but the dpi seems correct.
Yeah, this is sadly typical in cheap chinese tablets. What really surprises me is that almost nobody talks about this, and most of the people don't even notice it even after pointing it to them
I've also noticed that this screen has what I think is a slow redraw rate (i. e. painting line by line from the top) which cause funky scroll effects, especially in dark backgrounds in portrait. Grab the tablet with the buttons on top and scroll quickly in the Kindle Store and you'll see it
I watched a video on the Fire for the first time, and while this isn't exactly a scientific test, the video did not seem stretched out or distorted to me. I tested with a second video and it too seemed to display with the correct aspect ratio. If so, then that suggests that the display, controller, and drivers are all capable of rendering an image that is not distorted, and that it may be an issue with the rendering of the Android UI.
Up, i would love having a fix for this.
Mine doesnt seem to show these problems? Is it just a some devices problem or am I missing something?

Just got one of the $50 Fire tablets delivered and this is one of the first things I noticed. Look at a circular icon when it's in portrait and when it's in landscape and it's really obvious. I noticed it on the Pinterest icon.
If this really is a hardware issue, I don't suppose there's any way to fix it? If not I'll probably return it and get my money back.

Idk.. I don't really notice it maybe it's just my perspective the seem good to me.
It didn't jump out at me, but yes, the screen is definitely wider than 1024/600. Maybe it is 16:9.
I did notice the weird scrolling. Perhaps it's refreshed in some interlaced fashion?
I've noticed that some people just don't see it. Coincidentally in my case it was the same people that watch 4:3 content stretched in their 16:9 TVs and are happy with it

^^^ This!
The incorrect aspect ratio is really distracting. I hope there's a way to fix it now that custom ROMs are available.
Hey guys! Does anyone else have a problem with scrolling. When I scroll down a page it looks like the left side is scrolling slower than the right. So for example, if you scroll down on a page full of horizontal lines or text, all the text slopes to the right until the page stops. I'm not sure if this is normal because the tablets so cheap or if its just mine?

Please help me with aspect ratio of the display

Hey guys, I am looking to buy this phone. I have one question, what is the aspect ratio of the display with notch being disabled? Someone please answer. Thanks in advance.

I believe it is back to being standard 16:9 or 16:10 with the notch disabled. Out of curiosity, why is the aspect ratio an issue?

After seeing many videos on youtube, I believe it is 18:9.
Aspect ratio is always an issue. I watch movies on my smartphone, so I need to know how immersive is the video watching experience. Thanks anyway.
No worries, videos will be shown correctly without the notch even if you don't disable it. You won't face with any issues about that.

Android 9.0 added support for the notch, and many apps have been quick to release updates perfecting it, Google's YouTube of course was one of the first. When you disable the notch in the settings, you get the full standard viewable area. With the notch enabled, you can pinch out to zoom which will fill every corner of the screen with very minimal peripheral loss. Everything I mentioned is with the nav bar disabled (fullscreen display mode). The end result is an experience not much different than with a "standard" phone.

[Question] Pixel 5 screen resolution change fix?

Hi guys,
I used to use this method with mostly all of my devices in the past: LG G3, Galaxy S5, Amazon Kindle Fire tablets (including 8'' and 10''). All of them work just fine. But not this Pixel5!
Using the "adb shell wm size" command. I changes the screen resolution of my devices down a notch, for example from 1440p to 1080p, or 1080p to 800p and so on. Then I adjust the density accordingly. They all turn out the Ok-ish screen resolution and have a much better GPU performance for gaming.
My current S10 has the native changing resolution from Samsung, So I don't use it for my S10.
But with the Pixel 5, there is a problem. The camera cut - out on the screen become so weird and placed on the off center position, and the Pixel 5 is unusable
I really love to use my pixel 5 at 720p or 900p, and I believe the Adreno 620 (snapdragon 765G) on the Pixel 5 will handle game at the lower resolution much much better.
Does anyone have a fix for this? please help!
Thank you for your reading!
P.S: OMG, this was my bad for posting the thread into the wrong sub-forum. It was on the other tab of my web-browser. Thank you very much for moving it to the right place, Moderator!!
Why are you not changing the resolution in the settings like you do on the Samsung? A quick search suggest the Pixel 5 has such an option. You're best doing it the official way to guarantee everything will work correctly.
Because you're changing the resolution and DPI through what is basically a developer option, I think whatever is handling the camera cutout (An app? The WM? Android?) is not updating its position and that causes it to be misplaced. Therefore, I dont think you find a simple fix for this. Sorry.

You must be mistaken the Pixel 5 with other phones, since we don't have the option for such a changing the resolution in the settings.
If you mean the display size? It's just a density change, not the resolution.
Thank you for your contribution anyway!
Hi, have you sovled the problem? I encountered a similar condition.

General Adreno™ 610 GPU @1114 MHz Render Screen Resolution upto 1080x2263 not 1080x2400 as Xiaomi Advertised

Install Open GLES CAP viewer apk and check the current Render Screen Resolution you will find it's not 1080x2400 it's 1080x2263.
Whats the point having a 1080x2400 AMOLED panel if Xiaomi limits it GPU Screen Render Resolution to 1080x2263
It Doesn't make much different though but still though you paid the money for 1080x2400 AMOLED panel
Screen shots will override the resolution to 1080x2400 because of default system screen size value even though it's 1080x2263 rendering in background
is this troll post ? the screen corner is rounded . There is no point rendering something it cant display ?

I don't understand your point, even if you say that they are not rendering the same as the screen dimensions, it does not mean that that is not the resolution of the screen.
Let me explain, if you have a 1080x2400 screen, where the measurements are generally for screens with straight edges (and the screens are like that), if they render at 1080x2037 it is to avoid making software adjustments that can cause visual bugs and display problems. .
If you told me that they render at 1280x720, believe me that would be something that nobody would let go of, but this thread doesn't make any sense

uhh! live in your own world keep your explaination to yourself and check other phones with rounded corners...you would know what am i talking about ?
I understand what are you trying to say, but that thing with rounded corners is true because if you didnt have physicaly these pixels there, is no point to render it, but on the other side it can be about power saving because if the screen is rendered in lower resolution, the load on gpu is lower. And there is last posiple option why this like that, because miui have overlays for hiding camera, navigation bar etc.... so the devs can set it up when these overlays are enabled the screen change resolution.
And after all if you want to prove something use more apps some apps can report something diffrent
here is my "report" from shell
and another theory that I tried and works is that your app reports window size of that app not whole system
here is foto when is rendering 1080x2400
and here is photo where is rendering 1080x2263
Side by Side comparison
so no point to argue about that, screen is 1080x2400, phone rendering 1080x2400, so this "mystery" is solved
