[APP] AA Notification Forwarder - Android Auto General

AA Notification Forwarder is a companion app for Android Auto to allow any apps notifications to be shown on the cars screen.
Android Auto shows only notifications from messaging apps - but what if you want to get notified about mails and similar stuff? This is where this app comes to the rescue!
Notifications by configured apps are re-sent by AA Notification Forwarder and displayed on your cars screen.
Requirements
Android 11 or higher
Android Auto (duh!)
Download
https://github.com/ztNFny/AANotificationForwarder/releases
InstallationOn Android 13 sideloaded apps are not able to get notification access by default. Your options:
Use apps like King Installer that pretend the app was installed from Play Store
Sideload and manually enable restricted settings (workflow might be different on non-stock Androids):
Sideload the app
Try to enable notification access and get a "Restricted Setting" dialog
Go to Settings - Apps - See all apps, find AA Notification Forwarder and select it
In the overflow menu (3 dots in upper right corner) select Allow restricted settings
Enabling notification access should now work.
Support
It's mostly a "for-me"-project, but I'll try to support a bit here

love to give it a try but i can not seem to find the download link whn i click on the link above it takes me github which then says to go to releases but do not see an apk to download there
Please advise and thank you

Thank you very much.
I have one question: why is Android 11 necessary?

Made the download link in this post point right to the releases page. But you can't miss it there, not sure what the problem is?

That's how i compiled it. Didn't test whether all the APIs are available on lower levels as I created it for me and I don't need lower than 11. Maybe it works also on lower versions if you change the sdk level - I simply didn't bother to check.

Thank you for the explanation.

how to enable FULL-auto update play store apps, including manually-updated apps?

i've been searching around for answers. there are a lot of questions similar to mine, yet no one conclusive and simple answer.
i want to achieve two things :
1. for those with auto updates, i want them to just install directly without me having to click update at all.
2. for those that require manual update, why can't they install automatically even though i've already checked "enable auto updates"? I want these to be automatically available too.
some might say i would want to review the changes before updating it. for my case, i don't really case - i prefer to stick to the latest version, even if there's bugs/new quirks etc.
thanks!
Tick "allow automatic updating" for all the installed apps in palystore
And then go to playstore settings>auto update apps
hi,
somehow it doesn't work for certain apps even if i check auto-update. for instance, ASTRO file manager always gets updated manually instead of auto.
any idea what's happening?
Apps require a manual upgrade if their permissions change so requiring hitting accept is security related. (At least this is my understanding, feel free to correct me)
i guess thats correct.. i have seen that the apps mainly comes up as manual updates are when more permissions are added..

there is another app-specific option for disabling auto update. It means, even when auto updates are enabled, they will ask for permission! This helps not updating big games! To check that, go to the app on play store, hit the menu (hardware touch), check if Auto update is ticked! :good:

Yes that's correct. The manuel update is needed for new permissions and for the apps you have install through a explorer

MobileIron app issue / solution

I use the MobileIron app for my work email and calendar. I've seen other people have the same issue with that app failing on the Note 7 as I did. I discovered why, in case you have the same issue.
I was getting the following error "Your company has set up a work profile. To continue using [email protected], please use the badged version installed on this device." Then It would disabled the app.
The issue is that you have activated Secure Folder, which is Knox controlled. That prevents MobileIron from working. Go into your Secure Folder settings and uninstall Secure Folder. You will now be able to run the MobileIron app.
I hope that helps.

This is absolutely correct. Secure Folder causes the issue.
Hello all,
I am trying to use [email protected] in MI Redmi Note 3, I am getting the following error "Your company has set up a work profile. To continue using [email protected], please use the badged version installed on this device." Then It would disabled the app.
could anyone please help me, how to solve this issue.
it looks similar to Samsung Note 7, but there is no secured folder in MI Redmi Note 3.
I am also facing the same problem. Any solutions?

Hello, have you found a solution? Can share?
There is no solution. Even resetting the phone did not work.
MobileIron is the WORST app ever made. See its rating on Play Store.
I purchased Samsung 8 with much ho ha and ditched iPhone 8 for the same but this issue has made me handicapped.. considering I am not able to use my office emails now
Disable your secure folder. That's what is preventing mobile iron. I'm using Mobile Iron on my Note 8 just fine, but I didn't setup the secure folder. Lessons learned from my Note 7.
i have te same problem on the Mate 10 Pro. I didn't see any secure folder..
Who can help me??
@sjorsvandam @rile1564
This is an open bug with MobileIron with no fix as of yet, but there are a few workarounds:
Galaxy S8/Note8: Disable "Dual Messenger" (Settings -> Advanced Features -> Dual Messenger -> Uncheck All). Additionally, you might also have to disable Secure Folder.
XiaoMi: Disable "Second Space" and "Dual App"
Mate 10 Pro: Disable "App Twin" (Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> App Twin -> Disable All)
If all else fails, try sideloading [email protected] 9.4 from APKPure.

Hi YandereSan, thanks for your help! I have the same issue with a Nubia Z17S, a beautiful phone, but cannot install MobileIron due to the "badged version" error.
See already this topic that I started, where nobody could help me at that moment: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nubia-z17/help/nubia-z17s-encommon-v1-02-phone-t3711145.
About your options about the other phones, that is why I have looked around in my phone for:
- "dual apps", and there is a functionality called "dual instance", however I do not use it and it seems I cannot "disable" it? Any clue how to do that? I cannot find it in system apps either.
- "secure folers", I cannot find anything like that. I see a system app called "virtualboxservice", but disabling seems not to resolve my issue. Also no other system apps found.
About side-loading the APK from APKPURE, how does that work, as I cannot root my phone / install TWRP? I tried just to install the APK, but no luck.
- do you have an idea how to get the APK side-loaded and bypassing the "badged version" error from Mobile Iron?
Thanks a million!!!!

Mmm.. that dual instance is definitely causing your issue. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "I tried just to install the APK, but no luck." ?
Your phone does not need to be rooted to install APKs. However, you have to make sure that you uninstall the existing version of MobileIron before attempting this.
1. Using your device, download this version of MobileIron.
2. Go to Settings -> Security, and enable "Unknown Sources".
3. Once the download is finished, tap on it inside your notification settings to install it.
4. Go back to Settings -> Security, and disable "Unknown Sources".
5. Open MobileIron and attempt to register.
If you successfully register, you can go ahead and update MobileIron through the Play Store as you normally would.

Thanks for your reply!! I tried exactly what you proposed, already the first time, but no luck.
Also with this version, I still get the same error of the "badged version" if I open the app ... Too bad .
But what is surprising: after installation of this version (but no "open" yet) I could set mobileiron as the device administrator. But after that, still the same error.
Do you have any further suggestions for me? Maybe some other more early version?
I am really needing this app to work! Again thanks for your help!

Thanks, but again the same error. Are there any other versions I could try? Up to now all the same error.
Should I focus more on disabling the dual instance feature? I have gone through all system apps, but cannot find the service to be switched off / disabled. Any clue to find the solution here?
Thanks again!!

Sorry about the delay. I did some poking around with grep inside the ComboRom mod by @pesa1234 - I think the dual instance feature actually lives inside ZMiniLauncher5 APK.
See if you can disable ZMiniLauncher5. Before you do that, you should install Nova Launcher so that you have something to fall back on.
If disable is greyed out:
1. Install Nova Launcher - reboot - set it as your default launcher.
2. Set up MobileIron right up to the point before it fails.
3. Press the home button to hide MobileIron.
4. Go into settings -> apps -> force stop ZMiniLauncher5.
5. Quickly tap the multi-window button, switch back to MobileIron, and try to continue with the setup.
If this doesn't work.. I'm afraid your only option would be to root your device. I know it probably sounds ridiculous, but welcome to the world of MobileIron - it has really gone to **** as of late. Their engineering team takes ages to fix rather serious issues.

Hi YandereSan, first of all really thanks for all your efforts you are willing to put into this, great! And you don't need to apologize for the delay, it is just great you try to help me out!
Although your deep research, I tried the above steps you mentioned, however still no big success, here is why:
- I cannot find the ZMiniLauncher5 exactly in the apps list, also not within the system apps. The ROM you mentioned is for the Z11, and I have a Z17S.
- I can only find system apps like "key chaine clone", "mini launcher", "nubiaLauncher", "nubiaShare", "virtualBoxService", these I have tried to "forced stop".
- I tried your above steps exactly, with all system apps I mentioned above. Every time a fresh install, enabled MobileIron as "device administrator" after install.
- Then disabled the apps, tried to continue installation by opening M.I. but, every time I still get the "badged version" error.
You mention that the last option now would be to root the phone, but I don't understand ... rooting would be detected by MobileIron so that it won't install?
Last idea from my side: is there a LOG file that MobileIron makes if it shows the "badged version" error, so that I can see more on where I have to look?
Also there is no way of reporting this error to MobileIron, so that they can make a case out of it to help me out? I tried to email them but no answer.
Thanks again for your help ...

Dang.. that's unfortunate. I think the launcher service restarts too fast. Hard to say.
As far as logs and reporting - MobileIron is aware of this problem, however they made that claim last year and thus far posted no updates. That's what I meant by MobileIron hell. :/
Good news.. I managed to edit the MobileIron APK and remove that obnoxious check. I highlighted the code I deleted:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

However, I had to sign the application with debug keys, so you will not be able to update MobileIron via Play Store. This is probably the best I can do for you.
Also, make sure you install MobileIron once, then uninstall it again from the Play Store before you install this. MobileIron does something wonky when that badged version error comes up, and it hides (disables) the client.
Also, keep in mind: I don't know how MobileIron will react to you using an edited client. I tested this with my Samsung / Dual Messenger, and I got past the splash screen. I did not attempt to register.

Hi, well first of all thanks for all the work you did, whoaa that is some deep searching and fixing there, great ! And the first good news, I was able to install the app and can now go beyond the first error screen!
I am now at the screen where I need to enter my PIN from the company, I requested one this morning and waiting for the mail to arrive with my new PIN for installation.
By the way, I saw in play-store that it recognises Mobile-Iron to be installed already, so I guess it will update if a new version is available, don't you think?
I keep you posted on this! And ... can I buy you a beer somewhere? You really deserve it for all the work!
And, if this works, you may have solved a reall BIG issue for 1000's of users that face the same issue!
Thanks again,
Roy.

Recent File Manager update (hating Alcatel right now)

Idol 4 6055u hidden update last week and File Manager is now like a 'Clean Master' clone with all the clean-your-phone and boost-your-phone notifications spam. And since there's no way to root it the app is not removable.
Anyone had any luck stabbing this one to death?
Sucks right? Mentioned it in a thread I made a few weeks back:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-4s/help/alcatel-phone-t3634870
If possible, uninstalling updates or disabling the app should revert the app to its pre-spam state. If not, disabling the apps and using a less invasive file manager app is an option.
Alternatively a factory reset will return all system apps to their pre-spammy state if I recall correctly. From there, you can just avoid updating that individual app.

Unfortunately you can't disable the app, even though it appears you can under dev options (tried that, it just updates itself in the background again). Have tried uninstalling (updates) but it updates itself again and the spam reappears. It also places a perma-notification (can't slide off) at the top of the notifications.
BUT: The latest update to File Manager allows you to turn off notifications. Problem solved.
NOTE: You do have to give permissions for storage before you can get into the settings that allow turning off notifications/shortcuts.
This is well-known problem, ads presents in all latest preinstalled Acatel's apps updates: File Manager, Sound Recorder, Weather, Launcher and others. All of them puts notifications with spam-news and in some cases tries to change default homepage of Google Chrome browser. To prevent this need to do the following things:
1. Uninstall all updates of these apps to revert it to stock-state.
2. Deny auto update of these apps in Google Play.
3. Deny auto update of system apps in standart Update application.

Several of Alcatel's Apps updates throught Google Play and other via Updates app. For example, sound recorder updates via Google Play. If it's already updated - just remove updates and Google Play app for Sound Recorder and forbid / deny future updates. In 'Updates' need to forbid updates of system apps too. I already done all of this steps for each preinstalled app which tries to update - all fine. There is no any unwanted push notifications.
Rip ._. I hate this phone so much.
They are pathetic. Updating all apps and adding ads to them.

Thanks for the tips and detailed info @DeckerSU. I had begun to prepare to unlock, root, and flash a custom ROM due to this adware and push notification nonsense. Up until the recent app updates, I had truly enjoyed the clean, stock android UI experience on my idol3 ... now I can relax again, the aggravation of those push notifications is gone!

It may be worse than you think!
It's bad enough for a SYSTEM app to be serving up potentially malicious advertising that could Pwn your device, but it ventures deep into dark waters if that SYSTEM app has the Facebook "Graph" API inside of it that could allow a developer (or in this case your Chinese phone manufacturer) to use your Facebook access token to pillage through your Facebook account and look through your photos, tags, pages visited, URL's, or even create Facebook posts or messages on your behalf!
Sound crazy?
Take a look at the Facebook "Graph" developer site for yourself:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/using-graph-api/
And if someone was familiar with some open source tools that could allow them to look inside an Android app:
https://github.com/iBotPeaches/Apktool
https://github.com/pxb1988/dex2jar
https://github.com/sreenivasmula/JDGUI
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
That person might look to see if the app has the Facebook Graph API inside of it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrdcom.filemanager&hl=en
Any one have a custom rom? Like Lineage or CM or AOSP any other one except the crapy stock rom?
Not good enough!
I no longer trust ANYTHING that is installed on my Alcatel device after the recent adware/spyware "upgrades"!
I installed TWRP and the (unofficial) Lineage ROM until I get a different phone all together.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/id...ficial-lineageos-14-1-idol36045x-5-5-t3615700
I will NEVER purchase another Alcatel device as long as I live and I will advise all my friends and family and anyone else that will listen to avoid Alcatel as well.
I also suggest that anyone with a stock Alcatel device not to use any "widgets" that create shortcuts that may use your access tokens for Facebook and/or Twitter until we know what is going on.
The Facebook Graph API on a native app has a greater access level than a web application and the token(s) don't expire for 60 days and can be extended.
I advise people to avoid logging in to apps or websites with their social media and/or Google credentials and to change your passwords and set up 2 factor authentication and remove any apps associated with your social media accounts.

Can you help me to unlock a sharp phone?
I have the modem.elf file.
Following the advice on this thread, I was able to revert to the old versions of these apps back in October, and my phone stayed usable from then until about 2 weeks ago. Suddenly, the "updates" installed themselves (as part of a "critical system update" that I was notified my phone needed, and now, I don't have the option to uninstall the updates (or rather, it uninstalls to another spammy, bloatware version, not to the factory original).
Any ideas on what I can do now? Or is it time to throw this phone in the trash, and get one from a company that doesn't do this?

You have got to be kidding me!
Now Alcatel and McAfee are tricking users into installing their adware/spyware through the use of fake "critical update" patches?
I think it is high time to do a complete breakdown/inspection of the app and do a full public disclosure.
It isn't surprising that Alcatel would infect a users phone with adware/spyware but for a so-called "security" company like McAfee to be involved is both frightening and disturbing.

Question Cant disable system applications.

Trying to see if there is a way to disable a system app in coloros 11 on my find X3
Want to disable chrome as it's bugging another app out but the disable option is greyed out.
Also tried the disabled apps menu in dev settings but doesn't seem to do anything.
Any other options I can attempt here?

Hello @uzumakinaruto69
just a small suggestion. You might receive more replies if you switch your system language to English prior to taking screenshots. However, and don't get me wrong it's not against the forum rules to provide non-English screenshots; I just want you to get the best support you deserve.
Stay safe and stay healthy!

Sorry I'm trying to think about it next time

Question Fully disable assistant?

I just got my Pixel 5a yesterday and immediately am annoyed by the Google stuff. I installed the Nova launcher but still get thrown back to the Pixel launcher or tossed into various assistant screens all over the place. Is there any way to truly turn this stuff off via normal settings? I don't really want to root or get custom firmware, but I despise these forced integrations between everything.
I don't want anything launching of its own volition or because I accidentally touch or look at the phone. I just want the apps to launch when I click them, the 3-button navigation to let me switch between tasks, and a simple homescreen to hold widgets and shortcuts I choose. The first reason I don't want the Pixel launcher is because it doesn't' let me remove the stupid search bar, but I also don't want any of the other hidden and implicit triggers that tie into the assistant.
I also find it annoying that the home button opens some search if I touch it while already on the home screen. Is this coming from the assistant too? I didn't yet find any settings in Nova to adjust the buttons.
I'm with you here. Installed Nova for the exact same reason as you. I do this next thing on all my Android phones: GO to settings > Apps & notifications > see all apps > Google = DISABLE... o some phones it can be uninstalled!
Personally I also disable "Google Play Services for AR" but that is personal choice. I also disable a number of other apps that I know I do not want/use.
I suppose I could use ADB to try and uninstall them, but once they're disabled that is usually good enough. The first one though, Google being disabled, "should" remedy all your issues. I too use the three button navigation and hate ALL assistants!
There's a program on here called 'adpappcontrol' that's great for removing anything you want via ADB.
It's basically just a gui for the command line program. It's worked great for me on at least three phones.

I could have sworn I already did that, but just checked and it is enabled. Has yours stayed off? Would the automatic Google Play app updates cause this to be reenabled?
I also now found the Nova setting Gestures -> Home Button that was causing this other search to appear if I press the home button when already on the home screen. Setting it to None with the checkbox still set for Only on main home page seems to give me what I want there...

Mine has stayed disabled. I can't speak to whether auto updates may have reenabled it. I always turn auto updates off. I like to see what is being updated on my phone.
