home made car kit incl. the possibilty for gps? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Accessories

Hi everybody!
Well, it has good and bad effects to life in a poorer country. I bought a xda over ebay and imported it into Hungary where I work and life. I tried to get some kind of a holder for my car....none.
I tried to get a car cit (handsfree kit with no cable for the headset etc, which even offers the possibilty to connect a gps) ...none
I tried to find someone to build me one....full hit!
If anyone can get hold of the plans + maybe some parts, I will have the guy who does the moldering for realy low money. As far as I know there are plans flying arround how to do it but I could not get hold of them. Further I was also not able to get some parts I think one needs for this.
If we take this all and make a circle out of this there is a cheap working solution, my only trouble is I have trpoubles with the parts and plans.
If you can help me we could produce this cheap and everyone can participate.
What do you guzs think about this?
Maybe I look right now as a cut off, being new here but I am not. I run a company here for several years. Being a newbie in something does not mean to have bad ideas.
Flame me, throw things on me or give me bad names, I dont mind. But I believe there more people out there which would like this question solved but do not have the abillities to do it themselves.

Hi hungarian,
I've the same problems but I've found two companies who build special cables or where you can buy plugs with or without open cables. I think the best one is in Germany:
http://www.gpskabel.de/shop/
I've wrote him today and wait for an answer.
or here:
http://www.haid-services.de/pd-1265521139.htm?categoryId=65
and in USA:

Please email to me directly to [email protected] for further communication. B.T.W. I was born in East Germany and we will never forget the year 1989 ;-)

eBay Rom Upgrade

Has anyone tried the ROM upgrade on eBay?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9743879700
I was just wondering the legitimacy of it...
Well... as there is no legitimate way of upgrading an XDAIIs to WM2005 - it can't be legit.
He has probably downloaded the rom images from here..... what people will do for a quick buck!
I emailed a seller of a similar ebay item the following :-
Can you please verify that Bluetooth headsets do not disconnect when the device is in standby. I have tried other versions of WM5 and they all suffer this problem.

This was the response :-
well, we have not tested this particular problem, therefore not in better position to claim or answer your question.

Seems they know what they are doing
Tim
dammm... those who work hard for those Roms so that the BA can enjoy the WM5 OS but they don't charge a single penny for it, and here comes those who only have to download their HARD work and make money out of it... would really love to purchase that product but not continue with it so i can give him a negative feedback, but my ebay rep sure is not worth having to be tarnished bec of this selfish fool.
If you look at the screenshots, the phonedialer screen looks diffrent to what TuMa 1.3 does. Maybe it just uses a diffrent ROM to that?
You never know, these people might of genuinely never heard of this forum and used one of the more technical HTC/PDA sites out there to make there own ROM. There not charging very much at all for the ROM, which if they did make their own ROM proberly just covers the hours they put in developing the ROM and selling you the item. Don't forget Ebay charges fees for every item sold.
Of course, this site relys on donations to keep going, so theres not much diffrence is there?
The thing that does concern me more, is the fact that they havent a clue about the Bluetooth issue. If you get a ROM from this site you will be told exactly what it is and why it is happening, what's being done to fix it, and a free update when it is fixed - hows that for after-nosales?
The phone dialer skins that you see are the Eten dialer skins, they can be downloaded from PaulyA's site at http://www.paulya.com/etenskins.htm
The eBay offer is a fake, fraudulent at best, and not very respectful to those that actually do put in tons of work to get a decent WM5 version out.
Looks fake to me, they are even using screenshots from the Smartphone version of WM5. And if it was real it would cost more than $8, the WM5 upgrade from Dell cost more than that. Nothing but someone trying to make a buck from other's hard work and the ignorance of ebay shoppers.

Can anyone from France sell me this through Ebay??

http://www.kazimogo.com/EN/sneck.php
http://www.rueducommerce.fr/Telephon...duct_id=389168
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360134&page=2
It's from an old post...
I can't find it anywhere, they only sell it in France
I tried to contact the company directly only to receive no answer
This is the only solution for me right now since I'm talking from my Athena in a loud environment and sometimes from the streets...
It would be great if someone from France could buy it and then sell it to me through Ebay... of course with something extra for his time...(if you ask for too much I might get a secretary as well... )
If someone wants to help lets set the price, I need 2 off these (just in case), and let's do it!
If anyone likes the idea he may step in... better deal for the seller....
Thanks in advance!
if you actualize links i can do it for you !

Broke Tilt in half

So one of my friends at work had an att tilt. However his son dropped it out of his pants pocket and the screen popped off. Screen is still in one piece however completly seperated from the tilt mechanism and the ribbon cable is missing. So I told him instead of throwing it away (cause att does not offer insurance) to give it to me and I'd see what I can do (Gonna unlock it and use it as an upgrade for my wing ).
I've read some of the hardware manuals and can already see I'll need parts to fix it. But I have no ideas what ones. Or if it's even worth it to fix. I mean its basically a free tilt minus any repair costs. Any help?

Check thi site, there is a manual how to dismantle kaiser. Could be helpful:
http://michael-channon.spaces.live....smantling+%2f+Disassembling+Guides+HTC%2fETEN
Thank you, however thats actually the repair manual I looked at. However while looking for parts I have yet to find the ribbon cable that connects to the display.
This is basically what I have except the ribbon cable is missing. And alot of steps missing to get it this way.

OMG, that had to hurt.
Yeah, kid was playing basketball and fell out of his pocket. I guess the kid has broke 4 phones this month... curve, tilt, 2 pantec duos. Told my friend to get him a $20 go-phone now lol. And use the savings to get me a tilt
I dont know what kind of damage besides the physical the drop may have caused. Phone was not on at the time so that may have helped it (I hope)

I hope u repair it. Wish u luck.
Without actually looking at it, its hard to say what exactly you need. But you for sure need a new flex cable. Unfortunately that is the hardest part to find. At least here in the US. I usually buy broken phones from people who don't want to pay for a repair. Then I use the parts from them. You can get a new housing easily enough if you need it but the flex cable will be your biggest hurdle.
I suggest trying to find one broken on ebay and using the 2 you have to make one working phone. Even a broken Tilt can run for $200 on ebay though.
Anyone notice that case has already been replaced at some stage as it has a camera hole (not standard for Tilts) a keyboard without the white part and no logo. Perhaps the replacement was weaker than the original one. If the O/P searches the forum here for LCD Screen replacements there's loads of links to different companies supplying parts for Kaiser variants. I have no experience using any of them though so cant suggest which ones are best.
@Planet Neo
Yeah I was thinking that but was hoping it wouldn't come to that. Would suck to spend $200 for parts just to find the motherboard is broke or something to that effect. Was hoping someone knew of a place to buy a new cable or had one to sell. Also was hoping someone with some experience could let me know if they think I'd need a new tilt assembly.
@Flying Kiwi
Lol, I used a picture from kaiser disassembly guide to show what i was referring to. It has the standard tilt case. I'll be taking pictures of what I have as soon as I have the phone in my possession.
Okay I assume that its going to be very hard to get the ribbon and you're going to need housing. I believe that it will be the same as making a new tilt, because the screen is as good as dead without the ribbon so all you could do is get new housing and a new screen and it should rack up about $150-200. Which in my opinion is much easier and faster and better than frustrating on getting a ribbon.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm sure you'll think I'm busting your balls / stalking you but hard to find? Hell no! Expensive, maybe ( $100) but hard to find? I think not. Good job you're not charging people for you expert advice else they'd be wanting refunds....how long did you say you'd been doing this for?
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=tytn+flex&category0=
You need a TYTN II flex. There are many other suppliers and if you go direct they may be a bit cheaper. google is your friend....
To check the board - connect to a windoze computer with a mini USB cable and power up or press the soft reset button to boot it - it should ident and install then try to sync. It should boot fine even with no LCD if it's OK assuming the battery still holds some charge.
A full housing will run you about $60. Some sellers have just front panels for about $40 though I'm unsure if these have the pivot.

Man, MS you really need to get off my nuts. It's getting creepy. I said in my post hard to find at least in the US. And the link you gave was for a seller in China. One more word of advice for the OP, Make sure this part actually works for the AT&T Tilt variant. I had a customer buy a Flex cable for the HTC Herald thinking it would work for the T-Mobile Wing but due to the modified button layout of the Wing it did not fit correctly. Much like this person HERE experienced.

These things are made in Shenzhen so where you think the parts come from?
Stop talking &*%(* and I'll stop correcting your posts Instead of saying something is a fact say it's your opinion. It's not a 'rare' part - and they ship WORLDWIDE. It's not as if he'll get one from a local mom and pop store - it's gonna be mail order wherever you get it from and looking at the seller's feedback is a good judge - all my parts come from China - so why pay a middleman such as yourself extra $ just so it has a US stamp on the package?
Someone needs to act as quality control on your posts and it looks like it's gonna have to be me if you keep posting [email protected]

My original broke a few months ago and I searched online. Found a 5-pack. Sorry, I don't know where I bought them, but at least you know they are out there.
thanks
i have search and search and still but thanks
I lost one and broke one the other day. I called up support in my country (Taiwan) and they carry just hooks in the office for maybe 6 - 7 bucks USD so i would try contacting support.
I think it is a bad design cuz they are easy to lose and its getting a bit loose.
One of many suppliers I found in 5 seconds, searching for "bt8010 earhook":

I've noticed this, too. The socket for the hook is now larger than it used to be so even new hooks are a little loose.
thanks for the
thanks for the lick i think the design of the loop sucks but the ear piece is great i can hear music and do my calls and not be worried of getting wires tangled like the wired ones.the odd think some people ask me if it is 2 bluetooth??. any ways for now i dont see like changing them for something else thanks
first time it broke for me about 2 years ago, I wasnt able to find it anywhere, so I wrote request to jabra customer service and got a pair for free in the mail.
now it's available for better price than from other sellers http://www.shop.jabra.com/jabra/Shop?Dsp=30007&PCR=1:401

have any one experienced this !

you know the only us port in the kaiser where you charge and where you connect it to the pc. when you first buy the kaiser it would be wonderful then couple months later ..it becomeshappy and doesn't work as good. it starts either rocking or the "teeth" inside start to move that will cause problems with connections and charging.
same thing happened to me with my universal so I threw it away ..but I love this kaiser I have what would be another alternate solution ? please I would appreciate your help.
Yes this is fairly common with this phone. Normally service is suggested.
Warranty FTW!
Just be careful when your plugging and unplugging the device. i.e. take it out and put it in straight, not at any angles.
If you search broken miniusb you'll find several threads. One is of mine when it broke. It was charging in the car and dropped and the "male" part of the extusb on the phone cracked.
I went to an At&t service center, the guy looked at it, told me its frequent and handed me a new device.
that's the problem ...I bought it over ebay

oh wow..thanks man!
I was looking all over the place and not near me..
I never thought that at&t might have a technical support department..
but that's wonderful.
I know it's a little expensive but i't worth it when you can't live without your ppc.

PPC-Techs is not AT&T technical support, but I highly recommend them. I have used their screen protectors on my devices since my Ipaq 1900. Their customer serices is excellent.
I just had the mini usb replaced on my Tilt by PPCTechs. HTC wanted over $350 to repair. PPCTech was about $75. Excellent service and high speed.

thank you sooo much guys ...I'm probably going to look for the HTC Universal and send it to those guys too!
