Hi, can someone here send me the OEM_FLASHDRV.dll file from their Trinity so I can patch it to do what's stated in the topic title, cheers.
Patcher complete; download here.
File now signed, redownload
manual DLL included now
If you tell my how I'll gladly do it. I get access denied when I try to copy it via Vista explorer.

you still have to unhide the ExtROM manually, and sadly, I haven't quite worked out certificate deployment, so you need to use Security Configuration Manager to drop the developer certificates onto your device.

So Olipro have you signed the .dll??
yes, I've recently been indulging in the consumption of booze down the local pub, so sorry for the delay; it's done now.
Remember that you still need to provision the developer certificates onto your device yourself.
I'm afraid that the Security Configuration Manager still finds the app "Unsigned".
Any further help would be appreciated.

I'm afraid that i may be a bit on the slow side but i can't make heads or tails out of this process,i've read the Hermes posts and still nothing .
If you find the time please post a step by step guide as to how the app can be signed with a privileged certificate as that seems to be the problem.

no... it's not.
the application just needs to be executed on your device, the DLL that is placed on the device needs to be signed... which I have done.
specifically, it's OEM_FLASHDRV.dll that I signed, and no, you can't view it till it's on your Trinity.
Let me tell you what i did,i ran the Security Configuration Manager, changed the configuration from locked to Security Off then pressed Provision.unhid the EXROM using Hermes_MountALLExTrom,transfered the patch to the PPC and ran it .
I got the message Extrom Patched Resetting..,i reset the device but alas no extrom.

yeah... you need to go to the Device menu to install the developer certificates.
The only things in the "file" menu are, Save connected Device Configuration,Sign File and Check File Signature.
my mistake; the Device menu.
really... couldn't people have the intelligence to actually bother looking for it.
people on this forum have now successfully exceeded the level of stupidity I've experienced on the Hermes section.

try the cab i attached. if that does not work for you, you have one of those devices, that simply won't unlock. plus, looking at your signature, you seem to be using wm6. unlocking and resizing the extrom partition is ONLY possible in wm2003, before you try to access the extrom, you must downgrade first!
I've made another patched ROM: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Blueangel/wm5_test/ba_wm5_patch3.rar
It differs from the previous ROM in the increased disk cache size and FAT write-through mode is turned off. This potentially can cause loss of data, though in my tests everything worked fine. SPB Benchmark test shows the huge increase in file read speed on my device.
After flashing the device you don't need to do hard reset, nor you'll lose any data (except for system clock settings).
mamaich, can you please tell me what software you use to edit the ROM and maybe a link to a tutorial? I'd like to take my knowledge to the next level.
Thank You,
Alex
Currently there are no tools to make custom ROMs as were for WM2003. I use hex editor (HIEW32) and IDA (www.datarescue.com) to find places I need to patch.
Thanks. I don't think I'm going to tackle that at the moment then
mamaich,
Taking the modules from the emulator image is a smart way bcz it shares the same build, but isn't it better to use the modules dumped from the universal?at least they are final.. (so far)
Universal modules I've tested would hang. There may be 2 reasons - they are dumped incorrectly, or they are designed for VGA-screen. Himalaya 1.60 files work, but they crash often. I think that this is a problem in a dumper. It dumps XIP DLLs/EXEs from memory when they are already loaded by OS and their data sections are already initialized. This cannot be fixed.
Images from emulator are dumped with dumprom tool that produces almost correct files.
I've played a bit with Himalaya registry settings and trueffs.dll driver and made a CAB that would unhide "Extended_ROM" folder and make it fully accessible.
Use this CAB at your own risk as it is not heavily tested.
Fatastic - Will try it right now
Hi Mamaich, Great work.. I will try it at ones... I have just one question, all the patch there has been made for the other ROM will they still work with this one
As soon as I have tested the new ROM I will let you know...
Re: Fatastic - Will try it right now
all the old patches should work with this rom too.

The extended rom unlocker works; still unable to install a new splash screen. Does the ext rom need to be bigger?
Edit, how do you hide it again? thanks
Edit2; i hard reset (clear storage) and its no longer showing. Hope there will be an easier way soon. Thanks

You can not hide your ExtROM once you have repartitioned it. Read the WiKi
is it possible to make an already full patched(button fix, camera, bluetooth, etc) rom with all basic programs (such as mms client, stk, backlight, etc)?
i think yes but i'm not able to make it..it will be very usefull for newbies such me..
with this full rom you do not need to post lots of duplicated threads and all will works since the beginning..
yeah i would like that to,
so we only have to install it without patching and so
very good idea!!!!
but now, apart the Wiki, there is a list of all patchs that must be installed?!
'cause I don't have enough time to read alle the pages in WM5 problem resolutions thread
well,
so far, i created a project for a extended rom under wm2005.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_WM5_Extended_ROM
Butt im stuck, it will not install off the rom after a hard reset.
If this would be working we do not have to worry anymore if we forgot or lost our sd card for the neccesary patches.
i think yes
i can make a list but someone has to do that
i think tha the 'default' are:
camera fix
wm5_v3 fix
button fix
midi with album fix
missing system programs (mycpl.rar)
traylauncher
wifi programs
sim manager
and a set of default programs:
pdf reader
xscaler
pocketplus
pocketrar
etc..
I would say no, i'd rather have the choice to install what patches i want. For instance if i dont use MMS or prefer the soft keys of WM5. The way it is now you can configure the device just as you want. Getting a working extended rom you can customise would be my choice. I definitely wouldnt want Pocketplus installed by default on my device.
It has to work first.
So anybody already found a working autorun.exe and config.txt files?
I Tried alot of those two, but still not able to get it working under te extended rom after a hard reset.

Yes i dont have to use it; but if the patches are no longer released separately then i have no choice. If there is a choice of all-in-one rom and non-patched that will be ok. But you have to think of who creates the rom, it may be easier just to maintain one rom version. I guess we have to wait and see..
@pimbo have you tried the autorun from the K-Jam extended rom? May be different from the Universal files. Its here ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/

Not yet, preparing my device now, autorun is 17kb from this one
setup is 104kb, looks common, exept the dates are a bit older.
Manually launching the autorun of files on the extended rom will work, so i guess that i have to do a hardreset again, thats what i going to do later the evening. lol 8)

No luck. wil not automaticly run.
Still need to make the rom visible and run the autorun.exe for the installs.
But this is the nearest solution for now i guess.
So you still need a single cabfile on a sd card to unhide your rom and install all files on there.
If anybody knows the bytes to change in the nbk or nbf files or maybe in the bootstrap, the adaption could be completed and the patches would automaticly install after a hardreset. .
please don't OT
...so
dev can make all in one rom and single patch

i for one would love an all encompassing rom patch. reading through all the duplicate posts and other resolutions is a real hassle for noobs. we see the same questions being asked every 3 days or so and it just creates more clutter for the other noobs to sift through. i figure a lot of those fixes should be included in the next patch of the current wm5 rom anyhow if people rather wait for that to come around.

I'm trying to customize a few Extended ROMs here and I'm running into some stubborn CABs. When installed manually, everything works fine. No warnings, no errors. Just click the CAB, let it do its thing, then click OK.
Put these same ROMs into an Extended ROM and hilarity ensues. Some will work, others will not and I don't know why. Any suggestions on what I might be missing will be greatly appreciated.
Quick question?
Are the CAB's signed, if not are you installing the 'signed' unsign CAB 1st .
Edit: Thinking more about this (and realising that the 1st thing you do is disable signing in your ROM's ) can you provide a little more info about the CAB's (maybe an offending CAB if the content is not private?).
I managed to replicate this issue with a CAB that had a warm reset as part of it's install process (seems to bork the autoexec batch process) and I have had a similar issue with a CAB that just contained some simple OMA in the _setup.xml.

Without wanting to sounds facetious you sign them ;-)
You would use a private key to generate an Authenticode signature for the CAB (and maybe the apps inside if you need to) however you would still need to install the ROOT certificate into the code stores on your device. Or get your app signed by a 3rd party with a certificate that has it's ROOT already on the device (MS's MobileToMarket and things like that take care of this for ISV's that need it).
Once you have the ROOT cert on the device in the correct store signing is trivial, you either use SignTool.exe from many of the MS SDK’s or just use the GUI options if Visual Studio is your poison. All you need is an export of the PKF (Private key) and the password to the certificate.
In enterprises one of the 1st things people often do before giving Windows Mobile devices out to users is to install a ROOT certificate for the enterprise onto the device in both the code and transmission stores. This means from then on you can sign in-house apps and CAB’s and they behave as signed commercial apps and you can use features like internal signed SSL for ActiveSync etc. etc.
Don’t forget you can also do away with a lot of this by installing the HTC signed “Disable Certificates” CAB 1st and then the signatures are not checked on subsequent CAB’s, EXE’s or anything code related for that matter.

most problably you forgot to set some cab file to read-only before saving the extende-rom.check the cabs atrebutes and the config.text file while inside de program that you are using to edit the extended-rom.its not because they are not signed as long you got the cert .cab set to be the first to be installed.also cab files that require user input will not work.this is from experience, as posted above.

Sorry to ping an old thread - flogging to proceed immedietly after...
Being that this is a windows device, isn't there a flag that can be passed when executing the cab - like you can on a windows installer application? Similar to setup.exe -q or whatever you're trying to do. Some flags set the answers to yes, admin mode... you get the picture. Does the cab installer engine allow similar flags to get passed with the cab execution command?
In PPC, it calls wceload.exe to install and uninstall a cab.
As shown in http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms926281.aspx , the only possible argument is to ask or not ask for destination, but no quiet mode.
How can you call wceload.exe manually at ExtROM installation may be a question.

I can't imagine that the application has any problem with wifi. Is your wifi set up correctly? Maybe you have some network issues (no nameserver, or something like that)?

I belive its the custom brarnding done by Orange, They installed PVplayer 2 do the streaming this was optmized for the Orange TV (subscription service)
Orange must have configured the connections so that the streams are done over Wifi rather than GPS.
I have added the connection packages that I think will remove this barnding if you could you also make these into cabs for me.
I am sorry to hijack this thread but i have been trying to convert a package to a cab for installation and so far i have been unsuccessful
I use WinCE cab manager to import the files but how exactly do you find the registraty entries relevant for each package?

I have attached them here. I haven't tested a single one of them, so maybe some of them don't work. Just report back .

Any registry information is stored within the appreciate "rgu" files, which come along with the oem package.
thanks will give them a try now

Hi I have installed them and there were no problems. But they did not solve me issues with the phone using GPRS even though a WiFi connection is available. I used a dummy GPRS connection and streaming over Wifi works.
So some where on the phone Orange must give a preference to use GPRS.
If you could create these cabs that i will attache I will see if this solves the problem.
I did another search on the forum and for bbc iplayer problems and pointed to this thread. the post i did is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3554208&postcount=195
This packages you created seems to have helped indivduals as the views are now 13 but no feedback as yet.
The Pv package I hope to use to remove PVplayer
Again thanks
Ps I have I can extract pacakages create initflashfiles am i far of from creating packages.
Here you go. I had to upload to Rapidshare, as the forum had rejected the archive .
I haven't tested them, just as above .

You don't need any initflashfiles in order to create cab files. initflashfiles are useful when you create oem packages out of cab files .
But I guess these packages won't solve your problems, normally something like that is done with some registry entries.
Why you don't just use an unbranded rom?

Thanks for the information Johnpatcher. I was extracting the rgu file and somehow it was not showing as extracted in the folder because of my folder view settings! duh
i have managed to import the reg file and my application installs successfully but when i am trying to run the application i get the message "The file cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found."
What am i doing wrong?

Either you have done something wrong , or you security policy isn't right, you can adjust it using Advanced Config or HDTweak.

I have checked the security policy and through Advance Config i have disabled the checking certificate notification when installing so no issues there. The problem arises after the cab is installed when i am trying to run the application i get the error message.
