Hello everyone im new to the forum, i have a t mobile vario, i have managed to unlock it curtusy of lokiwiz unlock 0.2a. i have a few questions if someone could help me on
1. on the unlocker software there is a option of CID unlocking, what is this?
2. is there any differences between the different variations of the wizard, 02 mini, tmobile vario, kjam, qtek.... which has the better firmware??
3. can i put either kjam or qtek firmware on my vario?

Speaking as an MDA Vario owner who has reflashed with the k-jam ROM (and now can't go back!) I would say the only benefit of changing ROM is to enable 802.11g network access, which T-Mobile disabled in software.
There appear to be no other benefits. On the downside there are features that come with the Vario that do not work with the k-jam ROM. e.g. the email setup wizard does not work. Hardly a showstopper but an example. There is also an error message on resetting about elatepushservices.exe not found or not signed. Again, it doesn't seem to cause a problem but why klutz your machine up without a good reason to do so? The version numbers of everything that comes with the Vario also seem to be higher than the k-jam ROM, which I'm guessing is a good thing.
Unless you simply must have 802.11g connectivity, as well as 802.11b, my recommendation would be to leave well alone. It will also make warranty support much easier.

I did use the clubimate ftp ROM and my equivalent figures, with the Vario extended ROM remaining, are....

rom date 9/16/05
radio version 01.01.10

so all my version numbers are lower than yours excep the extended ROM, which I saved from my Vario.
I don't recall the Vario ROM being less stable than the k-jam but you need to be very careful what software you install as there is a lot of stuff that is not 100% WM5 compatible. It might install and it might run but it might also crash or destabilise your machine. I have only installed the T-Nobile supplied GPRS monitor, Total Commander, TomTom 5.21 and a couple of GPS utilities and that's it.
As soon as you start throwing in today plugins and other system utilities that are less than 100% WM5 compatible you are asking for trouble, IMHO.

Just check the XDA-Dev. FTP site.
There you can find the Dutch rom which greddy pointed out.

hmmm by the looks of it i might hold out until theres some newer rom updates with significant improvements. at the mo it looks like theres only a few tweeks and i dont wana risk bricking my vario.

maybe they'll release some for the vario???
For us we own an english version of Qtek 9100 in which site we'll find the future ROM Updates?

Thanks, I didn't see that.
A few questions:
1. HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD THE FILE?? I can access the FTP-server, but when I try to download the Rom, the file stops downloading after apx. 20 - 40%, whichafter I even have to reset my router to get the internet working again. I used both the FTP Explorer and the Internet Explorer.
2. Should I also upgrade the Extended Rom? I want to get rid of these ugly, squared, pink and grey T-Mobile phonepad keys, so is this stored in the Extended Rom?
Which Extended Rom should I use? There are more of them, so which one is for use with the Dutch Qtek 9100 Rom?

If you ae comfortable doing this, could you perhaps make a backup of your t-mobile rom. I downgraded to the k-jams rom without doing a backup...silly me, anyway would be grateful if someone would pop a copy on the ftp here.

I also done exactly the same, i didn't have a miniSD card, an i was too eager to upgrade so i couldn't backup my rom.
Now i wanna go back to the T-Mobile rom but no one has one on the FTP. would you be able to upload yours?

i dont mind creating a back up of my rom, if someone can point me to how i can do this.
i to want to get rid of the rubbish pink phone pad, it looks ugly
jay - are you using ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/ or ftp://xda-developers.com/ ? it should work, unless your connection keeps dropping?
Need to refresh my memory on the back up procedure... get back to you on that later.
Regarding the pink key pad, a bit of registry hacking should sort that out
If you have a registry editor, follow the below, worked fine on Compact II but never got to test it on the vario before the downgrade

Properties
Dword- Enabled
Value - 0 (default HTC skin - cool blue)
if you change the value to 1 it then displays the T-mobile's wonderful pink and grey pad.
Save the changes and they do a soft reset

Yes, i've tried in the FTP site. But in there the roms are backed up from other devices and not directly from Qtek support. First, I would like know if there is problem or there are any diferrences between roms backed up from devices and the other from official support.
In the end, i'm asking if there is a link for official Qtek support where we can find the future rom updates.
There is a nice pdf guide on backing up your ROM here you need to do procedure 'r2sd all' as opposed to 'd2s' as suggested as that guide was for the magician.

I own a T-Mobile MDA Vario, too. It is already flashed with a WWE-KJam-ROM. Now I want to know, if there is a possibility to flash a German ROM to it. Or if there is a newer version of the KJam.

Isn´t it possible, that one of them reads out the original ROM and set´s it to the ftp so that others, that want a German ROM can flash this?

Sorry for being a total n00b but I am not clear on some things here. I have searched the forums but can't really find a clear answer. I have a qtek 9100 from TMobile. It is running windows mobile 5.0 NL version. I see that there is a NL and an ENG version in this post. Can I just install the ENG version on my phone with out any problems? Does that mean that Windows mobile will be in English after updating the firmware (which is what I would like)? Do I have to change any settings to be able to use the TMobile network or is that all stored on my SIM card?

I posted the NEW Russian 2.18 test rom last night. This morning when I check myqtek.com, that test rom has been pulled off their server. It's in the upload folder.
Some please check that test rom out and see if a2dp is on there.

Hmmm I get the message Invalid Vendor ID...the new ROM can't be loaded on my phone apparently
Ianman you need to CID unlock your phone before you can install it. However, I'll just note you may find the lokiwiz doesn't CID unlock if you have a relatively new handset, there's an issue in the later HTC units (see lokiwiz thread)

i was looking for the english ROM for the T MOBILE VArio and could not find it. Is this the same as having an english operating system? My mobile is in German and i find it very tough to naviagte around and hence wondering if you guys have seen an English operating system or a plug in that converts the existing into an english system?
I have a T-mobile MDA3 - with Windows mobile 5 at the moment, I would like to update, but I need to get a german version for this.
Where can I get it?

I got a unlock T-mobile MDA Vario with a WM5 i wanted to upgrade it to WM6 in Dutch version, with the newest Rom etc etc..
This is the Extended Image version that i use now: 2.21.2.108
Where can i find the Dutch T-mobile version WM6 ?

On this forum... enter on a thread called "a little tutorial" download everything you need ... Button ROM, wizard Love, lokywiz, your Rom in DUTCH and so important... an original ROM like tmo 2.26 or Tmo 3.08 and the radio of your wish ok?
You have a G3 wizard so the process will be in that thread... if you dont have or understand something ask there or here, dont do anything untill you get all the info and tools ok? read a lot and ask so much more...
to Dutch I recomend you the New Wizard ROM wm6.1 by GULLUM diamond with throttlelauncher in 13 languajes... we will keep in touch see you soon.

Since monday the 15th of june I'm a proud owner of a HTC TP2 smartphone.
This smartphone comes with the dutch version of windows mobile 6.1 professional and it is already sim unlocked (all HTC phones are sim unlocked).
I want to dump the rom+spl+p anything else to help the community to produce a Hard-SPL, cooked roms etc.
I admire the work that Pof has been doing during these years for the xda community and I want to help a bit. I know quite a lot of dumping, flashing, unlocking etc (just by reading the posts and tutorials on xda-dev).
I want to know how many members (including Pof) are interested in rom dump of a HTC TP2 Dutch.
Let me know by posting in the thread or by PM.
ROM dumps are always welcome!
other members with a branded device may want the dump when hardspl is launched....
and chefs might want a dump to look at the OEM goodies inside to incorperate in there next (NL) cooked ROM...
so just dump it!!

A good friend of mine has bought the T-mobile MDA Vario V (Rebranded TP2).
I will offer the community tomorrow a rom dump of a dutch HTC TP2 and a dutch T-mobile MDA Vario V.
I hope that by comparing the two dumps, that Olipro/Pof can make a sim unlocker and a Hard-SPL.

I have extracted the rom from both TP2 and MDA Vario V (T-mobile rebranded TP2).
Both roms are in Dutch, so no WWE.
I have attached also both hardware information and storage map of both devices.

I am very interested to dump the original TP2 onto my VarioV. I am annoid about the Tmobile web 'n walk integration in the Opera browser. I have installed a clean Opera but after a restart it still does the Web 'n Walk part. Therefor I cant wait till one of you guys found a way to dump the rom onto a Vario5.
