Tailored belt clip case for Ameo without keyboard - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo Accessories

I believed lots of people are looking for a belt clip case for your U1000/Ameo, and not much can be found in the market.
After buying Lowepro SlipLock™ Pouch 20, still find that it is not very professional to carry around with business pants, so decided to get a tailor to do a custom case.
This is the 1st trial, and more design will be coming for him (a new business for him), got 3 different fabric, leather alike (PVC as shown), computer slipcase 1 and computer slipcase 2.
As for the belt clip, it has a pass through loop and magnet loop (so no need to remove your belt).
As for the flap cover, there are 2 different kind (magnet & Velcro).
The final product should have a complete flip to cover rather than open top.
Now, he is giving me for free, as I think he found a new business, going to sell the case for S$35, which I think it is okay, as the workmanship is good and best of all, none in the market for now.

more picture.
All pictures are with my Dopod U1000 in it, real slim & fitting !

where can i buy this case?
it is very beatiful

This is EXACTLY what I am looking for. Why does nobody sell anything like this ?

If he can start taking orders now he's got a winner! Has he got a website? Does he want one? Hosted free? Taking Paypal Order? I'll sort it all out for him ;-)

I am still waiting for his 2nd trial (complete top flip and other material).
This is only available in Singaproe, as he is just a local Chinese old tailor, so no website, no Paypal, only got Singapore local number and only speak Chinese and Cantonese

looks good.. just the rear clip portion looks cheap,,, but gd idea.... wat abt any bigger to contain keyboard.

Ah well, not to worry - I'm sure there will be similar offerings over here soon enough.

Just visited him again, still do not have the 2nd design, as he is real busy with his real business (PDA case is a new business).
He just shown me a new fabric, real sheep leather, very thin & soft. I do not think it can hold as belt clip case, but can make it into a slipcase, just a protective case over the Ameo in case of scratches

That's still a good idea. I for one wouldn't be attaching it to my belt - the case would be purely for protection whilst on my travels.

2nd prototype
He just called up, managed to rush out the 2nd prototype, using notebook slipcase material, complete top flip and using velcro.
This 2nd prototype is so much better, using better material (softer, thicker, elastic, better protection) and slightly bigger, so easier to take in/out when compare to the former (too tight fitting)
P/S : dont have my DC with me, so it is taken by my Ameo

i´d like more the first
the first is TOTAL

Excellent, it would be a good idea to place some kind of thin hard material under the leather on the front in order to protect the screen whilst in transit (stitched between two layers of material I mean).

If possible, I recommend a "cut-out" with plastic covering for the status window of the Athena when the phone is closed. Only Piel Frama's is reported to have this once it's in production.

Dear Johnny Kok ,
I am pleased with this first pvc designed look , however for S$35 price is so so , but the metal magnetic button at the belt loop is a bit thick .
The second fabric case looked less attractive , price should be cheaper i think , but the belt loop area should be better , no protuding metal button .
I am from Malaysia , is there a way to buy from you either one of these ? Thanks and regards , pls reply me .

Almost perfect belt clip case: Krusell 75134

I got this at SF Planet for $13+shipping. It is well-made. The Athena is a snug fit width-wise but the sides are elastic. The case looks very professional and like it is made for the Athena. My only complaints are it could be a little wider and I would prefer a magnetic closure instead of Velcro.
Here are some pics:

So you have to remove from the case to use?

Yes, unless you have x-ray vision
I wish someone would make a belt clip case with holes for the screen and buttons so we could use the Athena without taking it out. The screen could face outward (away from the body) and be protected with a flip cover.
I filled out the form on Vaja's web site with this suggestion. They should make an Athena case which has a flip cover like their iPhone cases.
I carry my device bare without keyboard, and this looks like an excellent design. The price looks good too.
It looks just a little little too tight. Is it easy to put the unit in and out? I also prefer to leave the pouch hanging on my waist while the unit is removed for use. The current design seems to be such that the whole pouch with the device comes off the waist.
Is there any option to leave the secured on the waist when the device is removed? I think it is a hassle, not knowing what to do and where to place the empty pouch when the device is being used.
Search ebay for "HTC X7500 leather" and/or "HTC X7501 Leather".
There's plenty of great cases.
looks nice, but no belt clip:
http://cgi.ebay.com/FITFOR-HTC-ADVA...ryZ15036QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
This one has belt clip:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Genuine-Lea...ryZ15036QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Many people here have had experience with the 2nd case you list. The clip breaks in 1-2 days, and on mine the post (that the clip attaches to) came unglued on the 3rd day. If I hadn't noticed it before I wore it again, the whole thing would have dropped to the ground as the clip & post stayed on my belt. Mine went right in the trash because trying to get a refund would have eaten up the refund since they require that you send the case back. If I got a replacement case I would have immediately sold it (not trusting to use it anymore), costing money to list it and I probably would have had to undercut the other cases listed to ensure a sale, costing money again...
Do not buy it! Many others here will agree. You'll save money by buying a decent (but more expensive) case first, that will last you for years. Forget about the cheap ebay cases.
How do you guys keep the buttons from getting pressed in the tight cases?
I have the screen/lock on but after a call somes in the buttons still get pressed.
any ideas?

The case could be a little wider but it is elastic on the sides and expands to fit. I put my X7501 in one corner first (slightly diagonally) and push it to one side to get the other corner started. Once both corners are in it is not difficult to push all the way in. There is plenty of room to grasp the top corners of the unit to pull it out.
The pouch stays on my waist (attached to belt) when I am using the unit. I have to squeeze the belt clip to take the pouch off clip and all or push down on the release button on the clip to take the pouch off but leave the clip on my belt.
This is not a "quick draw" case. One does have to be deliberate putting the Athena in. Taking it out is easier, especially when the case stays on the belt.
Also, the corners of the Athena are not protected if the case is dropped with the Athena inside. I look at this case as a good balance between cost and functionality. My quest for the "perfect" case continues...
Yes, indeed there is no pouch that meets my requirements yet.
Another of my requirement is that when I sir down with the pouch on my front hip, it should not cause discomfort to my body. This means it can't be made of hard leather, and the belt loop should be made of elastic material.
Got it.
Pro:
- excellent quality;
- fits the Athena almost to the millimeter;
- holds miniSD cards quite nicely;
- belt-clip much better, IMHO, than previous "rotary" ones. Besides, it can be removed without having the pod-thing it attaches to sticking out and taking up room for nothing.
Cons:
- big and bulky;
- has to be "worked" a bit to close once the Athena's inside. Now ok but after about two-weeks of "massaging";
All in all a great "long-trip" type case IMHO, but no good for day to day use, especially if you don't care about the keyboard all that much.
Krusell 75134 not available any longer?
Toyfreak,
Thanks for posting. I like the case, but the problem is that Krusell does not make it any longer. Even their web site does not list the 75134 model. Do you remember for what device it was originally listed. Like IPAQ model XX or so? Then I could try to find a similar Krusell model. I like the tight fit. Searched a lot and even went to a couple stores, I find them all too bulky.
Thanks a lot.

Krusell discontinued the 75134 a long time ago but SF Planet had some left when I bought mine. Try the link in post #1 of this thread and see if they still have them.
EDIT: I just tried the link and the page is gone... I'm still looking for the perfect case and I will share any finds I make. It might be worth a call anyway.
toyfreak,
Thanks for checking. SFplanet did not have it any longer on their web but I will give them a call to find out what other case might have a similar size. Would it be too much to ask if you can take the inside measurements of the case and post it?
Thanks

Apx. 130x88x28mm inside but the elastic on the sides allows it to expand to fit the width of the Athena (see pictures in first post)

Thank you very much. With the measurements I can continue my hunt. I will post any findings under Athena accessories.
You need search no farther than http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=351
This is the only case I know of designed for the Advantage that has a secure belt clip. There is another case available there, Series 270, that is slightly smaller to hold the device without the HTC case on it.
As far as I am concerned, there is nothing else available to match it.

This doesn't look near as nice as the Nutshell case(if you're not familair, read in this forum, there's a thread somewhere with links). The clip on the nutshell case is pretty much immune to wearing out. Downside is it can cost from $60 to over $100 and can take up to 2 weeks to ship. Worth every penny and minute in my book.

Is this eBay case any good?

Just wondering if anyone's tried this case. It would be nice to know about the quality and fitting. I'm also very curious if that belt clip will last.
Thanks in advance!

hello,
I've not tried this case but I've had several with the plastic belt clip
and if you have a job that involves sitting a lot they can be fragile,
or if you do lots of manual work. I find the sewn belt loops flatter
and stronger. the krussel case is hard to beat
jay
Never used it, but i'm certain you'll soon be disappointed if you buy that case. IMO, a good case is an absolute must. You don't want your Athena falling off your hip when getting out of the car do you? This always happened with my old axim case with a plastic clip. Nutshell guarantees their case, including the steel clip or leather loop (whichever you get), for two years. Expensive though, but worth every penny to protect my athena.

Actually, It'll probably end up in my pocket. I like those cases where you don't have to take them off to use the phone. That's why I was eyeballing this one.

Just watch the screen. I once put my universal in a case in my trousers pocket, you guessed it the screen cracked! cost £100 to fix it. lord knows how much the athena's screen would cost, more than the machine is worth I guess.
I have one, the 2nd week the belt clip brike getting in the car. Not to mention the phone slipped right out from it twice, with my foot action as a cushion (broke a piece of th tab on the battery door) and the 2nd time was last week at the gas station. The cases are designed with crappy materials but with a bit of mod I saved mine from going into the garbage. I had to cut the back open and put a piece of plastic in it for more support against it flopping. I used a hot air gun to soften the side holders and bend them in slightly for a more snugged fit. At the end of all that the next morning I broke the plastic tab on the case going into the car. Now I still have the case using but only because I've not finished mounting the belt clip on the OEM case as yet, as i've already already cut a caller display into the case and used that strip to make a leather flap to close it. Once I find a steardy belt clip I will post pictures of the mod. If I can't find one strong enough that will not break I will go for a standard clip mounted back and stitched on for a better look.
Back to this clip, I would recommend getting it if you can do a little bit of mod on your own, but BE WARNED if you don't mod the rails on it, your liable to damage your device, when (i said when, because eventually it will) slide out.
See what I said about that ebay case, and what you should buy instead on my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344605
Bottom line, run FAR, far away from that ebay case.
Tuff-as-Nuts now has an option to get a slightly larger Athena case that will accomodate the Athena+case (thanks to my having one special ordered one). You can now have it either way.

Ebay Trash
I had the ebay case for one week before the clip broke. It is made of the cheapest, thinnest plastic I have ever seen. I have a Verizon phone from my employer that came with a clip similar to this one. Even though the Verizon phone is about 80% lighter than the Advantage, the clip that came with it has plastic three times thicker. After the Ebay clip broke, I started using the case with my Verizon clip. It took another week for the post on the case to break.
It is amazing how shoddy this design is. If you can get it on ebay for $3 (including shipping) I would get it, but only to use as a case. It will not survive on your belt.

I bought this case recently (based on the similar device dimensions) and was quite pleased with it. I need a belt clip so I can always have both hands free. It adds a bit of bulk to the device but feels quite secure on the belt. I thought the case would be a tight-fit but the athena (+ keybd) feels just slightly loose in it which is good. I just push the edges upwards to eject. Worth the price I think.

Best case for HD2

Hello,
just received the case for my HD2 from pdair, in fact this one:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000801&products_id=24581
It's not my first purchase via pdair. If anyone looks for a classy case, built of fine and soft leather and manufactured on the millimeter, simply go for this case !
This is no advertisement, I neither get paid by pdair nor am I affiliated with them in any way (unfortunately...).
Already purchased the case for the Touch HD from them.
Actually the HD2 also fits in there and this is what I did until the new case came today.
I'd been a bit concerned therefore if they wouldn't offer the same case in disguise for two different device models.
Well they didn't
I have always preferred "horizontal pouch type" cases, they are most practical to wear, that's at least my experience.
Only downside was:
If you live in Europe, like I do, its quite some distance to Hong Kong and I had to wait for the good to arrive (unfortunately air cargo space over Christmas time becomes additionally scarce).
Let's hope they will have some distribution point in the EU region some time.
As far as I could see there is no retailer in Europe offering their cases.
In case someone knows one, pls post here.

I ordered the same pouch. I am using a brando black silicon skin on my hd2 and I hope that with the elastic sides of the pouch I can put my phone with the silicon skin on in the pouch. This is simply impossible with other pouches. (I've bought already 2 pouches) I will keep you informed when I receive my pouch. I think that many others will be interested in a pouch in which they can put their phone with a silicon skin on.

Oops.
I am sure this will be problematic as I said:
The pdair case is no "generic case", as offered by several manufacturers (already was "cheated" myself by such resellers, sent back these cases of course), it really fits on the millimeter.
Yes, there is a rubberized, flexible strap on each side of the case, but as the HD2 itself is very thin, these straps are as well.
So if your rubber cover (or case) is very, very thin, the HD2 might fit in the pdair case with it.
Yes, just post your findings for others.
If it won't fit in and you can't use it or pdair won't take it back (never had to return anything to them), put it on ebay and post to others they can get a cheap good case there for the HD2 ;-)

ghl10000
I had a look on the website, and the cases look very professional. I have ordered one for my new HTC HD2, which arrives tomorrow.
Cheers!

I've just ordered it, from the UK! Its from a company on Ebay for £15 with free delivery. As ghl10000, I've had some of their products before and l'm using my HD PDair case with my HD2, but decided to take the plunge once I found this on Ebay (and used my Ebay Plus Points voucher ) Had one for my N95 as well and have never been happier. Very high quality and perfect fit.

I've received today my pouch and it fits ... tight, but it fits. I've to use some force to close the pouch but I think it will fit better after some time. This is for me the first pouch which fits my hd2 with invisible shield and silicon case. I don't think a better protection is possible. I am to test it out the next days. The pouch itself is well made of soft leather. The only concern I have are the elastic sides of the pouch, but I am not to much concerned about this because I usualy buy a new phone every year. (one is already speaking of the hd3 for the end of the year?)
edit : I've removed the invissible shield on the screen because it is to soft for this pouch - it gives an 'impression' of the innerside skin of the pouch (where the magnet is). I've reinstalled an anti-glare screenprotector which gives no problems with this pouch. The invisible shield was also too reflective in the sun.
i got my alu case from pdair a few days ago (ebay 19 Eur) and have the following problem: it looks like that the elastic band which should protect the hd2 is a little bit too thick!!!
the effect is, that when i close the case, the lid pushed on the corners and a couple of contacts are executed (most in the corners) and the hd2 begins to react - looks like an animated film, but i can´t laugh!
they will ship me a new one (package was prized out with originated for htc/leo hd2)...

this is hand made case
PDAIR is good Product but for me I choose Krusell rather then PDAIR.
I used PDair for my Imate 9502 and Krusell for HTC HD and now I'm looking for Krusell for my new HTC HD2
Guys -- This is my first post, I hope I'm in the right place. I was just visiting this forum to see what info might exist regarding the PDair Aluminium Metal Cases. I recently purchased one (Product Code: 1BHTH2B51) for my HTC HD2 and am extremely dissatsfied with it. I just want to add my comments in support of others who have previously also expressed dissatisfaction with this case. The problem is specifically the design of the case which permits the cover (with or without the plastic screen protector) to touch the perimeter of the telephone screen setting off various applications randomly (see attached video demonstration). The problem makes the telephone completely unusable while the cover is closed. I have emailed PDair to express my disatisfaction with the case design and their response has been evasive, to say the least. My honest advice would be to to steer well clear of the PDair Aluminium Metal Cases for the HTC HD2 until they are redesigned.

It might be helpful to anyone considering the PDair metal cases as opposed to the leather ones.
PDair Horizontal Vs Vertical
I'm swithering as to whither i should go for a vertical or horizontal PDair pouch for the HD2. I've previously had a horizontal pouch for older phones but the size of the HD2 concerns me, i'm thinking that the HD2 might sit less awkwardly if vertical. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

The best case would obviously be the Piel Frama iMagnum HTC HD2 case, its prolly also the most expensive one. Down side is the long delivery time, i am currently allready waiting for 2 weeks to receive mine.

I bought one of those cases from NETIMES.COM (http://bit.ly/6s1eNy) and it's quality. For less than £3 it's a steal! Quality fitting with great protection. Adds minimal bulk to the phone and is very durable. The scratch resistant screen of the HD2 takes care of itself and the case does the rest. Everyone who has an HD2 should buy this now. Top marks! 9/10.

The PDair luxury silicone case is great Does not pick up much dust at all due to the textured surface.... fits snugly without much play...
I wished someone would make a nice brushed aluminum and rubber hard back... a combination of those two materials would make for a beautiful backing/case for our HD2's

I bought this case here in the states, 4 day shipping. I really didn't want to spend this much for case, but wanted to protect hd2. This is best case I've ever seen, great fit, & protection, corners are real well protected. Very happy I decided to get it.
Awesome!!
I went for a rubberized one also by them instead.
never used a rubberized one before, this time i really wanna give it a try.
+1 for the Piel Frama iMagnum. I got a plain black one and it is by far the best case I have ever had, my friend (who also has the HD2) called me mad for paying so much for a case, but when he saw it, he promptly went out and ordered a custom model with his name on etc. The iMagnum range is beautifully made, perfectly designed and offers complete all round protection for the HD2, if you have don't mind paying that bit extra, I would strongly recommend it.

Best "Impact-ready" HD2 case ?

So what is the best "WW3 Ready" case for the HD2 ?
I know for the Iphone we have Otterbox etc, what are the top 3 for the HTC HD2 ?
It needs to protect it from a fall on concrete and look cool.
Thanks !
try this!

In my opinion the best compromise between cool look and good protection is Otterbox.
Commuter Case
Defender Case

This morning I have just received my Defender case from Otterbox (a little hacked off with them because I only ordered my Commuter from them three weeks ago because they told me there were no plans to release a Defender - hey ho!) and man is it rugged! Check it out on their website. It is basically a high impact plastic two part inner with built in screen and lens protection (no need for stickons, although I have left my adhesive protector on and the capacitative screen still works perfectly through two layers of protection), plus a full wrapround silicone outer. But forget the crappy feel of cheap skins, this is seriously high quality and wonderfully tactile. And boy does it protect! I decided to throw my HD2 across the office this morning just to test the new case and it just bounced! It comes with a belt clip which the whole phone clips into, so if you don't want to use it you don't have a bulky clip permanently attached to your case. The hardware buttons work perfectly (the outer skin has button pushes moulded in) - they feel more positive than the ones on my commuter case too. There is an easy access flap over the usb and headphone ports so no dust ingress. It does add a lot of bulk to the phone but it looks and feels great. I'm going to hang on to my commuter for when I need my phone to slide neatly into my pocket, but I suspect it will be wearing the Defender most of the time now. It is not cheap but well worth the price to protect a £400+ phone. If you are into active pursuits (or just accident prone) buy this case!

Man, that is some rugged case. Thanks for the review. I can't believe you threw your phone to test it!

My only query with these 'rugged' cases is that I see it more likely for my phone to be dropped in water or get splashed on out in the rain of here Merry Old England or the downpours of India then get run over by a 3 ton forklift (yeah, this is the sort of testing they do!)
So my question would be are the otterboxes water-resistant (not waterproof i.e. can it withstant around 1 minute immersion in water?

For some reason I cannot find the Defender Otterbox anywhere with WW shipping ! It's not even showing up on the otterbox site.
Any ideas ?
btw- The " US " Version means T-Mobile's ?
BTW2- Is T-Mobile's version the only one with 570mb of RAM ?

Takes about 15 seconds to remove the case and 45-50 seconds to put it on as the outer silicone skin needs to be fitted around various tabs and into channels to ensure the case is splashproof.

It's on the Otterbox site and the shipping options come up at checkout - $7.95 standard global or $16.45 priority with taxes and duty (mine took 3 days with latter). Look here for the case - http://www.otterbox.com/htc-cases/h...al/htc-hd2-defender-series-case-international

Priority shipping to UK including taxes and duties was $16 and it arrived in under three days. Standard global is $7.95 I think.
too bad. out of stock already.

nice one thanks!...looks like i waited too long tho
What is the difference between the cummuter and the defender ? Is the commuter much less protective ?
Also, does the "International Otterbox HD2 Defender" fit the T-Mobile HD2 ?
Defender
commuter is just like rubber skin,, defender has the inner case to protect hd2.. No, the international is only for Telstra & t8585, not us tmobile
Thanks !
So what is the second best protection case available for the T-Mobile after the Defender ? (Seeing that Otterbox dont make Defenders for T-Mob)

DIY Case

Hey guys, since i have tried the original case as well as some 3rd party cases i was not happy about the results. My main concern was how thick and heavy the nexus 7 got after applying the original case or one of those "smart" cover fakes as well as that i wanted to still be able to feel that rubberized back.
So i went to a shop which sells all kind of cloths like leather, jeans, etc. I bought myself some leather and thread went home and took out my sewing maschine. sewing it to have a perfect fit takes about 10 - 15 minutes in total depending on skill level. I still have some leather remaining for a total of maybe another 3 cases - or i might just do another few for my mobile phone or some other devices. In fact, it'll be very cheap. for a total of 4 cases the leather is about 5 euro, and the thread will last for many cases and also just a few euro. It's very simple but it's still impressing.
I've added attachment to show the end result, as well as how it fits in tightly plus as a bonus inside that store you can see the choice of materials. So if someone is happy putting up 15 minutes work he can do it for himself.
Have fun!
Edit: This is like the first prototype, therefor on the first picture you can see 2 wholes for sticking in needles. I do not recommend using this method to find out the proper size.
That is a nice looking sleeve you made for yourself. I have no sewing talent myself so I wont be attempting it.
I thought the same way which is why I ended up buying a sleeve for myself off Amazon to protect it in transport. Sure it's no actual case on the tablet but I couldn't stand the bulk and this was much more pleasant looking.
All I have on it is a screen protector and a vinyl skin on the battery cover.
P.S An idea you could possibly include on your next iteration of it is a pocket for headphones...that is if you use any with it.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Yeah i am thinking about doing several cases for several devices / things. My headphones both have cases when bought already ( Bose QC15 and MIE2i ) but i think about doing some for mobile phones, maybe camera lenses, even business cards, I'll see. I just came from that shop again, they gave me some white leather to work with free of charge.
I guess anyone can do with manual labor as well but it will take more time obviously. Anyone else can ask for grandma's assistance
Here is another one, this time for the galaxy s3 lte... the cost of the bag are approximatly 0,10 cents. Picked up the white leather for free just because i talk a bit with the woman who's been working at that store yesterday which is enough for a few more bags, the thread is not expensive. I can just recommend... If i can do that, anyone can do. My craftmanship skills are quite low. There are really nice materials out there which could give you a unique case for your phone/tablet/device so go for it!
