Another way to cook Wing's OS on you Herald - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

I tried and completed the OS upgrading from WM5 to WM6. Instead of using ASerg’ rom with some mistakes (sorry about this!) now I have a new stable WM6. If you want, you can try as below:
- Download OS file named ‘Wing_Aserg_OS.nb’ from this link: http://rapidshare.com/files/34438798/Wing_Aserg__OS.nb.html than rename it as ‘os.nb’
- Download file “HERALD.WM6.WWE.ASerg.3us’ from this link: http://rapidshare.com/files/33727988/HERALD.WM6.WWE.ASerg.3us.rar than extract it.
- Copy the renamed file ‘os.nb’ in the extracted folder.
- To do exactly only the first part 'The order of installation OS' what the file ‘How To Upgrade’ guides in the extracted folder.
This is the easiest way to cook rom WM6 and very safe. The only one issue here is how to fix the keyboard mistakes. Because this is an OS for German Wing!
Some pics for you.

Do you mean the difference between WWE and Wing_Aserg? The difference is only the language by some programs, but the Wing_Aserg_OS has keyboard problem.
I used !UPGRADE_ROM.bat

Perhaps it is because teh Wing is original WWE - But the Aserg is original a GERMAN rom and was proted to WWE. Perhaps that is the problem with keyboard.
And when using the update_rom.bat i can also use the "old" one from teh first ASERG-release. Thanks.
And good luck.

Cooked my own OS.nb; updated ROM the "Aserg" way.
No matter which ROM I use I always end up with this message after 7 minutes :
ERROR: ITWriteDisk - The drive cannot find the sector requested.
Any clues ?

Extract Language pack from ROM

Hi , I am trying to extract the language files from my original installation so as to import them in the custom rom that Faria (thank you) has provided.
Does anyone know from where to start?
Thank you in advance
Well this is how the situation stands :
I have followed up the instructions given for cooking my own rom. What i have done is to extract the ROM given by the Greek QTEK for qtek 9100 (aku 2.0) .
I have also downloaded the Greek rom for HTC p3300 in order to find a aku 3.2 rom in greek. I havent; extracted it , yet.
Does anyone know what are the Language Files that I have to take and put back in the Customized Rom so as the ROM to support greek?
There is two ways to localize ROM
1) by localization from Extended ROM (CAB file)
2) by mui files in ROM
2) mui files are *.mui in windows folder; (in the end of file name isexample) 0405 = English, 0409 = Czech).
You must write them to the ROM and than change several registry tweaks and add certifikate to windows
Much experience in that are Asukal and Jimm98y
wrong post
Note: you need to get mui files of the same OS version (at least same AKU level), or some strange things may occur when some resources items could not be found in the mui files you provided.

[Newbie] Restoring Rom

I have the Swedish version of Touch HD and I installed a custom Rom.
So my question is can I restore my original ROM meaning making my phone the way I bought it? o yeah my ROM was "1.14.413.0 (24011)SVE"
Thanks in advance
Hi,
a little manual:
load the kitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438456
unzip in a empty folder (Pass: you'll find in the text file contained)
open your swedish stock rom and copy ruu_signed.nbh to BaseRom folder on kitchen
open BlackStoneKitchen.CMD and choose e (e = extract Rom)
wait a few minutes it takes something now
when it is finished, you will find the folder OEM ROM and SYS
make your changes and start again BlackStoneKitchen.CMD
choose c, f, or cf = cook, flash or cook and flash
wfg
starbase64
hmm sounds good exept that that I dont have a swedish ROM :/
Any idea where I can get1?
and btw can I use HardSPL to install an offical ROM?
If you could wait at least until tomorrow I might find time to dump my original swedish rom. I haven't had the time to "upgrade" to WWE yet

would be great, I'll be waiting.
I've got limited time for playing around with this today and since I'm unable to find a RUU_Signed.nbh at the moment, all original rom mirrors seem down I'm unable to create a rom at the moment. Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere here, rom-cooking is completely new territory for me.
At least I've dumped the rom following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507
I have Part00.raw and Part03.raw but as far as I've understood those are not needed and thus I'm not adding them to the upload. I could send these on request if anyone explains what they're for. I don't wanna upload Part03 if it's an image of my installation...
I realized I didn't specify so in the file name but obviously this is a dump of Blackstone Swedish shipping rom.
Was planning to host on rapidshare but it doesn't like me so here's an ftp-share: ftp://guest:[email protected]:21
Hosted there until 2009-01-01
i think you dont need to to through any steps. I restored my rom just simply open up the stock rom and start install it. i have installed HSPL.
Well, the problem is that he didn't have a stock rom. And so far nobody's posted any swedish rom's as far as I can tell.
Anyway, rapdishare finally managed to complete my upload, choose which one you prefer - if you're based in sweden you're likely to download faster from my ftp.
http://rapidshare.com/files/174886962/1.14.413.0.Swedish.Unbranded.RomDump.Part01_Part02.rar.html
Help me please I really have no idea what to do now.

[PROJECT] Cook an Localized rom based on a WWE Rom

Hi Folks!
I'm surfing a lot on this forum, and what i need is some help by cooking a rom... based on another rom in another language..
for example.. we take the BLACKSTONE WM6.1 V09 (PV) - Build 20769.1.4.5 - pdaviet.net
You can find him at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478195
And then, we try to cook a dutch version of it. (or another language ofcourse)
My Questions are:
1: Is it possible at all?
2: Is there a tutorial for doing this?
3: if there's not. Who has some experience with rom cooking, and would like to help me?

It can be done by replacing all the language packs (_0409) and by editing or replacing config/provxml files. Best place to discuss this is the cooking class thread.

1. Yes, you can do that.
2. If you can extract the rom (don't know if the rom is secrued,). But if it's not, you open OEM & SYS and change the (_0409) packages to (_040x) German
I suggest you have downloaded the orginal German rom for this!
3. . . . .
But good luck, (you could also just ask the single cook, to make a german rom for you? )

i will try this, and let know if it works for me! Is it important to have take the OEM en SYS from the same rom version as the cook? or doesnt that any effect.
just remember to use a initflashfile that is either translated to your language or use one from official rom with your language (last is always prefered)
cheers
Is it possible to da that but with different rom versions?
Like, I have a portuguese official rom version 1.14 and I want to change a wwe 1.19 official rom to portuguese. Is that possible?

updates
Well, I managed to do *something*.
Here's what I did:
1- With the kitchen I extracted both WWE 1.19 and PTG 1.14 roms;
2- Then I replaced all the content of OEM/PACKAGE_BlackStone_YouTube_HKCSL_WWE_0409 with the content of OEM/PACKAGE_BlackStone_YouTube_0816.
3- I replaced 0816 with 0409 in the file's names.
4- Cooked the rom and flashed it to my HD.
When the process stoped I had everything in english except the Youtube App
Everything in the youtube App was portuguese (except the video categories, don't know why). Now I'm reverting to the portuguese rom to see how the videos categories shows up. Maybe They were in english because the system wqas recognized as english.
BTW, I did this that way just to see if it was possible.. I will read a bit more to do it the proper way, without trying to "fool" the os with filenames...

Hmmm F****
i take the rom "L26_THDV7.4_WWE"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481388
and try to extract him.. kitchen is telling me. Now start cooking your rom..
But the OEM folder is emty?

Cooking on stock ROM?

I'm interested in starting to cook, but as far as I know I need to have a stock ROM. Is this true, and if it is, why cant I cook on already cooked ROMs?
Where do I find stock ROMs? I want a swedish one, any 6.5-version and an english one, 6.5.5.
I have downloaded a swedish stock ROM from htc.com but that one is a .exe and I assume I need .nbh. Can I convert it?

You don't have to have a stock ROM but in some cases, it does help make it easier if you have one for your device.
You can open the .exe file with winrar and extract the files. The .nbh file should be in there.
Also, one of the new Kitchens I think will open up the .exe file and extract what it needs. Look through this Kitchen thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948

I'm using that kitchen and when I try to open the few cooked ROMs I already have I get this message: "Can't extract files or build packages from IMGFS structure. Please make sure the ROM is not corrupted and that it's an original ROM update released by the manufacturer."
WinRAR worked. Thanks. Now I need to find an english 6.5.5 whick can be opened in osKitchen.
You will not be able to dump most cooked ROM because of the way that the Kitchen put them together originally.
You should be able to download a source from the first post of that thread, and they have some updated system packages as well like 23541. You can also find the EXT packages there as well.
Found it now, thanks
Ok, I dont know if this cooking stuff really is for me. I dont understand what I'm doing. I managed to strip all HTC stuff from the stock ROM (a bit too much, a few things doesnt work) but that's pretty much it.
Maybe I'm trying to do stuff that cant be done.
My main goal is to get a clean WM 6.5.3/6.5.5 swedish ROM.
Should I get an english 6.5.3/6.5.5 ROM and change the language to swedish or get a swedish 6.5 ROM and upgrade it to 6.5.3/6.5.5 or do I have to find a swedish ROM which already is 6.5.3/6.5.5?

After you have dumped the Stock, you have the drivers, then go to the link and download a build, copy this into the folder sources, so OEM into OEM, sys into sys ETC... then launch the kitchen, select build and language. DO NOT DISABLE ANYTHING IN OEM AND BE CAREFUL WITH SYS!!! disable everything in EXT and you have a clean ROM
It worked! Not a very good ROM yet, but it starts at least
I've tried to change the welcome screen in the tweak settings but I cant see any difference. Where is that supposed to show?
And what is the difference between splash screen and welcome screen?

osKitchen v1.30Alpha3 for HD Mini

Update: you can find a newer 1.31 final on the osKitchen Zero thread (linked above). I strongly suggest to use that version because it has tons of fixes and improvements that also affect HD mini ROMs.
Remember to run it as administrator (if you don't import may fail), to import the latest stock ROM for your language and read the instructions from the osKitchen Zero thread if you have never used it.
Happy cooking!

The windows mobile builds are not phone-specific. You need to get the rollup file and import it with the Windows Mobile dump importing tool inside the kitchen.
Here is the link to the 23569 build http://www.mobileunderground.info/asusmobile/23569_MSXIPKernel_SYS_QVGA_WQVGA_VGA_WVGA_0409.7z , remember that this dump is english only, if you want other languages you should get 23563 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544445 (don't copy&paste languages between the twos!).
The first dump is in the ervius kitchen format, the second is in the Da_G all-in-one format.

I think that 23563 has the resolution files for that resolution, 23569 probably doesn't but you could try copying the resolution folders from 23563 (which I don't reccommend).

You just have to import the ROM file, select all the available entries in the Project Settings screen then import the other windows mobile build (Import Windows Mobile Build button), chose it from the combobox in the windows mobile build, hit Start building and hopefully you'll have a NBH ready to flash. If you only want to change the windows mobile build as long as the device doesn't have any program causing trouble it's really simple.

when i selected my device (HD mini) the program suggested that 3 apps should be recmodded. Can you explain what this exactly is? Is it necessary? The only thing i want to do with your kitchen is remove some apps from the original rom. These apps are: Copilot, jblend ect. All i have to do is just remove these from the ext packages list? Thank's

The HD mini original rom is compressed with XPR so you'd better put that if you don't want a slower ROM with LZX. If you want to remove apps and those applications are stored in Cabs you will have to edit the config*.txt files in other packages to remove the reference to the cab you removed or the rom will hang during boot at the progress bar saying the cab cannot be found.

That build is very old (the newest is the 235xx branch) and since the name doesn't have HVGA in it then it probably doesn't have the resolution files for your device.

I just looked and strangely this phone like the HD2 doesn't seem to use cab files (so no need to mess with config*.txt files) but that still doesn't make stuff easier: for example if you want to remove copilot you have to edit the INITFLASHFILES.DAT file (you can find it in the OEM\OEM_Lang_something folder) and remove all the "CoPilot V8.0" section from it.

Well to be honest all i wish to remove is Copilot and Jblend (anything tricky for this one?). The weird thing is that there is no INITFLASHFILES.DAT in the OEM\OEM_Lang_0409 folder. I think i'll just remove these two from the Ext packages and try to flash the rom. Then i'll tell you what went wrong or not I don't want to bother you anymore
