Pre-Ordering a Kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Has anybody around here ever used www.superetrader.co.uk, 'cause that's who I'm thinking of placing my pre-order with...
Alternatively, has anyone got any recommendations for where to put my name down (in the UK, preferably).

They are active over at pocketGPSworld and seem legit, although given Expansys aren't claiming to have an in-stock date I'd be a little dubious about stock coming in Wednesday.
Do let us know what you do
Gordon

Thanks Gordon.
I don't really believe the availability date, they have other HTC phones with the same date given for availability so it's probably just a general day when they receive their HTC shipments or something.
The P4550 page looks a bit out of date - a couple of the specs (GPS chip, RAM) look like they're taken from old information, so I'm guessing the availability date is a little way out as well. I've been waiting since January though, so a bit longer wont hurt.
They've got quite a good score on DealTime but I'm never sure whether to trust those sorts of sites, I'm happier listening to forum opinions, so unless I see a load of negative opinion, I'll probably go with them later this week - but I think I'll use PayPal or Google Checkout for a little extra peace of mind.

Seems they have removed the phone now as cannot see it on there site.

I used expansys sometimes it is a great seller so i ask me why they don`t accept pre-order for the Kaiser... You can pre-order a iphone too wich nobody knows when it will be aviable in Europe....

Another one taking pre-orders

Another pre-order HERE

Wow $869 USD???
Is that really the price?
What if I waited and purchased it from Cingular? I'm wondering if the preorder price is so high because it's without carrier?

I used superetraders to get my ETEN M700, they were very helpful with the order (complicated with a cc registered in one country and delivery to another country). The device arrived within the time they said and the phone had had a pre-sales check - I never got any of the problems that seemd to plague others!
I can heartily recommend them!

Anyone know if Kaiser is going to be available in Australia if so when.

Well I placed my oredr with Superetrader and payment was taken straight out of my account because I (stupidly, it seems) used Google Checkout.
Google Checkout showed my P4550 as "Posted" but, as noted earlier in this thread, Superetrader then took the P4550 off their site.
A few e-mails later trying to figure out what was really going on, Superetrader have confirmed that the release date has slipped to "Hopefully late July or early August". Shame I had to pay for the thing way in advance, but I'm hopeless with money so at least I know it's paid for and will be on it's way asap.
Moral is avoid Google Checkout! I have no problem with Superetrader, but the whole process has been complicated by Google and their fledgling payment service, which clearly needs a bit of ironing out.

I know . My info from http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=258736&view=findpost&p=840054 it could be that their initial shipment doesn't cover all pre-orders, so ordering now would result in shipping in 4 days. Dunno!
Gordon
And I haven't heard a single apology. Wasn't it Crunchgear.com that first said the 3rd? I'm never going to that website again!
Another one that may do US shipping and have 700 in stock (according to website)http://www.devicewire.co.uk/HTC-TYTN-II
The same Expansys link now shows an estimate of 1 day.
Just browse mobilefun uk and their tytn II cost £409 while expansys uk had it at £489. An £80 diffenerece is a lot. Does anybody here has an idea what's the difference between the two device? I'm really puzzled...
apology
sorry, just browse again and mobilefun price went up to £469 but i swear it was £409 yesterday
When there's no stock, it's always cheap. I'm picking my one up from Inkino tomorrow. They have a tracking number from distributor... It is in town!!!!!
Hmm. Expansys seems to have moved from 4 days to delivery to available to order. Don't know whether that means that there has been a delay.

Well they have popped up on ebay already... Just saw 3 of them, http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=htc+kaiser&category0=
the seller has no feedback, account is new, and he's listed them as bids. Already at some 700 USD with 6 days to go... Damn these people are stupid! Anyone remember the Moto RAZR? yea... 1600 USD on ebay! Some poor dumbasses paid that much... and I see this going just as high, if not higher.
This kaiser anticipation is quite entertaining.
yet its killing me!

Well guys, I called my local AT&T store yesterday and asked about the 8925. Sales rep told me (after a brief hold time) that it would be released Sept. 11. That's a pretty sensitive day in the US, but the release of this phone would definitely make a dark day brighter!
Of course, she qualified her response with the fact that these dates are subject to change. I was thinking to myself....ohhhhh really?!!

HTC Diamond UK stock sold out till End June!

389 including delivery, a hell of alot cheaper than expansys!
Remember it WILL be an import, and these guys probably won't handle shipping it to HK for you, like expansys say they will. (assuming HTC don't do worldwide waranty).
I just ordered one. These guys are pretty well known and have been around forever. Hopefully will be here tommorow
How annoying of TotalPDA! I've also chickened out and gone for the ebay route (hope it actually comes, I've had problems with ebay in the past S), even tho it's an import it's still the cheapest out there and you all know we'll end up with a custom rom anyway P

128MB is only on the pre-release versions. All diamonds brought legally, no matter where you get it, will have 192MB (bear in mind 64Mb is used for the OS). The main difference is which bands it will work on as the US have different operating bands for GSM and UMTS than Europe/Asia

As said above, only the pre release ones had 128mb. I think this 'rumour' about imports came from one or two posts (maybe the same guy) where the user was looking at the user ram total and available. This doesnt take into account the ram the ROM uses. If you search for the posts you'll see that a few posts later its clarified, but by then its too late - people are posting everywhere its 128mb already!

i'm confused. It seems you are receiving dispatched mails within a day or two of placing the order, with express shipping. I too chose express shipping when I ordered yesterday morning and I received this email from them this morning saying...
"Your item is due for dispatch.Sorry for keep you waiting, but as per our listing, for all the high value item,we need 5 working days to arrange delivery upon receive payment. You will get the tracking number after delivery, thanks!"
This suggests that they aren't going to dispatch it for another FOUR days despite having my money and me meeting all their criteria for express delivery. This is a little worrying. If they have stock why wait 5 days before sending it? I smell something fishy, do you think they are importing on order?

You might be right. I checked with the friends who said they have used these guys before...
They ship anytime between 0 and 5 days with the normal shipping, they say its an anti fraud measure - probably to make sure your not ordering to some empty house and breaking in on the next day to get it
Thats plausable, but i think its probably to get you to pay the extra 10 quid for express, or to allow them to get stock (import).
I didnt pick the express option thinking it would be 1 to 3 days max. Mine still hasnt shipped yet
I'm confident talking to my friends you'll get the phone - but i think your right, they are importing to order with a small buffer which has probably run out.
BTW has anyone received their phone from these guys yet? Can you check the rom version please?
Well i decided to buy one, just placed a pre-order with TotalPda as they seem to be the cheapest for uk spec models...£445 with del included. Told me that i should have the phone by the 24th of this month.
Not really sure if i will keep it but they did say i could return it if im not happy so ill have a play for a few days before making up my mind on whether to keep it or not.
I do hope that i fall in love with it or else ill be waiting for the Sony Xperia X1.

Well i was under the impression that it was going to be Sept but now they arent so sure..some are saying Jan/Feb 2009 which if they wait that long then its game over for Sony Ericsson...i really do hope its Sept when its released.
In the meantime ill wait for the Diamond and see how i get on with it...i have a feeling from what i have been reading here and other forums...that ill end up sending it back for a refund and wait for the X1. But im hoping the UK spec of the Diamond will be better than the grey imports that alot of people have...its been delayed due to HTC fixing some software issues or so i have heard.
Been monitoring and just (in the last hour) seen Play.com change their date from 13/06 to 27/06, so going to have to wait another two weeks for my order - damn.
Still £429 inc. VAT and delivery though

Diamond in the UK

Hi everyone
Any news on the UK release? Any insiders know when O2, T-mobile, orange might be releasing it?
Thanks!
The only thing I know about is that HTC have given a "worst case scenario" date (and everything generally is a worst case scenario with them) of the 23rd of June for the unbranded (HTC branded, to be specific) version. I don't actually know whether or not the delay that has affected the unbranded versions will affect the branded versions (i.e. O2 XDA Diamond, T-Mobile whatever).
First stock was delivered on Friday but I missed that order so my order is being delivered on Thursday. Getting really excited now. Wondered whatg i should do with my aging tytn?

Fortunately not. I am (hopefully) getting mine from insight. Getting worried now though due to so many people getting stuffed by other suppliers.

im waiting for orange too
i just check the site and there is nothing on the comming soon for the diamond
i hope i get mine before i go to hong kong for a holiday (sept)
not to say that ill also be looking at what phones they have to offer there too

July is pretty bad - especially considering the fact that the orignal release was planned for early June. I'm getting quite worried now that I won't get my Diamond for ages...
But I won't consider the Touch Pro unless the Diamond's release date is pushed all the way back to within a week or two of the Toch Pro's release date...
I read on a blog that orange will have it June 22nd.
I personally prefer the O2 design, with the rear panel that won't catch finger prints and the blue touch flo style.
I spoke to 5 O2 stores in and around glasgow, and not one of them agreed with any other about the release of diamond, ive had everything from "never heard of it" to "christmas, cuz we don lese ones ight new" (translated for normal folk, he said they dont release phones at ths time of year and it'll be more like christmas)
in short, no one has the first foggiest when O2 will release
Got mine...
Got mine from expansys. It looks like they are the only site with actual stock. Arrived yesterday and even came with a free DECT/VOIP phone - which I will probably never use!
Its a very nice device, although Opera takes a little getting used to. Was a bit concerned about battery life, but second overnight charge seems to have sorted it out.

Insight is my supplier. Looks like even Expansys have changed it to 25June this a 13 day delivery time. Why do they do this to us?
This is exactly what happened with the Cruise and one of the reasons I decided to bite the bullet and pay the extortionate Expansys prices.
All you guys still waiting have my sympathies, I know what it's like.
On the bright side of things though I can assure you all it's worth waiting for. Once you've tweaked it that is

huge problem? or the problem is that its an import?
Its conclusive now that expansys are selling the grey imports - its not just a theory - i thought everyone knew already!
Anyway you can return (distance selling regulations) and avoid any restocking fee because its not as advertised - they 'suggest' its a UK model.
Guys, how can I tell if it's a HK import? What to look for on packaging and/or device? I heard it finally came to Bulgaria and gonna go check it out someday next week. How to make sure it's the EU model?
register it with HTC club ... look for EU plug charge ... maybe ROM difference - not an WWE but customized for Bulgaria ?
I mean before I buy it...

Best Place To Buy A Touch Diamond

Hi,
This is my first post here, but the site is great and I've been coming back here for about 2 weeks while trying to decide if I should buy a diamond and I have to say the people, reviews and discussions have certainly swayed my choice into getting one. It was touch and go (pardon the pun) for a while after some initial bad reviews, but since the ROM update it seems everybody is a lot happier! I know it will take a bit of tweaking, but I'm a S/W engineer, so its nothing I'm afraid of, but it will be my first WM device, so I'm a little scared...
I nearly opted for the iPhone, but its a brick, if not a pretty cool device, but I want something that I can put in my pocket and use as a normal phone... I have an iPod for music and videos, a phone is a phone (but the GPS rocks)
Anyway, I digress, I do have only 2 questions and the first one is pretty redundant from reading this forum, but here goes:
I saw a Touch Diamond for sale on eBay and the guy selling it said that he was selling it because he was disappointed because when he came to use the GPS it was a lie and that he needed an extra component and had to carry something else around? Whats all this about. I did freak a little when I read in all the spec sheets that it was GPS "READY"... what does READY mean? I assume it comes with it all from reading the reviews.
Second question, since my mind is pretty made up and I will be getting one, where is the best place to buy one (for the UK, and UK spec) I'm not looking for cheapness, as i know they are knew and average is around £450ish (inc VAT and Delivery) but dunno where to get one from (Not eBay anyway) any advice on the best online shop, or if anybody knows of any shops that sell them (in Manchester) that would be great.
Thanks for any help in advance!
DG
Plenty of places in the UK to buy them from, if you had done a search you would have found a thread that listed all the places in UK that are selling them and they are uk spec.
But for you ill name a few:
www.expansys.com now have the official uk spec Diamonds
www.clove.co.uk
www.play.com
www.totalpda.co.uk
www.powerupmobile.com
www.htcdirect.co.uk
those are your best bets...think Expansys is based in Manchester but dont know if they allow you to go there and pick up the phone...best to ring them i suppose.
I would recommend Play.com. Never had any problems with them and at the moment it's only £399.99 with free delivery. Others sell it for about £435 or £440.
Yeah, sorry, should have done a search, but battery was dying on the laptop and no plug in sight!
Anyway, thanks for the links guys. I did heard that expansys were selling non official versions and thats one reason I asked, I have used them before but for nothing really as expensive as this.
Thats really cheap for Play, I may used them since I have an account with them...somewhere!
Now I will have the agonising wait and ensuing dissapointment that when I wake up the postman hasn't brought it its going to be a LONG week!

The general consensus is that this is only if you're a business customer buying an additional handset for your account.
Surely if most places are selling it for £400+ Vodafone won't be giving them away with no contract?!
I saw the eBay one with the guy saying no GPS too - and got a bit worried about my pre order one. I actually emailed him and asked about it. He replied saying it was GPS Ready, but needed additional hardware. After a bit of research I emailed him back again saying I was sure it definately had it built in - within another day the auction had closed early!
Whether he'd done a quick sale, or realised his error - who knows?!
Play is the best price - unless you can get a bargain on eBay. Watch out for 'Next Day' sellers whos small print says a week+ unless you pay extra postage!
WARNING!!! if you buy from play.com in the UK, you'll have to pay VAT tax as the unit will probably be held up in customs.. reason being, Play.com ships from a tax free zone.
It's clearly stated in their terms & conditions that the customer is responsible for taxes. Read the fine print!!
2ndly, I called HTC UK the other day and they told me play.com isn't an authorised dealer so you won't get full UK warranty. I'm serious.. a girl at HTC told me...
If it is a USA order
If you are in the US, then the best place to buy the phone is from Ryan at Negri Electronics. I had a problem with the first two phones (the first was a power issue, the second was wifi). I emailed them in the morning, and by the afternoon I had a UPS overnight tracking order. They included return labels, and it was no questions asked. I have bought all my luxry phones starting back at the Nokia 8800 and up til now (yes I have a addiction for cell phones). NEVER HAD A SINGLE ISSUE! The Diamond also registered on the HTC site. The phone is shrink wrapped in the retail package (he has a network, and actually travels to get the product on or before release that are not grey's). Price my be higher or lower but not by much. I trully think its worth it, because you don't have to wonder about what your are getting or when. They ship the next business day (I gotta give them credit on their speed and customer service. The answer emails right away, and phone calls are 99% answered, and messages are returned immediately.

Mine is perfect. They really have their business together.
PS: This is not an advertisement, this is my honest opinion. I have made purchase from expansys (paid for overnight, got it a week later).
Do we know when UK networks are gonna start selling these on contracts?
Im assuming all of them are branding this phone?

Tmobile will be doing them from end of the month from what i have heard..as for voda, orange and o2 they will be carrying it but dont really know when...possibly July??.
As for branding??..yep you can be 110% sure that they will be all branded to some extent. As usual Tmobile will make sure its locked to their network and probably Orange. Voda and o2 will probably sell it unlocked but with their branding on it.

2ndly, I called HTC UK the other day and they told me play.com isn't an authorised dealer so you won't get full UK warranty. I'm serious.. a girl at HTC told me...

I bought mine from Devicewire - and when I registered it with HTC - it only says I have a one year warranty. I thought UK devices were supposed to have 2 years?

Hi,
This is my first post here, but the site is great and I've been coming back here for about 2 weeks while trying to decide if I should buy a diamond and I have to say the people, reviews and discussions have certainly swayed my choice into getting one.
DG

Really??? hmm... call HTC and ask them I guess...
Mine shows up as 1 year as well... but with the following message:
Note: Your POP (Proof of Purchase) determines your warranty period. If you cannot provide your POP, your product will be warranted within the above period.
any ideas?? am I still entitled to 2 years warranty??

Ordered HTC Diamond 2

Well just as an opening thread for now... ordered the HTC Diamond 2...should be with me next thursday all being well
Release date is 8/3 from memory so if they ship out on the same day...
Have explained about the returns etc and that I would want to turn it on/mess about to test out before formally excepting it... the company are fine with this as long as its in re-sellable condition along with packaging etc.
Things I will test that my current Diamond (first edition) has really annoyed me:
1. Both ear and loud speaker volume (and I know about the hack that in the end simply distorts the speaker)
2. Touch screen - how much does it compare to the iphone...iphone nipped it in the bud with their screen in how good it is in responsivness...you can literally touchtype on it...the Diamond even with the hack is still not as good and sometimes annoying if its too sensitive.
3. Battery life
4. Quite important, it's compatibility with my Audi bluetooth kit - current one displays missed calls/dialled calls/entire phonebook etc on my Audi screen.
5. Any sort or genuine windows slide to answer/slide to unlock? S2U2 is great but still has a few annoyances which is perfectly acceptable given that its free, someones spent a lot of hard time on it etc
I think thats my top 5 really - my threshold is if 2 of the 5 fail, its going back.
One of the items that must pass is point 4.
Will report back when I get it!
I just ordered mine yesterday too. Can't wait to get it...
And about Battery life and answer/slide unlock you don't need to bother, it's fine and in the Diamond2 it's a better battery!
The only thing that bothers me is.. that there's no D-PAD. I hope we're going to get used to it...
Orderd mine today too. Now the waiting begins...
Curious about life without dpad too....

Where did you ordered yours? Cause I live in Belgium but I am not sure what site to order, I think pdashop.be or something like that. I am born in Holland so I got relatives that live there,so maybe it could be easier to order it and send it to their adres? The release date was the 14the of April right? Can`t wait I already sold my Diamond and are currently using an old Samsung D900
I'm from belgium aswell, been looking into it, i think our cheapest (doesnt say much for how early u get it, but cheap is what counts for me!) option is http://www.belzaak.nl/preorder/HTC/6972/HTC_Touch_Diamond_II_NL/
delivery to belgium is like 13€, making it a whopping 41€ cheaper than pdashop ...

You guys are all lucky bastards , haha just messing with you guys, I am trying to sell my Fuze right now so I can buy a Diamond 2, anyone interested
I am curious to see if Diamond 2's speakers are going to be better than my current Diamond. If it's as good as Touch HD's, then it'll be great. Also, will it come with Net Compact Framework 3.5, cos lots of new apps require that. Will be checking this thread on and off before the set becomes available in Malaysia. Last question - price - cheaper than Touch HD?

The Diamond 2 will most likely come with Net Compact Framework 3.5, as for the price... yes it will be cheaper than the HD, according to Expansys - the Diamond 2 will be $125 usd cheaper.
I just ordered mine as well. My supplier said it was supposed to arrive yesterday, but its stuck with customs. Im anxiously waiting for his call today, if not tomorrow. I wonder if i will be the first in the world to own it (that is IF it isnt an april fool's joke!)

I ordered mine at pdashop.nl, it's expected to arrive on april 10th. I ordered other things from them before and never had any complaint. They also do very well consistently in the tweakers.net shop review. They do indeed have a belgian equivalent: pdashop.be.
For me, service is important. I have owned both an E-ten PDA and an HTC PDA. Both have had problems and have been sent RMA once. If a repair is needed, I want that to happen quickly and without trouble. I would never buy any grey device. But that's just MHO.
At a Webshop here in Switzerland it says "will be available approx. early April".. I guess it's coming on the 10th of April aswell.
Can't wait to replace my HTC TyTN II with a Diamond2...
I ordered mine from here http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/1868/ I can't wait for it to arrive, life without a D-Pad is gonna suck but it still beats the hell outta having an Elf-in !!
india
i frm india any idea which site to get it frm and tell can i get any version or all are the same pls help im a noooooooob
thanks guys
I don't know where to buy in India. However, devices sold in different countries have different ROM's. If you buy a device with a language different from your own you would have to hard splash it and upload a custom ROM from XDA or an official HTC ROM in another language. You'd be screwed if it would break and you would need to have it repaired under warranty. Then it has to have the original ROM it came with on it.
