My indepth review of the Piel Frama Case for the HTC Advantage
can be found here

Warning it does contain lots of pictures so 56k beware... also i dont recommend opening it on your mobiles...
comments would be appreciated

Thanks for the the pictures and info on this case. Does it help with the keyboard scratch problem others have mentioned with the standard case? What advantages does it have over the standard case? Does it come with a clip?
Thanks.

it prevents keyboard scratching as you can see the whole device is covered...
it does not come with the clip
and its a tight fitting case... there are no REAL advantages other than no scratching and tight form factor which 2 things to me are very important...
as the athena can stay in the case all the time i dont need to worry about it

Great. Thanks for the reply!

Proporta have blown it!

Boo! Of all the designs for their case, they go and copy the one that comes with the phone! How stupid can you get?! I had really hoped they would come up with something cool (like the Piel Frama that's coming!)
Oh well, I used to really rate Proporta but they have definitely missed a trick here!

it could be just me, but i actually dislike the Piel Frama and PDAir one, yes i agree it covers the device better, but i don't like it cover the rear of the screen, so the buttons are surrounded by the leather which makes it really ugly in my personal view. So if you ask me what do i think about the original case, well, i actually likes it a lot, more then the Piel Frama case, i even prefer the Proporta case more then Piel Frama one.
I know I am not the only one thinking this, and looks like Proporta thinks like me too here, I guess it's really down to personal view, some people will want more protection, but some others just want the device to look good.
Each to their own I guess! Point taken about buttons having leather around them, but I think this is a necessary evil to stop the black bit on the keyboard connector scratching the screen. My personal favourite so far is the Piel Frama. Hope it comes out soon!

@WU the original case is good; but i have changed the case as the keyboard scratches the side metal bit of the screen near the vuflo logo.

actually, it's the black bit on the keyboard connector scratching the side metal, so I have take some layer off that black bit, and now it doesn't do any more scratching.

Way too expensive and I think the Tough As A Nut case is a better way to go than that UMPC case. However, it is pretty fancy looking.
I feel the same way. I am now using the Vaja case for my new camera. I much prefer the slide in action of the Nutshell case and sometimes use the OEM case.
This is probably the best case considering ease of use, protection and quality:

I agree! In my mind that's the perfect case, just needs a nice belt clip like on the Nutshell. I've emailed them asking for options.
Update - I got an email from them and they will not put a belt clip on it, can do a shoulder strap, but I don't want a purse.

Im using a black pielframa case for my X7500 for a year now and all i can say is "its the best case for a HTC Advantage device" specially now it has a swivel beltclip from Covertec + I punched a reset hole on it using shoe lace hole puncher, i also used this apparatus in installing the Covertec belt clip system. To prevent the device accidentally sliding out the case, i put a velcro to make it sturdy.
Now Im more confident& happy carrying my device anywhere

[Q] A good but still pocketable case?

Hi folks!
I have order a Streak recently, and as I live quite far from the repair service, I would like to buy a good case for my phone.
I´ve read read most of the post about cases on this forum (about Otterbox, amzer, leather ones), but I still have not being able to make a decission. So I ask for your help to make up my mind..
Here I note down my needs:
- The Streak must be pocketable with the case. I know that the device itself is almost not pocktable, so I would like to know if someone has a good case that still fits in normal trousers.
- I would prefer a case that I have not to take out the phone to use it (like those silicone ones), but I´n not sure if they provide a reasonably amount of protection. I can use a leather one (my actual Diamond has one), but it cannot be very big (the pocketable issue) and I want to be sure that I can take out the device easily without answering calls by accident.
- I understand that most of cases avoid the use both of Dell car accessory and the Dell desktop stand without removing them, but if any of them allow that, I would be good to know.
I really apreciate your advices and experiences, and thanks a lot for your time!
I personally use this case I did a review about and love it!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761820
Fits in my pocket perfectly. A bit tight when wearing long jeans though.
I have the dell case plastic form fit. Doesn't offer to much prrotection but defintly pocketable. I have no issues putting the streak in my pocket. I am going to her the amzer jellycase for added protection.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I have the Easecase too. Brilliant case but I did think it bulked the phone up too much to fit in my pocket comfortably.
I liked Dell slip cover purely to prevent scratching but it was difficult to get on or off.
I ended up buying one of these as an interim measure.

Cheap and nasty but it does the job superbly, the fold over stud clip is useless. But I found that leaving it unlatched it's great as a little pull tag so I can pull the phone in and out of my pocket very quickly.
I'd love to have a go at recreating this using loverly supple leather with a microfibre lining and a metal ring where the tab is for easy pocket removal.
I have read the excellent review about the easycase, but I´m not sure about it or this one:
Leather Case for Dell Streak - Horizontal Pouch Type (Black) Version.2 From PDAIR
(the forum does not allow me to post direct links)
Maybe without the clip is more pocketable...any experiencies with this case?
The plastic one from Dell seems to offer too less protection...a it is a bit expensive for what it is...but something similar is an option if I dont go for a leather one.
Thanks for your advices...
I believe you are talking about this one:

I do really like that case, but by the time it came out I had already purchased an easecase. It just seems that all PDair cases bulk the Streak up more. The case I have only adds about 1/8 inch on all sides of the Streak.
Although the PDair case is more visually pleasing with the white stitch.
I have bought the Amzer and the Otterbox cases, both make the phone a little big for your pocket and they are a little sticky.
I just put a product request on Boxwave to make a Pure Crystal Slip case for the Streak, I have used this on my HTC phones and like them.

so If you are interested please put a request in also.

[Q] Anyone had luck with this TPU case?

Hi,
I was very interested in this TPU case, due to its matte-finish back and glossy rim. I also liked the fact that it was located in the US and therefore could reach me relatively quickly.
However, the listing ended before I could purchase it.
I soon found this case, but due to the lack of clear pictures, I am unable to tell whether or not it has a matte back like the previous case.
Has anyone purchased this case?
Also, has anyone found any cases that are similar to the first case (TPU, matte back, etc.) and are located in the US?
Thanks.
I would be interested to know some info about this case as well.
TPU cases are nice usually dont attract dust and oil..
but it protect you only from scratches and very very light bumps.. not real protection.. so you need to take that in mind.

So , thanks Krakerx..... tell us what is it made of?
The ebay ad doesn't state it's make up.
Ive got a TPU on mine and it STILL fits in my front pockets and DOES go in and out easy without hanging up.
Does YOURS still have pocketability? Does it hang up going in and out?
A TPU is flexible, but NOT the rubber sticky feel. It's sorta a slick feel with a few ridges and bumps built in.
A Silicone is too grabby and causes the pocket material to hang,,
A smooth plastic would be ok, I guess..
Can you tell us what it's made of? hard plastic? breakable? and does it ad alot of thickness??
thanks!!
It's a hard plastic internal, covered by a rubber sleeve. Much like the Otterbox Defender series cases. Adds an about a 1/4" ridge about the screen, so you don't have to worry if you place the tablet face down. Total thickness is about 1/2". As far as pocketability, I couldn't tell you, my pockets aren't big enough, even before the case. I can tell you, I have it in and out of my work bag, and I have no issues with it. The IR port is still accessible, the SD card slot is not, you have to remove the case if you switch out the card a lot.
Here are some pictures with a monster can for scale
Not exactly the slimmest, but probably the best for protection. Only other case that's going to be slim and have a kickstand is probably going to be the Samsung's portfolio case, which does nothing to protect the tablet

Thank you, will have a look.
thanks for the photos Krackerx.... me me... it's a bit too much bulk. especially the 'clips' that extend out at the ends of it.
I'll keep looking. Thanks again for the shots
