Removing "Outlook email" from messaging - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

is it possible to just remove the entry for "Outlook email" from showing up in the drop down list in the messaging screen?
I have
GMail
Outlook E-mail
Text/Multimedia
Tigermail
but I would like Outlook to not even show up on that list? Is there anywhere in the registry it can be removed? I don't want to uninstall it, just make it not appear in that menu.
Thank you!!

yes you can do that... all you need to do is go into your active sync and go to sync options and uncheck all the section that have email.

That didn't work. I still have Outlook in the menu

Looks the same as the screen shot on my Wing.

If you actually use Outlook, it probably won't clear until you remove evrything in it. Just a hunch, I have no factual data for my guess. I was able to remove from ActiveSync, but I never used it.

When I am in messaging there is a drop down option which has all the different accounts. I was a little thrown off by the picture at first too.

there is nothing in Outlook. I've never used it, never touched it... nothing in there at all.

I was able to get the Outlook account to disappear from my Messaging account list by renaming the registry key :
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ActiveSync
to
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\ActiveSyncx

by doing this, you will lose the capability to hear a sound when you receive a text message.

Yes, I also lost the notification sounds. A less than ideal situation.

Doing this didn't remove "outlook" from my messaging ... it only literally renamed it in the folder list ... so know it just shows up in the list as whatever new name it was renamed to

Anyone have any new info on this by any chance?

If there is a way to do it i would like to know as well, i never use outlook and it takes up unnecessery space...

yeah, I think it's annoying as hell in the messaging list.
it would be nice if we could figure out how to make it simply just not show up. There has to be some really simple way to suppress it.

Bringing this back up to see if there is a solution yet.

When First syncing my phone I had the email checked to sync and Outlook showed up. I had to clear storage on my phone and when I set up the new partnership, making sure email wasnt checked, Outlook is no longer in my options. I dont know if this is ideal for you for the risk of resetting to the defaults, but thats the only way I know to get rid of it.

Is it just after syncing or when you first set up the sync partnership? Because as you are setting up the partnership, if it is checked, it wont go away later (ie unchecking during a sync).

HELP! Sync Problems!

OK, I've searched up and down, xda, win4mobile,
here is my deal,
I have the ATT Tilt,
flashed with htc's rom, ive been having trouble getting it to sync,
now that i have it synced, it won't sync my calender or tasks???
It says sync error, "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop."
fyi, I use windows mobile device center 6.1,
I am so frustrated and have no idea what to do, i feel like just picking this phone
up and hurling it onto concrete, help xda,
thanks.
Not sure if it will help you, but I encountered sync problems because I was in OFF-line mode with MS Outlook. Somehow ActiveSync needs to be On-line to enablesync with your PocketPC...
forgot to say i use windows mobile device center 6.1 because i run vista,
somebody HELP ME!
Did you try the obvious?
* Delete partnership
* Restarting the PC and Device
I had an issue and it was due to me using Windows Live OneCare. You might want to check your antivirus or firewall. It could be blocking the access.

Your not the only one.
I have the Tilt (stock ROM) and am using Activesync 4.5 and Outlook 2007.
I have this set up to sync my contacts & calendar. My contacts sync fine.
I have my Outlook calendar set up to sync automatically with my Google calendar, this is working fine.
The problem is, that nothing from my outlook calendar is syncing with the phone.
I have tried deleting the partnership and re doing everything but that does not work.
Do you run multiple Outlook profiles? For example, I have one that connects to my work Exchange e-mail and one for personal accounts. I can only sync with the personal accounts profile on the desktop, and if Outlook isn't open with that profile or I have the Exchange profile open it'll fail to sync.
I only use one profile and don't even use it for any e-mail. Only contacts & calendar.
Have you tried creating a new mail profile on the pc and syncing with that?
If that works, then just set your mail accounts up on the new profile and import your pst data (unless you have an exchange server).
I think I figured out the problem but I still dont know how to fix it.
ActiveSync is syncing the standard calendar which is blank and not my internet calendar which is listed in Outlook as "other calendar"
Is there any way to sync the "other calendar"??
Pic attached.

That would explain it. I don't believe you can do this through ActiveSync, but can through third party apps like GCalendarSync or OggSync for Google Calendar.

Can I reset the device without wiping the music??

Hi guys..as u all know, some friend deleted my 'wallpaper' folder...now I have some 10gb of music which obviously don't want to delete..at the same time, I want the cool wallpapers...
So if i factory reset my hd7 ...wwill I lose all my data???including msgs and contacts...??
Short answer, yes. It's essentially a wipe.
Long answer, sync it to Zune frist, essentially backing up your tunes on your PC.
Text Msgs, etc, are gone. Contacts should be synced to the cloud (gmail, live, exchange) and can be resynced after a wipe. I recommend a live account (hotmail, msn, live), as the integration is really tight.

Thanx a ton!!
I got the wallpapers luckily..was looking in the wrong section...but I have a question...You mentioned that the contacts will be synced with the Live account...where can I look for it??
I mean, on my Live ID, where do i search??
THanx again!
For me, I use Hotmail. When I log into the Inbox, I simply hover over Hotmail at the top, and a little dropdown appears allowing me to choose contacts.
Failing that, pretend you're going to write a new email and click the to: button to add contacts. Should show you what it has. However, it'll only show contacts that have email addresses that way, so you're likely to get better results using the first method.

Just check the Settings-->Email Accounts first to ensure you're even syncing contacts from your live account. For me, I'm only syncing email since I'm connected to Exchange.

[Q] [HELP] "Phantom" mails in Mail application

Hi,
I am using corporate mail on Mail application, POP account SSL security,
Also, I have same setup for Microsoft Outlook on laptop,
Sometime, I am re-receiving old mails, which I deleted on phone and mail server, but not in Outlook.
Any ideas why this is heppening?
I noticed that this "pantom" mails I receive after I use Outlook.
It is not big problem, but sometime it is annoing.
Also, when I flash my Note with new ROM and set-up mail account, I am receiving dosens of mails, which are currently deleted from server, is it possible that those mails recovered from Titanium backup? (I am doing "restore data" for some applications after I flash new ROM, including Mail APK, but still I need to manually configure mail account, because Titanium is not restoring mail setting)
first is sync setting in outlook vs phone. check those.
I dont get the phantom part.
anyways in titanium you can restore email separate from accounts which is why you have to set it up manually
why not set it to push and have it synched via your email instead of restoring it? that way you prevent certain scenarios
Next time when you backup your app with titanium backup make sure that in preference there is a option backup external data is on/selected

I do not have synced Outlook with phone, because in Outlook I have almost all received and sent mail (outlook file size is around 1gb) and in phone I keep most important ones
Under "phantom" I mean mails, which should not be there, because they where deleted on my phone and on mailserver too, and sometime I am receiving mail notofications without sender, or theme details, like this one:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When I open it, it just opens Mail application and I have to scroll somewere down to find "new" mail.

Thanks for advice, I will check it!
cool,
sync I mean outlook to mailserver (update one way/twoway, keep/delete on both etc), the same for phone to server. Those kind of settings. Its strange on server the messages look like they remain deleted there.
phantoms are weird, buggers, havent seen it myself thought.
I guess with menu button, or in settings from your mail app you can put sorting newest on top perhaps.

I checked, setup is according parameters, which is standard for most mail application,
mailbox type both phone and Outlook is POP3, just one difference (defined by me) from phone when I delete mail, it doesn't deletes on server, but from Outlook it does,
Also, recently I noticed, that my Gmail account is not syncing correctly: if receive mail on Phone and read, archive or delete them, still when I open gmail from browser those mails are shown as unread

Can't share contacts. "Messenger failed to load attachment."

I am tearing my hair out over this. I use text messages to share contacts. Or at least I used to. This feature recently stopped working on my Nexus 6 (stock). To share, I select a Contact from Contacts, click the 3-dots, select Share and select Messenger. The moment I provide a contact to share to, I get the error message "Messenger failed to load attachment".
When I do a full factory reset, the feature works. But after it does the updates, I start getting the error. I have tried all the usual tricks like resetting app defaults, deleting app cache in both Contacts and Messenger. I even tried the factor reset option from Recovery instead of from Settings. Same result. Nothing seems to help. My wife has the same phone (only hers is the 32gb model and mine is 64gb) and she doesn't get the error.
Any ideas?
Phone is currently at Android 6.0.1, totally stock. The only thing I've done with Contacts is to use MyPhoneExplorer to sync them with Outlook. I even tried deleting the MPE Client after syncing and it still does it so I don't think it's MPE. (And my wife also runs MPE and hers is fine.)
Is this due to the Google messenger update? Mine just updated today which is odd since it says it updated 8/29

I tried uninstalling the Messenger updates to go back to factory version and that didn't cure the problem.
Just FYI...I got an update earlier this afternoon for the stock Google Messenger app. Just now I tested it myself and was able to forward my contact card from my personal mobile number to my work mobile number without any problems.
So, IMHO, any problems don't seem to be related to the update of the Google Messenger app.
I'm starting to isolate the problem down to Contacts, not Messenger. I'm not sure what's going on. When I deleted ALL Contacts and then just put in two contacts for testing, things worked fine. I'm beginning to think that SOMETHING in MyPhoneExplorer, which I used normally to sync Contacts with Outlook, is corrupting something in the Contacts database which is causing the error.

OK, I did some more testing and what I found is that if I synchronize my Contacts with Outlook using MyPhoneExplorer, those contacts cannot be shared via Messenger. It's as if there is something extra in them that screws up the vCard. If I sync Contacts ONLY with Google, they share via Messenger fine. That sux because I use MPE to do more than just Outlook syncing. It's really a great tool. I have posted this issue in the FJSoft forums (MPE maker).

Question contacts issue

My dad bought Redmi 9T. I synched his contacts (google account), but now when he opens the "phone" app, under contacts it shows emails as well. I tried looking how to hide contacts with emails, to see only contacts with phone numbers, but I don't see this option anywhere. Am I missing something here? Plz help!
Hia Yoco!
Your dad can go to contacts.google.com on his account, and filter those contacts there.
It's a manual task to clean up contacts, unless you use an app or tool dedicated for this.
There are some useful tips on how to avoid saving emails automatically on google, when mails are sent or replied to.
Read the second list item here.

He won't know how to do any of above so it's on me to do it! Can I create a group and move contacts with emails?
Do you know of a good app for this?
So I manually moved all contacts without phone numbers into different group on contacts.google.com.
But after opening phone app (bottom left), in contacts tab, it's still showing contacts without phone numbers.

Is this phone app the default Xiaomi app, because it's really bad. I've never had so much problems with any phone before
Ahw I see! You could try to disable contacts sync under "accounts" in the phone settings (and make sure the sync is disabled before you continue) - then delete all contacts and/or clear the cache and data of the contacts application.
Then, attempt to re-sync the contacts again by enabling the contacts sync in the google account settings on android settings, and see if the grouping you did worked out. I am sadly not familiar with the phone in specific, but the contacts are fairly limited in terms of these features. If the problem is merging, contacts.google.com has this as well - it will suggest contacts to merge for you, if there are duplicates.
See in play store if there are better alternatives! It may help you a far way!
I tried as you said, but it didn't work. Even after I deleted all my contacts, on the phone app, all contacts are still visible.
