Remove Calender&Contacts bar - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Is it possible to remove to whole bar at the bottom of the home screen? Mine has links to contact & calender, but I just want to remove it since I dont use them at all...
Any ideas?

soft key applet
you can use a program called soft key applet, which is downloadable from the xda ftp site, not sure if you can simply turn these off, but you can assign different programs to them.

I use dcinobar, you can just click the .exe to enable / disable it. I have mine placed in the \windows\startup folder works perfectly.

nice post, def. gonna try this one out when I get the chance as I never use the on screen soft keys anyway,(plus I know I ain't the only one who can't stand the fact that the home screen plugin from HTC doesn't allow one to scroll down the today screen in landscape mode)and a little extra room is welcomed with open arms. I'm guessing you can still use the soft keys if you want to by pressing the hw buttons on the device right????
cheers

Heres the trick..
It LOOKS a lot better. It makes more of your image available to use.
But wither or not you use the buttons doesnt even matter, because when at the today screen, even if you press those buttons they still work. I use mine all the time, but I dont like the clutter, but it doesnt matter. I just remember what buttons do what, since they still work.
Im adding this to my newbie thread

Thanks!!
This gives the homescreen just a bit more room.

Another nice mod is to remove the iconset for the unlock/com man/etc located above this bar. I used the regedit method using total commander- simply delete the following from your registry:
\\HKLM\INIT\LAUNCH92
This is the key that launches the tray application at boot (To re-enable create the registry key above with the value TrayAp.exe)
Have fun!

Actually I found the tray icons very useful and actually added my own tray from batterstatus. One touch activation of any of the radio's and various programs makes using the tray very efficient. Plus you can access the tray without even touching the screen so its a win-win in my eyes.

Regarding Neptunes' first post at the top,
"(plus I know I ain't the only one who can't stand the fact that the home screen plugin from HTC doesn't allow one to scroll down the today screen in landscape mode)"
I have spent days looking for a fix/patch for this. Is not having the scroll feature in landscape mode the final answer on this one?
Thanks guys!

Scroll
Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home and change the type to 4.
Poweroff and poweron.

Thanks, exactly what i need.

Change menu at the start screen

Hi there - does anyone know how the lowest line of the start screen can be changed i.e. is it possible to change the list of programms which appear ?
THANKS
Myrin
The Start menu? Sure, start, settings, personal tab, menus. If any appear to be locked (won't let you remove unselect them) then you need to use total commander or equivalent and go to My Device/Windows/Start Menu and delete the unwanted shortcuts. You would then be able to use the menu program above to add in up to seven programs that you want.

I think you mean the bottom line of the Today Screen.
So, you want to change the shortcuts of the HTC Homeplug?
I don't know how to do that cause I don't use it. Maybe anyone knows?
Pls see the file attached - this line below I mean !!!
So you want to change the programs accessed by the soft keys on the Today screen? Vito Button Mapper will let you do this.
Will it work also with Magic Button ?
I'm getting headache with the screenshot
Anyway, I think peter7 meant the Tray Bar program.
I think he is using some Tray Launcher of some sort. Difficult to look at the screenshot.
what the hell did you use to take the screenshot, a Sharpy?
Can you take a better screenshot, this time with a screenshot application that actually takes color images?
anyways, that is one strange looking today screen you got there. What's the icons next to the start button?

adding the comm manager to the today screen

i have a quick question:
i recently installed the htc home 6 button screen, and the htc home customizer
on the program launcher window there originally was an icon that takes me to the comm manager/wireless manager but i removed in an effort to re-arrange the buttons. but now i cant find it in the list of apps to add.
would it be possible for someone to direct me on how to get it back? thanks.

When you remove an icon from the launcher, there should be an empty space with a circle with a cross in it. Pressing that, should bring up thelist of apps you're talking about. On my device, it is just a few scrolling lines down.
Have you tried just typing "Comm Manager" in the top bar and press select?
unfortunately no luck on the typing in and hitting select. it just goes to the closest match in my case "contacts"
It was originally one of the first six or so items in the selection menu, if its not there i dont know where it would be.
I want the same thing, to add the Comm Manager to one of the launcher buttons, rather than trying to tap the connection icon at the top of the screen.
i use pocket toolman 2 which places a icon in the system tray with a host of other icons you can select. its quick, easy, and free... good app
tvos
I am not 100% sure which one but either Schaps advanced config or KaiserTweak one of those two things have option to enable wireless thingy on today screen. It shows your current wifi and bluetooth connections and clicking takes you to connection manager. I would first try KaiserTweak.

Worked out how to do it earlier.
Browse to the windows folder and make sure you've got all files visible.
Look for the executable CommManager.exe, right click on it, select copy.
Browse to windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tools right click, select paste shortcut.
Right click and rename the new short cut from, "Shortcut to CommManager.exe" to CommManager
Then it will be visible in the list of applications you can add to your shortcut buttons on the HTC homescreen. You can use the same method for any other applications you want on the launcher if they're not available automatically.
(I pasted the shortcut where I thought it most appropriate on the start menu).
thanks 6thElement. that shortcut worked.
thanks TimeSaver. i used KaiserTweak to enable wireless on the today screen initially.
This trick did not work for me. I have the Dutty WM6.1 Diamond ROM.
I need to put the Connection Manager on the Today screen, so that it can show me what am I connected to, but it does not show up in the Today item list.
I created a Registry key for iy in HKLM\Softwate\Microsoft\Today\Items and it showed up in the list, but still does not work, brobably because I am linking to the wrong DLL.
May someone, who has the CommManaget on their Today screen see what are the correct Registry entries in HKLM\Softwate\Microsoft\Today\Items for the Comm Manager and post here?
never mind my previous post - I found that what I was looking for was called "wireless" and can be added through the Kaiser tweak....

BackLight brightness adjust command line utility for Kaiser aka TYTN II

I dunno if I'm only one who has this problem but when I'm occasionally on sun I can't see nothing on my Kaiser and it's really difficult to setup backlight brightness on touchscreen which u can't see.... So I've been looking alot if there is some utility which I can link with button or gesture and I haven't found anything... So I've wrote my own utility. Feel free to use it as well if u find it useful -> http://lobster.ic.cz/?page=bl
is this useful or is there easier way to do that??
Been searching for an app like this for a week.
Works great!
Thanks.
Here's another program that gives you a today plug in for it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412896
I'll b trying yours tho as I like the idea of UL with icons for up and down
Cheers,
Matthew
I made a cab with this program mapped to the PTT button. I have a AT&T Tilt, Im not sure if your phone has a PTT button or if its called something else or whatever.
With this, just run the cab then I tap the button and it changed the brightness really quickly, no menu or anything, I love it! If I walk out into the sun I just tap the button 3 times and my screen is bright.
Lobsterii, I love this program thanks a ton!
I'm glad that I could helped u out guys... actually there might be more funny stuff possible only if HTC release some documentation on theirs DLL files cos it's pain to guess arguments...
you did it all by guessing? I figured you would have decompiled the dll.
Truly excellent! I have also been looking for something like this for a long time.
I figured I might as well kick off the feature requests that always follow a new release: How about the option set both battery and power brightness with one command? Perhaps by a special switch, or by only specifying the brightness level (i.e. no 'b' or 'p' switch)? Or is there a way to do it already?
Thanks again for a useful app!

I've read some forum where someone pointed out that backlight function should be in some dll by HTC dunno where it was... Then I was googling "dll find export function" and I've found prog "DLL Export Viewer" which can show function names in dll. Unfortunatelly there is generally impossible to find out how many/what arguments the function has. So I've found function name like HTCUtilSetOnBatteryBrightnessLevel and I've simply try prototype int HTCUtilSetOnBatteryBrightnessLevel(int); but it crashed... so I keep going like int HTCUtilSetOnBatteryBrightnessLevel(int*); and it worked... voila...

done. + it's now compiled as an release version so it actually has 50KB less than old version... enjoy it's at the same place instead original files http://www.lobster.3web.cz/bordel/bl/index.htm...
Nice improvements! how about another a switch so that it will toggle between brightest to dimmest? So if this was used it would just go between 1 or 10 and none in between.
Thanks for implementing the feature I was looking for. A perfect application - it's small and fast, and it gets the job done with excellence.
Thank you. Works perfectly.

hmhm... what I wouldn't do for y... There is new version 02 (on my web at the same place) where u can setup your own sequence. Length of sequence might be from 1 to 10... values are as usual from 0 to 9... But numbers must not repeat (known feature I don't see point to solve it) so u can set something like "bl02.exe 0 5 1 9 3" or whatever else... enjoy
Report any found bugs... I mean it's super simple but it's 4 am so I'm half sleeping...

How to use bl02...
Something from lobsterii that helped me:
create link in Total commander (file manager) I think its in options "File -> >>>>> -> Create shortcut" then I have another file bl02.lnk then I open properties of the lnk file, I click tab shortcut and put the text of path into "" and after it I wrote parameters so it looks like
"\Program files\bl\bl02.exe" 1 3 9
OK dumb question and first time posting so don't slaughter me. If I understand the thread correctly this will put large buttons to adjust from the Backlight screen....correct? Is there a program (other than the PTT button which I'm using) that will allow a button or swipe to adjust the brightness without having to open the brightness display? If you get far enough to open the utility then its not that hard to move the brightness up. Sorry for the dumbness of the question.

There is plenty of programs to map this app to buttons, finger swipes and some other crazy stuff like voice commands etc.. For example I'm using FTouchFlo (u can use FTouchSl which is easier to configure) and map backlight change for finger swipes... Most easy way is just copy blXX.exe to /Windows/Start Menu/Programs/blxx.exe and then go to Start->Settings->(tab)Personal->Buttons and link it with some buton...
I'm just now at work so have no time for more explanation... but Once I get home I'll create some FAQ at download page cos... cos it'll be easier for all of us
dont sweat it that was a perfect explanation and I now have it helped me to get it running to a button.
One other quick question though....I have S2U2. So the button doesn't work until I have unlocked it (which sometimes is hard to see going out to daylight) is there any way (easy way, Im no programmer)to allow the button to work (that is brighten the display via the button I have it mapped to) while it is still locked?

I'm sure he won't be able to bypass A_C's S2U2, but (assuming you have a Kaiser, you didn't say) if you enable dpad in S2U2 you can always hold your right dpad button to make sure S2U2 is unlocked, even if you can't see the screen, and then hit the button for the "bl02.exe 9" link.
Ha ha...you guys are awesome! Right Dpad enabled and now it works like a charm even in the brightest sun!! Thanks for the great application...makes a big difference in usability.
Some of you experts ought to make a list of these application gems (this program/kaeser tweaks etc) to make it easy for the noobs like me. This is good stuff!!

full screen in pocket informant won't go off

hi people! i have installed on my diamond this app: pocket informant... the latest version...
i was exploring the program, and i found there was an option to turn the program in full screen...
the problem is now i can't turn off that option, and pocket informant is always in fullscreen mode, and it's impossibe to access to the menus, editing what we want, exit the program... is real annoying....
does anyone know how to disable that option??
thanks!!!
I have no solution for you how to disable this option.
To turn off fullscreen again, you have to change the registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WebIS\PocketInformant]
"FullScreen"=dword:00000000
Be sure to quit PI before changing the registry key.
You should be able to press a hard key on the phone and it will take it out of full screen.

Had the same problem. Contacted WebIs and got the following reply
If you do have an issue where its not coming out of full screen mode when it should, then you can fire up a reg editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WebIS\PocketInformant and delete "FullScreen".

It does actually; mapping Button 1(hold) to something (usually left soft key)will drop PI out of full screen mode as advertised.
I've got mine mapped to Comm Manager; if PI has focus in full screen it will drop out of full screen and retain focus, if not in full screen Comm Manager launches

Start|Settings|Buttons| 1) highlight the bottom option "Button 1(hold) and 2) select action from the drop down menu...option <Left Softkey> is the recommended but Comm Manager works for me as "dual use".
Button 1, of course, the Call Answer (Send) key...
Had the same problem with my HD2. The registry edit worked like a charm - I just changed the value in Fullscreen from 1 to 0.
Very nice fix.

[APP]psShutXP Fuze/Touch Pro - Replaces Long-Press Power Key

First I would like to state that none of the graphics in this cab file are my work. I don't know who made them but it wasn't me. Also, I am not the developer of psShutXP.
What I did was fix psShutXP so that it replaces the Long-Press Power Key. Instead of having a lame, white "Do you want to shut down" window that pops up when you hold the power button, you will have a nicely skinned psShutXP window that gives you the options to turn off the display, power off the device, reboot the device, hard reset the device, and even gives you the options to set reboot schedules.
Note that ALL functions are working in this cab that I put together including Shut Down.
I made 2 cab files. One for the Fuze and one for the Touch Pro.
Screenshots:
Very neat app. it matches my black theme.
not questioning, but wondering what the diff is with this one and the cab from the diamond forum for psshutxp that works on our fuze's to map it to longpress power key?
I just override the original .exe file with renamed psShutXP.exe and put the skin in the same directory, works like a charm
//Edit
From what I can see, your CAB does exactly the same thing .

Lol nope. Just the themes. This cab file is actually the best way to go IMO because it offers the Shut Down capabilities of PowerOffWarning.exe with the added looks and functionality of psShutXP.
Hands down, a winner in my book.

Wow, I did the exact same thing about a month ago on my TP ROM. Used the same skin too but slightly modified.
Did you just renamed PsShut or did you do something differnt? I havent had a chance to look yet at the cabs. For my cab's I renamed PsShut to Poweroff warning.exe or whatever. I then made it into kitchen selections. If anyone is interested I can upload them when I get home.

If you look closely at the cab files you will see that this does not just rename psshutxp.exe to PowerOffWarning.exe. It actually contains both exes but in a working combination so that the power off function actually works.
perfect reset tool for me
That's exactly what I've been looking for, with the perfect skin for my Touch Pro (resp. T-Mobile MDA Vario IV), thanks for your good work!
Just a remark: on my device it installed to the Windows directory and did not create a link e.g. in startmenu/programs, made that manually since I like the additional possibility of resetting without need of using hardware buttons, could be a further improvement.
The basic psshutXP from developpers web site did that, maybe it's also a good idea to leave the link to that site here:
http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/index.htm
There you'll also find additional skins, though these black HTC adapted skins from above are perfect.
so... psshutxp "shutdown" function of this cab... really power off the device or just send it to stan by? its works for QVGA?
Thanks for the utility. I think it is very useful.
Question - after installing, it places itself into the System Tray in the Today's screen. Is there anyway of removing it - afterall, using this utility is already so easy via the power button.
QVGA available

Hello wolframio,
look to the basic developers page for QVGA skins, there are some available:
http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/skins.htm
http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/users_skins.htm
You'll need those one for QVGA devices, also a HTC adapted black skin is there.
It turns off device, switches display off or restarts your mobile, even hard reset is possible with some 'hidden' button on upper right side, with confirmation pop-ups...
i mean, this really turn of the phone, i got psshutxp cooked on my own rom with my own psshutxp skin
excellent app
thank you!!! not much but here you go 29275987W5492260D
This is still not shutting down my Touch Pro (CDMA, MightyRom 4.16). When I press "shutdown" it just turns the screen off. And now it has taken over my power button, so I REALLY can't shut down.
EDIT: Actually, I see that by long-pressing the power button, and pressing shutdown on this tool, my phone actually does shutdown. But it doesn't work when I launch the program instead of pressing the power button. Is this what is intended?
