ATT Tilt and hard resets issue - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

It seems that with the ATT Tilt, you are not able to do a hard reset using the left and right soft key plus the reset hole. Has anyone figure out how to do a hard reset on the device without using the program in "Settings"->"System"->"Clear Storage" ?
Thanks

-Enter Bootloader mode: Hold Camera + Power buttons together and reset with stylus(thanks pof)
-HardReset: Hold Both soft keys in while pushing in Reset button :When prompted push Green Talk Button to clear data.
This and more located in the upgrades section...

Thanks for the information. I have the information you mention. I have not tried the boot loader mode yet, but the hardreset functionality does not work on the ATT tilt. I've tried it quite a few times, it does not prompt for the erase data, it just did a soft reset and everything comeback normally.
Thanks.

It worked for me...
Make sure you aren't accidentally pressing any other key...

hmm... on the ATT Tilt ?

Yep...
The drone at the store did the customization, which let all of the bloatware install.. The first thing I did when leaving the store was to hold the two buttons in, then push the reset button for about a second or two (while holding down the button), release the reset button, then release the two softkeys.
I then got the white screen asking you to hit send...

Have you looked at the Kaiser Sticky about ALL Kaiser facts? the link is in my sig below but becareful you might learn something!!

When a hard reset is done, does the phone goes to a state when you first got it from ATT with all the programs, games, tools etc installed?

I was able to do it on an ATT Tilt. However, you have to be sure that you are not fat-fingering any other buttons. Also, hold down both softkeys until prompted to press another button.

It works well
I thought my partial ROM flash cooked my AT&T Tilt. The power + camera reset took my phone back into the hardspl screen for updating again. Thanks.

Many thanks for the info! The power/camera/reset did it for me.
Back to original specs.
Now I can upgrade.
The people at the ATT store were clueless.
Go figure!

Not sure what you want... but you can go to Start...Setings....System and choose CLEAR STORAGE and that will give you a hard reset as far as whiping data.

Don't forget about your good friend, WIKI.
I hard reset a TILT that was locked up after installing Blackberry connect to SD card (known issue). Hold down the two soft keys, then use the stylus to press the reset button for a few seconds, then release while still holding in the soft reset buttons. The warning message comes on, and as said earlier, use the green send key to initiate the data wipe.

interestingly, it does not work on my TyTN II.
However, its working on the Trinity.
It worked on my Kaiser/Tytn ll. Thanks!!!
not for me :-(
Hi,
maybe me being stupid, but this procedure does not work for me. Problem is that I installed software for the iGo bluetooth keyboard (I know ...) and ever since the Kaiser is resetting itself every 30 seconds. So what I get is only the smart mobility message, a short vibrate and then back to start. Anyone any idea how to get out of that? May I just press the wrong softkeys?
many thanks in advance

new situation: the keys I press are definitely the right ones, I can also get into bootloader mode. I flashed the original rom (RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship) back which finished successful but the situation is the same. When I hard reset I am told it has been done, being asked to press the green button and it reverts to the old problem immediately. I should say that I have not modded my device so far, it was in original state before I installed the above mentioned software. Could it be a coincidence and it is a hardware problem?
HELP!!!
I found hard-resetting my HTC TyTN "GB" somewhat unpredictable. Holding down both soft keys while depressing the reset buttone is the correct procedure. It's either related to the HTC_END.cab. Do you have this installed?
Cheers
Strange, can't perform a hard reset either, using the softkeys of my TyTn II. No matter how long I press and hold them, no message screen, no option to hard reset.
The only way is to use Clear Storage.

blackberry connect install problem / reboot frozen screen

I've searched the forums, and can't find a report of anything similar...so this might be new...if it isn't, help locating a thread would be great.
- Downloaded Blackberry connect install cab
- Seems to install fine (log looked good before reboot)
- Press "ok" to reboot device, but upon reboot, the device screen is locked at the Windows Mobile screen
The unit seems to be operating fine... I can receive calls - the phone rings, the caller ID pops up, but it stays on top of the Windows Mobile boot screen...
The power button will not shut the unit off...only turns the locked screen on and off
Battery removal and reboot freezes at same spot.
I had deselected all the ActiveSync options including the 'connect via USB' option... and now can't view my device from my laptop...
I've had the TILT only a couple of days...I'm running the stock ATT Tilt ROM & software...added two themes (night palms and the planet reflection ones)... have a 6G microSD card with some songs, pictures, and a device backup...
Looking forward to your suggestions & solutions!!
I tried it on mine and it did the same. So I gave up and did the hard reset and started over without even attempting to install the bb connect.
after hard reset
thanks for the quick response...
the hard reset worked fine...
I repeated the bbconnect setup, this time installing to the device instead of to my card... everything worked fine.
How did you do a hard reset on it?
hard reset
a hard reset will wipe all your data and set it everything back to the default status...it isn't supposed to clear anything on your sd card ... i take mine out anyway.
to do a hard reset, hold both the soft buttons while pressing the reset button w/ the stylus (the reset button is on the bottom edge under the hard OK button )

One thing the instruction did not say rright was to hold the two soft keys and then press the reset then release and wait for the screen to give the instructions. Well the real way is to hold all 3 and wait and the process will be on its way.

this is just not working for me, how long are you pressing the stylus in? how long are you holding the buttons?
When I do it I get the AT&T logo screen (a short vibrate) then it continues to the windows mobile boot screen. I can never get the prompt to erase all data. I've tried the procedure a dozen times, no luck.
Make sure you are pressing the soft buttons and not the 'call' and 'end call' buttons as stated on some sites. Hold those and press stylus into reset until it turns off. Continue holding the buttons until the message comes up.
I've just had to do this for exactly the same reason!
I had the same problem on my Touch. After the hard reset I have found a solution: install application to device memory not on storage card. That helped me and now BB Connect is working fine.

Need Help!!! How can I fix this?!?!?!

Hi I have an ATT Tilt I upgraded to ATT ROM from HTC site and intalled a couple of cab files derectly on the phone (HTC home, cube, etc) afte installing the kaiser music player i did the soft reset as it asked and now the phone is stuck in an infinite reset loop. How can I fix this?
I know the files are godo becaus eI had installed them previously but had to do a hard reset becasue of syncing problems.
THANKS!
i think if you try Holding down the two soft keys, then use the stylus to press the reset button for a few seconds, then release the reset button while still holding in the soft keys. The warning message comes on then use the green send key to initiate the data wipe.
hope this helps

[Q] Hard resetting the CDMA Diamond

I screwed up the registry (one of the folders in HKLM got renamed), the phone rebooted by itself, and now it gets stuck at the "Touch Diamond" screen with the red text at the bottom.
The hard reset doesn't seem to be working for me (holding down vdown + enter, and hitting reset). The phone just reboots and gets stuck at the screen with the red text again.
I pulled the battery out for about 10 min, put it back in, and tried holding down vdown + enter while turning on the phone. Again, it gets stuck at the screen with the red text.
I can get the 3 colour screen to come up by holding down vdown + power + reset but I don't know what to do with it after.
I have the Telus Diamond. Hope someone can help!
I have read other posts from owners of the CDMA diamond, and the hard-reset button sequence is the same. Just make sure you hold down the VOL-DOWN and ACTION BUTTON (round center button) even after letting go of the reset button. That might be your problem...letting go of the buttons too early.

I hold them til I get stuck at the screen with the "Touch Diamond" and the red text at the bottom. I even tried holding it for awhile after that screen appears.
Hmmm...I guess there are others here that own the CDMA-version and can confirm the hard reset sequence is the same. But if you can get it into bootloader and then plug in the USB cable (with the "USB" indicator showing), then you should be able to flash a CDMA-specific ROM (possibly from Telus).
You can always use Clear Storage from the System tab in settings. It's quite the same, really!

Yes, I've tried that, but it acts like I'm doing a soft reset. I've tried holding vdown and enter for over 30 seconds after hitting the reset button (yes the buttons are pushed even before/during reset button is pushed)

Hi, what do you mean by bootloader?
If you mean the screen with the 3 colours I have been there. It says Serial on the bottom and if I plug in my USB it says USB.
good news!
Well if you want to hard reset your telus device, its a little different. Dont know why, but it was a little trial and error for me and my diamond.
Goes like this:
Hold vol. Down, Center button, and POWER (tricky one) and then press reset. let go of reset and you should be good.
Dont know why they dont TELL us these things...

Excellent! Using that combination of keys, I was able to get to the hard reset confirmation screen twice in two attempts, after failing miserably without the Power button! It's just the contortions required to get the Power button at the same time that's a challenge!

Alright!
Well glad I could be of some help, considering how much help the others in the fora have given me.
It just irks me that even the product manual that comes with the Telus Diamond gives us the wrong combination of keys for the hard reset. Bet you that customer service would be useless here as well.

I e-mailed HTC tech support yesterday morning, and this was their reply:
===========================================
Thank you for your inquiry about the hard reset process for the Telus Diamond.
I understand that you had issues performing the hard reset with the Touch Diamond. The printed instructions are correct. Pressing reset is sometimes difficult with the Diamond model, but the Reset button simply powers the device off and back on. I recommend my customers remove the back cover to get better access to the Reset button. By holding Volume Down and Enter and powering on the device from an off state, it begins the hard reset process. When you use the Reset button, you simply ensure the device will turn off, then back on while holding the other keys.
We appreciate you letting us know about this issue.
===========================================
I e-mailed them back to tell them they were wrong (again). I also advised him that it's physically impossible to reset the device without taking the cover off, as he was apparently unaware of that, either. I'd like to see a video of one of their people trying to reset the phone using their instructions.

diamond doesn't hard reset, please help

hi all, my first ever post in this forum. first of all many thanks for being here.
I was reading too many threads about the diamond. mainly about hard reset problems and new roms. my problem is that I couldn't perform hard reset. searched over the forum, tried what others did, just no result, what I am getting is only soft reset.
the method is:
use reset button while holding volume down & enter buttons , release the reset and keep holding others until the information window appears on the screen... somebody says power button also needed to be hold. somebody suggest holding the enter button very carrefully as it is very easy to activate direction buttons. somebody says rom is need to be updated as existing rom can be corrupted.
I tried all of above, I did update the rom several times and checked if hard reset is working, no result.
my tricolor screen says :
DIAM100 MGF 64M
SPL-1.24.Hard
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11
PSOC-Diam STAGE_PVT v0x32
I've 1.37.405.1 and radio rom 1.00.25.03 now, I know they are older versions but I tried 1.96. series too but did not throw in another hspl.
is it worth to try flashing with newer hard-spl such as 1.93 and compatible roms. any suggestion is very appreciated. I just wory about it coz read in many threads it is good to perform a hard reset after a new rom.
ps:assuming if it is cannot be changed, any software to perform hard reset? sow somewhere video of it, any help?
thanks for reading
Read this.
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_diamond_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html
thanks for post but link doesn't work. I assume there is just explaination of normal hard reset method which I tried several times already.
Hi
cant open the above link to confirm if the same as what method i use, press and hold volume down and enter and the reset and release all upon tri colour
i must remove the SIM to get a hardreset.
with inseted SIM the procedure not works on my device (why ever? no idea!)
Just to further clarify:
If you have the CDMA version (like I), you must hold down power button + volume down + enter button at same time. Press the reset button with your third hand and continue holding the buttons until a screen prompts you for a reset. Volume up button will confirm the hard reset.
That's what I had to do and I would love to meet the engineer behind that crazy combination... I had to prop the stylus in a 3 ring binder while holding the three buttons so i could jab the back of the phone into the stylus while my other two hands were preoccupied with this stupid combo.
Arg. Hope this helps

this is not the hard reset. I got the tricolor screen by holding volume down + reset button. for hard reset there must be a window asking your approval if you are confirming hard reset, than pressing volume up is performing it.
while holding volume down + enter and resetting is resulting soft reset only. I tried many times as if I am mistakenly pressing other buttons but not... any help?
edit:with sim or without it didn't make any difference. however, I tried the last method whitesoxxx suggest but didn't hold the reset as I hold the others, will give result in a minute. by the way my device is from orange, is it CDMA (sorry if it sound soo stupid
result:nope, didn't make many difference, still soft reset. one more question: this reset confirmation window, how many second later it suppose to appear?
thanks
my last post might point you in right direction...

It is an incredibly stupid combo! I had to search xda-developers to figure it out the first time because i just didn't believe the user manual!
For me, it works easiest with the diamond face down on the edge of a desk and supported against a heavy object (shelving unit) so that the Vol Down & Enter combo can be done one handed. I then have a hand free to press reset, which is easy with the back cover off!
beleive me i have no any complain about how difficult to reach ald hold all those buttons at same time, I am quite use to it
I sent back the diamond today as hard reset problem was really annoying. I tought mine was defected somehow. will buy another, if next one does the same should I send it back again? is it really necessary to do hard reset after updating rom?
thanks
To perform a hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and
ENTER button, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see a message on the screen.4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the
VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other
button to cancel the reset.
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the
VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other
button to cancel the reset.

***I tried it,but the problem with YouTube didn't stop.
Very easy way to Hard reset the phone is by going to phone settings and select "Clear Storage" and enter 1234 click ok. (This is erase all the data and installed programs and will get the factory settings)
