Trying to get Vodaphone Live to work on HTC branded TytnII - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hi guys - need some help.
Been following the guide on how to get Vodaphone Live to work on the HTC branded TytnII.
Done the registry editor changes to it now appears to be an Nokia N95... but every time I try to copy the Browsers.dll file across to the windows directory I get a write permissions error.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Tony

Try using Resco Explorer or Total Commander to copy "browser.dll" to \Windows...
I think the built-in file explorer will give you an error, but those two should allow you to copy it over.

Hiya this is the guide I used:
http://www.modaco.com/Vodafone-Live-Settings-t259142.html

I tried the settings in the thread Wise1 gave but it didn't work. Has anyone got vodafone live to work on the TyTnII?

Use the cab in here...
It uses the same browser.dll and reg settings as mentioned in the guide, but only takes two seconds (and a soft reset).
Oh, and always remember that you have to connect to the internet via the *WAP* settings before you can get on to Vodafone Live! - you'll get an error if you're connected via the "Internet" settings.
Enjoy!

It Worked!!!!
Thanks Sub69 it worked. I had spent hours trying to get Mobile TV.
Just thought I'd add one note though for those people that download the cab and then expend the Internet browser to work.
Once you have installed the cab go to START, Settings, Connections, then click on Connections icon. Click on Advanced and Select Networks. On programs that automatically connect to the Internet, select Contract WAP from the dropdown menu.
Next goto Internet Exployer and type http://live.vodafone.net. It should then work.
p.s. turn off WiFi as this will stop internet streaming on vodafone live

Thank you for this...
This worked perfectly for me, although I had to enter wsp://live.vodafone.com before it loaded the vodafone live! homepage (http:// at the start didn't work).
Amazing isn't it how Vodafone happily sell Windows Mobile devices but don't support them with Vodafone live and Pocket IE!

Personally, I use: http://live.vodafone.co.uk but as long as it all works, that's the main thing!
And yes, you must be connected via the *WAP* settings otherwise you get a "service is not responding at this time" error.
Bit of a pain that - I've tried all sorts of fiddling with the exception list etc. and I just can't get it to switch connection settings automatically when navigating to the Vodafone pages.

app to devellop...
If a dev guys could write a little apps with two big button to switch to :
* Vodafone Live wap
* Defaut internet
it's would be nice if you can setup within the applic 2 network config something like:
Button1(I):
Internet connect with : ....
Work connect wit : ....
Button 2(WAP):
Internet connect with : ....
Work connect wit : ....
and an option to start PIE to another web page ... with button 2...

Still not working...even with the .cab
Thanks guys...I'm another HTC TYTN ii user and I got all excited reading this thinking I'd finally found the fix (I hate Vodafone for selling me the Vodafonelive/MobileTV package and then not supporting me!!). I've loaded the .cab and followed the instructions for the reset. I'm also using WAP to now try and access the vodafone live sites...but no joy!!! :-( The following errors occur on each respective 'potential' Vodafone live page.
http://live.vodafone.co.uk - Gives me the error message: Bad Gateway - The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. Additionally, a 502 Bad gateway error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
http://live.vodafone.com - This must timeout in some other way because I get an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later.
http://live.vodafone.net again an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
wsp://live.vodafone.net again an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
wsp://live.vodafone.com This must timeout in some other way because I get an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. check the connection and try again later.
wsp://live.vodafone.co.uk
Can someone please advise if I need to do anything else...or can you think of anything else that I can try???
By the way...I do at least get the EXCEPTIONS working out in Connections...By inputting the above sites into EXCEPTIONS, they do connect over WAP rather than IS(3G).
Pleeeeeease help! Cheers.

The cause is just your tricks to use exception...! Don't try to use it, even if it connect right...do a manual connect you will see the difference

I got those sorts of error messages when I was trying to work out how to use the exception list too. Very long "loading" times, followed by IE timeout errors.
Should work fine if you set your connections so that the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet" are using the "Contract WAP" settings...

Same here?!

Same here?! Kaiser (Vario III) with Dutty´s Kaiser Final 2 (TouchFlo). Running fine.
What happened:
Try to establish internet connection. "wap.vodafone.de" (without Proxy)
- Vodafone Mail works fine (POP)
- IE (only http://www.vodafone.de) works fine
- Every other page (also wsp://live.vodafone.de) The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
Add Proxy 139.007.029.001 like it is written in some "Threads":
- Vodafone Mail --> did not work any longer. Sync error (Could not establish connection)
- No IE connection is possible.
Any idea?
Thanks. Bye.

Reversing the Vodafone cab file
Hi Sub69
I have been able to use Vodafone Live TV fine on my TyTn II for sometime but recently I wanted to look on a site that won't work as it said that my phone had been detected as a Symbian S60 unit and wanted me to download a .sis file which obviously won't work on the TyTn II. Have you got a cab file that does the reverse of the vodafone Live cab file and reverts the TyTn back to a WM6 device as far as some programs are concerned. I will then be able to toggle between the 2 as and when I need to.
Thanks

Cingular (AT&T) Video in the States

Has anyone been able to get onto AT&T's (Cingular's) Streaming video site with their unlocked TyTN II here in the States?
http://cingularvideo.cingular.com/
It does not detect the phone as a 3D phone, or so it says.
I had no problems getting to the http://device.home/ page though.
I just get a blank, white screen.
doesn't work for me either... Same error. Not a 3G phone.

isn't there a reg hack where you trick the the CV side into thinking you have a Samsung Blackjack, which is a supported device?
This link has a 8525.cab that allows you to get technical difficulties (for me at least, i don't have wireless.cingular.com:80 set as proxy)
http://www.gadgetech.info/treo/hacks/registry/
shogunmarks cab with realplayer could be your huckleberry too

I dont remember the exact change (been a while) but yeah look in the Hermes forum....also you will find MANY threads so look for the newer ones as ATT and WM6 went through stages of what works for this. It is a PIE issue.
Read into the first dozen posts or so:
I don't live in a 3G area so I can't test...

I got it too work, no problem. Below are my instructions.
TyTN II Users
Here are the instructions for access MediaNet and Cingular Video, or just about any at&t/Cingular link just like on the Tilt.
It’s really simple to access MediaNet. Even on at&t branded phones you have to switch from My ISP to MediaNet so you can access the MN home page or Cingular video. Here is how you do it.
Go to START, SETTINGS and select CONNECTIONS.
In the connections, select CONNECTIONS Icon.
At the bottom, select ADVANCED tab.
You will see a SELECT NETWORKS option.
Under Network Management, change the first option for MY ISP to MEDIANET.
Now click ok and reselect TASK (bottom left tab). Now your Connections now say MediaNet with a proxy option below it. We need to verify the proxy info is correct.
Select edit my proxy server, then select Advanced. You will see a window with server/proxy info. The first one is HTTP. It should have the following (wireless.cingular.com:80). If it doesn’t, select HTTP and enter the info. Now check SOCKS. It should have (LOCALHOST:1080). Again, enter it if needed.
Now you’re done. You only had to do this one time. When you done with MediaNet, all you do is switch back to MY ISP for normal surfing.
Before you continue, you have to make a change in your registry so that the proxy knows your phone as a branded phone. I choose the Tilt for this.
If you know how to use a registry editor, then look for this entry on you phone.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent]
"CustomBase"="HTC_TyTN_II Mozilla/4.0"
You need to change the CustomBase to HTC-8900/1.2 Mozilla/4.0
This is what is listed for the Tilt
Save your settings and that’s it. By changing that info on my TyTN II, I am now able to access Cingular Video and MediaNet home page. I had to change my connection from My ISP to MediaNet so it would go through the Proxy.
I can now access my account information and a bunch of other areas I wasn't before on my TyTN II.
Cv http://cingularvideo.cingular.com
MN http://device.home
Note: In order to play the videos, you can download a PocketPC version of Real Player since the files are in RM format.
Does your HTTP setting stay?
Whenever I set the http to wireless.cingular.com I can then get to the CV but then after a while the screen says it cannot connect to the internet. I went back to the http setting and learned the http setting to wireless.cingular.com is not there anymore. Looks like it doesn't want to stay there.
I changed my registry to make it think I am using an AT&T Tilt instead of the HTC TyTN II.
Can anyone help?
Got It Working
I only had to do this on my HTC ADVANTAGE...
If you know how to use a registry editor, then look for this entry on you phone.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent]
"CustomBase"="HTC_TyTN_II Mozilla/4.0"
You need to change the CustomBase to HTC-8900/1.2 Mozilla/4.0
MEdia Net Proxy info
I believe that the proxy info for the MEdia Net as ISP is hard coded into the ROM as it was for the Hermes.
So all you would really need to do is revise the "model" info for PIE in the registry to what they said earlier.
Do you need to do something to get RealPlayer to stream the video? I'm able to get to the video pages, but when I try to play them, they download instead (wow, there goes all my RAM!)
I did find that this only works in IE, my Opera browser still gives the error page for Cingular Video.
Read what I posted here. http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?k=99281
When you select a video to play, it downloads a video.ram file, which contains nothing but a URL. Real Video opens this video.ram file, reads the internet URL, and then plays the video from that URL.
Note: Each time you select a video from the web site, it'll download and overwrite the last video.ram file you downloaded/saved.
Okay, changing the network settings on RP seems to have fixed it.Thanks for the great guide!

Check your e-mail accounts. POP/IMAP accounts allow you to set the connection they will use. If they don't match "Media Net" and go out to check e-mail, you'll get this error because the mail doesn't think the network's available.
There's also a setting in RealPlayer to specify the network that I had to manually change. Once I did all that, I was watching The Colbert Report clips on my phone.
ha im an idiot i was getting the temp difficluties screen but i was connected to wifi took it off and im fine that was dumb but i just tried a video and got failed to connect! lol well ill see if i did somethign else dumb lol
switched the real player settings to mn and were all good
That fix worked for me! I am able to surf/check e-mail while using the MediaNet connection - is there any real need to switch connections all the time? It seems about as fast as my non-proxy connections, but perhaps it isn't.
i can get the list of videos playingm, but when i click on it to watch it, it says " can not connect" real player......how can i change this
any still having problems with real player here u go
Go to ur tmp-file folder (normally "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp\"
u will find quite a lot of folders in there, but if u search (f3) for files ending with *.cab there will pop one file named:
"realplayer.cab" ^^
copy it to ur ppc by using active sync
this worked for me hope for u too
I have tried all of these things and it still tells me the clip is unplayable.

HTC Kaiser / Vodafone v1615 - Vodafone live access

Folks,
Used to have a HTC Universal (Vodafone v1640) that I never got working with Vodafone Live in the UK. Now have a v1615 (Kaiser) and wondering if this device can be made to work and access Vodafone Live.
I'm fairly technically literate (though not an expert!) and have to admit to getting a touch lost on a couple of things I've read on various websites. Not to sure how to change registry settings on my machine, but no probs learning, and very familiar with all the standard wap settings etc required.
My v1640 used to just hang if i pointed it to "www.live.vodafone.com", my Kaiser will now access the site but gives the following error in Explorer:
"Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.live.vodafone.com
The dnsserver returned:
Name error: The domain name does not exist.
This means that:
The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL. Check if the address is correct"
I never got this error message on the 1640 - it just sat there and did nothing. So i'm wondering if this is any further progress or not? Or are these HTC devices (as Vodafone confirmed today) just not meant to connect to Live without serious tweaking.
I am more than happy to have a hack at my machine but am slightly lost at where to start here in order to achieve this on my brand new device for which there still doesn't seem to be much info.
Have Vodafone got this device almost ready to access Live? Or is one of the posts i've seen somewhere just a fantasy?!
All I really need is just a basic guide going through it with this new device.
Can't believe Vodafone don't have this working in the first place...
Thanks.
Isn't it live.vodafone.com rather than www.live.vodafone.com?
yes, and you need some proxy settings as well to use it. the only way I got Live.vodafone.com to work was by adding it as a modem connection under my work network if you are looking to use it as a data plan only and it will only work with EAS and PIE, no VOIP or messenger will work. As for using the vodafone live site, you need to change some regkey settings that will fool the the vodafone proxy to think that you have an approved handset for vodafone live, you should find examples in this forum if you search around, I think Modaco also has some entries on this. Bottom line is that Vodafone never intended to let it be used with PPC, because once they loose that control they cannot sell their services, advertise etc which is why it's a relatively useless solution for anyone who use their offer of 500 MB for 10 Eur or something along those lines.
Cheers
LBN
Thanks guys. Yes - it is just live.vodafone.com - was too busy with work...
Ok, starting to get an idea of what needs to be done. Have seen so many posts on various websites that I wasn't quite sure where to start.
I'm guessing that changing the regkey settings is the first thing to try then? Is there an easy to use registry tweaking tool?
Been messing around for a while now and nothing I do seems to make any difference!
I've tried all kinds of different Reg Key settings, every combination of wap and internet access points, and nothing seems to change anything.
Basically no matter what i enter, (either wsp://live.vodafone.com or http://live.vodafone.com) it only connects through a wap connection, and it only brings up a very basic vodafoneLive series of text based web pages with no access to anything interesting.
Do WM6 devices such as mine have different Reg Key settings / areas that need modifying? I'm surprised that putting Nokia settings in, or any other setting has no effect at all!
Anyone??
The vodafone live portal requires a "template" to be present at the vodafone end which defines which screen size and content the device can handle. Unless Vodafone have created one for the v1615, you will need to alter the useragent to look like a device which does have a template...
Without a devices presenting its self as a supported device, you will not be able to access live services.
Why not look at the user agent of the Treo 500v? That is the frist real consumer WM device which has the ability to view the live portal.
Gotcha. Makes sense, thanks for the tip.
Any idea where to find details of a Treo 500v user agent?? Will give it a go if I know where to find one!
Hi,
Take a look at
http://www.modaco.com/Vodafone-Live-Settings-t259142.html
Guys,
I just got a Vodafone Treo 750v which i really like. but it doesn't have Vodafone Live or Mobile TV access on it as standard. I managed to get my Tytn II working (with your help and the Modaco forum) several months ago and now I'm trying to see if you or anyone can get my 750v working.
First thing i did was install a cab file (from the thread in the post above) on my machine and setup a wap connection and i was straight in to Vodafone Live all of a sudden. Got to mobile tv page but Windows media player wouldn't connect via wap. So went to xda-developers page and downloaded the HTC v2.10 streaming player and installed it and set it up to connect via wap.
Success, almost - choosing a channel to watch now launches the HTC player and starts to buffer the video but when it gets to almost 100% buffered and is ready to start showing video it suddenly hangs, then has an error and wants to send an error log to Microsoft. Its almost like the HTC player is missing something or some codec or dll file.
Anyone know how to crack this last bit? Anyone use a different Streaming media player to do this?
Hope someone can help!
Paul

Logmein problem, please help

I am having a problem with logmein from my phone.
a bit of a background.
I'm loggin into a Windows XP machine.
I have the logmein free account.
I can use a PC and it logs me in just fine.
It works on my account from my friends Sprint Mogul PPC just fine with WM6 and ractre cab
No matter what ROM on my Kaiser, it gets the same error
No matter what browser I use on my Kaiser, it gets the same error.
The problem. I have the cab installed already that I DLd from logmein.com. I go to logmein.com and type in my login info/pass. I click "logmein".
about 1 in (5-50) times it will then take me to the screen where I can select my computer. The other 4-49 times, it takes me back to the login screen where you enter your login info. There arent any error messages or anything. I then click "back" in PIE and hit the submit button again. repeat this a ton of times until it logs me in.
The next screen is where you select your computer. The same thing happens here, and it will bring me to the login screen. Click back and submit again and million times and eventually it will work.
Once I get to the screen where you can click "Remote control" this works fine.
I've asked on logmeins forums and no responses. I emailed their tech support and no responses.
I dont know what to do at this point except move to different software.
any ideas?
I assumed you did a serach for Logmein?

Yes. and I assume you read the part where i've already installed that?
it works for me after....
running the disable cingular proxy cab.
I used to get the exact issue you have on my Tilt. Here's what I've found to work.
Run the disable Cingular Proxy cab (search around, its everywhere in these forums) PRIOR to entering your username/pass.
If i have done this, it will go the 1st and every time to the my computers list and then i can RC from there.
If i forget to run it and i hit "the loop", you can leave IE running and run the cab from a file explorer, then switch back to IE and try again.
Annoying, i know...this coupled with the need to use IE rather than Opera Mini are definite cons to using Logmein on WinMo, but I still need to almost everyday.
Let me know if you can't get this solution to work for you.
I tried that and it didnt work.
Downloaded disable cingular proxy cab.
rebooted.
ran disable cing proxy cab
ran PIE
went to logmein.com
logged in (that part went fine)
clicked on computer.
it took me to login page.
rebooted
ran pie
ran disable cing proxy cab
went to logmein
tried loggin in.
looped =/
Nobody has a good answer for this that I have been able to find. You can try loggin in on LogMeIn's PDA site, https://secure.logmein.com/pda That stopped the endless log in loop problem for me, and I can get to my computer groups. However, I can't remotely control anything. I click the computer I want, enter the password, and it brings up a screen with whatever options that computer has (just Remote Control for LogMeIn Free, Remote Control and File Manager for LogMeIn Pro.) You click Remote Control, and it doesn't do anything, just brings you right back to the same screen. File Manger DOES work on the computer I have LogMeIn Pro on, but I really need the Remote Control. It is maddening, nobody at LogMeIn or any other phone forums seems to know why this is happening. I never had the proxy setup to begin with, everybody keeps talking about proxies like that's the problem, but disabling the proxies doesn't solve the problem for a huge number of folks. I've been able to find solutions to all my other Tilt problems with a little diligent googling, but not this one. I'd love an answer myself!
sorry...
sorry guys..
I have tried almost every kaiser rom here, and at least half of the wizard ones when i had that and the logmein has been a thorn in my side as well, except for me the toggle of disable/enable proxies works every time.
I wish you both luck in your searches for a more universal answer to this problem.
the real key is a fully supported solution from logmein...
Are you using PIE Plus or another multi tab browsing utility? The happens to me with PIE Plus, but only if I select Pocket View in the view settings.

but i was trying to use it w/ Opera
it only works w/ internet explorer.
people said it does not work w/ WM6
that is false.
it looped continuously w/ that loggin crap until
i did the following.
TO GET IT TO WORK:
uninstall RACtrlCE.cab if already installed.
clear IE cookies.
soft reset
download the RACtrlCE
on your PC via

the cab is in the above post link scroll to find it.
transfer the cab via
exchange connection.
install cab on your phone.
then soft reset.
go to www.logmein.com
which should automatically redirect
you to https://secure.logmein.com/pda.
log in and u should b in business!
Okay, I post a question in this thread & what happens????
Now everytime I log into Logmein.com I connect fine but about every five minutes I lose the connection & get an "Invalid IP Address" error. Anyone have this problem? I tried adding my own IP but then I can't connect period. Anyone know a fix?

Followed these exact steps. still loops for me X 1000
I tried installing to device, then my storage card, repeating all steps.
The odd thing is that I downloaded minimozilla (mobile firefox) and it logs in JUST FINE) but of course stops at the point where it would show you the desktop. but has ZERO issues loggin in.
*SIGH*
Anyword on a fix for Mismatched IP Address error?
i dont have anything on the mismatched ip thing.
I did manage to solve my problem on my own.
So anyone else still having this problem:
start|settings|connections|connections|Advanced Tab|Select Networks
In the top drop down, select the tab for the internet that you use (Medianet, etc)
Click edit.
Bottom tab click proxy settings.
Uncheck "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet"
Click ok.
The cab that is supposed to do this didnt work for me. but doing this manually works for me.
Working perfect on Blackstone with the cab downloaded from logmein.com with Internet explorer. Not working in Opera.
My steps:Opened https://secure.logmein.com/pda from IE, logged in to my account, then when i pressed connect logmein forced me download THEIR RACtrice .cab ,installed, restarted IE,and i'm in bussiness.

MDA Compact IV - O2 GPRS Internet

I have an unlocked T-mobile MDA Compact Iv (aka Touch Diamond) which is now on O2 with a web bolt on. I've configured it as per the instructions from O2 but I can not get the internet to work.
If I select IE, input a web address it says 'cannot connect'.
It does come set up with T-Mobile Web N Walk and when I go into connection settings it says T-Mobile Internet 'this connection is pre-configured and can not be modified' but it does allow me to add a new modem connection (which is what the O2 instructions say to do).
I'm guessing its trying to use the pre-configured T-mobile settings. How can I get it to use the new O2 connection I've just set up?
try this (see attached cab) it from my o2 ignito!
there is a cab on the forums somewhere ! i cant rememer the exact name its something like "setup operator" or "operator config" just do a search
oh yeah im assuming yopur in the uK with that cab
You may wish to look at the link in my signature if you're using the HSDPA (3G) connection from o2 UK.

dont bother with that cab just tried it on mine ! installs but doesnt work
the other point, No im not refering to advance config! i wll try to look for it again! in the meantime may be some else can find it for you
Managed to get it working.
If you go into Settings-> Connections->Connections
It say 'T-Mobile Internet. This connection is pre-configured and can not be modified'. You then have 'My Work Network' which is were I added the O2 settings but this wasn't working.
If you click the Advanced Tab and then 'Select Networks' the first question is 'Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using -' and there is the choice of T-Mobile Internet (the default) and my Work Network. By changing this to 'My Work Network' it will pick up the O2 connection I have added under Work Network getting round the pre-configured T-Mobile settings.

[Q] HTC TD2 & WPA Enterprise EAP PEAP MSchapV2

is it possible to connect to WPA Enterprise networks via WiFi? because I'm searching for a ROM which would allow to connect to the network on my university, which runs the following configuration:
SSID: eduroam
type: WPA-Enterprise
key exchange scheme: TKIP
authorization: EAP-PEAP-MSchapv2
IP: via DHCP
I tried it with the Energy ROM from the forum, but it doesn't allow me to enroll the certificate or it doesn't want to accept it. the other way round it doesn't allow me to enter a user name, I can only put in my password.
could somebody give me a hint what to do? I was searching the forum, found some registry hacks, but none worked
Try to change:
HKLM\\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\WPAMixedMode
from 1 to 0.
ok, I tried it, but still the same happens:
I enter everything in the configuration menu of the comm manager, click 'next' and then I have to choose a certificate to log on - a little bit lower is a button called 'Enroll', which does nothing when hit. When I try to click 'done' it says that I have to enroll a certificate, so there's only cancel left ...
still doesen't work
well ... can somebody help please?
//edit:
well, as it seems nobody really knows how to work that out ...
Because I'm at my university every two weeks for the weekend, I'll be able to test this way of trying to connect to the WPA enterprise network in a week. but perhaps somebody else can confirm or obey this workaround:
Connect your device to your desktop/laptop and when WindowsMobileDeviceCenter (Win 7: just type the name in the search field in the start bar) opens go to Mobile Device settings >> More >> Get Device Certificates >> I know What Certificate I need to Enrol >> User ... then click enroll. Watch your device as you will be prompted to install the cert. Follow the prompts and after a few seconds you're done. When you setup your wifi connection choose PEAP and enter all the needed information.

It's help I got from microsoft social answers, perhaps somebody can try that out ...?
in case you understand german
http://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/fileadmin/internet_kommunikation/smartphone/htc-hd2_uhh-wpa.pdf
it's from my university. it also contains the instructions for eduroam.
in addition to that manual, I had to uncheck "check server certificate" in the certificate tab of the secureW2 plug-in

yes, indeed, I understand german
thanks a lot for this tip, it looks a little bit different on a customized ROM and stuff, but in general it worked - I'll try it on friday or saturday, then I'll be at my university and able to give feedback!
when it'll work, I'll post a translated how-to in this thread...
sorry, I wasn't able to establish the connection with the tip by jones23 ... perhaps it works with WPA2, but not here ...
Hello,
what is the status of this? Did you find a solution?
I have the same issue since I flashed the EnergyROM.
Any ideas?
unfortunately it's truely not possible, I wasn't able to connect to the configuration from the first post using the HTC Diamond II ... damn thing!
but I'm gonna try this weekend something different: imho it's just a software problem, it's got nothing to do with hardware ... so I'm gonna try a dual boot with android and connect with that, perhaps this will work. I'll give feddback
ok, during clicking around on the device I found the solution:
Comm Manager -> Settings -> WLAN -> Network Cards
Here you can ignore the certificate and enter login data for the WIFI network.
Hopefully someone else can use this information.
@ taschenuhr
thats great to hear
@ others
perhaps you can use a notebook for testing purposes, since the connection & login data is the same. there's a windows (mac) version of that same client software.
