Palm Treo750 ROM updates - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

For:
Spanish
English
German
French
Italian..
...HERE...

So... which update is this, and for some reason it doesn't take the serial number that is in my Treo.

I have just bootloaded it and this are the specs that came out:
ROM Update
Generic ROW
Firmware: 1.54.0.00 --> newer than 3AU
CC-Cap: GEN-ENG-005
Carrier DB: 296
WM6 version: 5.2.1239 (Build 17746.0.2.4)
Changes I noticed:
- the operator logo (when turning the radio on and off) disappeared! WOOHOO! Not that I minded the Vodafone logo since I do use a Voda sim, but incase I change sims, atleast now I dont have an operator logo..
- the click sounds have reverted back to being non-existent (which I think is the norm for WM6).. but I missed it from WM5 so I loaded the fix for the sounds..
- Band selection I remember was around 4 options, now there is only 2 - [1]GSM (900+1800)+UMTS 2100; [2]GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)

Direct link
Anyone with a direct link to these?

What's the SPL version in this updater?
EDIT: Answered my own question - it's the same as all other leaks/releases...bummer.

I have official Voda for my 750v. Simple question: does it worth updating with this one?
I mean if theres no significant difference it does NOT

unbranded eng here:

just so you know, this is the AT&T update we have all been waiting for... according to palm support

I Take That Back, After Further Question,, The At&t Update Is Still Forth Coming

My Phones Serial Number Won't Let Me Download It,, So I Used The Direct Link. I Try To Install And It Says Unsupported Device... Any Help?

Thanks to hb88xx link, i've been able to change the EN to FR in the direct D/L link and then I got: http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palm.com/Treo750_2_23_ROW_FR_DesktopUpdater.zip

You need to update via the SD method, search the forum for further details about it, there are hundreds of post.

so how do u update the sf version if u use the sd method?

Read up on the bootloader method (it's mentioned here quite a bit). Pretty simple:
- Back up everything important off the device as it'll all get wiped. Make sure your battery is well charged too (don't want it going flat mid-update)
- Extract the updater from the .zip file using Winrar or similar. Then when you get the .exe file, extract this as well - you'll get a whole bunch of files
- Look for a file called CHEEIMG_FW.NBH
- Rename this file to CHEEIMG.NBH and put it in the root directory of your memory card (make sure it's formatted in FAT32)
- Put the phone in bootloader mode (hold down the bottom side (PTT) button and the reset button under the miniSD flap together)
- The phone should then go into bootloader mode, detect the firmware on the card, and prompt you to install it by pressing the power button> Just follow the on-screen instructions, and soft reset when it tells you it's finished!

Thanks for your help Ben, after extracting the rar file and then extracting the exe. file I found the file that you were referring to. I guess last time when i downloaded the Wm6 it already has been extracted by the poster.

To change from GER to WWE will this work?

In my prev. post i was still struggling to find the detials of my phone. I have managed that but now i cannot find the right upgrade for WWE.
I decided to download the latest T-Mobile GER version and installed it. This works well i think. Would it now be ok to Download the T-Mobile version from T-Mobile UK (ie WWE version)? Naturally i would have to edit it before installing.
Please let me know soon! I need my MDA for work!!

OK, you need to update your MDA3 to UK spec..? Assuming you're on the T-Mobile Network, you need to follow these steps..
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.42.00_Upgrade
More so, as you're going to get the Country Code Error (as the MDA3 thinks it's German as opposed to WWE) then you'll need to pay particular attention to the statements at the bottom of the page.. I have pasted them for you..
Wiki said:
However, if you are installing a rom on a device other than that which it is meant for, you will get a Device ID error, so follow these steps:
First Method (Quick/Easy) (TYPE II)
Download update to desktop
Unrar or unzip all files in exe or rar into a new folder
Open the folder with the extracted files
Download this file: MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP
Extract MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from this file and place it with the other upgrade files.
Run this new exe file instead of BaUpgradeUt.exe to update your rom
If you get an error the first time, run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe again without touching your device (don't take it out from the cradle, don't reset it, don't touch it at all!)

Remember, you need to be sure you know what you're doing.. Be sure you read everything on Wiki (Link in Signature) and ask yourself "Am I sure I know all the information before I press the "Update" Botton..?
Finally, you can then update your Radio (if desired) to the latest 1.15 Spec from the 1.13 seen in this ROM.. But, one step at a time, eh..?
Let us know how you get on..
Cheers!
Thanks for the info MrPhilly,
Just to clarify matters, i am not on the T-mobile network but on the Go Mobile network in Malta.
Ill try following your insructions and let you know!
Cheers!!
MrPhilly,
Thanks very much!! It worked!! Ill see how i get along without further updates for now. As you said.....one step at a time!!

Excellent - Glad to hear it worked..
Don't forget to update your settings from your Airtime supplier for the MMS, etc etc..
Have you tried to 1.15 Radio Stack Update..? What you could have done there was to replace the 1.13 Radio file with the 1.15 File and update everything at once.. However, like you say, one step at a time..
Im going to try updating the radio stack now so fingers crossed! thanks again

Downgrading WinMob 5 to Win2003SE

Hi there
I'm trying to downgrade my Qtek9090. I have WinMob 5 and I want it to be the Rom from http://www.orange.ch/offers/orangePhones/spvM2000/spvM2000Rom?ts=1144157178509.
Now, I got the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and I did just use it like its written...
Now I have Win2003se but none of that stuff provided by Orange in this Rom (At the first start it said some stuff was missing and it xould be deleted). Then I tried again without the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and still get a country error...
Do I have to re-partition the memory like I did for the WM5 update?
Thx for answers...
greetz
Well for wm5 you most lickly got rid of your ext rom as you wanted it for storage.
So now there is no place to flash the extrom so the cabs that are part of the extrom do not run and thus you get no ORANGE related files.
What you need to do is create a new EXT rom partion and flash the rom again.
This time you can delete the radio.nbf and the NK.nbf and just leave the MS.nbf (it will be a lot faster).
First of all, thanks for the reply!
great...now, how do I do it? Do I need a special size of the rom?
Sorry to say this but.....
Please read wiki
Ta
For more info you can read here
omfg this looks like work..
Sorry MDAIIIUser I used the search button (but only for the forum, my bad)...But anyway, I know you are very busy just read some threads while waiting for an answer...But you're doing a great job...All of the people here in fact...
i'm also downgrading to WM2003SE according to the directions on wiki,
BUT i have 2 questions:
1. i bought my qtek 9090 as a stand-alone qtek9090 (so not combined with a provider). does this mean i don't need the Extended ROM?
2. i aksed this question in another topic aswell, but lateron i found that this topic is more acurate to my question..so sorry for that!
here's the question:
in the manual, it says I have to download my latest favorite WM2003SE ROM version (which in my case is the Dutch Qtek DANGA001 version 1.40.00, EXTROM 1.40.556),
and FROM that file i should copy the nk.nbf to my "\DOWNGRADE TO WM2003SE\" folder..
and THAT'S what seems impossible to me, since the Rom-update i downloaded is an .exe application, and not a .zip or .rar archive..
so how should i get/extract/copy the nk.nbf file out of this Rom-update .exe file..?
i simply skipped that step but now my device keeps crashing every minute (even DURING soft and hard resets!)
HELP!

execute the application and search in C:\Documents and settings\NAME\Local settings\Temp for your file.
if you don't find it, continue on your application and try again.
thats how i had to do extract the files from my swisscom update file (wich was an exe file too)
I downgraded my spv m2000 from wm5 to 2003 and everything is fine apart from the phone doesn't work.
It just says no service all the time, can anyone help please?
Thanks.
Check the radio version on the boot screeen to see if the device sees it.
Check that you see the version under settings.
Check that you have a sim in the device
Check that you not in flight mode.
ok now onit thanks for the quick reply
Be also aware that in the boot process the radio can sometimes not load, no know reason for this but fixed with a soft reset (stick up the hole).
My device sees the radio version on the boot screen (1.06.02)
I can see the version under settings and i have a sim in and flight mode is off but still no luck.
Shall i try another sim?
Try your sim in another phone (and another sim in that phone).
What do you see at the top of the screen (should be a bar chart with an x) if you have no link.
I put another sim in and now it's all fine GPRS and Phone works
thanks for the help.
Would the device be affected if you had a pin code on the sim?
The sim code is only for the sim card.
Without the sim pin code you can not unlock the sim card.
Thus the radio will not connect to a carrier and you will not beable to phone out.
A phone lock is a lock that stops you putting in a different sim card into the phone (thus you need to stay with the same carrier)
This is a device lock and needs to be unlocked on the device to be able to put in a different sim from a different carrier.
Tool found on wiki
I would think that your first sim is either no longer valid (out of date or is a pre-paid with no money) or it has a sim lock that you dont not have the pin code of and failed to mention that it asked you for it.
Anyway have fun with the BA and read wiki for more info.
Thanks

WM6 in other language than English ?

Palm released the WM6-Update in English now.
How long will they need to release the update in other languages, for example German ?
I asked Palm but they even have no planned release date they could tell ....................

Thank you for contacting Palm(tm) Technical Support.

Unfortunately we do not have a date for the release, but the "coming soon" shoul mean about a month.

Vodafone Austria has just released the german update >>> www.a1.net/treo
Thanks for you info.
As far as i can see the update version is Treo750-2.18 carrier code VFD,
so Vodafone German.
I'll give it a try.

pls, give us a feedback

Can u give us a feedback on such things as:
Are the alternate symbols working, i.e. umlaute like ä,ö,ü with on click, or do u still have to hit the navkey three times down to choose them?
What kind of branding does this rom offer? A1 or Vodafone splashscreen for powering on and off the phone? Any waste of storage, like program links known from the att rom?
I am really looking forward reeding u'r experiences.
The only branding in this Rom is the Vodafone logo at startup and shutdown. No additional crap and apps like in the AT&T one.To get rid of the Vodafone logo you could make the Treo vanilla by deleting the extrom as described in other threads here.To get the Umlauts just press the alt key.
After the vanilla procedure
CC-Cap : 000-000-001
Carrier DB: 251
Free memory
Data: 54.65 MB
Programs: 28.53 MB
Firmware and OS-build are the same as in the English Vodafone-Version.
The Software-Version remains unchanged.
Well, I cannot update. When I start the original Update I'll get the error, that the update isn't for my device. I have a REGULAR Treo 750 not the Vodafone branded one. So I know it's not the "right" one. Where do I get a patched RUU.exe or something?
I expanded the Updater .exe-File and started the T750URT.exe and he Flashed a ROM, and as there's only one, namely CHEEIMG_FW.nbh I thought I would have WM 6 on it, but I didn't.
So can it be, that I have to unlock my device? Or is it an other problem?
To upgrade you can use the SD-card method described in this forum.
Or try this one:
- start the updater, stop at the first screen
- look at your temp directory, there is a new folder created
- edit the file "payloads.xml", in the section "carrier codes" replace the 3 letters with the letters you see on your treos system info
- go on with the updater (start update)
good luck
calico
have you tried to take the way with the Flashcard?
rename the Cheeimg_fw.nbh to cheeimg.nbh
format the SD-Card, copy file on it, reset while pressing the button below the volume-control and wait
A 750v (what you'll get - Imho) is not able to pull the Mailboxnumber from your Sim (if it's not a VF one) and it is not editable.
Can you imagine to make an Image of your original 750? Because it's german.

If you tell me how, I would surely make an image of my treo 750 without V before upgrading to wm6. I would also love to have an backup, but i got no idea how to do it. And there's no Information in the Wiki.
hmm,
there must be some dump tools in the ftp area. I've never done this, so I can't tell you how to.

Will search buzz's site but if I can't find anything there and nobody can tell how to dump, I will upgrade without a previous dump.

Need English ROM for Samsung Omnia SGH-i900/i908

WARNING! FLASHING USING GRANDPRIX DISASTERS
Everyone who wants to upgrade their ROM using GrandPrix please take this VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
You may kill your phone!
The i900DXHG4_PDA.bin file provided by chamid is the PDA ROM only. Samsung Omnia ROM has 4 different parts:
1. LOADER (also known as EBOOT)
2. PDA
3. CSC
4. PHONE
The disaster is that if you use the i900DXHG4_PDA.bin file incorrectly loaded into any other part rather than PDA, you will destroy that part. Look at the 3rd image attachement to see how I actually destroyed my Phone part using GrandPrix... It's no accident, the program forced me to click the PHONE button to load that .bin file.
Here are 3 case study for your beleive:
1. Myself: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2553644&postcount=15
2. KChauJen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2554307&postcount=22
3. mr_tormoz: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2559075&postcount=49
You may explore the rest of this thread to see how we tried to solve the problem after destroying the Phone part. Good luck with your upgrades and play it safe!
THE ENGLISH ROM SOLUTION:
2 Methods
I - Using Official Updater (recommended)
Download the Official updater from here: Download Singaporean i900DXHG4
You will get 3 files:
1. Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 (optional)
2. SamsungModem_xp.zip (Samsung Modem Driver)
3. i900DXHG4 updater_xp.exe (Samsung Omnia Firmware Uupgrade)
Follow the instruction from Samsung.
If you encounter the "Incorrect Software Version" message you can find solution here: Incorrect Software Version
If that still doesn't work, try i900DZHG3, you can download from here: Download i900DZHG3
The latest ROM at the moment is DXHH1 (reconstructed, tested OK): Download i900DXHH1
For other ROMs and how to avoid the "Incorrect Software Version", click here
II - Using GrandPrix (not recommended for beginner)
Update 28 Aug 2008: I found a very comprehensive guide how to update to HH1.
If using the Official updater doesn't work, you may choose this alternative method.
1. download GrandPrix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=108238&stc=1&d=1219556479
2. download the PDA ROM binary file here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ne0nalozyy2
3. You will get i900DXHG4_PDA.rar, extract it.
3.1 Copy the Grandprix folder to the root dir of your windows XP ex C:\Grandprix then put your image files PDA.bin etc in the Grandprix folder. This way when you click on PDA it will immediately find the file. (suggested by bobsbbq)
4. Run GrandPrix,
4.1 Set the profile to Grandprix LV image (reminded by bobsbbq)
4.2 click the PDA button and browse for i900DXHG4_PDA.bin. Caution: Do not mount the file to the Phone button, otherwise your PDA is doomed, read above warning.
4.3 if the PDA button doesn't detect i900DXHG4_PDA.bin, then you should use Explorer, right click on the file and click "Open With..." and then browse for the GrandPrix program.
5. Click Detect & restart your PDA. The process will be done in bootloader mode, so no ActiveSync required.
NOTE: I do not take responsibility if you destroy your phone function using this guide. You MUST read the whole thread before deciding to use GrandPrix. Goodluck.
THE ORIGINAL THREAD STARTER
Hi guys,
I'm struggling for so many days trying to flash my Omnia ROM into English. Here is what happened.
I bought this PDA online in China. It turned out to be from Philippine. It has SGH-i900 model written on the label under the battery.
The PDA version was i900DZHG1/DZHG1
The ROM version was i900DXHG1, as shown on the "original ROM.jpg" image.
Here are the steps I did before asking for help:
1. I searched all over the Internet using Google. Explored all xda-developers.com and other PDA forums.
2. I found the ROM from Samsung Omnia for SGH-i900 here: http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/index.jsp
3. I tried to flash my Omnia, it says "Incorrect Software Version".
4. I followed the instruction to fix the "Incorrect Software Version" problem here: http://www.modaco.com/content/samsu...ftware-version-when-updating-fix/#entry908015
The numbers worked, I found out the preconfiguration already was Singapore. Tried to reapplied that succesfully, but still "Incorrect Software Version".
5. I found this ROM SGH-i908 from here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/bjfs0b .
The upgrade process worked. But it turned out to be Chinese again. Now it has the following tech details: PDA: i908ZHHG8, as shown on the "i908 ROM.jpg" image
6. I tried to flash the SGH-i900 ROM provided for Singapore again. The same problem.
So HELP! I need your help. It's too time consuming. I already tried my best but it's just not working.
I know people used to cook ROM. Is there any cooked English ROM for this Omnia? If not, does anyone have a software to extract the ROM from the upgrade .exe file and use a custom program to flash the ROM with it?
I should also mention here that I already tried "hard reset" but it's not working at all. It's nearly impossible to hard reset this PDA, and when it finally hard-reset, the "Incorrect Software Version" message still on.
Have you tried using the Omnia updater again after flashing the i908 rom?
There is another thread here which had a HG5 rom. However, no details were given as to which rom it belongs:

Yes, I forgot to mention I did try again after having the i908 installed. No hope
mmm I have a feeling you need to wait for a higher build or someone to cook a custom rom. From what I've read elsewhere you cannot flash to a lower(official)build in Omnia. I could very well be wrong.

I myself am looking for some way to "hack" these files. I wish someone can do it. Samsung is so strange when requiring the device to be connected via MS ActiveSync. The Chinese version one did it on the bootloader mode.
Hi guy, your situation is exactly like mine. But finally i managed to upgrade the rom to offical G4 version.
Some keynote:
First upgrade to English G3 rom , then G4
If you got "Incorrect software version", do this:
* Press the 'dial' key to the left of the optical pad to bring up the dialer
* With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*#
* Select 'Preconfiguration'
* Enter code *#81230*# and select OK
* Select 'Singapore', with the default Operator
* Accept this, DEVICE WILL HARD RESET
* Run update, and all should be well.
If you can't find the rom donwload link, please feel free to ping me.
BTW, I've tried a lot to cook the rom. Now I can rip the PDA part from the .exe upgrader, and extract all files from it. Then repack them to the nb0, but now have no idea to convert the nb0 to the B000F format.

GrandPrix flash the bootloader part using the nb0 format, but the pda part bin format. The only thing I need is to convert the pda.nb0 to pda.bin, then flash it.

Not sure if i780 kitchen tools work, but you can search for famusc kitchen tools and in it, there is a pdf instructions on how to convert from part02.raw to nb0.payload back to nb0 and finally to flashable bin.
Again, just a warning, this MAY NOT work on an Omnia.

*** Tutorial: Flashing ROMs (...and debranding the X1) ***

About this thread: I will explain how to get a new firmware/ROM on your new X1
To debrand the phone you just flash a different ROM. You also do the same thing to change from EN to GER, or to flash a customized ROM. So it's the same procedure for all of those actions (making it easier to write this tutorial ;-)).
Step 1 has to be done only once. For every following ROM you might want to flash, Step 2 is all you need to do. So let's start:
Step 1 (Preparations)
- Download and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
- If you are using Vista, install the Mobile Device Center 6.1
- Set up the ActiveSync (XP) / Mobile Device Center (Vista) connection with your X1
- Charge the battery to at least 50% or more
- (Re)Connect the X1
- Run X1_HardSPL.exe
- Follow the instructions (it should say something like "Image Version: 1.02.111.7" to "1.00.X1")
- If asked, press "Yes" on the X1
- Now a 4-color screen should show up, showing some version Info
- After that, a progressbar screen will be shown and the phone will reboot when finished
- Click "Finish" on the PC
- If you want to check if everything went fine, turn the device off (long power button press), then hold the "volume down" button and turn the device on again, still holding the "volume down" button until the 4-color screen shows up. It should read something like:
KOVS110
SPL-0.72.OliNex
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
- Remove and reinsert the battery to exit bootloader mode
You completed the first step and are now able to flash any ROM you want to your X1! (Well, at least any ROM made for the X1 of course ;-))
Step 2 (Flashing ROMs)
Before you start you have to -obviously- download and extract the ROM you want to flash. The file should be named *.image or *.nbh. Before you follow the steps, rename that file to Kovsimg.nbh.
- Format a MicroSD card with FAT32 if not yet done
- Copy the Kovsimg.nbh into the root directory of your MicroSD card and insert the card in your phone
- Turn off the phone (USB cable not attached)
- Remove and reinsert the battery
- Hold the volume down button and turn the device on again, still holding both buttons until the 4-color screen shows up.
- Follow the onscreen instructions
Congratulations. You're done.

Hello, I have a "vodafonized" XPERIA from UK....despite I am Spanish .
I would like debranding it....but I don't speak germany at all....Life is very short to learn to speak germany.
If I follow your way, using a generic UK room instead "APP_SW_X1i_GENERIC_DE_1213-6439_CDF1215-3303_KOV_R1AA017.image.nbh" Do you think my XPERIA debranding right??
Thanks
Edited the first post in regard to the UK ROM.

Ignore my previous comment - I was being stupid, it was easy, and now I too am free of the Vodafone crap! Great thread - thanks!
I recieved a Dutch X1 from vodafone, what's the best way to unbrand this one ?
If you don't mind changing to an english version, just follow my first post and use the files for the English ROM I provided. Otherwise you will have to find a dutch ROM and follow the "Optional.." step.
I'm hoping someone can help me... I've followed all of the instructions but when I start up my phone in the 4-colour screen a message flashes up saying 'No image file!'. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Did you format your MicroSD card using FAT32? Did you put the image file on it and name it "kovsimg.nbh" ?
I did, I used an upper-case K, would that make a difference?
No that shouldn't make a difference. Perhaps just try formatting the card again and put the .nbh file in the root directory if you haven't already. If that doesn't work, I have no idea what the problem is :-(
I tried formatting it earlier and the only thing I put on there was the ROM file. How frustrating!
Debranding X1 Vodafone Germany
Has anybody already tried to debrand the X1 branded by Vodafone D2 (DE)?
Is it as easy as the other ones placed in this thread?
Has anybody the normal german ROM and not the customized version?
Or has anybody a ides how to change the registry for connecting with skype etc by using wifi?? This doesn`t work with Vodafone DE :-( ...
...thanks a lot!!

Hi
I bought an X1 in the Netherlands on Vodafone and as such it is in Dutch. If I follow the instructions on page 1 will it debrand the vodafone and set the language to UK and also remove the simlock or will it just change the language and debrand it.
Also for the UK rom does the one in the link have all the funtionality because the one in the quotes on page 1 states that it doesn't have the radio. I want to lose the Vodafone branding but not the standard functionality.
Ed
hey,
got x1 from netherlands with hi mobile network, but it appeared to be dutch, which is not really suitable for me. so decided to change the language, followed these instructions, but encountered some problems. when i run hrdspl, the three (+white) colour screen appears, but after that, i get and error in the pc, that a recovery should be run. after recovery tried few more times to do it, but couldn't succeed... any ideas?
thanks
@phenx
I've ordered an X1 and am expecting it shortly.
I've flashed and partially cooked quite a few ROM's for both my Polaris and X500, so I have an idea of what this thread means.
I looked at downloading the de-crapped English RUU-signed.nbh from your link, but since my device is unbranded, I don't need it.
BUT: the RAR file size is over 160Mb !! What the s...t is in that thing, apart from the XIP ?

Afaik, the X1 doesn't have a simlock no matter where you buy it. Flashing will remove the branding and change the language accordingly to the file you use. So you can change to german, english, italian etc.. just visit the link in the "optional" section for all possible choices.
the ROM is divided in different sections.. RADIO, OS etc. It's perfectly fine if you only flash the OS section. Then the RADIO section won't be touched and everything will work fine

Sorry I don't know.. perhaps someone in the HardSPL thread can help you.
@ianl8888
The demo movies, sounds, .tsk, .cabs etc. take quite a bit of storage. With that removed the size goes down to about 90MB.
