hi all,
I've just bought a 2nd-hand XDA iis and is battery is not so good.
So I intend to buy a new one.
But I'm wondering which bat is the best now.
I've gone to ebay and see that they have some types: original 1500 mAh, 2400mAh, "slim" 3200 mAh and "fat" 3600mAh.
I think the 3600mAh is the most suited for my xda.
Is there any better choice? Where could I buy it?
With the 3600mAh, how long would the xda would last if I use wifi IE with the lowest backlight?
Do any of you have any problems with it?
Could I use my old charger or Do I have to buy a bigger one?
Could I still use my usb-cable (not cradle) for charging my xda?
And is there any conflict with WM5? (I've just read in our forum that someone have problems with WM6).

I would say that primarly it would depend on if a 'fatter' and heavier phone bothers you.
Keep in mind that just about all the cases and various accessories that hold or clip on to the phone are designed for a phone that has the original battery, so a thicker battery may well make them unusable (cases are the primary example I would give).
How long it would last is impossible to say, as it depends on how you use the phone, what apps are on the phone, and so on. Also, 3rd party battery quality does vary. Which manufacture is the best, I can't say as I've never seen any place that reviews battery life.
I've never heard of any incompatibilities when talking about a particular version of win mobile and a certain capacity battery, and can't imagine that it's even possible.
Pick one and see what you get, then post the results here so the every one else can benefit from your experience.

At last, I've bought a fat 3600 battery and I think it's a good decision.
Now, I can use my fone for browse Internet in near 6 hour with wifi; or I could use it with 5 day stanby (how amazing).
some small problems are:
- the fone is thicker and heavier (no problem with me).
- My third party charger is a bit hotter.
- And the charging time is longer (ofcourse).
do not by batteries by ACME power. I have bought 2400mAh and feel no difference compare to standard old battery. Besides, I have troubles with bt. it turns off by its self with only this battery.
I bought a battery for my Htc Harrier about 4-5 months ago. Sorry i dont know the brand of it but its says its 3200mah and "replacement for XDAIII". The inside of the battery is kind of bloated out from the heat and looks a little dodgy but still works. Ive had a few problems with it where it powers off for no reason. When i turn it on again the battery charge looks fine.
Just a couple of days ago for the first time my phone just completely hard resetted and lost all my data. I again turned it on and the battery charge was fine. im blaming that on my battery.
I use my phone mainly for listening to music on my bluetooth headphones while im driving to school and for typing things out on my bluetooth keyboard at school. The standared battery that comes with the phone simply has not enough charge time to do all this.
With all its annoying problems i still use my battery. I just make sure i back up my most important things on my storage card. And charge it every night.
Soon im going to buy a HTC Blue Angel due to my countrys crappy plans that the Harrier comes with. Maybe i might buy the 3600mah while im at it.
So my advice is if you dont need the charge of a extended battery then stay away. Unless you are like me and need the extra battery power then beware of some stress ahead that it might give you.

Just wanted to share my experience with people who may be considering an extended battery for their 6800. I recently decided to take the plunge on the super-extended battery after ditching my home phone and going cell only. Between the email checking, web surfing, texting and phone calling, the stock battery wasn't even lasting a day before crapping out. I attribute some of that to the fact that I have very weak signal in my office so often times while at work my data connection will drop and reconnect.
So early this past week my battery arrived. Install was cake as expected, though the battery door doesn't fit perfectly. It is just slightly raised in the middle.. hardly noticeable, but there. Seems like the hole for the white camera flash LED isn't quite big enough to fit around the element, too. I was initially worried about the extended backing being an annoyance, but after a week of heavy use, I've found the phone is MORE comfortable to hold, albeit slightly heavier (which I've never minded at all). With the battery on, it feels to be about the same weight as my old Treo 650 (god I HATED that phone LOL).
Ok so here are my typical settings :
Bluetooth : Off
Wifi : Off
GPS : Can't use it yet.. to chicken to install custom ROM
Email : 2 accounts, one set to check for mail every 15 mins, the other every 4 hours.
Backlight : 60%
Auto-Off : 2 minutes (screen and sleep mode)
Data Connection : 24/7
Software Running Full-Time : SPB Mobile Shell 2.1, SPB Diary today plugin, VITO SMS-Chat, Personalizer
I am a very heavy text and picture mail user and do a fair bit of web-surfing. Voice usage is light to moderate.
This past Thursday evening I decided to try to see how long it stretched from full charge to zero. I plugged the phone in to the wall charger and charged it up to 100% (around 6pm). With my normal usage pattern, and without plugging it into a PC to sync (so no short recharges), I was at 30% by 10pm on Saturday night. In an effort to kill it so I could recharge overnight, I used media player to loop a few full-screen WMV videos as well as turning on Bluetooth and WiFi. The bastard was resilient, though. At midnight, I still had 5% charge and "very low battery" warnings. To kill it the rest of the way, I surfed around the web for a bit.. it officially keeled over at 12:23am.
So my first official test of the super-extended battery netted me approximately 54.5 hours of "normal" usage with the afore listed settings which includes a couple hardcore hours of me making an effort to take it from 30% to zero. Having not intentionally killed it, I'm sure it would have lasted much longer.
In conclusion, I'm extremely pleased with the Seidio 3500mAh battery. It certainly delivers on it's promises. Thankfully I've never been bothered by a bulky or slightly heavy phone, so the extra weight isn't a factor for me. If anyone is on the fence about buying one, I would say go for it. If you're a heavy phone user you will really appreciate the extra juice
Oh yeah, one more thing, the extended battery does stick out enough to make the phone ALMOST too big for my leather bag/case thing. It was a universal leatherette belt-pouch with the magnetic click locks on it. The phone still fits but it's a super tight squeeze so I whipped out my much-loathed VZW rubberized holster for the time being. I have a Seidio spring loaded holster on order, hopefully it will be here tomorrow or Tuesday.

I think I read on the actual site that it does. I velieve I was reading the ext. battery product info. I have the Seido black rubberized case and the spring holster and was thinking of upgrading as well.
Hopefully, themirthfulswami will inform us soon.
I second that experience - best change I've made to my mogul.
Before using the battery, it was a race to see if the battery died before the end of the day. Now I can miss a night or even two of charging and it doesn't even matter.
A word of warning: The mogul is already decently large. Adding the extended battery pushes it to the edge of being useful in one handed operation. Not that it isn't, you just have to learn to hold it slightly differently.

I have tried few 3000mAh batteries and they perform great. i get to use my Titan for 4 days without charging... If anyone is interested I can get them for you for 35$ with back door included...
Who do I need to send the money to get the extended battery?
So I noticed the original person never got back to completing the review. So here's my two cents:
I'm generally a heavy phone user, especially with texts, emails and web surfing due to job reqs. Here's my typical settings:
WiFi- off
Bluetooth- off (on roughly 1 or 2 hrs max a day)
Brightness- 100%
Email: 2 accounts, 1 checking every 5 minutes (Yea, I actually need it) and the other receiving emails as they arrive (meaning I get them immediately upon receiving)
Auto off: 1 minute
Data Connection: On at all times
Software Running: Just switched to Manilla 2D- definitely a cool program to check out, SPB Pocket Plus (no today plugin)- using it to flick through IE
Texting: I don't know how many I text/day but I've hit 3000 in a month
Talk times: light to moderate
So I've never actually drained the extended battery to nothing, since I'm still used to charging it on a daily basis. I generally start my day off at 6 in the morning, its now 2:00 at night and the meter shows 50%. So typically speaking this thing beats the original battery by a lot. I won't charge tonight and see how well the battery does tomorrow. Along with the battery, I also got the extended battery case which fits snuggly and also covers that "middle lift up" the original person had a problem with (I guess its a problem with all the battery doors). I also have the spring holster- which fits both regular and extended battery phones.
As for how well the battery will stand up to my rigorous usage- I'll update you all once I'm through with tomorrow
big batteries need a fast charger
I put my 3600mAh Mugen in the charger at 10pm and remove it at 6am. If I try to it with the standard XV6800 charger (250mAh/hour), it won't charge all the way. Instead I use the 450mAh charger that I bought on eBay to charge the Mugen outside of the phone. Except I don't remove the battery from the phone; the 450mAh charger uses a standard USB cable, so I simply plug the cable directly into the phone.

As to that, I haven't had any problem charging the battery up to full using a regular charger. I generally plug it in probably 12 or 1 pm and unplug it at 6 or so. Then again, I never fully drain my battery.
As to the "review" that I had going yesterday, I am currently at 20% after 38 hours of use. I'm guessing this 20% will last several hours more since it was on 30% for several hours before
I just got one of these battery. When i plug into the charger the charging lite just blinks. Left it like this over night and still blinking.
Does this on 3 chargers:
1 - 5.5 V @ 1.0 A
2 - 5.4 V @ 2400 mA
3 - 5 V @ 850 mA

Are you using a seidio battery?
Yes the Seidio 3500mAh battery is the one that wont charge. My stock battery charges fine.

Hm..are you using the charger that came with your device? If that doesn't work..its most probably due to the battery. Seidio has a warranty on the batteries they sell
Email them first and ask what you should do, you most probably will have to ship it back if anything
Leaving the battery out of the phone for a minute or so when changing has seemed to fixed my problem of charging the 3500mAh Seidio battery.

I actually bought this battery off of someone used for 3 months. Life is way better than my original battery. My original was real funny. If i'm doing nothing, it would last a few hours with extremely basic functions including screen off for majority of time. If I was to make a phone call, battery would die literally after 10-15 minutes of constant speakerphone talking, even from a full charge. Pissed me off, I use my phone for many things and sh*tty battery limited me heavily.
After installing this new battery, I am using my phone for everything again. Slingbox, navi, bluetooth music listening, web surfing and ofcourse phone calls.
I am able to keep my phone off of charge for up to 2 days with heavy use. I work out everyday or try to and I watch tv through slingbox on my phone with Jabra BT620 bluetooth head phones. Thats a lot of drainage. Yet phone still does well with 2 days of use and no charge needed. I have emails set to come in every 5 minutes as well.
Here is one major issue this battery has presented to my phone when I originally got it but doesnt happen all the time. The beauty of our phones is that they are real easy to open and close. Real smooth. But can close very fast. First few times I closed it, it slams so hard I guess that the battery gets knocked out of place. I have to remove the battery completely and put it back in to start my phone up again. Very annoying but tested a few times and it doesnt seem to happen all the time. It has happened to me maybe 3 times since I got battery (almost a week) but it happened maybe 2 times on the first day.
It depends on how hard you do it. As I was typing this, i tested it a few times. Opened and closed pretty hard like 4 times in a row with no issues. 5th time, I did it harder than I normally would and it happened again. Aside from this, very happy with battery.
hm, never had that problem you had. But in general- lets agree, the battery is a lifesaver for any powerhouse user

I paid for 2 day FedEx delivery, yet they want me to refuse delivery, and then they won't even send the right stuff out until they get the wrong stuff back? My wife needs the battery for an upcoming business trip. She can barely use her phone today because the current battery doesn't even last a single day anymore. Besides, I didn't get this e-mail until yesterday on the way home from work, and the package was on my front porch when I got home.
Of course, customer service was closed for the night, so I replied asking that my correct items be shipped out in an expedited fashion and offered to return the incorrect package however they wanted me to. I'll follow up today with customer service once they open as well. Wish me luck!
Here's an update to my Seidio shipping issue. Apparently someone else with my same first name placed an order at the same time, and somehow ours got switched. When I called this morning, the person I spoke with said the same thing as the e-mail, that I would have to return the package and then they would ship the right one once they received the wrong one.
Since we really needed the extended battery, I went ahead and placed a second identical order and chose next day shipping. Then I called them back to cancel the original, but to my surprise the person who answered knew of my situation immediately and we came to the following agreement. I would return the package I received, and at that point they would refund my original purchase price plus the cost of the next day shipping, meaning I am still paying 2nd day shipping for something that will have taken over a week to arrive. But hey, at least I'll finally have it, and my wife will be able to use the extended battery on her business trip.
that's good news, seidio doesn't seem like they'll have bad customer service, its a great battery tho with the case it is somewhat of a brick haha..hope you enjoy the new extended life of it!
everybody knows that diamond's battery is a pain in the whole. i can't be bothered to charge it twice a day, so i bought an extended battery several weeks ago. and since then, the gps which used to work didn't work anymore.
at first i thought it could be some conflict or mis-configuaration. i searched xda forum for two days, tried hundreds of solutions, still couldn't get it solved.
tonight i just used some imagination, could it be the huge battery and its replacement cover (which is thicker than the original one, as you know...) preventing the GPS recieving signal? so i dug out the original battery, put it in, turned on diamond and ran googlemaps, set to 'use GPS'. amazingly it worked very well!! 3 mins to get 9 satelites searched for the first time, then 5 seconds to get more than 5 satelites the second time.
then i tried the following cases and got the following results:
1. use the extended battery (unofficial), put the thick cover on. googlemaps not working, neither tomtom7.
2. use the extended battery, take the cover off. both GPS softwares not working.
3. use the original battery, put the thick cover on. all work well.
now i am sure that MY problem is the extended battery!!
i bought the 1800mAh extended battery from clove.co.uk. just a piece of extra information for anybody's reference...
if ne1 has the same case as mine, share it please!!!

Can you check what is the battery voltage in extra battery? does it go down when gps is used and current crows or is it lower than original in idle state too?
In original full loaded battery with usb cable plugged on my battery is 4.175V, drops in 4.078V when usb cable is removed (gps is on, seeking satellites with not yet get fix).
Measured wit PowerGuard freeware application.

GPS and extended battery
I bought an extended 1800mAh battery from dealextreme.com and it works with GPS. Previously I had another 1800mAh battery bought on e-bay and GPS was not working due to the shield effect of the battery and the cover.
Also bought 1800 from Deal Extreme, and it works PERFECT!
... And it last aprox. twice a 900, so the 1800 is quite accurate

I just received my new battery which I bought at Deal Extreme (they even put two batteries in there). Immediately tested to see if GPS would still be working. And it does, finds satellites just as easily as before! (TomTom 6)
No information on the battery life yet (since I just inserted the battery half an hour ago).

How much thicker does it make the phone? It does make the phone look ugly but I dont mind that if it doubles the life of my battery.
Does the phone still fit into the official cover?
Can I assume that the new back cover will fit my o2 ignito?

It’s 8 mm thicker: but the cover only sticks out over the part where the battery is placed. So, you have a square that sticks out (5cm high and 8mm depth, and as wide as the entire phone of course), the rest of the phone doesn’t become thicker.
It is indeed a very ugly cover.
But it seems to increase battery life. The battery indicator icon showed three cubes on Monday when I received it, now two days later, still two cubes left (WIFI off).
Please post which replacement or extended batteries are confirmed working.
Of particular interest to me are any standard size, extra capacity batteries. Hong Kong seems to be full of them
Just read the many threads about this. There haven't been reports of non-working replacements that I know of, and the standard size "extended" batteries don't extend anything, they pretty much all have about the same capacity as the original.

I am interested in that, only because I originally was interested in the battery with the kickstand pictured around the net (but I cannot find it for sale anywhere)....
The official extended battery with the stand is supposed to become available mid-April or so. Normal that you don't find it for sale yet.
i thought i remember someone stating on these forums that there was going to be a "standard" sized battery 1500 or so... and it was due sometime at the end of last month (march) has anyone heard anything about this?

i wanted a spare just to throw into my phone when i can not charge it, when its running low with out having to use a portable charger (which i hate). just wanted something of equivalent to original with out the price tag. i will test it on how it is when used and when not in use (if it holds its charge when fully charged and left out of the phone for a while).
i received it today and have started using it.
i will also post the pictures of the battery against my original one, for reference.
i can report so far;
-life seems to be similar (but will be able to tell when tested more).
-the fit is different; it is just under a 1mm taller so it has a snug fit to say.
-battery charger it came with is sufficient for money paid. (All works as well as USB output)
-battery looks like original but with slight differences in quality of information print on it. (as well as non-original is missing a white sticker on the bottom part).
-item listing states 1230mah like original (to be fully tested)
-item listing states it is an original, which it is not, but does not matter for price, (and I knew it was not when buying.)
In all I so far am impressed for the cost.
Will report back later with more information on it.
Update:
when put in the phone it was at 50%, this dropped to ~35% after 5 hours. 3 hours later, listing to music, battery level has gone from 25-11 after around ~40 mins of music. This is a little higher drop than that of the original would produce. (music listened through s2p with screen off, screen on only to change tracks and text)
after a full charge last night, left it off charge after so was at 100% at midnight. With little to no usage battery has got to 50% after ~13hours. This is worse than the original, by around half as much more i guess.
it has reached 30% at ~17 hours. (im switching back to original, this is enough information for me on usage)
when i took the battery out, fully charged it, and left it out of the phone to test how well it held its charge i got only a 4% (fromm 100%) drop over 10days which isnt that bad.
Results are good. Im Happy with it as my spare in my bag, or to leave in a jacket pocket when out and about for 2days.
the forum here is full with problems of people who did get a cheap chinese battery from ebay or somewhere else, that is not recognized by their htc hd2 and is discharging at the rate of the shipped original small battery.
also the forum is full with "solutions" that are NOT WORKING that WILL NEVER WORK.
this is the reason for this thread to give the people the one and only answer to fix their problem!
first of all, be sure to have the newest firmware to have the extended battery driver.
but this will only solve charging problems if you got one of the first shipped firmwares.
after that get the ORIGINAL EXTENDED BATTERY. also the 2300mah battery from the company "leicke" is working for me. (looks identical to the original extended battery, maybe its the same)
this batteries will be recognized correctly and will discharge in the right speed!

your battery is crap like most other extended batterys for hd2. get another one, but continue reading the rest of this thread before!
i had a cheap 2400mah chinese battery before and had the same problem.
the thing is, that these chinese batteries are faking, they are normal ones because the driver of the hd2 origininally didnt support bigger batterys in the first roms.
the chinese batterys are out of date (they only added a kickstandcover) and also the capacity is mostly a giant fake!
i disassembled my chinese cameron sino battery and here is the result: its made of 2 small batteries pakaged in one frame and controlled with one chip that is sending fakedata to the phone, also the temperature is recognized wrong because it doesn't really have a sensor! it always shows 25,X°C all the time. like i said: totally faked data
tip but not a solution: if you discharge your chinese battery to 0%, remove it and put it back into the device, you should have 50% again, but thats no calibration because a calibration of this batteries is not possible!
my "leicke" battery did cost 21 euro incl shipping and is working correctly, also the high quality cover with metal-kickstand is fitting perfectly, not like the chinese ones that never fits!
dont try to fix the problem with hints and tricks or calibrations, it will NOT AND NEVER work with the cheap crappy chinese batteries! i already tested it!
i hope this thread is helping the most people with their cheap-battery-problems.

How long does the Leicke battery last by you ?? By me not too long , just a littel more than the original -.-
for me it lasts with wlan on and permanent internet using ca 10-12 hours (and still is not empty). in standby-mode many days and maybe weeks with windows mobile. (under 5-10% draining a day with phone on)
it lasts nearly the double time of the original battery. i can tell you, that the 2300mah are the real capacity and how long your battery lasts depends on your systemsettings, phoneusage etc.
i use battclock to control the current powerdraining. with wlan on it is ca 140-300mah but mostly a little bit under 200mah. so you can calculate yourself how long the battery lasts until it is empty
I'm using the licked battery too and can confirm that it works correctly with the hd2. With current android builds the battery last for 3 days with moderate use. If you can live with the bulky shape, the leicke is definitely a great alternative to the official HTC extended battery. Cover and stand are also quite ok, aluminium cover would be nicer but can surely not be expected at such a low price.

I use the cheap China batterry 2400hr
I bought off ebay for $14.00 US shipped and it works perfectly. The back cover fits like it was made for it. Snaps on cleanly and has never come off or stick up on the edges. The battery charges with Android and WinnMo to 100% and lasts for days. Most of your charging problems may be your rom or radio version. There are probably multiple makers in China so some may be better than others. My Cheap China works works okydoky!

It has gone up a little bit. Just bid on it to get the cheaper price. There are several in his store. I got mine several months ago. Just buy a cheap silicone case and cut a hole for the cover to stick through on the back. Works good and looks fine. Only HD2 snobs will know any difference!

Just bought the Leicke too.
Unfortunately it does not charge at all in WinMO
I use an NRG rom.
It seemed to work in Android but it went really fast downhill at 50% at 7% or so it was at 3.9 Volts which is rather high to be at that %.
maybe your rom don't support extended batterys. try another one like the oem rom from htc and test it.
the first roms didn't charge real extended batterys.
and you need the right android kernel for extended batterys because many kernels are buggy,
i use the kernel of froyo sense 2.4 and its working perfectly
Which WinMo rom are you using Schildzilla?
i am using a german rom called "EPS V5" - it is only a little tweaked oem rom with the newest drivers

Its nothing to do with the battery , its the android os and he kernel which is main cause of the battery not getting detected where the manufacturers are putting in the code which only detects the stock battery and thus your extended battery reports and drains like the normal battery.
I have a mugen 4800 for my dell streak and because of dell's coding my battery is not getting detected on froyo and on gingerbread, however it is getting detected properly on android 1.5 and 1.6 so its nothing to do with the battery. I agree to your point regarding the kernels having the extended battery support and that is the main cause for this reporting error.

Leicke Extended battery only charges when switched off
I've just bought the extended Leicke battery (from Amazon @ £15.)
When plugged into either my laptop or to the mains adapter I get orange and green alternating blinking lights and it doesn't charge. When the phone is off, the light is constant orange and charges.
I have the standard WWE ROM 3.14.405.2 and have just reapplied the same ROM in case I've done something to cause the problem.
This FAQ seems to confirm that the battery won't charge when the HD2 is on as a result of something that HTC have put into the Kernel to try and make sure that we only buy HTC branded batteries. It seems that I will need to go to a custom version, although I may just leave it off over night when charging.

Got an HTC extended battery. Not recognized by my hd2 running Pdaimatejam WP7 ROM Ver-7.1. I have read though many threads on XDA, but no solution !
After charging in magldr mode for 10 hrs it shows only 55 %. And the battery tool by HTC only shows capacity as 1230 , while the actual capacity is 2300.
Can any one guide me to a wp7 rom which will recognize the extended battery.

I would also need some help, the "stock" MIUI ROM doesn´t recognize the Leicke extended Battery...
Could someone please help me with all this Kernel stuff etc. I´ve read a lot but I don´t know what special Kernel is compatible with what ROM...
EDIT: Is it an alternative to just buy an externel battery dock so that you could just switch the battery if it´s empty?
