BatteryStatus annoying prompt - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

for some reason i have been getting a prompt about every few hours that says
"BatteryStatus Today-Plugin"
"this is shareware and you can use it "as is" and as long as you want!
thank you for using BatteryStatus Advanced!"
i have Open Touch v3.0 Biggy WM 6.1 that was just flashed last week w/no problems (only this little one).
any one have a solution for this?
thanks
DK

I have the same exact issue, it just started this morning. It used to do it before, too, and it took another flashing to get rid of it. It looks like the cook used an incorrect version of BatteryStatus.
From the BatteryStatus Author's site:
I have a nag-window sometimes. How can i remove that?
A registration system is currently in testing state. If you want a nag-free version (for a while) you need to register at xda-developers and use one of the versions provided there.
:'(

so where does this leave us

alright, its not just me. so what now? i really don't want to flash again. i am already registered here, so how do i get/install an "xda version"?
let me know if you have any ideas.

I just installed the BatteryStatusExt.1.05.UPXed.build_0290.CAB from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751
So far it seems like my issue has been fixed. I hope it works for you, too.

I had the pop up since this morning too. I did a soft reset, and since then there hasn't been a prompt yet

thanks for the searching

I followed the thread and it says on the first paragraph that the BatteryStatusExt.1.05.UPXed.build_0290.CAB could damage your device.
this has me skeeved out. i might just give it a day or two, and if it continues, i'll just flash to Open Touch v4.0 Biggy. i just got this phone a month ago and i don't want to kill it yet. thanks for the suggestion

i wonder if this is a coincidence? i bet that this pop up is scheduled at the end of every month or something like that.

EVERY version of BatteryStatus can hurt your device if you use it incorrectly. For example, overclocking to above 260 is not smart and will shorten the life of your device. It could just freeze up and stop altogether. It's nothing specific to that version, just that overclocking in general is pretty risky stuff if you push it.

i did not know that...

cool, well thanks for that info. i have seen a lot of people clocked at 247 and up, and i tried that, but i swear the back of my phone was getting hot. i switched it over to 234, and it runs just fine for me. i don't think i would be able to tell the difference anyway. great, then i will open that cab up and see what happens. thanks for the info orochidp.

Hi all. I seem to have the same recuuring issue at least twice a day with my kaiser.
For no apparant reason it keeps freezing on me, and each time always displays the same fuzzy graphics on the title bar (see attachment).
Has anybody come accross this issue? What shall I do?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have a custom rom or a stock rom?
What rom are you using?
What radio are you using?
Can you tell us the available memory you have?
Do you have a task manager installed, and are you making sure everything is closed prior to opening new programs?
That information will be helpful in figuring out what's going on. Let us know, thanks! =)
If you don't have one of the newer custom roms, you're pretty much guaranteed to get an answer of "install hardspl / new radio / rom".
If you have a stock rom from HTC... you're gonna hear "reflash the phone with the stock rom, and if it still does it.. return the phone, or flash it with a custom one".
How much warranty do you have left?
Can you also give us a list of what programs you have installed, and which ones are usually running?
Pictures part 1
Thanks for the quick response. There are a lot of questions so i took a bunch of screen shots. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore detail.
See second post as i am unable to post all pics in one post.
Thankyou

I am also running battibar in the background.
Well, from what i gather from the screenshots you posted everything should be working fine. There's no reason it should be freezing up, unless there is some sort of conflict, or corrupt program.
Have you noticed that it happens after opening a certain program, or is it really random?
Oh, I take it that's a stock rom right? You never flashed the phone, you just installed individual cab files, right?

It seems to be random but then on the other hand ive noticed that it usually happens when its been sitting on the charger and idle (for example, i'll pop it on the charger before bed, and when i wake up in the morning its frozen). Also it happens at work when its connected to my pc via activesync and after i havent been doing anything for a while.

Well, just like I posted above. Everything seems fine... and since you are using the stock rom you only have a few choices. You can start uninstalling programs 1 by 1... (noting which ones you uninstall so you can put them back on). Go 1/2 a day, and see if you still have the problem after uninstalling each program. That will help narrow down the theory about corrupt programs or conflicts.
Another option, is reloading the stock rom from HTC... and don't install anything. See how that works for a day... if it's fine, then you can start installing programs.... then if the problem occurs, you know it's got to be something with one of the program you've put on there.
Then you could always just uninstall everything, reset everything, and send it back and get a new phone.... but if it's the software causing the issue, and you put the same software back on the new phone.. you'll just be right back in the same situation again.
If you have warranty time left, i'd uninstall everything, and demand a new phone because of teh issues you are having. Onec you get it, then i'd flash with a custom rom... just make sure you do it right. =)
EDIT: Hell even if you don't have any warranty left, i'd STILL flash with a custom rom. I can't even begin to tell you how much better my phone runs now that it's flashed compared to before. I was using the stock ROM before from HTC, i had some issues... it was a bit laggy... so i reflashed with the stock rom, limited the software i put on it.. etc. etc.... still ran like dog piss... so i flashed, and well..... you get the picture. It's awesome now.

10 months. But i dont feel any heat whatsoever, and the other day i was using it at work all day connected via activesync and it didnt freeze up. its only when i leave it idle on the charger.... Last weekend i kept getting messages from friends all during the night while it was on the charger (i was reading messages) and it didnt freeze.
So if it's sitting still for a long time without activity.. it freezes. Hmm... well i could give you a dozen things to try, but they'd just be bandaid fixes anyway. If it's freezing something isnt right.
Read my first post on page 2 of this thread you started and that should give you your options. FLASH!!

PLEASE HELP!!! Wont Boot - Red/Green/Blue Screen

Im really really hoping that someone can help me here
It started this morning around 10:00 or so - I took my phone out to check my messages, everything is working fine. I lock the phone and put it standby (power button) and *surprise*, it locks up and wont come out of standby
So i just re-set it (like im forced to do 20 times a day) and instead of booting it went straight to this red/green/blue screen. At the bottom of the screen it just says "Serial" but doesn't actually give a serial.
I instantly thought it was bricked, so i removed the battery and left it out for a few mins. Then i put the batt back in, and it booted normally. I used it throughout the day with no problems.
Fast forward a few hours and it does it again but now it wont boot at all (ive reset the thing like 100000 times in the last hour ive been working on it).
WTF is going on?? Im really really hoping that it isnt too screwed to fix
The last program I installed was the SPB pack, but that was over a month ago, and i use the phone every day, multiple times a day.
Oh, and to make things worse i was planning on relying on my TomTom tomorrow
and the text on that screen says:
Kais1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLID-8
And at the bottom it just says "Serial" but none is given.
This blows
Have you recently tried to flash your phone? Have you ever? If you never have flashed it or attempted to use Olipof's app, then take it to the store and demand a new one.
Do you see "USB" instead of "Serial" if you connect your sync cable to your phone when in the bootloader?
If so, I would download the latest carrier-branded rom and flash it to your device. As long as the rom is designed for your device, then you do not need to do anything special prior to running the file from your PC.

I have never flashed it but i have spilled water near it (on the counter, the phone got wet but that was months ago and has no relation to this).
Can they check if it has been wet before?
When i plug it into my computer it says USB instead of serial. Should I try to re-flash with an updated rom and see if it fixes it or just take it in?
If you find me on MSN IM ([email protected]) we can run a diagnostic & see what the problem is.

Thanks, ill give you a buzz.
I need to finish and email a few things first (shouldnt take more than 30mins).
Actually, ill just message you tomorrow or something.
Ive been really busy this week.
well did you get it fixed? what did you do?
Yikes, that happened to a friend of mine, but he flashed his and then had to reflash it. I think there is a place on the back under the battery that they use to tell if it's been wet. I would take it back, even if flashing it fixes it, you don't want it to happen again.
oh and it doesn't mean serial like a serial number, it is a serial connection.
I havent been able to get it fixed.
I think ill try to flash it this weekend and see if that fixes it
You'll only make problems worse if you reflash. I've analyzed the MTTY output you've sent me & you have a bad NAND storage blocks.
You need to follow the directions I sent to your email account via MSN IM.
DO NOT REFLASH UNTIL YOU'VE TAKEN CARE OF THE BAD BLOCKS!!!

Although its unfortunate what happened to you, I'm really grateful of all the troubleshooting that you've done before me, so I know what works and what doesn't. Interesting to note that I have had the Tilt since the day it came out, and never cooked/ flashed my rom. I have been using the Tilt rom the whole time with no problems. Otherwise I'm a huge power user and have a ridiculous amt of software installed.
So after everything was all said and done, did you end up just replacing the device? Thanks again man

Anthony,
Yea I went ahead and replaced it. No matter what I did to reflash the original bootloader, and flash the original rom, I always ended up with that same problem. Did you notice that if you can't get it out of the bootloader, but you connect it to your computer, and while it's connect, you soft reset, that it boots? Just curious. that's what happened to me. Either that or I would have to yank the sim and battery, then try.
My tilt was working fine for about a month with a flashed rom, up until I started installing gobs of software on it. Just a thought. If I were you, I would get the device replaced. Especially if you've never flashed a new rom on it - it definitely should not be doing that.

My computer has been broken for a month or two. To answer your question - I haven't been connecting it to anything other than an AC outlet. Anything installed in the last couple months was installed OTA... I usually just obtain a CAB by downloading it directly onto my device.
Also, its weird but sometimes after I drain the batter with the RGB screen then recharge it (this process takes about a day) then hit the reset button, it will actually boot correctly. I am on the third time this has happened. It was bricked for a couple days, then after a combination of charging / depleting got it to boot into windows. Then it happened again, then again.
As long as I don't restart the phone it will stay in windows... If I restart then I lose it for a day or so. Interesting to note that since this has happened, phone calls connect, but I can't hear the other party and they can't hear me.
Also, I use the mini usb out to a 3.5mm stereo jack to stream shoutcast into my car stereo while driving. Last week (at the onset of my problem) the music was playing from the Tilt's speakerphone, and not going through the headphone jack as it normally would. A restart fixed this, but when it happened again a day or so later, the next restart is what got me to that boot screen for the first time.
One of us should post this in the forum...

And just an update, I never sent back my phone or did anything as far as bad blocks go. I just let the battery drain and booted it right up and now it works perfect. I have since installed a few cooked rooms and radios and have had no issues since. This RGB screen was isolated to just those few days that we were talking about in the PMs.

New ROM - SMS trouble

With this new ROM, I've got some annoying problems.. Really annoying.
In TF3D when I get a new SMS and I press it to reply, it opens the conversation window, but I can't just type my reply, if I press the input line it goes back to the conversation window and minimizes the input line. I will have to press the keyboard icon and then click the input line every time. I used to just type directly after tapping the message on TF3D. Thats problem number 1.
Another problem is, that when I get a new sms while In the conversation window, by the way the new sms's I get are from the same person whom I'm having this conversation with, so back to the new sms. It of course appears in the conversation and so on, but when I close it, it still shows the number of "new" sms's I got since i was in the chat. It's supposed to go away since I KNOW I got new sms cuz I obviously can see it when im chatting with the person that sent me the sms. So anyone know what I can do? Have you experienced the same problem(s)? I hope you at least understand what I tried to explain, it got kinda long, sorry.'

What other applications you installed.
When the problem occured
Does it work properly if you hard reset your phone?
If you are using a custom rom then Tell the person who made it.

Other applications doesn't matter since this bug occured right after updating to the new ROM from the old stock ROM which was version 1.93.

Me too. First time I open a new text message from TF3D it won't let me type, but if I close it and open again, it's fine. It doesn't do it *every* time, but 9 times out of 10 it does. It's not the end of the world
I'm using Duttys V3.3 WWE and I have the same problem.
I really can not stress how freaking annoying this bug is. Specially, the message counter. It like putting me on a torture rack.
If I keep replying to the same person, the message counter will keep going up, and will only clear if I go to All messages (lets say I have a counter of 7), open the conversion with the user and close it 7 times to clear !!!!
I've brought it up somewhere before, but I was not able to get a solution. I thought it was Touchpal issue in the beginning, but it's not.
Hopefully someone will chime in!
I also have the SMS trouble on the newest 2.XX SWE version =( very very annoying
Same here
Hi
i having the same problem with the europe 2.03 version, like some has said here dont they test before they release it
I'm also having the issue on the 2.03 WWE version. It's really annoying especially since I have a Sony Ericsson bluetooth watch which continues to vibrate every few minutes unless I go into All Messages and open and close the contact that has the message.
Edit: Sent the HTC guys a tweet about this issue as it's a pretty big bug if you ask me.
i have no problem at all. using 2.03 Swedish official.
Dont have this issue but i turned off threaded conversations as soon as I installed the rom. Its not to my liking - but I know this doesnt help those who do like it

What is your current radio version? Which kernel did you flashed?
BTW, I know I am currently have my own problem with my Kaiser, but may be we can figure this thing out for you. You never know, I might end up fixing my own problem.
Tomcug, what do you have radio? Best for android is probably 1.70.19.09 or 1.65.21.18...
However I had a similar problem. Solution for me was the exclusion of data transmition. Try this-> Uncheck option in Settings / Wireless & Networks / Mobile networks / Data enabled.

Yea! I am still trying to fight these issues (both reboot and shutdown on its own). It's something to do with the Kernel/radio combo and I am thinking it might also be related to SPL (base on past experience with Android on the other phone). I end up (for now) flashing the 2.6.25 to see if it will stop. We will see.

[Q] HTC One Screen Problem

Hey guys,
I bought an HTC One about 15 days ago. Within 2-3 days of using it, I started getting problems with the display screen. I suppose this problem was seen by few people who owned the HTC One X but I couldnt find any useful solutions in those formums hence im posting here.
This is what happens:
1. Whenever I receive a call, the screen goes black and doesnot turn on until I hang up the call. This effectively makes the device useless as a phone, as I can't see who is calling and also during call I cannot access the screen.
2. Sometimes, there is a delay with the power button. When I press the power button, the touchscreen becomes responsive but the display doesn't turn on.
The problem is, if I factory reset the device, it starts working perfectly again!! Again after about 2 days it starts the same problems.
So I thought it was a software issue and so, I got s-off and installed the GPE Rom on the device. 7 days passed, no problems. On the 8th day, the same problem occured again. And as earlier, factory resetting solved the problem.
Is this a software issue, hardware issue or something else I dont know about?
I have taken a video of the device malfunctioning, but I don't know if I can post it as an attachment.
Thanks in advance!

upload it on youtube and post the link.
And something else. Make a factory reset again and then don't install any apps. Does the error also occure?
Im new to XDA forums and hence the site does not allow me to post URLS. However I have uploaded the video to youtube.
If you put 'HTC One screen problem Aniruddha Joshi ' in the youtube search box, you will find my video.
Im sorry I couldnt think of any other way
I did not install anything out of the ordinary. Just updated the existing google apps and installed facebook, twitter and whatsapp! No crazy apks or unknown apps.
Also, once I factory reset the phone, it starts working perfectly and there is no way to know the time after which it starts giving problems again. Once it was 3 hours, once it was a week.
So I don't have any way to check if some app is causing the problems.

after seeing your video, I am even more confused. I really don't know what could cause this problem. But the fact, that I didn't have this issue and almost no other person too, makes me think about a hardware defect. But the randomness and that it only occures after several days don't support this theory. So the only thing we can do about his is basic troubleshooting.
- 1) Try to flash Cyanogenmod and try this mod for several days
- 2) Try another Rom, for example: Omni Rom
- 3) Try to use a different Kernel for GPE stock.
- 4) Use a RUU that matches for you
Sorry, I don't have any other ideas left! But after this troubleshooting we may get new information or gain some knowledge that allows us to determine the cause of this error more exactly!

Try flashing a Sense ROM, like ARHD or MaximusHD?

The original device shipped with sense Rom. I flashed GPE to check if it was a software fault. But no luck. It gave the same problem although significantly later(about a week after I flashed it).
One more thing, I hope this gives some more information..
One time, I had rooted the device and installed a custom recovery. The phone was then working perfectly for about 4-5 days. and then later when I went ahead and unrooted the device, it immediately started giving problems. So I rooted it again hoping that the problem will go away, but no luck...the problem persisted. So, I had no option than to factory reset again, at which point it started working perfectly again.
This is all so bizarre, I have never seen something like this happen
This is just a theory, but is it possible that there is a problem with the hardware which gets triggered only on certain conditions, like some interrupt, or flag or something like that?
So until those conditions are not met, the device runs perfectly, and when they are, it starts giving issues.
Thats all i can think of as the reason.
well its clearly something youre installing if it is occuring after a few days, a root app which controls your sensor or brightness probably, do you have apps of that nature?

No I rooted the device but did not install any root apps...i unrooted the device to install the GPE Rom(not necessary i know, but it seemed like a proper way) and found that it started giving problems immediately. Can non-root regular apps also cause such problems? I had installed only a limited number of apps anyway, updated the pre installed apps, facebook, twitter, whatsapp, some games..thats it..nothing wierd..
Might be a Screen-Off max. frequency issue. Like the phone gets only 500Mhz in sleep mode at maximum. Which is to low for an incoming call. Could you install a app like Android Tuner or Trickster Mod to check your Screen-Off Max frequency. If it`s that low, set it to ~1000Mhz.

That is very stange indeed. As I don't know any other causes for this error than:
Underclocked CPU or/and GPU on screen off
Root application that controls the brightness
Hardware issue(But what would cause this???)
I can only advice you:
Since you are S OFF, take a RUU, and follow this guide and ****ing set back your device back to stock! Don't root it! Don't use custom kernels. Don't install any strange apps that may control your display brightness. SERIOUSLY! Don't install an app that controls brighness even if it works on a friends phone! Just don't!
And if you still get this issue: It is a hardware issue! If you followed step by step the instruction and if you did everything I told you to do, it HAS to be a hardware issue! The fact that the error didn't appear on GPE that fast is caused by the lower performance requierement by GPE! So I seriously have doubt that this issue is caused by a hardware defect. But it isn't impossible for sure. I just have the impression that you changed some system files and you didn't know what you were doing. This is NOT against you, but it seems to be a reasonable possibility because a factory doens't reset the /system partiton.
P.S.
I'd be very kind if you hit the thanks button since we, the community, are really trying to help you.

Agreed, trying following the guide and if it doesn't work make it s-on and send it to HTC for them to give a look.

I will definitely follow your guide and try to troubleshoot the problem. I hope its not some hardware defect and I dont have to send the device to HTC. I've heard those guys are poor at customer service
Thanks a lot, you've been a great help!
Btw, I was trying to find that Thanks button since the first day, I just couldn't figure out where it was. I just did.
Thanks again
Yup try installing kernel and custom rom.
Remove the case and try ( i know this is stupid thing but can give it a try)

Thanks ! That's awesome and gives so much motivation! If you find out that you have a hardware defect and that you have to send it to HTC, I'll give you some information how to deal with those guys that you get your warranty.
