LED lights - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Just got the new phone today. The LED lights aren't switched on by default. So when the phone is charging, have bluetooth switched on, missed calls etc.... nothing
In the sounds and notifications setup the tick box for the light is greyed out. Is there a registry setting to turn them on, or is my phone faulty ??

Do you mean the circle LED? Reading the manual they should flash or spin in a circle depending on whats happening. there is no Bluetooth light from what I can tell.

No not the circular light it works ok. There appears to be a small LED up beside the speaker (where your ear goes). It's not doing anything !

It's light sensor

there are no "connectivity" indicator LEDs - ie WLAN BT Phone etc. only the indicator LED for missed call, unread email sms.

LED in Earpice

I almost trade in my cruise, but I noticed that the LED on the earpice does not blink..we tried to plug the charger, does not turn orange or green..so I back out..the store dont want me to open a second one.
I saw a guy buying in Fortress (in HK, it's been here since last Friday), and it does not blink as well... well but it really looks like a LED on it..
looking for the brochures.....to check
Sure it's not just the light sensor?
It probably is, the scroll weel thing seems to do all the blinking.
its definitely a light sensor
Cheers
LB
Yes it’s a light sensor. I mentioned this in an earlier thread. It allows the backlight to adjust automatically to its surroundings.
Sorry evryone..just got mine...
It is the light sensor...too much on my Cruise...
ok, so there is no led on the diamond? that s not common for an htc, and that s not very convenient to know if you missed some calls or if your device if fully charged etc

Lol there is an array of lights around the directional control. It lights up veyr nicely, and much more noticeably than the tiny LEDs on previous HTC devices. It glows with a slow pulsating when charging, and flashes when there is a missed call or SMS (according to your preference settings).
"It glows with a slow pulsating when charging" and when charging is over it stops pulsating or is a solid light ?

And how u know if the phone is still on ?Is there no option to make the joistick blink while in standby?????
Pull out the stylus. If it's on, the screen will turn on.

Charging LED - How to disable ?

Hello there,
is there any way to disable the charging LED ?
to each his own, but im curious, why? i just got my phone, but i love the charge lights
Very odd request. How will you know your phone is fully charged if you disable the light?
i bet it's just a registry edit, i'll look around and fiddle around with stuff.

You can also see this in the main display, when the charging icon changes to the battery symbol.
I want to follow up with a related question;
Is there any software to tweak how the LED is blinking? In other words, change the direction and speed. I like the spinning motions (recived SMS) better than the up and down (charging) direction.

In that case, you may want to have the phone and a few other lights turned on while you sleep if the night nerves you. That way you'll have some comfort while sleeping.
If I've misunderstood you, and you mean the light bothers you, then I would also suggest not sleeping with the phone resting against your face, with the light flashing in an eye.
Ok by now you know I'm just kidding, so no offense, but couldn't you just put your phone face down on the table, or even on a cloth if you're worried about it scratching?

Lol, I didn't get far enough down the thread in time to see your response. GMTA! (great minds think alike!)
I used the kaiser notification setup program to disable all my leds
Try this
My girlfriend has the same "issue" about small blinking lights in the bedroom.
She has a HTC P4350 (Herald) and i installed nueLED for her to disable the charging LED and also the signalling LED.
I don't know if the app works on a TP
I does require .NET CF 3.5

I like the way the phone seems to breathe (with the light) while charging. I think it'd be cool to be able to have it beam different colors. Sigh...remembering that bright, shiney new v600 so long ago...
there 8 leds in it on the front. would be nice to be able to control this somehow. there is probably a separate dll for this. like the led of the camera which is hidden in the cameradriver.
A LED control app would be a awesome gadget. Because nueLED is very limited in functions.

considering Nokia 8, does no led notification bother you?

Hi, I need a screen with a very bright screen. I am considering buying a nokia 8 but the only thing holding me back is the lack of led notification. Does it bother you or not? Appreciate anyones thoughts.
I don't miss it at all, and now I like the fact that it's not always blinking for something.
The glance screen will tell you if you missed phone calls or SMS, although you do have to move the phone for it to come on.
I thought that I would miss the notification LED, but am getting on fine without it.

thanks, so just moving the phone turns on glance screen? Seems like a good alternative.
Yes moving the phone will turn on the glance screen.
I attach two pictures, one of glance screen in operation and the second of the possible settings for the glance screen. The time-out for the glance screen can be set up to 20 minutes.
I should point out that while the screen on the Nokia 8 will not disappoint for clarity and brightness, that the glance screen is dim (to save battery) and you cannot make it brighter.
Hope that helps
I'm the opposite end of the stick. I think glance is [email protected] and do miss the notification led.

Not really... It only shows counters for missed calls, mails and texts. Missed messages from other apps (like messengers) are not shown. Besides that, the counter font is very tiny. I turned off glance screen after a few days because I found it totally useless...
So, yes: I actually miss a notification LED.

No, you need a custom kernel to be able to do it.
Edit: The apps I was trying (that used the camera flash for notificaitons) didn't work, so I've deleted the links.

Notification light?

I could've swore I seen info about the v40 having a notification led. Does it have one or no?
I'm asking because a recent video I saw, stated it didn't have one.
Hehh, it doesn't. And I just noticed this after having the phone for 2 weeks.
It does have edge lighting when its locked/off tho. And that is really neat.

That sucks. I hated that about the v30.
I'll have to look up the edge lighting.
Edit: Just seen edge lighting and it's nowhere near as good as an led. Man, I may have to reconsider this phone now.
Its really neat to watch. It moves around the screen and glows alternatingly. I want to say it changes color too.

But it doesn't go on continually.
True, but who now-a-days doesn't automatically check their phone when they pick it up. Light or no light? Its instinct - at least for me - to pick up the phone and hit the screen to open it and look at my notifications.

Yep! And you can turn off AoD between certain times with 8.1!!
Sounds about right..
All a matter of opinion. It has literally turned me off from buying this phone.
LG is confused on their direction. Led, no led, led is back, nope no led.

Again, matter of opinion. I don't want the screen on showing the time. I'd prefer a small led that flashes a select color for certain things.
It's fine if you don't care for one, but I do. A small colored light flashing a certain color reveals exactly the info I need.

Ok bro whatever that works for you. Lg 40 is not for you. Good luck
I've got a 1 year old now, and try to keep my phone usage to a minimum with her around, not to mention protecting my new LG from her grip.
My phone sits on the counter, and unless I see the notification light, I keep it out of the way. I've missed tons of messages, some concerning time related issues, since I'm not one of those "pick up the phone every 3 seconds millennial" types.
I never thought they'd take the LED away, so I didn't even check before I bought it.
Too late for me.
From my understanding none of the v-series had led notification light.. My last lg phone with notification light was the lg g2
Except with apps like Light Flow, the light means very particular things. Certain contacts, certain apps, etc. can all be seen from across the room or in the dark, where the AoD requires focusing and being nearby.

I was a bit put off with the V40 not having a notification light also. I've tried several alternative apps ...
(Always On Edge Display, LED Blinker and NoLED).
The only one that works, for me is the NoLED app. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730692

Notification led

Good evening all.
Is there a notification led on the front of the Rog Phone 2?
And if it is, is it a monochrome led or a multicolor led? If it's a multicolor led, can I modify the color based of notification (WhatsApp message, Facebook Message, GMAIL, SMS, Lost Call, etc.) ?
Thanks in advice
Yeah. It is multicolor. I think you can set it based off of the apps but I haven't checked. Also the logo on the back serves as a notification light if you set it up. But I think it might be buggy as of now.

Yes there is and it's multi color, you can change the color for apps if you use a 3rd party app like light flow. You can only set the color to 1 of 3 colors i believe (Red,Green,Yellow). The default system notification color is green.

If you keep it on a table or bed next to you, is the LED visible if you glance at it? My earlier LG G Pro 2 has a very prominent LED. But the newer phones seem to have a LED that is so tiny and faint that you can hardly see it blinking or glowing unless you hold it right in your hand close to your face. I think it must be the same as this ASUS ROG II phone too. All the Huaweis and Xiaomis that do claim to have LEDs have the useless invisible microscopic LEDs.
